Tristan sat in the great hall and gazed up at the cieling, eyes slowly opening and closing with fatigue. The clouds up there were black as night, every now and then brilliant lighting veined the sky and the heavy rain outside could bee seen falling, falling. This kind of weather did two things to Tristan. It excited him, he loved to watch a storm, but it also limited him to the confinds of the castle. At the moment Tristan was torn between both and as he gazed up there to the sky and wondered what wopuld happen if he went outside he noticed a group of Grfyffindors enter the hall and returned his gaze to the interior of the hall. The massive fires around the hall were ablaze to combat the cold weather and and all the torches were lit to combat the darkness caused by the dreary weather outside.
Students sat at their house tables and chatted, joked, laughed and ate. Tristan looked at the students at his table and noticed somthing funny. They were all wearing black hogwarts robes with Gryffindor crests. A second later Tristan realised in his tired state he hadn't noticed that when he sat down at the table he had sat at the Gryffindor house table. He was about to get up when a friendly face bounced into view and sat next to him at the table.

Athena stumbled into the hall, still half-asleep, blearily peering out through tired eyes, scrubbing at them with her fists. She walked towards the Gryffindor table, leaning over to swipe a mug of coffee on the way, much to the owner's dismay. She gulped half of the warm life-giving liquid down, continuing on her path to her usual seat, then downed the rest of it, leaving the mug next to an unsuspecting Hufflepuff. She spotted a familiar face on the Gryffindor table and headed towards it, a confused, but happy smile on her face. She plonked herself down next to him, trying to fix the knot on her tie. "Tristan!!! What are you doing here? Not that I'm not glad to see you or anything, but I thought you were a Ravenclaw." She frowned down at her tie, fiddling with it for a few moments, then pulled it off completely, setting it down on the table between her and Tristan. She smiled at him again, fixing herself another mug of coffee and two crumpets spread with butter and honey. "I had the weirdest dream last night." Athena said, taking a bite from a crumpet. She chewed and swallowed, then continued. "The moon was made of cheese, and a whole heap of centaurs were dancing in a circle around me, all saying, 'The moon is unsually cheddar tonight...' it was weird. Especially the part where they danced. I'm not sure that centaurs can even dance..." Athena glanced up at the ceiling. "Lovely day, isn't it?"

"I am so tired." Tristan moaned, "I must have sat down at this table by mistake... well not I really can't be bothered to get up." Tristan poured himself a cup of coffee from a golden pitcher in the centre of the table. He took a sip of the hot beverage and felt energy running through his veins. Now he knew why Athen spoke so highly of coffee. He had of course drunk it before but never when he was so tired. And now he felt so energised. He looked on the huge platter in front of him and grabbing so serving utensil's he piled his plate with bacon, eggs, sausages, toast and a hash brown from the platter. He was suddenly starved.
"That reminds me," Tristan said, indicating toward the tie with one hand, "I forgot to put mine on. I'll have to go and fetch it." Tristan usually didn't forget little details like this, but today was different. He had been up so late last night during the storm in the common room. His homework load was getting enormous so he had decided to finish it last night. Unfortunately after he had finished an obnoxious boy called Karmik Kiester had joined him and the night hadn't ended on a happy note. Tristan began to tuck into the breakfast with new found gusto and as he ate he decided that he would brave the weatehr outside. Looking up towards the sky he noticed that the rain had become snow. He loved walkin in the snow. It was somhow magical and he wanted to take advantage of today. It was not often hogwarts recieved snow during spring.
"What do you say we go for a walk outside. Yes, yes I know you hate the cold, but a girl called lavender showed me a charm that makes a magical fire burn inside a Jar. She said she had seen ity done before by one of her housemates and If we have one each we should be fine. The groud is wet but now that it's snowing we wont get wet. Of course..." Tristan flinched as a lighting illumanated the hall with a firece light and was followed by a bellowing boom of thunder. "Well ... are you still up for it?"

Athena frowned. "Well... if the charm works, sure... but if it gets too cold, I'm going to go back in. You weren't joking when you said I hate the cold." She grabbed another mug of coffee, and tossed her tie over her shoulder, then stood. "You coming?" She asked over her shoulder to her still-seated friend. "Maybe we can find some unsuspecting Slytherins to throw snow-balls at." She grinned mischievously.

Tristan quickly placed all the contents of his plate into a massive sandwich of toasted bred and followed Athen towards the door and then through it. "Accio Jars" He mumbled through a mouthfull of breakfast sandwich and within seconds two large jars flew towards him. he cought them both and a few minutes later the pair were walking out the large entrance door into the hogwarts grounds, fire jars in hand. The snow fell thickly now. giving Tristan white hair, eyebrows and eyelashed. "hohoho!" He laughed as they made there way down a fine gravel path towards the quidditch pitch.

