Socializing at the Amusement Park (Talan and any1)

((Sorry, I didn't have enough room on the title. It's Talan and anyone else who wants to join. ))

Terra ran up and down the house practically shouting with glee. She was going to go to the Amusement Park today! She was so excited she knocked over a nearby chair which also had to do with her clumsiness. Her mother, Jennifer shook her head in disapproval. He daughter was never happy; why did that suddenly change now? Or perhaps she had always been happy just never showed it. She smirked at her daughter before returning to the dishes. Terra tapped her foot impatiently out of spite causing her mother to round on her.

"Terra! You better stop that this instant or you'll be locked up in your room with no supper!" she snarled before returning back to her dishes.

"But Mum! You'll take forever! You always do. We'll get there at four in the evening if that!" Terra retorted before stomping out of the room. Her mother was what people called a neat-freak. She had to make sure that the dishes were sparkling clean before she would dismiss them. Terra shook her head sadly at her mothers back and then scrambled out of the kitchen before her mother decided to place her under the punishment.

The Amusement park was supposed to be the best in the United Kingdom! Terra was so excited about going. It had the biggest roller-coasters there and some water slides and rides too. Terra had always fancied heights and dangerous rides. Her parents had always disapproved of her passion and had dismissed it as something silly and unintelligible. Instead, the became involved with Terra's seven brothers, the other siblings she had. She had always be envious of her siblings until she had gotten her letter to Hogwarts. Then it had all changed. Jennifer had admitted to the fact that she was a witch and Terra was for once in the spotlight. She had begun to love it there but it did have its downs too. Mostly when she had seven envious brothers on her tail. Her brothers, every single one of them, had a special sport talent. It was strange that Terra was the only one without this talent. She hadn't enjoyed it; watching on the side-lines as her parents rejoiced over having such wonderful children and watching her brothers get all the glory. It wouldn't have been so horrible if her parents hadn't been sport fanatics. She brought her pillow up to her face and blew in it, just to let some of her anxiety wear down. A knock on her door sounded that her mother had been done. It had only taken one hour - a new record - which surprised Terra but made her much happier.

"Ready to go, Terra?" She asked wearily as her daughter bounced around. Jennifer was as tall as Terra was already. Of course, Jennifer had always been small for her age but it had never upset her as much as this. She ignored it this time and grabbed Terra's shoulders to steer her out of the room.

"I'm so excited, Mum!" she squealed, letting her mother drag her around.

"I can see that," Jennifer said icily that made Terra wonder why she was so cold all the sudden. It must have had to do with something that had happened abruptly for Terra had no knowledge of anything that could make her mother so cold. Her father, Jerry, disliked roller-coasters and had decided not to come along. It was to bad, however, that her five brothers who were currently living didn't think the same. James, seventeen year old, jumped into the hallway unexpectedly causing Terra to shriek. Sam, John, Steven and Robert followed. They all laughed hysterically at Terra's scare.

"Shut it, boys." she said although she couldn't hide her smile. They broke into more fits of laughter and Jennifer joined in rather reluctantly. Once they were all done laughing, they went out to the car - James still clutching his side - and piled in. Mark and Dan, the two oldest, were already married and out of the house. Well, Mark was engaged but it counted as marriage. She closed her eyes as James, who sat in front, blasted the rap music on the radio. How did she live with such....people? She smiled before resting her head on her hand in a self-satisfied way, facing toward the window.

They arrived in two hours; exactly at noon. Terra paused before she jumped out of the car to look at the sights above her. A huge roller coaster was just over their heads, swiveling this way and that. You could hear the distant screams of people riding the small coasters. Terra smiled wickedly; this was the place to be. She jumped out and hit the ground gracefully, turning this way and that to smile at her family. But none of them were there. They had all ran off in different directions to feast on their wildest imaginations. Terra sighed; it was always like this. Even Jennifer couldn't contain the childish part of her heart when it came to cotton candy. She smirked before jogging off to the nearest roller coaster. It was called Eagles Pass which probably explained its height. It was by far the tallest in the whole park. Terra sauntered off to the line just in time to get on. It was just starting to load up on people. She wondered if anyone else was alone and would sit with her. After all there was only two seats that sat side-by-side. There were probably twenty five rows of seats in all, so there was plenty of space to be filled. She sighed and looked away from the track that seemed to lead up to the sky. Even though Terra loved the thrill of a ride, it always was rather nerve-racking the first time.

