Dana entered the ball-room that Hogwarts had in the southern wing of the castle on third floor. It was a pretty place, meant for balls and having talked with the staff about holding a Valentine Day’s party there with friends, Dana had been allowed to use the room with a warning that if anything would happen, she would be held responsible. Dana had been in the room from the morning, decorating it with ribbons and setting up games and music. She could have done most of it with her wand in mere minutes, but Dana preferred to work herself from time to time on details like these. And in the end the ball-room looked fantastic, with a small table with snacks and cakes and fruits and drink at one side.
Being finally satisfied with the outlook of the room, Dana excited the ballroom, to prepare the masks and clothes. Transfiguring a table next to the door with huge mask, that would cover one’s whole face, Dana added a sign to them, that everyone coming to the party would be required to wear one of the masks. That way everybody could dance and talk with everyone until the masks would be removed around mid-night. Casting a prank charm on the door, Dana smirked, hoping that no one had worried too much about their clothes/costume and make-up. The make-up would be covered with the mask, and for the costume was the charm she had just preformed on the door.
Grinning Dana stepped through the door and laughed loudly at the mirror reflection that greeted her now. The charm altered one’s clothes to express their mood to everybody else, even though you yourself couldn’t see the difference unless in a mirror. And the clothes started to appear normal to others once again after walking through the door again. Dana had been dressed into red shorts, that left her long legs bare and a white top with a red heart on the front and thick red socks with small white hearts. It also looked as if she had passed under a red confetti shower, as small heart-shaped rosettes were stuck to her hair and clothes. The outcome was happy, bright and that bad actually.
Dana grinned as a good song started playing threw her arms up and after putting on her red mask, started dancing to the music, waiting for other people to make an appearance.
((OOC: Thank you Jordan for hte masks idea and thank you JAsmine for telling me about it!))

Kris grabbed a white mask with a long feather over it, but using his Nimbus 2000, flew to the ball-room, where Dana was having the party. Kris knew about Dana’s plan to charm the door, so he had decided to avoid it. He was the only one though. Flying in through the open window, Kris grinned seeing Dana’s costume. Looked like she herself had used the door to make her clothes appear different. Kris grinned – he had altered from his regular black silk-pants and was today wearing white ones and a light-green silk-blouse, but the outcome was good enough for the party.
Putting his broom away into a corner, so it wouldn’t get harmed, Kris smiled and stepping quietly forward, put his hand around Dana’s waist dancing as her partner. Kris grinned and winked at Dana – there was no chance those two would ever not recognize each other. “Nice outfit. Happy friends-day, dear sis!” Kris told Dana with a wink.

Dana smiled as she felt a strong hand wrap around her waist and smiled at Kris without even opening her eyes. There would be only one person who could join her in the middle of these dance-moves so swiftly. Finishing the dance Dana opened her eyes and smiled at Kris, even though she noticed he hadn’t came through the door: “Ti amo, brother. And happy friends-day!”
Dana smiled – Kris was more as a cousin and a soul-mate than a cousin and the feeling was mutual even though Kris didn’t express it quite that often. Kissing quickly Kris’s cheek… or actually the cheek of his mask before she noticed that someone else had probably just entered the room, so Dana grinned and turned towards the person and made bowed with laughter: “Welcome to the Valentine’s Day party! Come in and enjoy yourself!”
Faith couldn't believe it. She was actually early!
She chose a mask from the table, a deep, blood red with sequins surrounding the eyes and glanced round the door. Only Kris and Dana were in the room. She gave them both a hidden smile as the latter greeted her and stepped through the door.
At once her whole appearance changed. Faith gawped as she looked down at her clothes (becoming increasingly glad that her mask was hiding her expressions).
Her basic jeans and top were gone and replaced with a gaudy scarlet ball-dress, sparkling with thousands of sequins and complete with a long and highly-unnecesary train. Faith laughed.
"That," She said to Dana,"Is just evil!"
She twirled round, smiling.
"So if your outfit says you're happy then I must be...tacky? Right?"

