Jack closed up his coat tighter as the cold breeze rattled through. He had no desire for winter in the least, except for Christmas, but even that wasn't any fun anymore. 'Santa Claus' obviously didn't make his rounds as much. Father was terribly busy with all his 'meetings' and Haille was just being annoying. Thus, he went on his own to Diagon with the help of his chauffeur, Bobby. He had always transported Jack without question. He was loyal and a good person, someone Jack could lean on entirely. Haille was becoming a bubble of hot air as the holidays came nearer. Jack couldn't believe it, but he actually found she was uncontrollable. Out of hands, more like. Jack didn't enjoy the feeling of that, and had decided he would take as many chances as he could to be on his own.
Diagon was terribly busy now. The bustle of people and random conversations flew past Jack as he made his way to the heart of it all. Shops were over-filling with Christmas presents and people. The Quidditch shop looked particularly busy at the moment. Jack's cloak flew back suddenly at a gust of wind. Why did winter have to be so cold? Hell, it was still fall, technically. He pushed past a few window shoppers before finally halting in front of a new shop. It was larger then most, and had all the toys anyone could ever want. Jack eyed it carefully, noticing it was in competition with the Quidditch shop. Finally, he decided it appeared to be the best shop around, and entered. The large group of people in such a store managed to shunt Jack to the side. He attempted to go toward an aisle, but found it nigh impossible to walk over there. People were everywhere, scourging the shop like raving animals. Jack stayed in a while longer, but to no success, and finally succumbed to go somewhere else.
A small shack that served small treats and drinks looked inviting. Jack hurried over there, nearly sliding on an ice-patch. Bloody shoes... The shack/shop didn't look nearly as busy; in fact, next to the others it was deserted. Jack smirked despite of himself, noticing that the shack wasn't good on looks either. Since it was the only place he could really relax without being pushed around like a rag doll, Jack entered. The twinkling of a bell above announced it to everyone inside, which included five people, quietly sipping there coffee at separate tables. He looked around before taking another step inside, the door closing with a snap behind him. One of the older men looked up at the blast of cold air, but said nothing to the fourteen year old. Jack shrugged his cloak off (it was hot in here) and draped it over a chair in the back. He sat down slowly, listening to the old piece of wood under him crunch. Honestly, how old was this blasted place? "Anything I can get you, sir?" The waiter man asked after a few moments of impatient waiting. "Oh... yes. Just a mug of hot chocolate." Jack dismissed the servant figure away with a flick of his hand. Suddenly, another breeze of frighteningly cold air swept through the shop. Jack turned an annoyed face to see who had entered.

Vika put on a white coat ready to embrace the cold out side. Her mother was in the kitchen making lunch and her sister was waiting for her mother to give her her food. Vika walked inside the light filled room. The Christmas Tree was in the corner shining with Gold , Red , Green , and Silver. She noticed that the presents seemed to be piling on and on and on everyday. Her purse was on the kitchen table and she grabbed it and waved by to her mother and sister. She could not help ,but feel guilty not staying for lunch. She strugged the feeling of as she walked out side where her aunt was waiting with the car. Her aunt was her mothers sister and wanted Vika to pick some thing out for her self.
She got out of the car at Diagon Alley. Giving her aint a hug she continued on her way. She wore a secert smile as she walked through the security and they smiled she waved at them before heading for the Joke Shop. She noticed it was fairly busy and decided to only purchase one thing. After she checked out she felt her self feeling hungry. Noticing a lonely shack she went over to there. As she entered she heard a soft ding the door closed and she felt warmer. She turned and saw a familier face. " Oh my Gosh!!" She sqealed. " Jack?" She asked the boy.

The hot chocolate came sooner then Jack expected. The people around here must be desperate for some money. The steam rising from the cup enticed him, but after putting his lips to the cup, he found it was too hot to even touch. He pulled back from it, his lips burning from the after-touch. "Damn!" Jack scowled at his cup, licking his lips like a wounded animal. He hadn't meant blazing hot, hot chocolate. He sat back, glaring at the cup while the steam continued to rise. Finally, when no steam rose into the air, he carefully put his palms around the cup and; "Bloody hell!" Jack shot back, a few heads turning at his sudden outburst. It was still so hot he had to refrain from touching it.
Jack was still staring moodily at his cup when a loud voice said his name. Jack turned around slowly, the voice sounding familiar in some way. A girl stood behind him, with blond hair. Jack raised an eyebrow at her so fast it hurt his muscles. He smirked at the girl suddenly and put everything he had been thinking into the farthest tunnel of his mind. "I'm sorry, but do I know you?" Jack asked her sarcastically, his eyebrow sinking back to its normal place. He turned around and put his hands around the mug, relieved it didn't blister his hands. It turned out to be rather good and very chocolaty. Jack sipped it for as long as he possibly could without surfacing for air. The girl was still there, as he looked around. He sighed and motioned for her to sit. "What's your name?" He drawled lazily, perking an eyebrow again.

