Amelia sighed as she sat at her computer, her fingers clicking on the black keyboard and the words appearing on the screen as she wrote her story. She tilted her head, her fingers suddenly immobile, hovering over the keys. She sighed again and realized she had "Writer's Block". She shook her head and saved the story, shutting down the computer. She glanced at the fireplace, bitting her lip. She wanted to go to Hogsmead... but since the attack on Diagon Alley, her father forbid her to go anywhere and she usually listened to her parents, so she looked down at her hands.
She needed to get out of the house. She looked at the clock above the microwave in the kitchen. 3 in the afternoon... and she was still in her pajamas from that morning. She knew she had to get ready for the day, maybe convince her father to let her go to the mall. She stood from the computer desk and ran to her bathroom. After a nice shower, applying her make-up to look dark, and wearing a black t-shirt and a pair of jeans. She grabbed the phone and punched in her father's cell phone number. He answered and she somehow got him to let her go to the mall for a few hours. She would take the bus and be home in a few hours.
She took hold of her purse, which held her wand and her floo powder just in case trouble arose, checked her neck length blonde hair in the hallway mirror and locked the front door behind her. She walked to the bus stop and soon was getting off in front of the Muggle Mall of London. She smiled and ran inside, intent on going to a store called Hot Topics, her favorite store ever. She entered the gothic styled store and browsed through the clothes and different shirts, arm warmers and wrist bands.

Meyghan loved to shop, and ever since the attacks she had problems getting her father and brother to let her go anywhere by herself. She had managed to get them to agree to a trip to the muggles Mall in London though, she had been so excited. This gave her a chance to get some more of those totally awesome muggle clothes, and to see if anyone she knew shopped there as well.
Meyghan had been here once before with her family, and had loved this one store called " Hot Topic". The clothes they had in there were just too cute.
After arriving at the Mall and getting her father to give her some money, and let her wander by herself, she began to search for the store. Wow, getting Dad to let me wander was difficult. I had to prove to him that my wand was in my bag. Meyghan thought to her self. Meyghan was proud of her bag, it was her favorite colors, black and blue. Not many people understood why a girl would like those colors, but Meyghan knew that if anyone from her school saw her bag they would know what the colors stood for.
Finally, Meyghan arrived at 'Hot Topic' and went in to look around. She noticed a girl that looked familiar, but she wasn't so sure, so she just began to look at the same type of clothes. Meyghan was afraid to mention school. What if the girl is a muggle? She'll think I'm weird for asking her if she goes to a school that the muggles don't know exist. Meyghan thought to herself. She so wished she knew for sure, she would love to have another girl to shop with. Maybe then she could get her dad and brother to go home.

Amelia was deciding between two different pairs of arm warmers, bearing the punk version of the Gryffindor colours. She bit her lip in indecision when suddenly a girl entered the store. She looked up, her neck length blonde hair swaying. The girl seemed a bit too preppy to be in Hot Topic, but Amelai just shrugged that off. She used to be preppy and loved this store, so who was she to judge? The girl did look a bit familar... did she too go to Hogwarts? Amelia had meet a few students from there no less than a week ago, so why not a few more. Since Diagon Alley was destroyed, most had been looking for someplace to go to, somewhere! She always had loved Muggle clothes, so it was no surprise that she would go to a Muggle mall for some awesome arm warmers. She was so interested, however, in if the girl did in fact go to Hogwarts, that she dropped the arm warmers back to the small hook and walked over.
"Excuse me?" she asked in a friendly tone, "Um, do I know you from somewhere?" Amelia wanted to know. If the girl said yes, than she went to Hogwarts. It had to be, "It's just, you look really familar,"

Meyghan had been browsing through the ties and the leg warmers. She had just moved around to the arm warmers and found the cutest pair of blue and black striped ones with glove like ends to fit over her hands, they even had the holes for the fingers cut out of them.
Meyghan had been watching the other girl carefully, wondering if she too went to Hogwarts. The girl looked way to familiar not too. Then the girl startled Meyghan by asking if they might know each other. Meyghan didn't know what to say, so she thought of the first thing that was on her mind. " I'm not sure, but you too, look totally familiar. Have we seen each other around school maybe?" Meyghan said playing with her bag a little. She thought that if the girl went to Hogwarts, she hopefully would get the hint and notice the colors of the bag, and realize that they were Meyghan's Ravenclaw colors. She had never been so proud to be wearing black and blue, as she was now that she had been sorted into Ravenclaw. She always knew she would be. Meyghan stood almost totally still, except for playing with her bag, and putting the warmers down. She hoped that the girl was from her school. It would totally be cool.

