Amelia sighed, boredom. It sucked. She looked down at her empty plate as her blonde hair started to fall out of her messy clip. She sighed, slightly angry and pulled it back up, twisted her hair, and clipped it tighter against her head.
Amelia smiled, remebering that foreboding feeling she had when she was lead to the ragged old Sorting hat. She sighed at the thought and rubbed her hands against her legs.
It was weird being here. She was almost used to the strange and magical surroundings of Hogwarts, but she loved it non-the-less. It was mysterious and always put a smile on her face when she got her supplies List. It was still making her excited to think of school- most kids groan and want to stay home, but Hogwarts was a chance to get away, to live without your mum breathign down your neck, it was a release.
She sighed waiting for the Sorting to begin. [/color]

When Liam finally reached the Great Hall, he headed over to the Gryffindor table. He saw Amelia Richardson, a girl in his year at Hogwarts, sitting at the table already. She was looking around the room admiring the room, looking around in awe. He walked over to her and said, "Hello, can't wait for the sorting to begin."
He then went to take his seat at the end of the table, nearest the door. He sat and, he too, looked around the room, admiring the surroundings. He felt his stomach growl, and thought to himself, 'Man I hope that the ceremony get's over soon.'

Nasser laughed as he descended from the carriage he had been riding with Sethia Wagner and Perseus Feynman, his two best friends. They had been catching up on what they had done in the summer. Perseus of course had done a lot of reading. He was a very studious and intelligent boy, who was interested in muggle sciences as well as magical, especially Physics. Nasser and Sethia had seen each other in Diagon Alley, but they hadn't seen Perseus all summer. Nasser and the two were still talking when they reached the Great Hall, and then they had to leave each other to go to their different house tables. Each was in a house; Nasser was a Gryffindor, Sethia a Hufflepuff, and Persues, surprisingly enough, a Slytherin. It was rare to see a Slytherin befriend anybody who did not belong in the same house, but Perseus wasn't your typical Slytherin. He did not share the pureblood beliefs, and was often picked on by his fellow Slytherins. Nasser often wondered by a person with an intellect like Persues was not sorted into Ravenclaw, but supposed Perseus' ambition was the reason. Perseus was very ambitious and was one of the top students in their year. He was also as pureblood as they come, his late mother being an indirect descendant of Salazar Slytherin.
The Great Hall was welcoming and the decorations were elaborate. The floating candles gave the room an atmosphere like no other and Nasser felt happy to be back at school as he made his way to the Gryffindor table. Nasser was muggle-born from a rather large family of which he was the only one with the ability to do magic. Coming back to the magical world made him feel a bit strange every year, but Nasser knew that this where he belonged. He sat down and waited for the arrival of his feloow Gryffindors. He could see his Head of House Professor McGonagall about to get the Sorting Hat and the four-legged wooden stool the first-years sat on to be sorted. Nasser smiled a little to himself as he had a fleeting memory of himself as an eleven-year-old waiting to be sorted. He hadn't even known what house he wanted to be in. The Hat had seemed to consider for a short while before sorting him into Gryffindor, but Nasser could still remember the voice as it said "Yes… I know just the place for you… GRYFFINDOR!" and the last word it shouted out to the whole Hall.

Robin Versnowa was suddenly struck by an emotion he was not very familiar with - it was sadness. Robin was a 17 year old who liked to have a lot of fun, and went through life without worrying too much about anything, but as he entered the Great Hall he could not help but think that was his last year at Hogwarts. Robin had come to love Hogwarts very dearly in the past seven years. He was going to miss the school next year when he started training to be an Auror. Robin had finally decided that was what he wanted to do after school, though he knew it would require him to do well on his NEWTs and to study for two more years after school. He made his way to the Gryffindor table with two of his fellow seventh years, and looked around for a place to sit.
Robin noticed a fifth year he knew from Quidditch. It was Nasser Salah, a muggle-born wizard who was originally from Egypt. Robin walked over to Nasser and tapped him on the shoulder and said, "Hi Nasser! Enjoyed your summer? Not all fun and no Quidditch practice I hope," he said with a smile at the Gryffindor Chaser.