Dana smiled looking at Faith’s dress. It was surprisingly high-class for such a regular party, but it was pretty. “No, not tacky. Elegant is the word rather,” Dana told Faith, bouncing over happily and grabbing Faith’s hand pulled the other girl further into the ballroom, “Don’t worry, it’s just an appearance – your clothes haven’t changed in reality – they just look like this until you step through the door again.”
Grinning wickedly Dana bowed: “And thank you very much. It was one of my best ideas, if I may say so myself. But I figured it would bring life and colors to the party.”
Dana laughed and spinning over and grapping a grape from the snacks table, twirled back to the dance-floor, where she started moving to the music, while sending a dazzling smile to Faith from behind her mask: “Come on, dance! This party is meant to enjoy yourself and loosen up. You are allowed to try and guess who everybody are, but you may NOT ask. I have a hex to let me know, when someone tells their identity before midnight, when the masks are removed and it won’t be pretty!”
Dana laughed and twirled, swaying her hips to the music and noticing that the next person had entered: “HI! Come on in!”
((OOC: Oi, if only Jasmine told me you went along with it, *hits Jasmine over the head*)) Jordan smiled, twisted her hair up, and clipped it, leaving the two purple strands of hair framing her face. She looked around the common room, sighed, seeing people already had left, and made her way to the ballroom. She looked up at the sign and read it, slightly afraid of what would happen. Hell...She thought as she made her way through the door. She look down and gasped. "Nut uh, Dana what the heck did you do to that door?!" Jordan asked, as she tugged at the skirt. She never wore this outfit in public, actually she never wore this outfit. Her salsa outfit was simple, this was...extravagant. Jordan shook her head before looking at the black frilly skirt that laced at the ends, a red off the shoulder top was suffocating her and her hair was down with a rose tucked behind her ear. Her black mask had a red glitter rose in the corner of her right eye. "Ah well..." She laughed and twirled once, letting the skirt flare out. Pulling at her curly hair, she worked it into an elegant twist and smiled.

Pyro walked down the halls grumbling slightly. Today had not been a good day. it seemed everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. teachers, upperclassman....animals. All seemed to have marked him today. At least he had Dana's party to look foreward to, he would be seeing Cass there and that had managed to get him through the day.
he decided to just dress casual, not like he was in the mood to pick clothes. he reached the ballroom and noticed the sign and table. He picked up a black mask with dark red slits for the eyes. he steped through the door. he noticed that a few ppl had already shown up. 'well, nice selection of outfits we have here' he thought to himself as he looked down at his own clothes.
they had changed! His clothes had changed color, they were now completly black with a bit of dark red and dark blue dabbled in here and there. it looked like a gloomy outfit.

Karissa looked at the different masks on the table, trying to decide which one to take. She finally chose one that she could tie around her head, and was white with little pearls and blue sequins around the edge. It wasn't great, but it was the best she could find. Karissa stepped through the door. Suddenly, she realised her clothes had changed. Her jeans and pink sweater had turned into a simple dress, except it was sort-of medieval. It was made of crimson red velvet and was trimmed with golden thread. For some reason, a modern twist had been added because her hair was streaked with red.
"Great," Karissa laughed. "What am I, the Valentines Day Princess?" Karissa walked over to the snack table, suddenly very thirsty. Karissa spotted the girl who had set up the party, Dana.
"Hi, Dana. Need any live singers?"

