Ayumi glanced around the streets of Diagon Alley, it's surroundings were begining to bore her. And even though she went to different places every now and then, she felt that Diagon Alley would never she the likes of her for a long time, that is until she would have to come back and do her shopping.
She had been staying at the Leaky Cauldron for over one week now, and the room she stayed in was becoming less welcoming with each day she awoke.
Ayumi sat on a bench, enjoying her supply of Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, and Chocolate Frogs. She watched as the people pased by, brushing back her black hair. Everyone was doing their usual shopping and there was the occasional confused first year.
Ayumi sighed, nothing exciting had happened for the past few days, and the long wait till hogwarts made her dislike it even more. She was an impatient person, her motto was, "Now or Never." She wasn't one to sit around and let things happen, she perferred that she made a move, and made things happen.
However, she had spent half half the afternoon on a bench in the middle of Diagon Alley, staring at the random passers. She yawned and brushed a few specks of choclate from her crimson robe. Her legs were strecthed out, today, she wore a pair of black sneakers, different from her usual platform boots. She also had a pair of black jeans, and a red shirt with a black collar.
Her crimson eyes darted here and there, and her mouth chewed on her candy. She was almost finished with her Bertie Botts Beans, but had yet to find a bogger or earwax flavor, not that she was anticipating it, maybe a little curious. She sighed and slumped down, waiting to see what would happen next, on this very predictable day.

"OK Colin now you've got all your supplies how about a meal?" said Kingsley. "I'll take you to the Leaky Cauldron, we might meet one or two friends from the Ministry, and I want to talk to them about the latest news on the Death Eaters," he said. Colin was exhausted and had asked enough questions for the day. He didn't feel like asking Kingsley what on earth Death Eaters were, but they didn't sound like very nice people anyway. Nodding his head he said, "Thanks Mr. Kingsley, I am rather hungry."
Colin followed the middle-aged wizard into the rather crowded restaurant. Apparently it was not only a restaurant but also a place where people could stay overnight. Feeling rather out of place amidst the many wizards and witches Colin held Kingsley's hand more tightly. He could see somebody pointing at what to Colin's amazement was a moving photograph, and saying loudly to his friend "I told yeh. Hastings always was no good at Keeping, I'm glad they kicked him off the team."
"Colin I'll be back in a minute I just need to nip into the loo. You find us somewhere to sit and we'll order ourselves something to eat," said Kingsley. Colin looked around for an empty table. He could see one next to a girl who looked foreign and was eating some candy. As Colin was walking over to the table he accidentally bumped into her chair. "Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bump into you," he said apologetically.

Ayumi brushed her hair again, looking around, she took a sip from her fizzberry soda, looking over from it's can. She picked up a a chocolate frog and looked at it's card, she grunted a threw another card of Professor Albus Dumbeldore on a pile on her left. "They never seem to run out of this guy." She said and bit the head off the frog.
Looking up, she saw that Mr Kingsley, a wizard part of the Ministry of Magic had just entered, accompanied by a small boy. She guessed he was a first year because of his timid look on his face. She shrugged it off and went back to finishing her frog, wondering, what Kingsley was doing here.
She then watched as Kingsley left, heading towards the lavatory, and the small boy walking her way. She picked up her Fizzberry soda and took a long sip, not looking up. While taking her long sip, she felt a sudden jolt, and her soda almost flew up her nose, she spat out and saw that some of her soda had spilled upon her robe, shirt and black pants.
Her lips pursed and she stood up so suddenly, her robe whirred around her as she twirled in a air of anger. "Bloody hell, who did that?!" She said in a high tone as she looked down at the boy who had entered with Kingsley.
Ayumi had her arms crossed and her teeth gritted. She listened as the boy apologized. Ayumi sighed, she couldn't be mad at him, it was afterall an accident, but Ayumi still felt that he had started off with a bad impression. She calmed herself down and ran her finger along her bang behind her ear. "Well." She said, "It's all right." Still standing up, she managed a smile and said, "Hello, I'm Ayumi, you off to hogwarts too?" She asked politely.

Colin was glad to see that the girl's initial annoyance evaporated quickly; he did not want to get into a fight on his first day in the magical world. Smiling back at Ayumi he said "I'm Colin Jaspar, and yes I'm going to Hogwarts too." Colin thought this might be a chance to talk to someone who was going to be a student at the same school he was going to. Though he had asked Kingsley many questions they had not discussed the school, and Colin realized he knew next to nothing about it. Ayumi looked the same age as Colin, and wondering if she was Colin asked her, "Are you a first year too?"

