When the train stopped, Kim quickly grabbed all her empty bags and threw them in the rubbish bin. Making sure she had her wand in her pocket (she didn't want to loose another wand) she slid the door open and looked around. here and there everyone was getting up and leaving the train. Squeezing her tiny body along the wall and in between people, Kim managed to be one of the very first people to exit the train. As she walked towards the carriages she heard Hagrid calling for all the 1st years. Skipping along by the train she was heading towards the awaiting carriages when an older student grabbed her by her collar. "Hey let go!" Kim protested. "Little girl, first years have to go over there" the older boy said to her. "Let go! I'm not a first year! I'm a fourth year!" Laughing, the older boy shook his finger at her. "Come on, you're going to miss the sorting if you go this way."
Kim struggled to free herself but was little use so she reached into her pocket and pulled out her class schedule. "Here!" Kim squeaked as she held up her schedule for the older boy. "Oh... sorry... wait.. you're a 4th year? How old are you!?" the boy asked as he let go of Kim's collar. "I'm 14! Thank you! Now I have to get all the way back to a carriage!" Kim stuffed her schedule back into her pocket and ran back towards the carriages. Crowds had gathered around most the carriages and she didn't feel like squeezing her way through them all. Her eyes quickly scanned the scene and she found a bright pink carriage sitting alone. Perfect! She thought as she ran over to it, and climbed up into it.
Once the carriage stopped, Kim pushed open the door and jumped down. People were beginning to filter into the Great Hall and she did her best to squeeze her way through the masses and into the Great Hall. Heading straight for the Hufflepuff table she took her seat at her usual spot, near front of the hall and then eagerly looked into the empty bowls in front of her. It'd been a while since she'd had a good feast.

Lost int he crowd she entered the hall a few minutes later, trying to push her way through the rush of students towards the Hufflepuff table. Once she broke free, she spotted Kim sitting in the same she as she always sat in. Nokomis could remember looking over at her, normally sitting near someone from Quidditch, and wishing she could sit near them too. Now thought, she was pretty sure that she could. She liked Kim--she was very friendly, and one never had to worry about there being much silence...
She smiled slightly to herself ad she walked over and pulled up the chair next to Kim. She never had a seat she claimed as her own. She normally just sat in one the furthest away from everyone. Kim's seat though seemed to be right in the thick of things.
"It looks so different after being here for a year"
She remember the great hall seeming big and imposing her first year, now, it seemed like home.

Much commotion surrounded the entry way to Great Hall as people were trying to get in first to claim the best seats. Valerie simply went with the crowd and soon enough she was in fact in the Hall itself. Separating herself from the crowd she made her way to the Hufflepuff table which had only a few students so far. The only person she saw and recognized was Kim. Walking down the table she past several others and took a seat across from Kim and a younger girl she didn't really know. A excited buzz filled the hall as more and more students came in, the Sorting Hat was always a special ceremony and Valerie hoped that Hufflepuff would get a good group of 1st years. As this was her last year she also felt saddened by the fact that she'd never again witness the Sorting hat, or for that matter her meals in the hall itself were now quickly counting down. With a heavy sigh, she looked across the table at Kim. She was always one that could cheer people up with her never ended chatter and silly antics. "Hi" Valerie said to the two younger girls as she picked up her goblet and took a sip of water.

Ivy stumbled as the masses moved forwards relentlessly towards the carriages. Someone trod on her hand. "Ow!" she called out, but no one bothered to apologise, they were already gone, the next people steamrolling over her. "Oh great", she thought, and heaved herself up, right in front of a 4th year Slytherin. "Do you mind?" they said. "Actually, yes," she retorted, and moved away quickly, but not fast enough to avoid hearing the demeaning remark made by the Slytherin to her companion. Ivy finally made it to a carriage and was soon being pushed on into the Great Hall. She looked around her, and up at the ceiling, where a few dark clouds billowed and stars twinkled. "Home", she thought. "See?" she told her other half, "this is where you belong. You're not out of place here." She made her way over to the Hufflpuff table, where she spotted Nokomis and Kim. She sat down next to Nokomis. "Hi", she said, looking across in suprise to the girl opposite her, who, if she wasn't mistaken, was a 7th year.

