Cass scribbled the note quickly as she placed the bag down at her feet. She was tired, but it was going to be worth it once it was over with. This had to be the craziest thing she had ever done. Flitting off in the middle of the night to steal a book full of dark magic. She remembered touching the black volume with her fingers. It seared her flesh and she had some pretty serious burns on her hands. Finishing her note, she looked down at it.
Pyro, meet me. Fifteen minutes in the Room of Requirement. Very important!
She tied it to Hemingway's leg and let him fly out of the window with it. Looking down at her hand one last time, she noticed that it was beginning to whelt up. Damn! she thought to herself. This is so going to scar.
She had snuck out of the castle and paid a visit to her Caiest's parents home. The Chosen had decided to blackmail her friend for it, and that wasn't something Cass could stand by and watch. Even worse, she found out another of her friend's, Pyro, was in on the deal. So, taking matters into her own hands, she broke into the home of Caiest's parents and stole the tome.
Finally taking the book out her bag, she made sure that the black clothe was wrapped tightly and securely around it. Finally getting to the Room of Requirment, she paced three times in front of it and entered. The room was sparsely decorated, with only a table and two red wingback chairs in the middle of it. Sighing, she walked over to one and sat down. She was now waiting to confront her friend about this situation.

Pyro lay on his bed in his dorm. His arms were folded behind his head and his eyes were shut. He wasnt asleep but he was getting close to that. He was just about to fall asleep when a commotion broke out down in the common room. Pyros eyes opened and he looked at the ceiling for a second. With a growl he rolled off his bed and moved towards the door, wanting to see what was going on. He opened the door and recieved a face full of feathers. Pyro stumbled backwards as a owl flew into the dorm and landed on his bed. How had did that owl get all the way down here? He thought to himself as he untied the note on its leg and sent it off.
Pyro read the note quickly. It was from Cass. What could be so important? He droped the note and quickly grabed his black cloak and put it on. He walked into the common room. He offered no explanation about the owl that was standing in front of the wall. Pyro moved to the wall and it open to reveal a archway. The owl took off immediatly and Pyro moved out into the hall and made his way towards the room of requirment.
He reached the spot and stood there for awhile. He thought about a conversation with Cass and soon a door appeared. Pyro opened the door and stepped inside. Sure enough, there was Cass. The room held a table and a pair of chairs. Cass sat in one and the other was empty on the other side of the table. Pyro had the strange feelign that that chair was ment of him. He stepped up to it but didnt take a seat. He looked down at her. "You wanted to talk to me?"

Cass looked up as Pyro entered the room. Here goes nothing, she thought to herself.
She pointed to the book that was lying on the table. She looked up at him. She really didn't think he was capable of doing something like this. However, he was a Slytherin, and his true colors were starting to show through more often than not.
She stared him dead in the face. " Why did you do it, Pyro? Why? Was it really worth it? Was it really worth to betray a friend, for that?" She pointed at the black clothed book on the table.

Pyro looked down at the table. There was a book laying there. It was wraped in dark cloth. Pyro looked back at Cass and noticed she was staring him dead in the face. It was at that moment she spoke to him.
He was surprised at her tone, but something about it already told him what he was going to find under the black cloth. Ignoring her statement for the moment he reached down and grabed the cloth and removed it from the book. He had never seen the book, but Cedric had described it and it wasnt that hard to mistake it.
It would seem Caiest didn't didnt know how to keep business matters quiet. Hed have to inform Cedric and than deal with Caiest later. He looked at Cass, his expression cold and uncaring. "I dont see how a sparring match in a abondandend classroom makes one a 'friend'." He looked down at the book. "And I believe that this item was worth the trouble. One could draw a lot of power from it." His gaze went back to Cass. "You've been on my good side Cass. No Mudblood has had that previlage. I suggest you stay there by keeping out of matters that don't concern you."

Cass stared at Pyro in disbelief. " Power?! Is that all you think about?! Staying in power? Do you actually think when you give this book to your group of cronies that you will actually ever see it again? I seriously doubt it."
Sighing and shaking her head, "And it has been my privilege to be your friend? You act like I've won a war! Don't forget how our relationship started, Pyro! You just can't go around blackmailing people! You need to start remembering who your real friend's are because I seriously doubt your little group will be around you when you really get into trouble."
She was calling it like she saw it. Pyro really needed to sort out his priorities. She rounded on him once again. "And please, don't tell me what is and is not my business. Two of my best friends are attacking each other and it's none of my business? Of course it is my business. I had to do something I didn't want to do to keep them from destroying each other." She stared at him accusingly. " Don't you dare and go blame Caiest for this. I did this all on my own. I got the book. I brought it here. If you want to take any of your anger out, you need to do it to me."
Her eyes narrowed, " If you and your group of wannabee Queens want to continue to do your dirty work, I suggest you start watching what you doing. Because even though I know I will get in trouble too, I don't mind going to McGonogall or Dumbledore about this. The worst they will due to me is modify my memory and send me back to the muggle world, but you will have to live with this sort of shame everyday of your life."

