Melody set down her case on the desk of the disused classroom and flicked her wand, causing the music stand to fly open. She rather liked it actually. It was multicoloured, bright and varied, rather like Melody's own personality. Walking up to it she adjusted its height manually, before flicking open the fasteners on the black case and opening it to withdraw her silver flute, resting in the dark, velvety lining. She always rather envied it there. It looked so comfortable.
"Reight, almost ready," Melody said to herself, bouncing on the tips of her toes. She waved her wand to fasten her hair up into one rather messy, plaited ponytail and moved over to open the casement window. This was one of the older windows in the school, and one of the least used ones - you could tell by the strength you had to use to push it open. Once Melody had succeeded, a strong breeze swept through the room, sweeping her sheet music off the chair she had left it on. That shouldn't be happening, Melody thought worriedly, sticking her hand out of the window. There was hardly any breeze outside, yet when it passed through that window, it seemed to become very strong. She could tell, because of the change of pressure on her hand at different points, the fact her plaited ponytail was still being swept up by the breeze and the sheet music was still fluttering around the room. She dismissed it and put it out of her mind. Such strange anomalies did occur in Hogwarts.
It would be annoying for getting the music to stay though. Melody held it firmly onto the stand and then stuck it there with a simple charm. She picked up her flute and warmed up with a few scales before leafing through her music to find what she wanted. there it was. Melody from Thais. She smiled at the title, and also at the prospect of playing the music. Putting her flute to her lips once again, she started to play the haunting melody she loved so much. Such a peaceful sound, almost like trickling water. Soothing to the soul.