Jordan looked over the crowd to find...no one. She sighed to herself and pushed past a couple of people to get to the Hufllepuff table. She spotted Ivy,Kim,Nokomis, and a 7th year which she did not know the name of. She smiled and waved at her friends as she walked to them, and taking her seat next to Ivy. Her and Ivy were friends, but she didnt know what kind of friends, it was all very confusing, and after all she was only a third year.
"So, doesnt it feel like we can do anything now that we are a third year?" Jordan asked Ivy, before looking longingly at the golden plate in front of her. Nothing was there, but she was sarving. And you wouldnt think she would be, considering all the snacks she ate on the train to Hogwarts. She sighed and turned back to Ivy with a smile.

Kim grabbed her plate and lifted it up hoping to see some food start coming up from the down below but it didn't happen. Setting down her plate she was joined by Nokomis and then Valerie. "Hi Valerie! Where were you on the train? I didn't see you on the train I thought maybe you missed the train or something you know? Hey this is Nokomis" Kim said as she poked Nokomis in the arm "She's a 2nd year but she's going to try out for Quidditch this year." While speaking Ivy and Jordan also joined then, Kim happily beamed as she was once again in the midst of lots of people. "Ooh Ivy and Jordan! Hey! This is Valerie, she's a Hufflepuff too! Oh and this is Nokomis" Kim said as she again poked Nokomis in the arm. "Ivy and Jordan want to try out for Quidditch too, I told all of them that we need people so they're going to try out. Oh they are 3rd years by the way so they can fly, I think. Right?" Kim asked as she looked at Nokomis, Ivy and Jordan. "You guys can fly? You don't have to have your own brooms though, you can use the school ones, just make sure you don't get any of those old black brooms for games, they're way slow. Valerie is our seeker you know, she's quite good too."
Quickly turning around on her bench Kim glanced back at the Gryffindor table, they too didn't have food. Again spinning back around she look at the Ravenclaws who also didn't have food. "Hey, how come we don't have any food yet? I know we're not supposed to eat until he first years get here, but can't we get like appetizers? You know when you go to restaurants they offer you appetizers before you eat. I like this Italian restaurant near my house, we go there and they have these yummy appetizers! We get those mozzarella sticks, they're fried mozzarella and they give you this special sauce and it's super good! Oh and they also have these like bread puffs, they're really good and the cover them with that parmigagana cheese or whatever it's called and it's really good! Sometimes I eat soooo much of those things that when our pizza comes I can only like eat one slice but that is OK you know because you can always ask for a box and then you get to take your pizza home and I eat it for breakfast the next day. My mum gets mad though, she says pizza isn't for breakfast but I don't think so I think you can eat pizza anytime. I wish the house elves here would make pizza more often. I really like it, maybe we can go to the kitchen now and ask them for some pizza. Come on, who wants to go with me?" Kim asked as she stood up at the bench and looked for the quickest way out of the Great Hall.

Jordan smiled. She was hungry but she didnt want to miss the ceremony. She shook her head no and went back to looking up at the staff table. It faced the other four tables so they could see what was going on and it made Jordan feel more secure, knowing that they saw the double doors before anyone else did. She looked up to the ceiling and saw it was enchanted (as always) to look like the night sky. Some candles floated above everyones heads, lighting the room and making it seem more homier. She looked to the Gryffindor table and saw as they chatted away, opposed to the Slytherin table which was filled with angry people. And the Ravenclaw table which was filled with even more chatty people. Jordan laughed as she went back to staring at her empty plate.

