"Uhh." Abril said as she fell onto the hard ice. It took her a matter of seconds before she stood up with an angered look on her face and her hands on her hips. Abril scowled at her coach. "What am I doing wrong?" She asked still angered knowing Parry would know the exact problem. Abril was preparing for a competition in December. Because of school, Abril hadn't practiced hard in the longest time. All summer she would be rebuilding her skills. "Oh come on!" He called to her as Abril brushed the ice off herself. "Your leaning in too much on your spins." Parry said annoyed. "Abril this is beginner material! How are you supposed to be one of the best upcoming figure skaters and you can't figure out a simple spin?" He asked staing only a few feet from her. "I still don't know why you can't just stay in Glasgow and get a tutor. Why do your parents insist on sending you to that stupid boarding school?" He asked. Abril started skating around for a moment still looking at Parry. He was a muggle, Parry didn't know anything about Abril being a witch or her father being a wizard. All he knew about Hogwarts was that it was a school and Abril went there nothing more. "Because they do. Look, I haven't had a decent practice because I've been coaching myself and it really is hard to scold yourself." She joked. Parry laughed for a second before giving her a serious look. "Go skate." He asked after a moment. "Alright, alright don't be pushy." Abril said turning around to start some jumps.
The blade made a crisp, clean landing on the ice. "Very good." Parry said. Abril had been practicing for five hours now. However, it wasn't her longest practice by a long shot. It was eleven o'clock and Abril had been practicing since six. "Ok, your done, but be here by four." Abril had a three hour practice then. "Alright." She said skating to the entrance of the rink. Right now, Abril was having her private skate time at a public rink in Glasgow. She did have her own rink at her house, but Parry preferred the public one. He liked watching the competition. However, Abril hadn't seen any of the other girls yet. No, the first practice where she would have to skate near them would be at four that very day. "Toodles." Abril waved as she had already put the covers on her blades. She started walking to the locker room. Abril loved summer. She actually had a little bit of time to breathe. Abril was in a lot less competitions than the other girls because of school. But, they still saw her as a major threat. However, Abril liked it that way.
Abril changed from her black figure skating pants and her red skating sweater with her name on it in gold. She had five hours all to herself! What was Abril going to do? She only had soo much freedom and she wanted to spend it. "Diagon Alley." She said proudly. Abril didn't really have a means of being there, but she hadn't gone in soo long. After she thought about it for a moment, Abril decided that eating lunch at the Leaky Cauldron for a bit and then shopping was a good idea. Abril changed into a pink tweed skirt, a white beaded camisole with a mint green shirt over it, and her favorite pink pumps. Abril's parents had money, boy did they. However, Abril wasn't the typical spoiled child. She had things handed to her. Abril always thanked her parents, appreciated it and she never acted like a brat not getting what she wanted. No, Abril was happy with the money just like she would be without it. Can a kid help if your mother designs clothes and your father writes movie scripts? Abril applied light make-up and put her blond hair down. She looked like a muggle, and she practically was one. Abril then headed out tot he car where her driver would escort her home.
Abril walked into the large mansion liked house. "Mom, dad!" She called. However, Abril only heard her echo. Typical. They were never home. They were too busy even for Abril, but Abril was pretty busy herself. Abril wanted her parents to go to Diagon Alley with her, but would they go anyways? Oh well. Abril walked through the large hall that led to a smaller one. There was a door that had been locked and could only be opened with a password. "Ravenclaw." She said simply as the door opened. This room house all of the Lawrence family wizard items. It also held the floo network fireplace. Her father decided to have it in the small closet like room instead of the main room where guests might find someone using it. Abril opened a small silver box and took out her wand. She had placed it in there days before and hadn't used it since. She put it ina the mint green purse laying near it that Abril had placed there days before just in case. She then grabbed a handful of floo powder and walked into the fireplace. "Leaky Calderon!" She said sternly. Within second, Abril was standing right inside the restaurant. It was severely crowded so Abril took the only empty table open knowing some other people would most defiantly have to join her. She started looking at the menu calmly waiting for the waiter.