Athena laughed. "It's a pity you're not in Gryffindor - you could pass for Santa Claus! Okay, well, maybe you'd need a few pillows 'round your waist... and a black belt... and boots... and a toy sack... but apart from that... oh, and red cheeks. And wrinkles. But, apart from that, you're the spitting image." Athena wrapped her hands tighter around the jar, shivering slightly. "Should've brought my coat." She muttered, annoyed with herself. Peeling one hand off the jar, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her wand. "Accio cloak!" She cried, and her cloak came flying from her dorm in the Gryffindor Common Room. She wrapped the black cloak around herself and sighed, already feeling better. She grinned at her friend, then stooped down, grabbing a fistful of snow, hurling it at him. "Catch me if you can!" She laughed, dodging away from him and taking off at a run.

"You little-" Tristan had seen Athen scoop up the snow but had no time to finish his sentence before the snow hit him hard in the face. He watched as Athen sprinted away towards the frozen lake, "YOUR DEAD!" he yelled after her and began to print after her, as he ran he held one hand down towards the snow and scooped up a hand full. the perfect snowball. After about two minutes Tristan cought up with Athena and pelted the snow ball at her before loosing his footing and slipping over and sliding about ten metres. Why was he sliding? Shouldn't he have just fallen? It was then that Tristan rwalised he was sliding along the frozen lake. He got to his feet and pulled out his wand, "Accio ice skates!" He cried and within minutes he was wearing his new black iceskates. now he had a definant advantage. He skated around the lake and went to the edge to gather up a snowball before hurling it in Athena's Direction. "Damn..." he thought, "She's gonna kill me now" and with that he bagan to skate further towards the centre of the lake.

Athena glared over her shoulder at her friend, turning to face him, jogging backwards and retorting, "I'm not little! Nor am I short! I'm just... vertically challenged!" Athena realised Tristan had his own snowball, and turned around, picking up her pace. She dodged trees on the grounds, laughing. Bending low to the ground she scooped up two handfuls of snow, flinging them randomly over her shoulders on the off-chance that they would hit him. Athena felt a hard, well-made snowball slam in between her shoulder blades and laughed, slipping a little and finding herself lying in the snow, holding herself up with her right hand. She laughed even harder when she saw that Tristan had slipped onto the lake. Seeing that he had summoned his ice-skates, Athena pulled out her wand and summoned her own silver and purple ones. She sat down into the snow, pulling on the brand-new skates and tottered onto the lake. "Play nice!" She called out to her already skating friend. "I only learned how to use these things last winter." Another snowball smashed into her chest, knocking her back onto her butt in the snow just behind her. She squawked with outrage as she realised that the back of her pants were cold and wet. She muttered a drying spell, and a heating charm, then laughed as Tristan skated towards the centre of the rink, avoiding her. She started off towards him doggedly, trying to get into the rhythm and to the middle without collapsing. "Oh, you're going down, Wardle! Watch and see!"

"I'd like to see that happen!" Tristan yelled over his shoulder, watching AthenA[/i] take her first tentative strides onto the ice. It was when Tristan realised he actually wouldn't like that to happen when he heared a scream behind him.

Athena screamed as she felt her ankle rock unsteadily on the skate. Her foot flew out from underneath her and a sickening crack came as she landed awkwardly on her ankle. Pain shot up from her foot as she tried to shift it out from under her. She whimpered slightly. "Tris..." She gritted out through her teeth. "I think I need Madame Pomfrey." She winced again, her hands clutching her left ankle, as if trying to squeeze the pain out. Athena forgot all about the cold, and the skates and the snowball fight with Tristan. All there was was pain. She tried, semi-successfully, to block the pain away.

Athena stared unseeingly at the boy, her face contorted in pain, her mind elsewhere. She closed her eyes briefly, hoping that the pain would disappear. When she finally opened them again she noticed the boy. "Please. Pomfrey." She gritted out through her teeth, focusing on his face.

Tristan saw Athena fall onto the ice like a sack of potatos and heard the crack of what sounded like her bone snapping. He skated over to her as fast as he could when he heard her call for him. Noticing another boy standing near her Tristan wondered where he had come from. The boy certainly hadn't made himself known before a few seconds ago. Tristan dismissed the boy as unimportant with a slight shake of his head and skated past him to his friend. Her face was screwed up and he could tell she was fighting to hold back tears. He heard her moan, "Please, Pomfrey." and bent down to pick her up. He fell over onto the ice. Athena was a keen student of the martial arts and her muscle, although hard to see at first, weighed a lot. "Wingardium Leviosa!" He cried and her body began to float in mid-air in front of him. Using his wand to steer the direction in which Athena was travelling through the air Tristan skated back towards the castle leaving the two jars of fire behind on the ice. He tranfigured his skates into running shoes and sprinted up the front steps of the castle. Pulling the door open he hurred into the castle and watched the heavy oak slam into the door frame, narrowly missing Athena's head. He glanced at her. She appeared to be unconscious, he couldn't tell for sure. He ran across the entrance hall, still leading her along and up the grand stqaircase to the fourth floor where he finally stapped at the door to the infirmary. knock knock knock... no answer. Tristan was about to give up hope when he noticed a sixth year girl from Gryffindor house round a corridor and walk swiftly towards him. ((I thought I'd add lavender to this post since she needs a post and more characters would be interesting ))