Amelia felt a bit nervous at the girl's question. What if were a Muggle? She shrugged mentally, well one muggle who I may never see again could know about Hogwarts, right? They'd just think I'm crazy... She turned to the girl and saw the colours on her bag. Black and blue... Ravenclaw colours? Or was it a coincidence. She bit her lip and turned to a pair of arm warmers, the colours were red and black. She looked back at the girl and wondered if she should say she went to Hogwarts. She felt stupid, why not? So what if she were a Muggle, it wasn't a life or death situation..
"I go to a school called... errrm, Hogwarts. Have you heard of it?" she asked, holding up the arm warmers as a hint that she were in Gryffindor.

Meyghan was shocked, she had been right. She did know the girl from school, just not personally. " You must be in Gryffindor, or you just really like those colors. That's why I kept trying to draw attention to my bag, I knew that if you were a muggle, you would just think that it was my favorite colors. But that a fellow student would know the difference." Meyghan said as quietly as she could although she was excited.
Meyghan didn't know that other students from Hogwart's shopped here as well, so it surprised her a little. " So, what brought you here? The only place you could get your family to let you go shopping too?" Meyghan asked

Amelia smiled, feeling just as excited as the girl's eyes were. She nodded at her comment, or was it a question? about her house, "Yeah, I am a Gryffindor..." she smiled again, proud of her house. She looked about the room, nervous for a Muggle overhearing their conversation, "You must be a Ravenclaw, no one would love blue and black that much unless they were," she almost laughed when the girl confirmed it. She was a Raven. Amelia had no problem against Ravenclaws... it was the Slytherins who she couldn't stand.
She shrugged when the girl asked about shopping here because her parents wouldn't let her out anywhere else. Before Amelia answered, she was cautious. It was true, her father didn't want her in the wizarding world very much, seeing as Diagon Alley was attacked. She was cautious because the last time she had mentioned Diagon Alley and the attack, the girl had left because she was in the attack. Amelia knew she was lucky she wasnt there when the alley was attacked. She hestitated.
"Yeah, my dad doesn't want me in the... err," she lowered her voice a bit more, "Wizarding world," she didn't go on further. She wanted to sit down. She turned and placed the arm warmers back on the rack and motioned for the girl to follow her out of the store. A bench sat in the middle of the long corridor like thing where people walked to get into each shop. Amelia walked ot it and sat, motioning for the girl to do the same.
"What's your name anyway?" she asked, "Mine is Amelia Richardson, Gryffindor fifth year and hopefully the new chaser..." she smiled. She wanted to be on the Quidditch team very, very badly.

Meyghan was worried that someone would overhear them, and she knew that wouldn't be a good thing. Meyghan kept glancing around as she spoke, and notice that the other girl was doing the same thing.
" At least you were able to escape your parents. My dad and brother are somewhere here in the mall." Meyghan said. " The only way I would be able to get them to go home without me, would be to find someone to shop with."
Meyghan noticed the girl put away the arm warmers that she had been looking at, and motion Meyghan to follow her to the bench out in front of the store. Meyghan put back the warmers that she too had been looking at, and followed the girl out of the store.
" Hi Amelia, I'm Meyghan Gallagher. Fifth Year as well."

Amelia smiled at Meyghan's comment about "escaping" her parents. Yeah, them working all day is escaping them...su-re. She shook her head. That was no way escaping them. They were escaping her. She then smiled even wider as Meyghan followed her to the bench so they could talk more privately. She waited for Meyghan to introduce herself and Amelia's smile turned into a friendly one as she extended her hand for a hand shake.
"Hi Meyghan!" she said, excitedly. Another fifth year!

