Melantha stood on the 2nd floor balcony of her new estate in the English countryside. In April when she had become of age in the wizarding world, her parents had given her a large gift of land and an open bank account with which to use as she saw fit. Melantha had naturally brushed off all her classes from April till nearly the end of the term as she spent most her time drawing up plans for her new home. Once her plans were complete it had only taken a few weeks for magical construction crew to complete the estate. The two story mansion sat upon a hill that overlooked a grassy meadow with a small brook running through it and light woods on the south and east edge. Melantha had purchased luxurious decorations throughout her home but had also managed to stay frugal and had gotten the best deals.
The second floor was strictly a living area. Melantha's master bedroom was by far the grandest room on the floor. An enormous bed was the center of the room with several decorative armoires along the back wall. A large stone fireplace was nestled in the corner in front of a white couch. In the far corner next to the master balcony stood an oak bookshelf and an enormous wooden desk. A series of gold trimmed standing mirrors and an elegant vanity adorned the inner wall of the room. Next to the vanity was the master bathroom which had a marble tiled floor and a giant sunken bathtub in the center with mirrors lining the ceiling. The rest of the 2nd floor housed six guest bedrooms and two guest bathrooms, all of which were elegantly furnished, though not so luxurious as the master rooms.
The first floor feature an enormous living room with several white couches and soft white carpet. An enormous marble fireplace centered the living room and next to it was yet another guest bathroom. Off to the side was a library that housed close to 1,000 books. The dinning room was a large room with marble tiled floor and a luxurious glass table with 12 chairs. The kitchen was large and stocked with the finest cooking utensils, ovens and cold boxes. Although Melantha wouldn't touch anything in the kitchen, she had made sure that Lina her house elf who had come with her from her parents home would have the best tools for cooking her meals. Off to the side of the kitchen was a small pantry that would serve as Lina's quarters. Melantha had spent a decent amount on the pantry, far more than what most would have done for a house elves living space.
Outside the mansion, Melantha had put in a series of large flower gardens that wrapped themselves around the mansion so that at anytime of day one could go to a garden and sit in shade. Behind the mansion was a large horse stable that presently had only one occupant, Zephyr a white mare that her parents had given her after she received her Hogwarts letter on her 11th birthday. Melantha planned on getting at least one more horse to keep Zephry company.
"Master your dress is ready" A small voice interrupted Melantha's thoughts and she turned from the balcony to face Lina the little elf who was holding up an elegant black dress. "Thank you Lina, how are the preparations coming?" She asked as she took the dress and walked into her bedroom. "Lina has the food cooking and Booms of Light should be here at 12:45 master." Melantha slipped out of her bathroom and pulled the dress on as she listened to the elf's report. "Very good Lina, return to the kitchen and greet the band when they arrive, show them to the west garden, tell them I expect them to be playing by 1 o'clock." Melantha then walked to her vanity and began to apply her make up and used her wand to give her red hair a slight curl. When she finished she put on a pair of black high heels and then stood in front of the wall mirrors examining her image, she was gorgeous as always though she always insisted on checking to be sure.
From outside her window she could hear the band was setting up and preparing their instruments. Then came the unmistakable sound of someone arriving by the Floo Network. Turning to the door Melantha walked out of her bedroom and then down the marble stairs to see who had arrived.
