She rather enjoyed the steady clicking noise her heels made against the stone floor when the halls were empty. The noise was solitary, and echoed through the vast abandoned space in a strong steady rhythm. She had long decided that there were few sounds she enjoyed more in the world. There were perhaps few would understand her reasonings, but she cared not. The sound was full of purpose and drive--and that reminded her of herself. Sadly though, there were few times curring the course of a day when the halls of the castle were empty enough to produce the sound. Early in the morning before her fellow students had risen from the beds, late at night, to close to curfew for most to venture out, and during classes when all the students trying to follow the arbitrary rules forced upon them at this horrendous place of further education were at their lessons. Today, it was the wee morning hours that were her time for a quiet stroll down the halls, away from the common room where students would slowly be trudging through on the way to the Great Hall, which would be crowded with mudblood filth within an a couple of hours.
She walked no where in particular, per purpose was simply to walk away from the crowds of her fellow students, most of which were a waste of space and air. Her walks were almost always solitary, and there were very few occasions when she ran into a fellow student, let alone one who she actually cared to converse with. This particular morning though, she heard something. Someone else was walking, and by the sound of it, it was a member of the opposite sex.
As she walked, she did not turn to follow the sound, instead she made a careful note of the noise and the direction it was coming from. She did not need to look and see who was nearing in order to be aware of them.

"WILL YOU SHUT UP YOU INCESSANT TALKING, OVERGROWN RAT!!!!!" Pyro's boot went twirling into the air. Kojak, Pyro's Jarvey, managed to scuttle off the table and dodge the show. Kojak resembled a ferret in ever since, except for the fact that he was much larger than a common muggle ferret. Another feature that came with a Jarvey that didn't come with a ferret. A Jarvey could talk. Only, there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to its sentences aside from trying to insult its listener.
Pyro couldn't understand why his father had sent him this useless pet. All Kojak did was sit on that table or on the bedpost and call Pyro every name under the sun. Pyro's dormate's began to stir around him after his yell and he had no wish to be around when they did wake up. Getting dressed quickly he left the dorm. Not noticed that Kojak was following at his heels.
This routine wasn't new to him. He had been walking up the past few days and exiting the common room to roam the halls before anyone else was awake. He enjoyed the peace and quiet the halls provided at this time of the morning. It gave him a chance to relax and to think, and he had a lot to think about it. It seemed that when he finally got one issue resolved, another one would just suddenly spring up. It had seemed like he had just gotten his being disowned problem out of the way when the death of Cass's guardians had sprung up.
"Stupid little twit!" This tore Pyro out of his thoughts. He growled in anger. He knew that voice well. "Kojak!" He said low in his throat and wheeled on him, but Kojak had already disappeared. Pyro turned and continued his walk. It was now that a new sound drifted to his ears. The sound of footsteps. "hmm?" Pyro perched his ears. They were close, up ahead and around the bend. The footsteps were light, either a small person or a girl. What was someone else doing up at this time? Pyro thought he was the only one.
Pyro rounded the corner and spotted Danika Yakov approaching. Pyro remembered her well. They had had an interesting conversation. He had left that conversation and for once, did not know the others feelings toward him. He decided to leave her alone for now. He had his issues and she had hears. Best to leave her at them. "Stinky slob." Came a retort from behind him and his anger exploded. "I'm gonna kill you rat!" He roared and whirled around, wand in hand. Kojak took off. He ran along the floor, dodging this way and that. Pyro followed him and was just about to fire away when suddenly, his wand was pointed directly at Danika's face. "Whoa!"
Pyro pulled back a split second before he fired the spell. Kojak had run up the wall and used Danika as a shield. The temporary pause that caught Pyro was just enough time for Kojak to slip around the corner and be gone once more. Pyro looked at the corner. "Damn." He whispered under his breath. That rat was gonna get him in some deep trouble later in life.

The sound of insults filled the air and after a moment proved to be louder than she sound of her steady steps. She stopped her stride and crossed her arms in front of her chest as she waited for the culprits of the noise to make themselves visible. She waited only a moment before she saw him. His name was Pyro, and they had a rather intriguing run-in the previous year and she had yet to decide exactly how she felt about the now fourth year. He certainly was not completely unworthy of her time, but the exactly amount of time she was willing to give him she had not decided yet. He was approaching her, though his attention was on something other than her, and he continued to sputter insults. She remained still, letting his temper play itself threw, though she raised an eyebrow as se watched. Even when his wand pointed at her, she remained the same, except for her eyes which clouded over from the honey-brown to a deep charcoal—her way of letting him know his wand was to drop immediately.
She stayed still for a long moment after his wand was down and he spoke his final words. Her eyes slowly faded back to their normal color, and she shook her head at his actions. “You know, you shouldn’t let that temper get to better of you. It will get you into trouble one day.” She let her arms uncross, and one hand landed on her hip as she glanced over the boy, trying to recall what she could from their last encounter. She remembered it had been breakfast, and she had been unable to stand the crowd of mudbloods in the Great Hall, which was not an uncommon occurrence. She had all but given up going to class entirely due to the fact the smell of their dirty blood was completely intolerable. Her gaze stayed steadily upon him for some time, as the details of him seemed to come slowly. She had only remembered the important things form their encounter, and other, less meaningful accounts of that morning has faded to a part of her memory she rarely referred back to. “Its been a while, hasn’t it?” she finally said, her voice cool and steady, and deep with her Slavic accent.

Pyro's eyes lingered at the corner Kojak had disappeared around. He heard a familiar voice reach his ears. During all the excitement he had forgotten that he wasn't alone in the corridor. "Yea, it might." He said quietly not looking at Danika. He slowly turned and looked at her, blinking suddenly as he remembered exactly who it was he was now sharing a corridor with. It took him a couple of seconds to remember their last meeting. It had been breakfast, they had moved out of the hallway because that they had been overflowing with mudbloods and they needed some fresh air. He shook his head in amazement every time he thought of that conversation. He was usually pretty good at reading people, knowing their exact reaction to his actions, but Danika was a slippery character. He never could quite tell what her reaction would be.
He grinned slightly and tucked his wand away. "Well, it might get me into trouble, but it well never get me into trouble I won't find my way out of." He said with a slight smirked. He sighed and stretched his arms a bit. "Anyway, sorry about the whole wand thing. I never would have guessed that rat would be able to create a strategy like that." He chuckled slightly. In fact it actually had been a long time. Sometime around the middle of last year. Pyro placed his hands into his pockets loosely and looked at her and nodded slightly. "Yea, it has been awhile. What brings you out here this early?"