She smiled a Valerie, trying to be friendly towards the other Quidditch team captin. She despratly wanted to make a good impression, hoping that maybe it would help her chances of making the team.
As Ivy and Jordan came over she smiled at them, glad that she was now surrounded by people who she new, and hoped would be her friends.
She focused on Kim as her new friend chatted away about Quidditch and brooms, before moving quickly onto the topic of food. It did seem that Kim liked to eat a lot, not that she was complaining, she also liked to to eat, and she was beyond ready to enjoy the famous Hogwarts Welcoming Feast. Nothing tasted as good as that feast after being away from Hogwarts for so long.
"I can fly" she replied quickly, trying to snee a word in without interupting Kim "I have a broom too. My Dad gave me one for my birthday and I have been tryign to pratice to be a chaser all summer."

Valerie sat in silence as Kim introduced everyone now sitting with them. All were younger than Kim but they all wanted to play Quidditch. Nodding slightly and smiling at each girl Kim then went on to discussing how each of them was to try out as well as giving them information regarding the school brooms. Kim suddenly swiveled in her seat then back again and just as soon as she had finished Kim was off and running on another topic, time it was food. Appetizers and what not she talked about as she went on and on. Valerie had no idea how her younger sister managed to keep up with Kim's constant talking. Throughout the summer they'd gone places, Valerie her sister and Kim and sometimes others as well. Each time though the one constant was Kim chattering up a storm to Karina who somehow managed to be able to keep up and not need headache medicine afterwards.
Kim then stood up, proclaiming that she intended to go to the kitchen to get some pizzas. "Sit down Kim" Valerie said from across the table as she gave her a stern look. She thought of Kim as sort of a little sister and as often was the case, a little sister that had to be given certain guidelines. Turning back to the other girls she looked at Nokomis, she wanted to be a chaser, she looked OK for it, maybe a bit small but she was only a 2nd year. "What position do you want?" Valerie asked both Ivy and Jordan as she waited for the 1st years' sorting to commence.

Ivy noticed Jordan walking towards them, waving at them. Jordan took a seat next to her.
She ought to try to get to be better friends with Jordan this year, Ivy reckoned. They had always been amiable towards one another, but had never been really good friends. Jordan seemed to Ivy like the sort of person who might be worth her devoting herself to. Ivy was always very cautious about making good friends - she gave them all her loyalty and the slightest betrayal on their part was like a stab in the heart for her.
Jordan interupted her reverie, saying, "So, doesn't it feel like we can do anything now we're third years?" Ivy wasn't sure about that one. She had never been particularly rebellious, although she had started changing, in her opinion rather alarmingly, over the summer. "Yeah, I guess", said Ivy, with a smile. "I suppose this is one of the years we have free to do what we want most. And we can finally go to Hogsmeade..."
She looked over to Kim, who was talking about food. Kim stood up, announcing her intention to demand pizza off the house elves, but was checked by the seventh year, Valerie, who seemed to know Kim quite well. Ivy listened more carefully as Nokomis discussed Quidditch. Valerie turned to Ivy and Jordan, asking, "What position do you want?" "Well, I think I might try out for Chaser," Ivy replied. "But I'm going to need to do loads of practice if I'm going to get any good at it at all..." She trailed off for a while, listening to Kim as she talked for a while about Quidditch and food simultaneously. "I do have a broom, so I'm going to put in the practice and hopefully it might work. Is there anything I should do that would help me?" she asked, applying to Valerie who must have oodles more experience than her.

Kim was surprised to see no one get up to go with her. Grabbing Nokomis by the arm she was prepared to pull her up and drag her with her to the kitchens when Valerie told her to sit down. Looking across the table she sighed and saw Valerie give her that mean look. Slouching back onto the bench Kim pouted and looked hungrily at her empty plate. "What's taking them so long.." She whined as she picked up a glass of water and drank some. "Yuk.. I don't like water it tastes like nothing. One time I tried to put salt in it to see what it would taste like, but it tasted terrible. Then I tried to put sugar in the water, that tasted pretty good. I don't think Professor Snape liked me doing that though because in class later that day he gave me a detention, he said I did enough talking for the whole school. I don't think so though I just wanted to try new water that's all. What do you think water tastes like if you put some vanilla in, like they have vanilla sodas. I want to try that sometime, but I don't know where to buy vanilla, what is it anyway? I know you can get cocoa from like cocoa plants though."
Kim then looked back over to the main doors and they had yet to open. "Where are they..." she again whined as she put her head down on the table.