Storm walked up and down her bully infested street. She was bored. Very bored. She had nothing to do, no games, no friends, nothing. All she had was bullies. "Hey Storm! I know why the call you Storm! Because your so messy, you make one! Ha ha ha!" Pamela screamed at her when she was right in front of her. "Oh, shut up. Your the one who fell in your birthday cake and it went flying everywhere. And when no one was looking, you covered me in it and blamed me." Storm said calmly her her hands in her pockets. "Oh, you shut up you idiot!" Pamela yelled in her ear. Storm felt deaf for a moment, but slowly noises became louder. She walked away, heading down to her house. One house before hers Reggie, a boy one year older than her tripped her. Storm landed on her left side, and felt blood come from her cheek, arm and leg. She had three very big cuts on her left side. She ran to her house and ran to the bathroom. Blood stained her yellow shirt and light green shorts.
"Hey Stor.. What happened to you! Oh my god! Child!" Savannah yelled in shock. It looked like she was about to faint, but she ran to the cabinet. She took out a box of Band-Aids and a bottle of Peroxide. She used a cotton ball to rub the Peroxide on Storm's wounds. "Ah! Ow! Ouch!" Storm said every time she rubbed some Peroxide on. "Now tell me, what happened to you." Savannah said while putting the Peroxide and cotton balls away. "Reggie tripped me and I fell one my left side." Storm said while rubbing her forehead. "At least I didn't break my arm or crack my head again!" Storm said while looking at the bright side. Savannah took a wrap the was like band-aids, but only cotton. She wrapped Storm's leg and arm in it. "I can't do anything for your cheek, but it stopped bleeding, so you should be ok." Savannah said while patting Storm's head.
"Savannah, can you drive me to the Leaky cauldron?" Storm asked. Yes, wizards usually don't use muggle items, but Savannah was a squib. "Yes, just let me get my purse." Savannah said while walking upstairs. Storm took another look in the mirror. "I look hideous." Storm said while sighing. "I'll be waiting outside." Storm yelled to Savannah and walking out the door. Storm looked around to make sure no more unfriendly surprises were waiting for her, and walked to the car. Storm ignored the insults and unfriendly words that were yelled to her by every kid on the block. She was used to it. It was every day stuff. Savannah came walking out and looked around, hearing every word being thrown at Storm. "My god, they treat you like this?" Savannah said while unlocking the doors the her black mustang GT.
She drove for about a half hour, until they reached the Leaky cauldron. "Thanks, pick me up around.. around, well give me your cell. I'll call when I want to be picked up." Storm said while looking through Savannah's window. Savannah handed Storm the cell phone, and Storm walked off. She went to a table and sat down. She heard the flames of the fire place get louder and louder. She looked over there and saw a person coming out the flames. Storm's mouth dropped. She never saw someone do that. She looked at the girl. She was unharmed, not burnt, not anything. She couldn't help but walk over to her. "How'd you do that! I mean, you come out fire.. not burnt!!" Storm said while now speechless.

Post by Dalit Whittemore S5 on Jul 13, 2006 22:09:11 GMT
Dalit sat quietly at the long table, two chairs from the end. Her father, Edward, sat at the very end, as was the protocol for an upper class family. Her mother, Cady, sat in between Dalit and Edward. Two house elves bustled back and forth, serving breakfast. Other than the sounds of knives and forks scraping across plates, cutting the food set before them, the room was silent.
It was a rare occasion that the Whittemore family would all eat together. Edward was rarely home, away on 'business trips', as he called them, although he had never worked a day in his life. Anyone who was born a Whittemore, was guaranteed a 'get by life free card', issued by Gringotts, where the Whittemore family fortune was held.
Near the end of the meal, Edward brought up his plans for the day; he had to visit a shop in Knockturn Alley on business. It wouldn't take very long, so he would have most of the day free. Dalit sat quietly after she finished eating, while her parents discussed the day, making plans without consulting her, or asking for any input. Staring at her plate, she waited for them to tell her what she was doing. Unless both her parents went out, she didn't have a choice what she would be doing.
After a good ten minute discussion, they decided on spending the day in the area around Knockturn, including Diagon, and a stop for lunch at the Leaky Cauldron. Edward would apparate ahead of the two women, and then they would follow by Floo network.