A bit disgusted, Talan quickly turned and looked at the entrance to the giant roller coaster in front of him. The Eagle's Pass was the best roller coaster in the park, or at least he had read in a brochure. Forget them, he thought as he walked up the ramp where the line of people waiting to ride began. His friends, who he had came to the park with, all decided that the coaster was too much for them, and they all backed out on riding it. Talan however, afraid of little to nothing, was not going to let his friends' sour moods ruin his day.

The line moved slowly forward, and he stood alone, waiting for his chance to ride. A burst of screams were heard as one of the trains began its descent down the hill. Talan couldn't wait. With each minute that passed, he moved closer and closer to the loading place where anxious riders prepared for the rush of adrenaline that was about to take place.

As he was about to board the train, he realized that the seats were in pairs, yet he was alone. Looking for another single rider, Talan noticed a girl that appeared to be about his age, who was already buckled in a seat on the train. He approached the empty seat. "Mind if I join you," he asked politely. He looked at the girl, waiting for a response.

Terra was messing around with her buckle. It was far too tight even on her slim figure. "Whoever was in this last must have been a stick," she mumbled irritably as she stretched it out some more. It was very resistant and refused to move very much to the side. Terra had decided that it was stuck there. She was about to raised her hand for help when it finally slipped away a little. Breathing more freely, Terra let a smile split her lips. She was really enjoying just sitting her messing with her buckle. She was very happy that her brothers weren't here to see her. They would be in hysterical laughter. It would have caused everyone to look back at her and cause her immense embarrassment. She shook her head before tightening the belt so it fit her perfectly. She had no intention of falling off when they went upside-down. She smiled happily when she felt she was all set. There weren't many seats left to be filled. The seat next to Terra was still open. She looked around hastily to see if there was anything she could hold on to when the humongous drop came and fond nothing except a small handlebar near the side. She smirked before deciding that she would be okay without something to grip. Looking up quickly when she heard a voice, Terra saw a boy about her age. She smiled and nodded.

"Sure. Sit down." She patted the seat next to her before fixing her gaze on him more intently. He looked familar...She shook her head and decided to think nothing of it. Instead she just wiggled her feet around in the air. Since the train had no footing her feet hung free. She smiled reassuringly at him. She wondered what he was doing here alone but didn't ask considering she was alone here too. Grinning in anticipation, she watched as the guy came around to check that they were all safely buckled in there seats. "Almost time," she whispered to herself as well as the boy. Turning to him she realized that she didn't know his name. "I'm Terra Carlson. What's your name?" she asked while holding out her hand. She noticed that it was trembling slightly. Why did she always get so nervous at the beginning of roller-coasters?

Talan shook Terra's hand. "Hi. Talan Salvo," he replied. He noticed her hand was shaking a little, and figured she was just nervous for the ride. The rides attendant gave the "okay signal," and they began their ascent up the giant hill.

Taking a second look at the girl, Talan was almost certain he had seen her before. He thought hard, trying to decide where she was from. Just then, he had one of those moments when he blurted something out without fully thinking it through. "Hogwarts!" he exclaimed loudly.

Instantly his face turned red with embarrassment and concern. A few muggles who were in front of him turned and looked at him. Some just gave confused looks while others looked at him as if he were crazy.

Talan looked straight ahead and said nothing. He was too embarrassed to look at Terra, so he just sat and watched as they slowly neared the peak of the track. However, in the back of his mind, he could have sworn he was right, and that Terra was also a Hogwarts student.