The boy seemed diffrent. For a moment she thought she had the wrong person. But only for a moment until she saw his eyes. The dark hair and light eyes that was him. " Actully you do know me Mr.Rendel." She said gingerly. She made her way to bar to order. " Ummm coffee." She told the old guy behind the counter. It had been monthes since she spoke to any of the people in the other houses. " This might jog your memory you saw me crying in the hallway. Later in Hogsmead I saw you crying. If you still don't know who I am i'll give you a name. Vika." She told him. About that time she was standing in front of him. Giving him a smile. ''Hi." She said calmley before taking a sip of the drink. It burned her tongue and ,never the less she still enjoyed thr taste.
She slide in a stool net to him. " Long time no see." She said trying to start a converstion. She toke off her coat to reavel the designer jeans and white shirt over it was a half jacket that was pale blue almost gray she pushed a few strands of hair over her ear before taking another sip of her coffee.

Jack glared at the annoying pest. "Actually, I don't know you, Miss." Jack mocked, feeling the need to push the girl away before she could say any more. She went over to the counter and got coffee. He watched, still feeling terribly surprised. He hadn't seen her for a long time, almost as long as he hadn't talked to Bridget Vreeland. Jack fingered the handle of his mug. He wanted to prolong the memories from entering his mind, but they were all silly, foolish memories. If Mack was here, she would surely be surprised and then... she would probably have a go at the insults. Jack smirked at the thought. Mack was unpredictable, so maybe he was wrong on that account. He didn't turn when he heard the voice again.
She talked about the first time they had met. She had been crying in the hall, and that was the first time Jack had met Mack. Well, really talked to her. He smirked at remembering. Mack had really thrashed the girl and Jack had joined in, out of purely being a Slytherin. Jack then was reminded about the time he had been crying in Hogsmeade. He turned abruptly to the girl, his eyes showing his annoyance. "Please. That was last year. I was a big, half-minded fool that had no idea what being a Slytherin meant. I've changed now. You don't see me crying on the street, or making friends with Gryffindors." He spat the word out like something bitter and turned away from the girl, who later said her name was Vika. He had already known that. Bloody hell, he even knew her surname. Spunrick. That blasted name. Jack bit the inside of his cheek and turned back to her. "Yes, a terribly long time. If only it had been longer." Jack replied smoothly, an eyebrow raised. "Have you gone into hiding or something, afraid to come out and talk to people? I haven't seen you around lately, so I just figured you couldn't let us Slytherins see your face. Or something like that." Jack smirked and took a sip of his hot chocolate, peering over the rim to watch her reaction.

She listened to him talk. She exaimened her nails as she listened. " Last year. Yes I do admit it was a long time ago. But I do recall that you where a friend don't believe me rember the time with you, me, and Bridget?" She she said more to herself as she remembered the time before this. Many things had changed. Her actions watched by her parents. She was limited to people she could hang out with. She longed to see her old friends and yet she was prohibited. She toke another sip of her coffee as she continued to listen to him.
He made a comment as she spoke then replied. Smiling nastyley. " No not hiding just stupid parents who don't let me live my life. I still see your testy." She replied to him. As he spoke more people entered the shack. She watched them for a while.

