Charlie apperated just down the road from the Burrow. He was headed home for the first time in what seemed like months and the short walk would only make it seem that much longer. He set off on his walk, seemingly getting faster and faster with every step until he felt as if he would set off running if he didn’t see his family soon. Charlie’s appearance gave his family name away. His red hair and freckles were what always gave it away, but it was never any big deal to him. He was proud to be a Weasley, there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. He couldn’t figure out what his younger brother Percy had ever seen so wrong with it, that it would cause him to almost completely stop talking to his family. Percy was just being himself, Charlie guessed. Percy had always been a little uptight like that.
Charlie looked at his hands after running them through his beachy cut hair. They were scared and burned. It was one of the bothers of working with the dragons. Dragons were colossal, and magnificent creatures, but required superb handling and care. No matter how careful one was, there was always a chance of getting burned, or clawed. Even the occasion rose where Charlie had seen some handlers get hit with the massive spikes of a dragon’s tail, all because they had approached the dragon the wrong way. Charlie had been working with the dragons for some time now, and it just excited him more and more to be working with the marvelous creatures. But in the times that it was, it also gave him the opportunity to be some what sure that the Death Eaters put up a good fight to get to the dragons.
Charlie suddenly realized that he had been looking at his feet for almost a mile now, which meant he should be almost home. He looked up from the road to see the Burrow coming into sight. He was close enough now that his mother’s intruder charms should be announcing his presence. Thus meaning that she or Fleur or Bill would be peeking out of the window to see whom could be approaching the house. They knew that Charlie didn’t like to apperate too closely to the house, for there could be Death Eaters located anywhere outside the boundaries of the intruder charms just waiting for someone to give The Weasleys a reason to lower their defenses for a half a minute. That would be all it would take for an intruder to get within the boundaries of the intruder charms, and once they had made it so far in, the charms would no longer notice them.
Charlie waved as he approached the house. He was sure that he had seen a face in the window just before he had waved, but now that he looked again, the face had disappeared. The next sound he heard was his mother’s loving voice, welcoming him home. “Charlie, Charlie. It’s so wonderful to have you home.” She had stated. He knew this was true, and yet he couldn’t put into words how happy he was to be home. Even if it was just for a short while.