He snarled at her. "Power is all that anybody can have!!! Whether it be violent power or influenzial power. Everyone needs it to get by in the world. I have lost a lot of avenues to power and I must take what I can." He couldn't help but smirk. "And you are overestimating a Slytherins treacher. I far will the group go if it starts to swindle its members early on? Huh? They wouldn't sell me out short, atleast not this early on in the game. And if they ever did, I'd be smart enough to catch wind and get out myself."
He leaned over and placed his hands on the table. "My reall friends? Well Cass, why dont you tell me who my real friends are than. For I have a very limited supply of them." He gave a 'oh please' kind of look to her next comment. Ofcourse the Chosen would stand by him, he stood by them so ofcourse they would return the favor. He didnt bother to tell her that. She wouldnt understand and than this would go on all night.
He looked evenly at her. "Dont tell you its not your business? Well, it isnt. Me and Caiest have yet to attack each other. In fact, every since the incident she hasn't been talking to me so I see it as a win-win situation." He gave her a cold look. "You may have the book, and if you refuse to hand it over than I will have to deal with you, but as for Caiest, she wasn't suppose to get anyone else involved. I will let Cedric decide her fate."
At her next comment his face became extremely calm and a smirk crossed his face. It was a evil and cold smirk. He sat down at the char so he was level with Cass and looked dead into her eyes and spoke in a low and threatening tone. "What makes you think I would allow you to get to McGonagall or some other professor? Hmm? And even if you do make it to them, wheres your proof" He looked down at the book. "That? I highly doubt it, that alone is just a ratty book with some very illegal spells in it. With that out all there is yours and Caiests words. No professor would listen to a story like this."

Cass' eyes narrowed at Pyro. Well, we will just see about that.
Cass pulled her wand out of her robes. " Accio!" The book flew off the table and into her hands. She stood up and walked toward the back of the room. " I don't know who your real friends are, but I was starting to consider myself as one. Are was I mistaken?" Making sure to prop the book in her bandaged hand, not wanting to burn it again.
" This book is not harmless. It nearly burned my hand off picking it up for the first time." Finally tiring of this game, she targeted her wand to a spot on the floor and conjured a fire. Walking over to is, she held the book over the fire. " Well, if it is frivilous, then I guess you want mind if I drop it here?"

Pyro watched her pulled out her wand and he took out his in return. She summoned the book towards her and backed up. She made some fire and held the book over it.
He narrowed his eyes at her and pointed his wand at the book. If she wanted to test him, hed test her right back. "Alright drop it. I dare you. Just remember, if that book has so much power it burns you at teh slightest touch, imagine what it will do if you droped it in the fire."

Damnit! How in the hell does he outsmart me like that sometimes? she thought to herself. She saw his smug grin, and so wanted to hit him over the face. " Well, maybe your right, but what makes you think I won't do it? Remember, I'm nothing more than a rash Gryffindor." She raised her eyebrow, almost daring her to drop it. However, she knew she wouldn't drop it. She was afraid of what would happen if she did drop it.
Changing her mind, she pulled the book back towards her, holding it close to her chest just like she did with her school books. She continued to hold her wand out, afraid to death. She wasn't going to attack, he was Pyro, but she was going to protect herself if she had to.
" Pyro, I don't want to fight you, but I won't mind taking you out if I have too." Walking around the room, still facing toward Pyro, she made her way to the door.

Pyro smirked as he saw that his words had cast some doubt and fear into her actions. In truth he really doubted that the book would do more than just burn if it were droped, but she was afraid to drop it now and thats exactly what he wanted. She still held the book above the fire but he could see in her eyes that she wasnt going to drop it.
She pulled the book back and into her arms and Pyros wand followed. Still pointed at the book. She still had her wand pointed at him but he wasnt worried. Even if she did decide to attack him. He was confident that she would be unsure and the attack would be hesitant. Giving him more than enough time to Dodge away and counterattack.
Cass than began to walk. She was trying to circle around him and get to the door. He couldnt allowe that. He backed away and stood blocking the door. "Likewise, but look at the facts. I can beat you, and you know that. A fight between us will result in you getting hurt, or worse. So just hand over the book and it will all work out."