Post by Mia on Feb 14, 2005 21:31:52 GMT
Mia pulled on near by jeans and a long deep red colored turtle neck. Her long brown hair was down and seemed as if it were flowing when she moved. Mia's brown eyes sparkled with excitement and she felt butter flies emerge in her stomach. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath in but she couldn’t hold her excitement in much longer. Looking down at her feet and pulled on some near by black boots. Mia couldn't help but smile and stood up from the bed and took out her wand studying her hair. Turning around she looked at Fat Louie, "Louie should I wear it up or down?" She asked her cat and he looked up at her with his green eyes and meowed as she put her hair down. "Alright down it is." Mia said with a smile and walked out of the girl’s dorm with her high hells echoing off of the walls.
Wondering down towards the ballroom Mia grabbed her stomach as she felt like she was going to get sick. This would be her first time ever dancing with a guy and actually being around one. Mia never went up to guys and flirt but was always off with her friends or studying. You could say she was more of a Ravenclaw than Gryffindor. But in her eyes she showed a hint of bravery and her voice sounded confident. It was like when you could tell a person to be Hufflpuff. They would just seem too loyal and nice, well not most of them were nice. It was also like with Slytherins when you hear a hint of slyness in their voice. Most Slytherins were mean and cold hearted but not all of them. Of course Mia being a muggle born and knows how to defend herself. More than once she got stopped in the hall and had dangerous hexes and spells thrown her way. But she kept on and learned how to deal with them.
Reaching the ball room she opened the doors she walked through the doors and felt something strange weigh her down. Looking down at her body she noticed she as wearing something completely different! A very nice looking gown that was puffed at the ends changed her clothing. Mia’s eyes sparkled more as she moved her hips back and forth and let the dress swoosh on her body. It was so beautiful with the grayish flowers all swirled together and looked like lace. Looking at her arms she saw silk white gloves were covering them. “Maybe this is a little to dressy but it looks nice.” Mia said walked over towards a table with mask on them. All the masks were different and Mia liked a variety. There were feathers on some and other had bright colored sequins. Walking down the line she saw a mask that was screaming out to her. Picking it up Mia's eyes twinkled more than ever and continued on down the line towards the gowns. Looking up she saw a gown that matched her mask. The two would look absolutely prefect together!
Pulling on the mask she wondered what it was for. Could it possibly be for? No one would even recognize one of another. Touching her curly she hair she let her eyes wonder the room searching for a similar face. Not seeing anyone she noticed Dana, the host of the party. Mia had only met the girl once but really liked her in a friend kind of way. Walking over towards the younger girl she went to the ground and did a courtesy and giggled at her actions. "This is a great idea Dana! We are sure to have a great time." Mia said in a cheery voice and walked over towards a seat and sat down hoping that her prince well come.

D.J. wore a simple pale blue baby dress, and her hair was just in two simple braids, tied at the ends with blue bows. She thought she looked suitable for a Valentines day party, and she was smiles until she reached the ballroom where the party was to be held. Her gren eyes scanned the sign quickly, and looked to the pile of masks. Picking up a white one that only covered her eyes, she stepped in through the doors, instantly feeling the change of outfits.
"Wha-?" D.J. glanced down at her once pale baby blue dress, and sighed, seeing her white performance gown. She glanced at her hands, briefly to see her gloves and a fan around her wrist. Putting her hand to feel her hair, she recognized the bouncy curls and the silver clip that held the curls in place. D.J. sighed again and looked around, spotting a few people she knew, and few she didn't. One glance at Mia and she knew immediately who she was. D.J. walked over to Mia and smiled, "I feel like at home...like I'm about to perform.." She muttered, trying to breath.

Rayne sighed as she changed clothes in her dormitary. Today was in her opinion the most horrible day in the history of the world. It was Valentines Day or as she liked to call it Singles awareness day. She really didn't want to do anything more then hide in her dorm under her covers where no one could touch her. However Dana was throwing a Valentines Day party and she wouldn't miss her friends party for the world.
She noticed two things as she entered the wonderfully decorated room. One was that there was a table of masks and that everyone in the room was wearing one. The second thing she noticed was that her outfit had changed. She had started off wearing a red skirt and a black shirt. Now however she was wearing a dress that she'd only ever seen in her dreams. It was a long black velvet dress. The bottom portion fanned out a bit and flowed with her when she spinned. The top was a v neck and the sleeves reached her fingers. She absolutely adored this dress and cheered up just a bit. Walking over to the table Rayne put on a white mask. The mask was fairly simple as the only decoration on it was the delicate black roses that trailed in a line on the left side of her face. 'maybe this won't be so bad after all.' She thought to herself walking over to a corner and leaning against it so she could watch everyone else in the room.