She had stood partially up with Kim, not that she was really planning on going to the kitchens just that Kim wasn't giving her much of choice. She smiled at Valerie when she told Kim to sit down, relieved taht she woudln't be involved in the storming of the kitchen and she sank back down into her chair, listening to Kim talk about flavoring water. She actually liked water, but then she wasn't suprised that Kim didn't like how it tasted like nothing. Kim didn't seem to like anything plain or simple.
"Don't we have to wait for the sorting before we can eat?" She asked, having been in the sorting the year before, she was a little confused of how everything went for the older students.

Jordan wasnt paying attention anymore. She was off in her own little world. Thinking about things, that she had tried to stop thinking about long ago. But they kept coming back and she HATED it. She just did. The bad memories that should be buried never were, and the good memories that should be remembered never could be. And by being away from all the memories that she should forget, like her parents and her everything else back at her muggle home, she just remembers them even more. She has tried to explain this to her brother Justin, but it never worked, he had always shook his head and walked off. Justin was ALWAYS there for her, and now since he had hit 14 things were much more distant between them. He had gotten a girlfriend, one she did not like, and he had stopped talking to his sister, which hurt her more then ever. Chris was there, but not a lot and even though she did love him, he just, never understood her way of thinking. Not a lot of people did.
She loved Hogwarts, she did, but she loved her family too. Her mother had tried to talk her out of going, but it never happened. And now Jordan was considering it. Dropping out during her fourth year. But if she did that, nothing would happen, and she would just be another oridanry Cortes. She wouldnt be known as Jordan the brujita, but Jordan, Justin and Chris' little sister. She didnt want to be known like that ALL her life. She would like to be what she truly was, a witch. And if she couldnt handle it then she didnt deserve anything special.
Jordan shook her head, and got rid of those ugly candid thoughts that swirled her mind. She shuddered at the thought of actually quitting Hogwarts, she WOULD NEVER be able to do that. EVER.

Ivy listened as Kim complained yet again about the lack of food. She didn't feel all that hungry at the moment, so she wasn't all that bothered. Although she was a bit exasperated - all the talk of food was starting to make her feel a little peckish...
She looked to her right, towards Jordan, who looked a little out of sorts. Ivy turned away. She wasn't going to ask what was wrong. How she hated it if people did that to her... but then they usually didn't notice her anyway. She was the one that tended to notice the shyest before the loudest.
She didn't know much about Jordan, Ivy thought. Until she had any idea of what might be wrong, she wasn't going to interupt while she didn't know a way to help.
Ivy turned towards Nokomis, who had just asked whether they had to wait for the sorting before they got food. "Yep," she answered, "I'm afraid we do. Annoying really, but there you go. Why, are you hungry?" she asked, as her own stomach emitted a loud complaint.

She smiled, the action more shy than anything as she nodded. She was extremely hungry. She had been too excited that morning to eat anything until she got on the train, and there it was just some chocolate frogs and every flavor beans.
"A little" She replied, still looking around the hall
"It seems strange not to be up there." She mumbled, not sure if anyone heard her "Not that I wish I was" She corrected, very quickly "It just seems strange"

Ivy watched Nokomis quietly. She was mumbling. Nokomis had gone all shy on her. Being a shy person herself, this was a difficult situation for her to sort out, but she was not going to turn away from Nokomis, who was evidently making herself feel embarassed. "I felt exactly the same", Ivy reassured her. "I'd never seen a Sorting Ceremony apart from with the hat falling over my eyes - it was a bit disorientating." Ivy fell silent for a moment, musing, listening to Kim and the buzz in the rest of the Hall. The Hall fell silent. The Sorting Ceremony had begun. Ivy smiled at Nokomis again and then looked away, to a stool where a very tattered hat lay, before its brim opened and it burst into song.