Ayumi grabbed a napkin and rubbed it roughly on her stain, she prayed that the power of house-elf cleasning would take it out. It was one of her favorite out-fits. Then again, every out-fit she wore would be considered her favorite attire. She looked back at Colin, who had finallhy responded with his name and what school he was going to. She smiled a bit and said, "Course I'm a first year, what else did you think I was?" She said in a saracstic tone.
She looked Colin up and down and said, "I'm guessing either you're a mudblood, or have never been exposed to the wizarding world." She said in an emotionless voice. She was one to always ask these questions first. She took her seat, and grabbed hre almost finished box of Bertie Botts Beans. She looked at it, then back at Colin. "Want one?" She said, handing it towards him and waiting for his response.

Colin was rather taken aback by Ayumi's sarcastic tone and he didn't say anything for a minute. When she said that Colin was either a mudblood or had never been exposed to the wizarding world Colin said, "You're right this is the first time for me in the magical world. I didn't know I was a wizard until Hogwarts sent me the letter last August." Ayumi had also said he might be a mudblood. Colin didn’t really like the word although he had no idea what it meant. "I don’t know what a mudblood is."
Ayumi offered Colin a Bertie Botts Bean. Not knowing what they were and thinking that Ayumi was a person whose mood changed every minute he put his hand in and took a green one. He thought it would probably taste like mint candy. Putting it into his mouth and sucking it Colin was unpleasantly surprised to find out it tasted like spinach which Colin had never liked. Colin spluttered and forced himself to swallow the bean. "What is this candy?" he asked Ayumi, hating the taste that was still in his mouth.

Ayumi sighed as she saw Colin's expression to her question. She was used to these type of things. Ayumi was one that didn't really have controll over her tone of voice. It would be either saracstic, emotionless, angry, or serious, depending on what she was talking about. Just as she had guessed, Colin was new here, and by the looks of it, he wasn't fond of being a mudblood. Well she couldn't blame him, mudblood wasn't a very nice word, but when you came from a Pure-blood family, you tend to speak like that.
"Mudblood, muggle-born a wizard coming from muggle parents, muggle a person with no magical relation." She said in her emotionless tone. She watched as Colin took a bean, apparently, what he chose was digusting. She laughed and said, "It's Bertie Botts EVERY flavor beans." She said, "And they mean what they mean."
She stopped laughing, and changed the subject, "So what you doing here with Kingsley." She asked curiously.

"So that's what they are. Yeah well they have certainly proved their point," said Colin. "Oh I didn’t know you could call Muggle-borns that," he saidn, "Mr. Kingsley didn't tell me," he added, refraining from actually saying the word he decided he hated. He was rather surprised she just said Kingsley without the Mr., and wondered where she had met him. "Oh he helped me get my books and robes and stuff. Naturally I've never been in Diagon Alley before. I guess they send a Ministry worker with all Muggle-borns. What are you doing here? Are you by yourself?" he asked.

Ayumi raised her eyebrow, this boy was really unaware of the wizarding world. She had just called him something that was disgraceful to the likes of him. She sighed deeply, and kept in mind that she would stop herself from calling him that ever again. She placed an index finger on her right temple, and said, "hmm so the ministry helps now..." She said thoughfully, and looked at Colin when he asked her if she was here alone. She sighed deeply and said, "eh You know done my shoppng and stuff, also, I'm staying in a room, here, my mom's in Holland, and my dad's in America on some business trip... so I'm here alone, and stuff." She said, her voice slowly lessening.

Colin noticed Ayumi’s deep sigh and thought he wouldn’t like it too if his parents left him alone and went abroad. He wondered how long she had been on her own, but decided it was better not to ask her. He wondered if she knew a lot of magic and started worrying about his lack of knowledge about anything magical. His school-books had seemed very interesting and the authors had the funniest surnames. He couldn't wait a chance to look through them. Colin asked Ayumi another question, “So are your mother and father a wizard and a witch?"

Ayumi went back to eating her chocolate frogs when she saw that Colin was thinking, she wondered what house he would be in, 'Hufflepuff maybe, they allow everyone, Ravenclaw, Does he ave the brains, Maybe Gryffindor, but Slytheirin was out of the question.' SHe thought to herself. She was quickly brought back when she heard Colin's question. She tried to show no disappointment on her face, and answered, "No... my mom, well her side of the family are all purebloods, should have stayed the same with me, instead, she married a muggle..." She finished, ripping off a piece of the frog, rather harshly.

It was obvious that Ayumi hated the fact that her mother had chosen to marry a muggle. Colin wondered what the relationship between Ayumi and her father was like. "Obviously not too good if she thinks so lowly of muggles despite her father being one," he thought to himself. Kingsley finally came out of the toilet and came over to Colin. "Found yourself a friend I see," he said with a smile. He nodded at Ayumi and said "Hello. Well Colin you can sit here if you like. I can see one of my friends from the Ministry."
Colin looked at Ayumi uncertainly then decided to sit down. Colin wasn't too comfortable with sitting with as her mood seemed to change too quickly for him but decided to sit down anyway. He could see a waiter coming to take his order. "What's the good stuff over here anyway? Is there something you usually have that you like?" he asked, looking at what the other people in the pub were eating.