Karissa, not waiting for an answer, just ran ahead up to a large stage decorated with balloons and streamers. She magicked a microphone and tapped it. Static buzzed around the room, causing people to turn and look at her.
"Hi, my name's Karissa, and I think that instead of a CD, this party needs some live music. That okay with you, Dana?"

Parties, weren't really Elina's idea of entertainment. She seemed to find them platitudinous, and didn't often go to them, unless it was a dinner party her parents seemed to throw. This party though seemed appealing to Elina for some reason, and she had decided to go, willingly. Which was surprising. Elina looked in the mirror that hung in her dormitory next to her bed, she had chosen a casual outfit, not really seeing the reason as to why she would dress up. She simply wore a pair of light blue jeans, and a blue lace spaghetti strap top. Her brown hair was upside down french braided, a way she wore her hair during the summer, and it had silver stars in it, tucked neatly in between the twines.
Elina checked her bag to make sure she had everything she needed, including her copy of Gone With The Wind, and headed down to the third floor, where the party was to be held. She had made sure to bring a book that she was interested in, in case she needed to sit in a corner and read instead of socialize and dance. Elina was used to being outcasted into a corner, reading into her own world in which nothing made her hesitate to live. When she was younger, Elina was forced to attend parties in which she despised, parties as the ones she grew up in, required her to be a hostess, someone who is calm and always collected. Though, in truth, she was far from it. Elina reached the entrance to the ballroom and looked at the table with masks, was this to be a masquerade? With a slight furrow of her brow, Elina sifted through the mask table, finally coming up with a simple cream one, that had sequins covering it.
She held it gently in her hands, and walked into the door. She knew that just wearing masks would be weird, expecting some sort of change, she glanced down at her clothing. A smile creeping upon her lips. She slipped the mask on, that went perfectly with her gown. It was a cream ballgown, one she had designed once herself, and had sequins on the top. Lifting the skirts of her gown, she looked at her feet, and saw white pumps. Reading in this would be rather uncomfortable, She thought as she moved her foot from side to side, examining the white shoe. Elina adverted her eyes to the crowd that was increasing at the moment. She couldn't recognize anyone! Maybe this was the point of which the masks served. Finding an empty chair, Elina did her best to sit, and sit she did.

Vanessa didn't even check her outfit, it was a party, she was gonna get it ruined anyway, and grabbed her guitar that was placed at the edge of her bed. She tucked some loose strands of hair behind her ear and ran out of the dorm and the common room to get to the party. Something she needed at the moment, the theatre had her nervous and she couldn't think straight. She only wished Chad could be there, but he couldn't, blast him being a muggle. She did wonder if Jasmine was going to show up, something seemed to be bothering her lately, and Vanessa wanted to know what. There wasn't anything Jasmine couldn't tell her, and obviously there is now.
Her mind was a jumble tonight, she couldn't think clearly, and why she had brought her guitar was over her head and in the stars. Maybe Dana could use someone to sing, instead of a recorded song. Who knew? Vanessa skidded around a corner and jumped a few stairs to get to the third floor quicker. Once reaching the ballroom, she could already here the music, that was being used. She shook her head and without looking, grabbed a mask. She didn't know why they needed a mask, but she shrugged the question off and stepped inside. One look around the room and she thought she was in the wrong place, it looked...formal.
Shrugging that off as well, Vanesa put the mask on and walked over to a table, grabbed a drink, and gulped it down. She was terribly thirsty, she noted to drink some more water. Vanessa bit the inside of her cheek, trying to find someone she knew, gave up and, decided to mingle. Walking towards a group of students, she set her guitar down by the wall, and smiled as she neared them, "What's with the masks? Not Halloween is it?" She wanted to make sure she was in the right month, after all, she grew up to Valentines about being about love, not masks.