" I love to shop here, but I miss being able to watch all the cool things that some of the other stores sale." Meyghan said quietly. She could totally rebuild her wardrobe here, but nothing compared to the magical things in the windows of some of the wizarding shops.
" So, umm... What do you want to do?" Meyghan asked Amelia as she began to look around. Meyghan also thought about the attacks, and wondered if they could happen here in the muggle world. " Do you think they would, well umm.. you know, do you think it will happen here?" Meyghan was a little shocked that she had openly asked that question, but she did wonder about it alot.
Meyghan was getting kind of hungry, since she hadn't eaten a very big breakfast, and wondered if Amelia would like to get something to eat. Meyghan shrugged off the thought of asking and decided it could wait.

Amelai nodded her agreement. She too loved this mall. Any mall, really. Her favorite was the store right in front of them, Hot Topic. Before she could agree however, Meyghan asked what they should do. Amelia felt a bit surprised at the question and was also thrilled that Meyghan wanted to hang out with her. She smiled warmingly. Then the subject changed to the Diagon Alley attack... How she knew Meyghan was refering to the attack, she did not know. Maybe she will never know, but the fact was Amelia felt the same. She gulped, feeling a bit nervouse all the sudden. She bit her lip, wondering how she should answer that.
"Well, err," she ran her fingers through her neck-length caramel blonde hair, a sub conscontious thing she always does. Her fingers threaded through the strands of silky hair, "I... I don't know, really. I s'pose it could happen," there was no use in lying or not telling the whole truth to Meyghan. She was a fellow student and not some child that Amelia would have to hide her true feelings, "I mean, that would suck..." she chuckled a bit at that. It sounded so Muggle, but she was raised by Muggles, so what the heck! "I don't know what would happen. There shouldn't be a reason for, err," she paused, wondering if Meyghan was afraid of Voldemort's name. Maybe she wasn't! After all, they were both raised in a society where Voldemort was never heard of. She shrugged, whatever! "Therw wouldn't be any reason for... Voldemort... to attack a Muggle Mall. True I have seen about four witches and wizards in here... But I haven't seen Harry outside school, so I don't think we should worry," she smiled reassuringly.
She took a deep breath, getting away from the disturbing subject. She looked around, searching for something to do. There was a food court nearby and she felt a pang of hunger and turned back to Meyghan, noticing a growl coming from her stomach. She stood, took hold of Meyghan's hand and smiled, pulling her to her feet.
"Let's eat something, my treat!" she said, her smile radiant. She then took hold of her purse, made sure Meyghan had everything and then led her to the food court. Sounds erupted from the small shops. Different smells of different types of food exploded in her nose. She stuck her tongue out in a thinking way and looked about, searching for a "restaurant". She decided she wanted Chinese and pulled Meyghan to the small counter. She turned to Meyghan.
"I want fried rice... what do you want? You don't have to have chinese. I can get you something else!" she giggled, a pure actual giggle.

Meyghan thought about what Amelia had said. She didn't see any reason for Voldemort to attack the muggles, but it seemed that Harry being around didn't always have something to do with it. " Did you know that Harry wasn't in Diagon Alley when it was attacked?" Meyghan asked " That's why I wonder if it could happen here. Oh well, enough of that sad topic."
Amelia had known almost instantly which attack that Meyghan had been talking about, but that didn't bother Meyghan. She was glad to have someone her own age to talk too. Meyghan suddenly heard a horrible rumble coming from somewhere near the two of them, she glanced down and realized that it was just her stomach. She didn't think that she was hungry enough for it to growl so loudly.
Amelia seemed to have noticed the rumble as well. Meyghan blushed when she looked back at Amelia. " Sorry I just didn't have a large breakfast." She said somewhat shyly.
Suddenly Amelia was offering to go get something to eat. She had even offered for it to be her treat, but Meyghan knew that her dad could more than afford to pay for both the girls something to eat. " No, I'll buy. It'll be okay." Meyghan offered. She didn't entirely like to admit that her family was rich.
" So, are your parents muggles? Don't take that the wrong way, it doesn't matter. I was just curious. My dad is the only one who raised my brother and myself, but he is pureblood, and so was my mum. He isn't at all like some of the purebloods. He understands that the talent is what matters not the bloodline." Meyghan said as the girls walked toward the food court.
Meyghan could hear the sounds and was beginning to smell all the delicious smells. Amelia had said that she wanted fried rice, Chinese sounded good to Meyghan as well. When her father had brought her here before she had tried the sesame chicken, and had loved it. " Chinese sounds great to me." She said with enthusiasm.