Jack rolled his eyes at Vika, clearly agitated. Did she always have to annoy him when he had just begun to settle down? Why did she have to come up now? Oh, if Mary was here to see him talking to her again. He wasn't happy to see her around again, in fact he was angry that she was bringing up everything he had wanted to forget about last year. Bridget, Vika, Brooke... All those rotten people he gave a chance. Jack hated himself for letting those people think they were his friends. It had all been a dream of yours, Jack wanted to say in this prats face. A dream, a fantasy, not reality.
"Just let it rest. I know you thought I was your friend back then. I hate to break it to you, but my friendship always belonged to my real friends. You were never under that category, I'm afraid." Jack smirked at her, lowering his mug as he did so. Hot chocolate always did wonders on the soul and mind. He couldn't really enjoy right now, since Vika wouldn't leave him alone. Jack rolled his eyes on to her. "Just stupid parents? Oh, what a horrible, horrible thing for you to...ah...endure." Jack told her softly, with his head tilted to the side. Sarcasm would be obvious through this whole conversation, no doubt. He looked at her with a raised eyebrow as she said he was still 'testy.' "I'm only testy when a big annoying prat is following me around, thinking that I'm actually her friend. Maybe I was before. I don't care to remember. But - I'm not anymore. It's not a hard concept to grasp." Jack said with irony. "No need to live in a fairy tale anymore, dearest. I thought I would try to take you out of it before you get even more crazier ideas.
"I don't just give out my friendship to anyone," Jack continued like a lecture. He made his voice sound like a parent telling off their five year old. "No, I give it to people I respect. People who deserve such a thing, as it's an important part of me. Last year I was confused, but now I'm set straight again. I realize now you're just an annoying brat that can't understand what I'm trying to say. Look," Jack said with a new Slytherin approach. "I know it's hard to let a guy like me go, but you have to try."

Vika listened calmely to him talk. She wore a strange smirk on her face. As he finished talking she smiled then just shoke her her head like she was talking like she was disapproving of a childs behavier. " Sorry to break it to you but Bridget and I were your true friends or real friends whatever you call use. And I don't care if my parents are nothing to you unfortuntaly I didn't come here to catch up on old times or my parents history. And did not follow you around plus you know who prats are those sour faced people you call worthy of your freindship. You know what I call them? I call them people who can't enjoy the finer things in life like happiness." By now her voice was filled with a dangerous tone. She continued and the peole sitting next to her put down their coffee to listen to her.
" Guess what I have a news flash for you." She drug out. " My life has never been and could never be a fairy tale. But I can't help I put people in to better moods and that I live happley even if it a lie. No need to play hero your the one with your head in the clouds." She said still talking dangerously. " And Guess what I don't give my friendship out to any old person either. But I'm not like you who just feels people should be worthy of kissing your feet. I like my friends because they like me enjoy life. By the way I can't let get go of something I never had." She said calling the waiter over and ordered another cup of coffee.
It was a few minutes before he came back with it. She toke a sip of it and let the warmth hug her.

Jack nodded encouragingly to her as she spoke. It was funny, actually. People around them were listening in, listening to this girl make a fool of herself. The more she talked to worse it got. Jack breathed in and resolved not to roll his eyes too much as each sentence made her look more the fool then the superior. Jack licked his chapped lips when she finally shut that overly large mouth. "Of course. I'm very wrong. Friends are your good point; you have so many." The words shot out of Jack's mouth after thinking them through thoroughly. His smirk became more evident as he examined his shoe laces. "Sour faced? Prats? Slytherins?" Jack laughed at the thought. "Yes, they all are. That's why their my friends, Vika darling. Because they are like me. You, acting like some doll, flirting with anyone and everyone..." Jack recalled their first meeting vividly. "You need to know your place in the world. Even if you can't enjoy happiness, people like myself don't hide from the truth. To be happy, you practically have to do that. "Now, I don't want to give you a lecture, but why use that tone with me? Does that make you feel better by acting like someone with more power then I? You're only leading yourself down a path of lies, and I don't plan to follow. Manners, is the word you need to learn, I believe. You shouldn't be talking like that to someone who has more power, and therefore is your superior. You needn't apologize for it, as I'm sure that's what you're thinking of doing, but next time be careful what you say and how you say it. It makes things easier for you and I." Jack smirked again, his eyes bright with a malicious light. "You don't give your friendship to anyone, eh? Recall those first days, when I saw you in the hall for the first time, and you tried to be my... friend?" Jack asked with a daring smile. "Of course, if you don't remember, I could always give you a... ah... 'news flash.'" He laughed slightly and shifted back in his seat. His laugh soon turned bitter as she said he had his heads in the clouds. "No, but I wish I did." Jack stood up abruptly, downed the last of his coffee, and glared at Vika. "So, unless your not done wasting my time, I think I'll be on my way." ((Sorry for such a late reply. ))

" What do expect me to beg for your forgiveness? Not gonna happen. And Yes I do flirt. I don't need your permission to live. Oh and please don't stay on my account I need to leave anyways. I unlike some people have a life." She said getting up. She rolled her eyes and paid for the coffee. Same time her cellphone went off.
She was out of the door into the cold before she anwsered it. " Hello..." And she was gone to enjoy her afternoon.
(( Well mine was short not much to say.))