Cass stood at the door expecting a surprise, but not really sure what. She was tired having been up for the entire night studying. If she was going to do this party, she had to get caught up on her studying. She was dressed nicely enough, wearing a pair of brown pants and a pink sweater. She had wished she had been a little bit more dressier.
She walked through the door and felt herself sort of shiver. She looked at a mirror and found herself in a beautiful whited dress that came to the floor. The brocaded fabric lightly sweeped the floor, and she had to giggle as she swooshed around in it. She looked quite pretty. Her black hair contrasted perfectly with the outfit, and to her surprise, she was wearing heels that seemed to not make her fall. There was glitter in most of her hair and it was in a nice updo. She lalso grabbed a gold and white mask with ribbons and feathers.
She liked the way she looked, at quite enjoyed the attention that she was getting from it. She whisked off to find Pyro, and did quite quickly. In his dark outfit, he seemed to stand out a bit.
She tapped him on the shoulder and said, " Now, don't we make the odd couple?"

Jusin was walking around in his black cowboy hat. He could'nt help wearing it, he loved the hat. Looking around for the ball room, he saw that he was almost there. Slightly nervousd, he thought about whether he should go in or not. Thinking with his gut, he decided to go, and continued on his way there. As he turned a corner, he saw a girl enter the ball room. He walked over to the door, took a deep breath, and was about to enter the room, when he remembered what the door was supposed to do. Underneath his robes, he had dressed in his usual country standards, he really did'nt want them to change. he decided to take off his hat before enetering.
Entering the room, he saw all the people there. He then looked down at his clothes as they changed into a tux, a black tux. With a raised eyebrow, he put his cowboy hat back on thought that the two went pretty good together. He looked around and saw the table, he saw that the rumor he had heard was true. Masks with feathers and others with sequins covered the table. walking over, he picked up a white mask, with dark blue slits for eyes. " Hmm," he thought, " It looks as though it was made just for me." He then looked around and saw D.J. Michaels, he walked over to her and said " Well howdy there."

Katie smiled excitedly as she added the last touch to tonight’s ensemble. She was wearing a denim skirt and a red t-shirt with a sequin heart in the middle. She had her hair partially pulled back with a silver clip and she was ready for some fun. Valentines Day was one of Katie’s favorite holidays. She had already received much candy and gifts from her family and muggle friends today, so she was in a very Valentines’ day spirit. Katie slipped on a pair of brown clogs and headed out towards the third floor. The Valentines Day party was to be held in a ballroom in the southern wing, which was rather unfortunate for her having to walk all that way. If only it would have been in the Great Hall.
Once she had reached the ballroom, she found the large group of masks. Katie sifted through the pile until coming upon one that she found to be too cute. It was black with pink polka dots, it had pink ribbon bordering the eye slits, and it only covered her eye area. She grabbed that one and stepped into the ballroom. One glance in the mirror made her mouth drop. “What in heaven’s name?” she muttered. Looking down she saw her normal clothes, they felt like her normal clothes, but the mirror showed something entirely different. Her ensemble now consisted of a black, A-line, spaghetti strap dress and black strappy sandals. Her dress had pink polka dots and an empire waist line clearly defined with a pink ribbon. The dress went just past her knees and had tooling to make it puff out the slightest bit at the bottom.
Realizing the spell that had obviously been placed on the door, Katie relaxed considerably. She glanced around, looking for people she knew, but it was quite hard finding anyone with these crazy masks everywhere. But across the room she was certain that she saw Mia sitting in a chair. Katie quickly made her way out of the crowd of people to sit down next to someone she knew. “Hey, Mia,” Katie said quietly, dropping into the chair beside her Gryffindor friend, “It is Mia, isn’t it? I mean I was pretty sure it was, but if I’m making a complete fool of myself please let me know now.”
D.J. spun around to see Justin, and smiled. She tilted her head, letting her curls fall on her shoulders, "Hello, I love your hat." She said sincerely. D.J. loved hats, she had a small weakness for cowboy hats as well, but she loved hats in general, "Nice tux too, the door change it?" She walked over to the table and took up a cup of punch, handing one to Justin and keeping one for herself. The dress didn't really bother her, considering she felt like she was in her blue one, but she didn't like the fancie-ness of it. She wondered why it couldn't be changed to her simple white, dinner dress.