((sorry so short... its kinda hard to do much when you are on a roller coaster... they will get longer once we are on the ground again, i promise ;D))

Terra smiled at Talan. "Nice to meet you," she replied, before taking her hand back and wiping it on his jean shorts. They were slightly sweaty because she was so nervous. She cast a glance at Talan again before leaning back into her seat and taking deep, steady breaths to calm herself. She smiled at her own nervousness before turning to Talan quickly, surprise shining through her features. He had just practically shouted, "Hogwarts!" and now was looking rather embarrassed. Probably because of all the stares he was collecting. Terra frowned and tucked a strand of red hair behind her ear.

"You shouldn't be saying such things in company such as this," she told him softly before turning back. She looked down at the ground, which seemed so utterly far away. She swallowed hard before looking up for comfort. The ride had started to move and she shivered noticeably in her seat. She watched with fear as the ride neared the peak and then, suddenly, they were there. It seemed like forever as the train shifted down wards and then they were moving at top speed down the cliff. It was like falling. Terra screamed loudly and clutched whatever she could find, which happened to be Talan's arm. She was probably squeezing to so hard but she took no notice. The then moved straight foreword before going in a loop that sent them upside-down. They went through three of these. Then they went up again and down, did a small twirl and then began a steep incline only to be shunted off to the left and go down the small slope before they slowed and stopped at the station again. Terra's eyes were bright with excitement and she let go of Talan's arm quickly, so happy she didn't take heed of her embarrassment. She clapped her hands with delight before jumping out of her seat and onto the ground.

Her legs were slightly shaky after that frightening but extremely fun ordeal. She looked back at Talan before running off to the open space to get some fresh air. There she waited for Talan to come out.

Talan was a bit relieved to find that his assumption about Terra was correct, and that she knew about Hogwarts since she went there. However, he didn't have time to talk about it as the roller coaster was on its way. Throughout the twisting, looping ride Talan felt Terra grab his arm and cling to it. He laughed to himself, as he didn't mind. A few seconds later, the ride was finished, and they were back where they started.

Terra seemed thrilled, as she celebrated loudly when the ride stopped. She looked a bit woozy as she got to her feet. Talan then stood up and realized he too was a bit dizzy from the gravity of the coaster. He stumbled over to where Terra was waiting. "That was awesome!" he exclaimed. "My friends really missed out."

The line of people started to move as they exited. Talan looked around for his friends, but didn't see them anywhere. A bit depressed, he turned to Terra. "They left without me..." he explained. "... my friends, that is." He looked around again, and then back to Terra. "Well," he said, "If you are alone and don't mind, maybe I could hang out with you." He suddenly became more cheerful as he realized his situation wasn't as bad as he had thought. Waiting for Terra's answer, Talan couldn't believe he hadn't taken the time to get to know her better at school. She seemed like a very interesting girl, not to mention, pretty and nice too.

Terra smiled as Talan came out and walked up to her. He looked around before mentioning that his friends left. Terra nodded and put on her sunglasses, which she had kept in her pocket. She always laughed when she would look in the mirror at herself with them on because of the sharp contrast. They were so very dark against her pale skin. She cleaned them with her shirt before nodding once again. "I'm sorry. How come they walked out on you like that? Do you need a ride?" she asked, wondering if they had left with the car. She gazed at him, awfully concerned but confused when his disappointment seemed to leak away. She smiled just for fun too before putting her hands in her pockets.

"Yeah, sure. I don't mind if you stick around," she replied as she looked around the park. Which ride should they ride now? She was looking at the water slides now with deep interest, trying to locate the most fearsome. She grinned before turning back to him with a rather embarrassed expression. "Sorry I acted so....odd back there. I'm not usually like that. I must have had too much sugar." she smiled before adding, "and the rides. Their so wonderful I can't help but shed my shy demeanor." She meant it too. Usually she was shy and very thick but when something completely exciting happened, she would just loose herself. She coughed before looking up at the clear blue sky. Absolutely no clouds. She nodded before grabbing up Talan's hand and returning to her obnoxious other half.