The two house elves began to clear off the table as the Whittemores stood up and went upon their own business. It was only 9:00AM, and they weren't meeting up until 11:00AM.
Dalit went up to her bedroom and began to go through her wardrobe. On the third time looking through it, she decided to wear her dark red dress, which appeared to have a black shine too it in some lights. She found her black sandals to go along with it, and put them both on.
Moving over toward her vanity table, she sat down, staring at her reflection. Her long dark hair hung to her waist, almost perfectly straight, and her skin was pale, like the moon. She picked up her wand that was sitting on the table, and pointed it at her hair. Muttering a word under her breath, her hair began to form into loose curls. When she was done, she stood up and placed her wand in the black bag that was hanging on the back of her chair, and put it over her shoulder. She took one last look in the mirror and walked downstairs.
For two hours, Dalit went onto the Whittemore grounds and sketched whatever she could see; trees, the gates, people walking by, even the occasional wizard flying in the sky. The Whittemore mansion was located in an area full of wizards, so they had no need to conceal magic from the outside world.
Dalit packed up her sketch pad and charcoal and put them in her bag, before walking into her home. She was greeted by a jittery house elf, whom she kicked out of the way as she walked in the front door. "Where is she?", Dalit demanded of the house elf. "In-in the the d-d-dining ruh-oom," he replied as he stuttered.
Dalit made her way to the dining room to find her mother sitting at the table with a family friend. Between them sat a silver pot of tea, with two old tea cups, also made of silver. Dalit stood in the door way, her mother laughing at a joke. "And here I thought that only two year olds had tea parties. Are you ready to go?" Dalits mother turned around to look at her, disapproval all over her face. "That is no way to treat guests, now apologize." Dalit stood in her place, showing no sign of following her mothers orders. "When are we going?" Cady turned back to her guest. "I'm not, you are. Go whenever."
Dalit turned from the room, grabbing the door as she went, and slamming it. Cady screamed as it startled her, but Dalit didn't look back. Moving into the living room, she went to the fire place and grabbed the jar on top of it. Taking off the lid, she took some floo powder and tossed it into the fire. "Leaky Cauldron." The flames of the fire turned a vibrant green. Dalit stepped into them and was instantly whisked away.
The main room of the Leaky Cauldron came into sight, although blurry at first. It was extremely crowded, and all of the tables were taken. People were talking in low voices, but she could make out little bits and pieces as she stepped out. She surveyed the room looking for someone she knew, anyone, but she was unsuccessful. She knew she was supposed to wait for her dad, so she moved to a dark corner of the room.
Dalit could hear someone, asking how they came out of the fire. At first she thought they were talking to her, but then she realised the girl who said it wasn't even looking at her. Dalit frowned. This was another perfect example at the waste of wizards blood.

Abril put her menu down as a girl started talking to her. Abril knew her didn't she. Oh, yes this was Storm Redwood. Of course, both the girls were in the same house and year. However, they hadn't actually talked. Abril didn't really have friends at Hogwarts. Actually, well she didn't have too many friends outside of Hogwarts either. Abril only had time to practice and then practice again. Friends would get in the way of that. She wanted friends, but she knew they would and there was nothing she could do to change that. Abril glanced at the menu a few more times before looking back at Storm. She was hungry, but who wouldn't be after practicing for hours. Abril gave Storm a weak smile. Abril wasn't exactly what you would call a people person. She had to interact with Parry and her parents on occasion. At Hogwarts Abril talked to the teachers in classes and sometimes she would stop by to get extra information on an assignment. But, Abril didn't really associated with students her age even at Hogwarts. The only kids her age Abril had to deal with her fellow ice skaters and usually the tension between them wasn't so good. The only true friend Abril had was Jody Ravinson, a muggle fellow scater. Besides Abril's time to time sightings of Jody, she had no one.
