Out of company (Fiona)

[Cole Waters]

It was a sunny Wednesday afternoon. Diagon Alley was crowded with people. The school year was fast approaching. Students looked to spend their last weeks with their friends and parents looked to get an early jump on shopping. The sun beat down on the heads of everyone as they scurried through the cobble stone streets. Walking past the ice cream shop was Cole Waters. He was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans. He had just woken up thirty minutes earlier. The sun made his pale skin look even paler and his eye's burned as he tried to hide them from the sun. He had been out late the night before and hadn't got much sleep. It was worth it of course because he was out with Dawn. Anything was worth being out with Dawn.

With the heat of the sun on his delicate skin, Cole walked into the ice cream shop to cool off. As he entered the shop, cole could feel the ice cold air on his skin. His nose was filled with the sweet aroma of ice cream and sodas. The room was filled with the talking of the people in it. There were many faces that Cole recognized, few that he actually liked. He decided to get a table in the corner away from all of the people. Sitting down he rubbed the side of his head. He needed to sleep. Just then a waitress walked up to him. "How can I help you today sweaty?" she said. Looking up Cole recognized the brown haired girl as a Slytherin that had graduated two years ago. "How about a root beer float?" Cole said looking down at the table.

As the girl walked away Cole closed his eye's. His head was throbbing, his eye's burning, and his mind still only on one person, Dawn. Even though he had just seen her the night before, he still felt like it had been an eternity. Cole wanted so bad to be with her at this moment but she was out with Aden. This was one of the few moments when Cole found himself alone and frankly he didn't like it. Just then he heard someone stepping beside him. Opening his eye's he saw his root beer float. Looking over, the girl was standing beside him. "Hi, I don't know if you remember me but my names Jess. I graduated a couple years ago." Cole looked at her and shook his head. "Good for you." he said taking a sip of his float. This apparently got through to her because she left just as Cole looked away.

Looking around the room Cole looked for a familiar face, someone to hang out with. Just then he caught sight of Fiona walking through the door. Cole hadn't seen her for a long time. Standing up Cole walked over to her and put his hand on her shoulder. "Hello Fiona." he said smiling. "Why don't you come sit over here with me."

Fiona ran a hand through her short strawberry-blond hair. A lot had changed for her since she had found the truth in her reality. So much pain had gone through her, but now she was happy again. Nothing could hurt her now. She was drama free for at least right now. Besides her life being drama free she now had someone to look to. Someone that would keep her safe from anything and everything that would try to hurt her. She smiled as Kennedy's face came to mind. She couldn't help but feel completely and totally happy when she thought about him. He was the most important thing in her life right now and he was the reason why she was smiling again. It had been so long since she had smiled and it had been even longer since she had felt happy. Kennedy was her greatest friend and the guy she was in love with.

Fiona's smile widened and she looked down at the cobblestone sidewalk to hide her face from the passer-byers. She didn't want those mud-blood's to see her in such a good mood. Only her friends and close allies were allowed to see her in such a way. She didn't want anyone to see that she was finally happy, besides she might actually end up being nice to someone she didn't feel was worthy right now. It was just such a change from how she was a month ago. It made her feel free to be someone she hadn't been in a long time. Someone concerned with purity of blood as opposed to whether or not she was crazy. It was good to get back to normal after such a long time of having horrible dreams and images appearing out of no where. Fiona stopped on the cobblestone walkway of Diagon Alley and fanned herself. It was quite hot that day. Something she definitely didn't like. She hated being hot. She preferred being cold. Not to mention that she hated the sun. It hurt her sensitive eyes and burned her delicate skin. She didn't want that to happen this time around, so she ducked in to the nearest shop to take cover from the cruel sun.

It just happened to be the ice cream shop that she stumbled into. She breathed a sigh of relief. The room was crowded with the unworthy, but at least she could get something cool to drink before heading back out into the burning sun. Just then she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked over and saw a familiar face. "Cole so nice to see you here. It's been a while hasn't it?" Fiona asked as she headed toward the table Cole had been sitting at. A waitress appeared at the table and Fiona sighed at the interruption. "Just get me whatever he has," Fiona said as she waved the girl away. Fiona didn't want to be bothered by a waitress at the moment. She was more concerned with catching up with Cole. Things had been so crazy lately and she hadn't much time to talk with Cole or Pyro for that matter. Her two friends and allies. The only other people she trusted with her life other than Kennedy of course, were the two of them. They had her back and she had theirs. It was their way, their, for lack of better terms, brotherhood. "So how has your summer been going?" Fiona asked as the waitress returned with her drink. She shooed her away with a look and turned her attention back to Cole.