Amelia had just been looking around at all the many decorations when someone she knew walked up to her. She smiled as Liam told her about how much he wanted to sorting to begin. Amelia nodded at him and answered before he walked away.
"Yes- it is incrediably boring!" and he walked away to the last seat of the table. Amelia felt dissapointed and looked down at her empty plate. She wanted to keep talking to Liam.
Amelia had had the most biggest crush on him for a while now and she enjoyed talking to him sometimes. But he usually didn't talk to her much and it made Amelia sad when he didn't stop to chat.
Amelia looked over to Liam and secretly wished he would just talk to her and realize that she liked him oh so much. She sighed and looked up at McGonagall. She sighed again.
'Stupid Sorting- hurry up and start!' Amelia thought angerily. [/b]

As Liam sat alone, he got the feeling that he was being watched. As he looked around, he caught a glance at Amelia. Feeling that he'd rather be talking to her than sitting alone, he got up and walked down to the seat across from her.
When he finally reached the empty seat, he said, "Is this seat taken?" Without waiting for a reply, Liam sat down holding his stomach, hoping that the feast would begin soon.

Amelia felt her stomach clench as Liam sat beside her. She couldn't help but smile at him. He seemed very hungry and she noticed her stomach growling.
"Stupid Sorting," she said, to no one in particular, "I wish it would start, don't you?" She turned to Liam, directing the comment and question to him. She smiled awaiting his answer and noting how good he looking that morning.

As LIam sat waiting for the sorting begin, he couldn't help but look at, Amelia. When she made her remark about the sorting and asked if wished the sorting would start, he said, "Yeah, I do. The sooner it starts the sooner we can eat, right?" By this time, Liam was holding his stomach wishing that the feast would start right then.
"Man, I'm starving. Aren't you?" Liam finally asked, turning his head to look at the door to the great hall, hoping that he would see the first years coming in to get the sorting started.

Amelia couldn't help but smile when Liam kept catchign a glance at her. Everytime his eyes looked at her, she felt as if her heart had skipped a beat and she looked down smiling. Then he answered her remark and she smiled as her asked anther question.
"I want it to start now, too," She noticed him holding his stomach.
"Did you not eat Lunch or something?" Amelia asked, noticing how hungry she was also and her stomach growling, again.

Liam knew that Amelia had a thing for him, when he saw her trying to hide the fact that she was smiling. He couldn't help but feel a little embarassed, nobody had ever had those knid of feelings toeards him.
Liam looked up from his plate when Amelia asked him a question. "Did I eat lunch? You know, I don't remember, I was in a hurry to get to the train station. But, I also had a lot on my mind," Liam replied.

Amelia smiled and nodded, noing what it was like not having enough time to eat, because of Hogwarts. Amelia remembered all the times she didn't eat Lunch because of the Train, or when she was late for Muggle School and couldn't eat breakfast.
"Yeah I hate that," she had to cut her sentence short because the first appeared with McGonagall leading. Feeling relief wash over her in a second she whispered to Liam;
"Finally!" if he answered or not Amelia didn't know, for mcGonagall's stern and loud voice made Amelia not hear anythimg he said- if he said anything.
Proffessor McGonagall had the students gather around the sorting hat. Amelia felt excited and pleased to think that she got to watch the little first years get sorted.

Liam heard Professor McGonagall walk in to the Great Hall with all of the first years following her. Liam turned around, not even hearing what Amelia had said. As he watched all the first years enter, he couldn't help but thing back to how it felt for him to be in their possition. Liam saw a few first years that he knew, including Ayumi, who had helped him with a problem over the summer and who he'd grown close to.

Nasser turned round and looked at Robin Versnowa, an enthusiastic Quidditch player like Nasser but a Beater not a Chaser. He smiled back and his dark green eyes twinkled as he said "Summer wouldn't be fun without Quidditch." Being a muggle-born made it difficult to practise Quidditch in the summer for Nasser. Nasser had three brothers and three sisters, and all of them were muggles, and he liked to spend the summer joining in with his family's activities, which left him with very little time of his own. He knew he had to practise though as he didn't want to lose his position on the team, and tried to whenever he could. Besides, he couldn't live without flying.
Nasser was glad Robin was now their Beater. "It's a relief really you finally became our Beater. Our last two were terrible as you know; we just won last year because Ronald finally gained some self-confidence. We want to put up a good show this year." Nasser wondered who the new Gryffindor Quidditch Captain would be. At least they had Harry back as seeker. McGonagall had seen to it that his lifelong ban was removed, not that it had needed seeing to. Everybody was glad to be rid of Umbridge, and the school was running as smoothly as it had run before, if life ever ran "smoothly" at Hogwarts.