Abril shrugged. "I don't think I've ever come flaming or anything. I don't know why, I guess I pronounce my words very good or something." Abril shrugged again. She had heard that some people had problems with the network, but Abril didn't. While at home, it was her only means of transportation as Abril couldn't yet apparate. Abril looked at Storm. "Your Storm Redwood, yes?" She said calmly. Abril's tone sounded a bit nice, but not too much as Abril wasn't a people person. Suddenly, Abril noticed that Storm's cheek looked hurt or something. "Are you okay? What happened there?" She askled pointing to the girl's cheek. Was Abril actually starting conversation with a Hogwarts student? Well there had to be a first time for everything. Abril was curious actually. There had to be a reason why Storm looked wounded. It actually looked as if she had a few more bruises and things like that as well. Abril was used to getting bruises and cuts so she could give some advice. In ice skating, every has to fall. What comes up, must come down.
Abril noticed a girl in the corner. She wasn't going to say anything to her really. Abril wasn't the friendly to strangers type of person. She looked at the girl for a moment before looking back at Storm. Just then the waitor came up and asked for orders. Abril ordered pumkin juice and just a crossiant. She had to watch her weight of course. Skaters were like models. They always had to look good because cameras were always around plus you can't skate smoothly with extra weight added on than you are used to. This was just the basic facts of skating and nothing could changed them. The other girl was still in the corner. Abril looked at her. "You can sit with me if you need to." Abril said calmly to the girl and then looked back at Storm as if nothing had happened. Well, that was Abril for you. She just sat silently waiting for her order so she could eat and then shop.

Storm knew Abril, she was in her same house and year. Storm saw Abril looking at her cheek, and bruises. "I guess you wondering why I look like I fell off the Astronomy tower." Storm said while taking a seat. Storm sighed. Abril probably wanted to know. "A bully tripped me and I fell on my left side. It does hurt, but I'm used to it. I have bullies everywhere. I just have to deal with it y'know." Storm said and shrugged. Abril took her order. "After you eat, do you want to hang out somewhere?" Storm asked. She wanted to actually hang out with someone she knew would be nice back to her. Storm looked behind her and saw a girl, just looking at her like she did something wrong. "You see that girl over there? Why is she looking at me weird. I mean, did I do something wrong or what?" Storm asked while whispering. Storm looked at the girl again and saw that she was older than her. Please, not another bully. Storm hoped that she wasn't a Slytherin.
(( Sorry it's short, I didn't want to keep you waiting, and I'm really low on inspiration.))

Abril listened to Storm's story about how she got her bruises. A bully? Abril couldn't even imagine that happening to her. Well, that's probably because it never would. She lived in a sheltered neighborhood with mansion like houses all around her. The whole place was surrounded with security cameras and twenty-four hour guards. And of course Abril never talked to the kids in her neighborhood because she was either in the house studying or at the public rink. She never went anywhere else really. "Bullies?" Abril commented quietly. Abril herself had never even been hurt by anyone. The only way she got bruises or in any way hurt was by ice skating. Of course there was that rule that whatever goes up must come down. Abril faced this rule with every ice skating practice. She looked at Storm. "That doesn't sound too fun." Abril said quietly. She was still new to this, but talking to Storm was just so easy like. Abril wasn't used to talking to Hogwarts students. Because well she never did. At Hogwarts she was alone. It was just her, her blades, and her books. Abril looked at Storm. Maybe she could have friends this year. Maybe she could. Besides, what was stopping her? Abril soon got her order back. It was nothing much so it wouldn't take long to eat. She took a sip of the pumpkin juice and a bite of the croissant and then looked back at Storm. Storm then asked Abril if she wanted to hang out after she ate. Of course, Abril was hesitant. Hang out? Abril had never done that. Her only friend to speak of was a fellow ice skater named Joy and Abril didn't really hang out with her. Abril looked at Storm.S he was nice and Abril thought so. So, hanging out with her would be fine, right? Abril gave her a small smile. "Sure, but where will we go?" She asked calmly. "I live in Scotland so I don't know London very well." Abril paused. "Well, I don't know it at all." She said calmly. Abril looked at the girl Storm was talking about. Abril did tell that girl she could come sit with her, but she hadn't. Abril shrugged. "I've never seen her before." She said calmly. "Does she even go to Hogwarts?" Abril asked. She looked at Storm waiting for an answer. ((Sorry it took so long, but my Abril inspiration just now came back to me. ))