Cass didn't want it to come down to this. Honestly, she had just meant to give the book to Pyro, and get Caiest out of the clear. Pyro just had to threaten her. Why couldn't he just make a clean trade?
Calming down, and finally deciding that she was going to defend herself. " Pyro, I don't want to do this but...Expoximise Plancher!" She waved her wand at Pyro. Knowing that Pyro would be stuck to the spot with this spell, she still kept her wand trained on him. She had to stop him because she would be unable to win in a physical fight against him.

The attack was a surprise to him. He definatly did not expect her to make the first move. Luckilly for him she had given him a clear warning. As soon as the word 'but' left her lips he was moving. He dove to the side "Incendio!" he cried, wand pointed at Cass.
He nearly had her spell evaded, but it still got one of his shoes. His dive was cut short and he started to fall early. He pointed his wand down at his stuck shoe. "Incendio!" His laces burst into flame, opening the shoe immediatly. He fell out of his shoe and rolled on the floor.
In mid roll he let his free hand slip behind his back and into his belt. He pulled out one of the vials set there. He rolled to his feet and smirked at Cass. He marked her position and threw the vial at the ground. The vial shattered and thick smoke began to fill the room. Now he and Cassandra were blind. Pyro charged her position, running at a slight left arc. He reached the spot she was standing at and did a sidelong kick aimed at where he waist should be.

Cass' eyes widened in surprise as Pyro let the smoke screen drop. The greyness swept around her in a hurry, and she became disorientated quickly. " Impedimentia!" she cried, taking a shot in the dark to hit Pyro. Hearing steps to her right, she moved to her left to avoid what was coming next. Heading towards what she thought was the door, she hit a solid wall. Thank god, she thought. She moved her hand up and down the wall to hopefully find the handle.
Swallowing she cried, " I'll give you the book, Pyro. You just have to give me your word that you and your group will leave Caiest alone!"

Pyro let a growl escape him as his foot caught nothing but air. She had moved. No doubt she was moving in confusion and had not idea where she was. No worries, he would find her and she wouldnt get far.
He listened and heard footsteps and a dull thud. Followed later by the sound of Cass's voice. Pyro turned to face her and charged forward. There was a shift in the smoke and Pyro saw a grey and blurry form up ahead.
Pyro came up behind it and grabed ahold of what he thought was a shoulder and he pushed it against the wall. "Oh really? Well, I dont see why not, we werent planning on doing anything else to Caiest after we got the book. Alright, Ill give my word that we wont touch Caiest if you hand over the book."

Cass gave a bit of a whelp as Pyro grabbed her shoulder and pushed her into the wall. Fortunately for her, she put her hands up just in time to cushion the the push. However, her wrist was hurting. It was obvious it was sprained. The book was now pinned between her chest and the wall, and it was making it hard fo her to breath. The thick smoke wasn't helping the matter either.
Starting to huff a bit, she said, " Your going to have to let me go, Pyro. You don't have any reason not to trust my word, your the only dirty one here." She said this last part with a snarl.

Pyro was about to let her go, but than she decided to add a insult into the mix. With a snarl himself he shoved her into the wall harder before wrenching her off the wall and spinning her around and shoved her back into the wall again.
The smoke had started to disapear so the two could easily see each other eye to eye. Pyro got really close to her face and spoke in a harsh whisper. "Yea, I may be dirty in this situation, but atleast I wont ever be as low and dirty as a filthy mudblood.
He reached out and grabed the book. Making sure to grab it on one of the covered sections. He wrenched it out of her hands. He steped back from her. He looked down at the book and wrapped it completly and hooked it under his arm. He looked at his stuck shoe and frowned and kicked off the shoe he was still wearing. He gave one more look at Cass and than turned and headed to the door. "Pleasure doing business with you."

Cass wasn't used to be handled so roughly, but she took it. Angered at his last comment, she smarled at him one last time. Pulling her wand out, she pointed it at him determinatevely. Without a word, she commanded, " Flippendo!" This was probably done with too much force.

Pyro was nearly at the door when he heard Cass behind him. "Flippendo!" He tried to dive to the side but the spell hit him in the shoulder. His body fliped sideways in the air and than he crashed to the ground.
He landed on his side and growled. He droped the book and it slid partly away from him. Snarling he rolled over to face her. He pointed his wand at her. "Incendio!!" After launching the spell he climbed to his feet. "You just had to do that didnt you! You would have gotten away from her scott free!"

" Protego!" Cass cried, and Pyro's spell bounced off of it. " How dare you insult me like that?! I never would of done that to you. Even through all your family crap, I never held that against you!" Fury was written all over her face.
She swallowed Pyro. " Look, you have so changed. What is your problem?!"

He walked over and retrieved the book. Listening to her as he went. He picked up the book and looked at her.
"Yea, I have changed. No longer am I a weak little Muggle lover. I'm finaly opening my eyes and acting like a true Slytherin. So do me a favor and stay out of the way!"