"Yeah… we still need another Beater though," said Robin. "I'm glad we're finally rid of Umbit… ridge," said Robin, with a grin and wink at Nasser. Robin wondered if Nasser had known what some of the students had been calling Umbridge behind her back. It wasn’t a very nice name, but then she wasn't a very nice woman. Robin hoped someone who knew what they were doing was teaching Defense against the Dark Arts this year. It was Robin's favourite subject, and one he took seriously and really tried hard at, and Robin was a skilled Dueller because of that. Of course most people felt the job to be inauspicious because no teacher had held the position for more than one year and consequently Dumbledore always had difficulties finding a teacher. Still, one could only hope for the best.
The Sorting had finally begun. The bunch of scared first-years were now looking even more nervous than before. The first of them made her way to the stool, sat down and put on the tattered looking Sorting Hat. She was sorted into Ravenclaw, and Robin wondered if there would be many new Gryffindors. He hoped they got some good ones; it would be great if Gryffindor got the cup at the end of Robin's last year, and the end-of-year feast took place amidst decorations of scarlet and gold.

Amelia sighed happily as the first years were sorted. She saw as a girl was sorted into Ravenclaw. She clapped mildly. She wanted a Gryffindor this year! More Gryffindors to help with the house points. Of course unless they make trouble, then it would be a disaster! Amelai frowned remembering the first points she lost for Gryffindor. Being out on the grounds at midnight wasn't a 'goody' thing to do, she sopposed. She looked to Liam. Did he remember when she had lost those 500 points for being up late, on the grounds, and then back talking Snape.
She was glad those days were over for her. Being the 'bad-girl' was not only fun but it was tiring. She had gotten tired of the points she lost, she had gotten tired of everything she did. And only two years of being that way. It felt as if she were 'playing a part'. As if it weren't her who was sneeking out late. It wasn't her who was stealing from teachers. She hated the image she had now. She was determined this year to show people she wasn't that 'bad-girl' anymore. She had changed. It was hard. But her father helped her.
She turned to Liam and smiled. She hoped he wouldn't hate her for her bad reputation.
"So, Liam, do you want Gryffindors this year?" she asked.

As Liam watched the sorting, he couldn't help but hope they got some good students in Gryffindor. Maybe somebody who was smart enough to earn house points for them. He remmebered how it was for them when they lost house points, and he wanted to have enough that they didn't have to worry about losing some. "Yeah, I do hope that we get some Gryffindors this year. I hope that Ayumi Kimoto ends up in our house. She was alot of help to me over the summer," Liam replied to Amelia's question.

Amelia felt puzzled at Liam's remark. She turned from the sorting and fixed him with a confused stare, the best stare she knew. other than her 'Medusa Look' (her evil eye so to speak)
"What do you mean? Did you talk to her or somthing?" she asked, friendly.

Liam knew he was in trouble when he saw Amelia turn her head around and seeing her stare a hole through him. "I...I, uh, did talk to her. But, she was just helping me with a personal problem. She's jsut become a good friend to me," Liam said, trying not to make Amelia angery. "I didn't mean anything by it, I swear. It's just that I felt like I could talk to her, thats all."

Amelia couldn't help but laugh. The affect she had on some people was hilarious.
"I was just being weird, Liam, don't take it too seriously!" she laughed again and turned to watch the Sorting. She smiled as a girl was sorted into Gryffindor and cheered along with everyone else. She turned to Liam.
"That makes one, huh?" she smiled warmly at him.

Colin tried to avoid the glances of everyone as he found a seat. He wondered what was going to happen next as he watched the Sorting end and the new students join their tables, most of them looking as nervous as Colin felt. Before Colin was an empty plate and cutlery but there was no food. He wasn't too sure he felt hungry and was very quiet as he didn't know any of the people around him.