"I'm going to the water-rides, how about you?" she asked while dragging him over. The park held water-rides and roller-coasters but it seemed like the two were different parks. A huge sign stood over the walkway to the water-rides, showing that everything past it would do with water. She tugged Talan to this sign before dropping his arm and looking at the posted map nearby. It had a map of all the water rides and where they were located. She smiled before motioning to Talan to come over. "Which one should we try?" she asked, giving him a chance to pick himself.

Talan was happy that Terra seemed to want him to come along with her. He figured she wouldn't mind, but didn't want to just push himself on her. She was a nice girl and he didn't want her to think he was inconsiderate.

He laughed to himself as she explained her current behavior. "That's cool," he replied. "It's always nice to just let it all out and have some fun once in a while." He looked at Terra and smiled. Without much time to do anything else, she grabbed his hand and drug him to the nearby sign that showed the entire water part of the park on it.

Terra insisted that he choose what slide to ride, so Talan glanced at the map and tried to find something interesting. "Hmmm..." he said, concentrating on the diagrams that were on the map. "How about that one!" he said enthusiastically. He was pointing to a slide located toward the back of the park. It was called 'The Serpent's Revenge,' and it looked rather wicked. "Think you can handle it?" he joked with Terra. "Looks like it might be a little too scary for you." He smiled and watched to see how she would respond to his sarcasm.

Terra smirked at Talan's sarcasm. "Ha! Me scared?" she said with a laugh. "Water-rides aren't nearly as thrilling as the rollor-coasters. I think I can handle it. That is, if you don't mind my holding onto your arm again." she winked. "I'm sorry if it's a vice-grip but I must do something when we go down the decline." she looked at the map and concentrated on the one Talan was pointing to. The Serpent's Revenge. Sounded interesting enough. Pulling away from the map she walked into the Park with much excitement. She was sure that Talan would follow, considering she hadn't grabbed his arm this time. She looked around before thinking back to the map. It had said that the ride was farther in the back.

"Gah! You make me walk so far and yet ask if I'll be scared? I won't have any strength left!" she teased while pulling back a stray strand of red hair. She wasn't sure if Talan heard her or not but she didn't have any time to dwell on it as they came to the ride. It was big and wide with many inclines and declines. That was what it was mostly about, considering you couldn't go in a loop. She walked on in and looked around. There was a huge line there, everyone shifting impatiently from one foot to the other. Terra soon intemidated them. "Oh, it's going to take forever to get on. This ride better be good." she told Talan with a glare. She wasn't really upset about it; usually if there was a long line that meant that the ride had been a smashing good hit.

Talan was glad that Terra was up for the water slide. He followed her through the busy park to the back where it was located. Terra made a comment about the long line, but Talan knew she was just giving him a hard time. He walked up to the line with her and waited patiently.

So far his time with Terra was awesome, and he enjoyed matching sarcasm with her. He leaned on one of the nearby rails that separated the long line and just looked at her. He couldn't stop himself from staring, and he was amazed that he had never got to know her before.

The line started toward the stairs where they would start their climb to the top. Without thinking, Talan grabbed Terra's hand and led her to the steps. Once the line stopped moving, he didn't let go.

Terra glared down at the ground with her arms across her chest. This would take forever! She wouldn't think much of it if the ride was the best but if it was one of those baby ones, she would make sure Talan got the brunt of her frustration. She shifted a small pebble on the ground, kicking it so it hit the wall with a small thud that she thought only she could hear. Talan was quiet and when Terra looked up to question him about it, she saw that he was staring at her. She suddenly became self-conscious and ran her hand through her mess of red hair. Why was he staring at her? Couldn't he just.....look at something else? She sighed and made herself look away from him, turning her back toward his eyes. The line began moving and only then did Terra turn to move up with it. Suddenly, she felt a hand slip through her own. She looked down quickly to see Talan holding her hand. She blushed and looked away, her shyness returning in great waves. When he didn't let go, Terra let herself loosen a little. She gazed back at him and then away quickly until she could handle it no more.

"Um...You can let go now. We aren't on the ride yet." she said trying to make a joke. In her own ears it sounded just as weak as it must have to Talan. She waited, shifting wait from one foot to the other to see if Talan would let go, her emotions swirling through her head in one great rush of confusion.