Dana smiled watching as people entered and commented on the clothes with a smile. She was happy and hoped everyone else was enjoying themselves as well. Laughing and waving to the third year – Karissa, who had jumped on the stage, Dana showed that she didn’t mind, when Karissa would have some live singing. “Sonorus,” Dana whispered pointing her wand to her throat, so she would be heard, “Go right ahead, Karissa. It’s a free mic, so when you want to sing, just get on there – bit of info for everyone.”
Jumping on a stool, so everybody would see her as well, Dana continued: “Just a friendly reminder, that you can’t tell anyone who you really are until the masks are taken off. We have a jinx placed on all masks to let us all know, if anyone breaks the rule, thanks to that lovely gentleman in white pants and mask with the green blouse.” Dana pointed to Kris before continuing, “And as I’m already up here and have your attention – Happy Friends-Day everybody! And this party is meant for friends and to just enjoy yourself and forget all about school-work for one evening, so remember – you can’t turn down an invitation to a dance today! And don’t worry – the outfits will look normal once again after you exit through the door again. Lovely choice of dresses here by the way – even though I didn’t really expect so many ball-gowns!”
Dana smiled and casting a ‘Silcencio’ on herself bounced happily over to Rayne ((Dana doesn’t really know her, but so you’ll know who I’m talking to)), who was standing at the corner, grabbing too smaal cups of juice along. “Love the small flowers,” Dana laughed and motioned towards her own red shorts and a white top, “I really didn’t expect so many gowns to appear, but maybe I was the only one who was in the mood for simple and fun.”
Dana smiled and handed one of the cups to Rayne, while sipping from the other one herself, before putting the cup down and pulling a small red card from her shorts-pocket: “A hug-card for you. You can’t refuse and after getting it you can go and hug anyone while presenting this card. If the receiver refuses, he – or she – will get a walk around in a huge teddy-bear costume for 24 hours.”
Winking at Rayne, Dana hugged her quickly: “Hope you didn’t mind. As I don’t really even know you, but you were here and I figured I would get to know you. Or actually thanks to the masks- at least have a quick conversation. Sorry, if I’m overly bubbly. Too much sugar.”
As he had promised Dana, that he would help to keep the party going and dance with girls, if they seemed a bit distant, Kris looked around the room to make sure everything was alright. Noticing a bit younger girl half-hidden in an corner, Kris made to invite her to a dace, just in time to hear someone ask, if it was Halloween. Recognizing the voice from the Music Room some time ago, Kris decided that the girls name was Vanessa.
“I think the point of the masks is to make sure you won’t turn down a dance because of someone’s house or appearance or whatever else and no it isn’t Halloween,” Kris said moving over and smiling while pulling out a small red card from his pocket, “But right now I do have a gift for you. A Hug card. I get a hug and you get the card, which you can then use to get a hug from anyone. If the person you present the card to get a hug, refuses, then he or she will be forced to wear a teddy-bear costume for 24 hours,” Kris simply stated the rules and the charm Dana had placed on the cards. Smiling to the girl, Kris hugged her quickly, leaving her with the card, before heading over to the shy third year. ((A bit G-moding, but hope you don’t mind, as I wanted to make Kris move forward after it. If you do, I’ll change it!))
Kris smiled and twirled the girl away, just when Dana started speaking with the help of the ‘Sonorus’ charm. Grinning and making a sweeping bow as Dana pointed to him and said he had came up with the jinx, that was casted on the masks. It would only work if you stated your name to someone and then the mask would just sick to your face for about 24 hours.
Looking around once more, to see if anyone else was distant, Kris noticed a girl sitting in a corner in a cream ball-gown ((Elina, this one is meant for you)) Kris made his way over to the girl, who seemed about his age. Or maybe a year older in class, but Kris doubted she would be more than a couple of months older in age. “Hello,” Kris said with a nod and a half-smile, stopping in front of the girl, “You heard our... hostess that this place is meant for fun. So what is a pretty girl like you yourself doing, sitting in a corner?”
Reaching out his hand, Kris bowed: “So, may I have this dance, my lady, or will I have to find some dragon first, like the story goes in muggle fairy-tales?”