Amelia ignored the sudden jump start to her heart when Meyghan mentioned that Harry wasn't in Diagon Alley when it was attacked. She knew that, but it was just easier to think that if Harry wasn't around they were safe. She gulped and tried to forget her frieght. They finally made it to the counter of the chinese food "restaurant" and Amelia licked her lips. Meyghan said she could pay and Amelia mearily shrugged, ok... Less money she had to pay. She then looked back at Meyghan when she asked if Amelia's parents were muggles or not. Then she said that her parents were wizards. Amelia was puzzled, she could swear that Meyghan had said her parents were Muggle as well... maybe she was just loosing her grip on reality as usual.
As they waited for the two people ahead of them to order, she thought about how to say her answer, "Well..." she finally said, "Yes, they are. My whole family. My great grandma, though, was a witch... so that is probobly how I got it," She shrugged, wondering why Meyghan cared. It was now their turn, so Amelai stepped up and asked for a large Shrimp Fried Rice and then turned to Meyghan.
"What do you want?" she asked, motioning to the menu. The oriental guy behind the counter punched in the numbers into the cash register and waited for Meyghan to order.

Meyghan didn’t care if Amelia’s family were muggles, it didn’t bother her. Meyghan did say that she had been sort of raised like a muggle. She had been taught a little magic but not much. Her father had preferred them to act like muggles, since they lived in a muggle community. “ That is so cool. I was sort of raised like a muggle, but only because we live in a muggle community. He taught us a little magic while we were inside the house, but he wouldn’t teach us a lot.”
As they walked up to the counter, Meyghan began to look at all the delicious food that the restaurant had. Meyghan knew that she liked the sesame chicken, but wanted to try something new. Meyghan didn’t like rice a whole lot, but what Amelia had gotten sounded worth trying. “ I’ll have the same thing.” She said placing her order as well. Meyghan had offered to pay for the two girls lunch, she wasn’t worried about the prices. “ Is there anything else you want?” She turned to Amelia and asked.
Meyghan hoped that her asking about Amelia’s parents didn’t bother Amelia, it’s just that she didn’t know very many people who had muggle parents. But then again, Meyghan didn’t know very many students that went to school with her anyway. “ I’m sorry if my question startled you but I was just curious. I don’t know many students at the school, so I really don’t have many friends, and therefore don’t know much about others who are muggle raised. It amazes me sometimes.” Meyghan tried to explain quietly, as they waited for their order.

Amelia shook her head at the question for more food. A large shrimp fried rice is more than enough for her, plus she needed to cut down on her carbs ((A bit subconsious about her weight...)). She took her food and paid for both of them before Meyghan could. She smiled and went to find a spot to eat. She even shook her head at Meyghan's apology about the question of her parents.
"No it's ok, I just thought that you were muggle born, for some strange/odd reason," She smiled again and took a large bite of her rice, grabbing soy sauce and pouring it over the top of the rice. After mixing it all up, she took another bite and then realized they didn't have drinks. She looked around and spotted a soft drink stand.
"You want some pop?" she asked, half standing and motioning toward the soft drink stand.

"Sure, pop sounds good." Meyghan said quickly. Meyghan realized that her being here shopping might have been what made Amelia think that she was muggleborn. " I don't imagine that you run into many purebloods here do you? I love this place though. The way everything works without magic is amazing." Meyghan said quietly.
Meyghan grabbed the food, and turned back to Amelia, " So where do you want to sit?" Meyghan asked her looking around at the seating areas in the middle of the food court.
(( uggghhh sorry so short, it was all I could get))

Amelia ordered some more pop for Meyghan and then turned to the girl as she spoke, "Nope, no purebloods... well maybe one, I'm not sure. I usually don't ask!" she scanned the tables and spotted about a dozen open. She smiled and motioned with her head for Meyghan to follow. She inspected a few tables and sat at what appeared to be the cleanest one.
Instantly she was eating her food, the flavours mixing about in her mouth and causing herself to smile a bit. It had been a little while since she acually ate any fried rice... but it was definatly a treat when she got some.
((sorry so short, but whatever... we should finish this post up pretty quick so we can get started on the school year posts))
