Katta watched Kamron silently, studying the way he moved. Another familiar form caught her eye. Rhys. Oh, geezalu. A small spider crawled across Katta's shoe, and she slowly brished it off. She was invisible to those who didnt know where she was, yes, but she couldnt make people deaf. No, but this would be a GREAT time to become an Animagi....
------
As Rhys neared the stand of trees, his first thought was that of killing Kamron. He was always there, always making Katta smile. He hated that he wasnt the only one doing that to her anymore. But what was wrong with her? She didnt eat, there were dark circles under her eyes, she wasnt like she used to be. Occasionally he saw a bruise on her arm after the summer holidays, and she was always hiding something after the Christmas and Easter holidays as well. He knew Mr. McLeod, and that he was a pleasant man to be around. He wouldnt hurt Katta, so what could be wrong?
------
Katta watched both Rhys and Kamron as they looked for her. After she heard Kamron's request for her to come out, she resolved.... not to. She sat still, shifting her weight, catlike, onto another branch. Silence was the key. The hem of her robe caught on a small twig. Not noticing, she moved still higher. It wasnt until that barely audible rip until she stopped, and turned back to correct her mistake. The damage was done, though.
------
Rhys jumped. He had heard something... But what?

He was thanking the gods for the fact he had become good at reading people when he heard that rip. Most people woudln't have been listening as he was, but realizing that she wasn't going to show herself, he had resolved to just listening to any noise--and the rip was definatly a human made noise.
It came from a tre not too far away. He walked over to it, seeing Rhys not too far off, he shot an angry glare at the other boy before looking up into the tree's branches. He coudln't really see her, but he did see the flash of her robes
"Katta..." he repeated "I know your up there....Please, talk to me"

Katta watched Kamron, knew he had heard the rip, and made a mental note to shoot herself. Gods, she had to do THAT. She frowned when she heard his request, and shook her head. Taking her wand, she whispered a spell, and her robes turned dark green, coming close to match the foliage around her. How she would have loved to say "What do you want," but she knew she couldnt. She'd break down then, and tell what was going on. Instead she maintained a face as solemn as that of a heiroglyphic pharaoh. Her eyes darted from Kamron to Rhys, and back again, not wanting to be seen. Curse that rip. Now he knew she was here...

He sighed. He knew that she wanted to be alone....but he wanted to talk to her. Something was wrong, and he wanted to know what. He wanted to do whatever it took to make it better. Things seemed to be getting worse with her...and he was getting even more worried
Finally, he let out a determined sigh and grabbed a near by branch, "If you wont come down, I'm going up after you"
he finally said before pulling himself up into the tree

Katta saw what he was doing and made a descision. To lie. She put on a smile and sat, watching the grounds, trying to ignore the fact that he was almost level with herself. She kept her eyes on the lake, watching the giant squid, who had surface and was playing with the rocks that lined one edge of the lake. Maybe, tomorrow night, she could play with the squid... Underwater... She closed her eyes and shook her head, ridding herself of those depressing thoughts.
------
Rhys watched Kamron climb the tree after Katta. Crud. Kamron WOULD be the hero, of course. Well, if she tried to run away, he'd be ready. He hoped...

He climbed until he was almost level with her. He then say on a branch slightly lower, and off to the side, giving her a soft smile. He decided that he woudln't talk about any topic that might cause her to be upset...whatever it was that was bothering her, he was going to avoid it.
"Nice view" He commented, glancing down at the lake

Katta smiled and nodded, her mind racing. Rhys hadnt followed Kamron. That meant he'd still be waiting. So she couldnt leave that way. Kamron was blocking the easier way down. No luck there. She opened her mouth and then closed it again.
"Yeah..." she said, and then looked away.

He smiled slightly, his focus still on her. He wrinkled his face slightly in thought, wondering how he could best go about this.
After a moment, he reached a hand out, clasping it around hers. He knew that at the moment, the most important thing was to make sure that she felt comfortable and safe around him.
"Why did you run away like that?"

The sudden gesture made Katta flinch. She did not look at him, but kept her gaze on the distant horizon.
"Erm... I was late for class" she said, lying again. She then changed what she had said.
"You needed to stop fighting" she said, barely audible, and without any emotion. It was true- she'd seen her own life ruined by fighting. She was tired of it. Wasnt school a place to get away from all the stresses of the summer?
She felt herself becoming edgy, put on the spot. She kept her gaze averted, wondering whether or not to pull away and jump the fifteen feet to the ground.

He held her hand firmly, but may sure not too strong. He wanted her to stay, but he didn't want her to feel like he was forcing her to do anything.
"Stop fighting" He repeated.
He knew what she meant. She wanted him and Rhys to get along....
"Whats between me and Rhys isn't important"

Katta frowned.
"You are all I have. I dont want you to hate each other. Yes, it is important to me. You have more friends than I ever will. We lead very different lives, Kamron." She said this louder, more forcibly. "But I cant change what isnt mine, so you two can bloody well keep on at it. But I wont be a part of it."
She was becoming angry now, like she hadnt been in years.
"I dont know why He does it. I didnt mean to do anything to Him. He just takes it all out on me." Katta whispered, looking at the ground and willing herself not to cry. The pain in the hand Kamron held was increasing- her sprained wrist and the force she was using trying to pull away.
"Please let go," she said. "Let go of me and let me fall..."

He immediatly looked concered, but he didn't let go of her hand. Instead he ignored her plee
"Who is taking it out on you?"
His thoughts immediatly went to Rhys. If Rhys ever laid one hand on her...if he was the reason why she was like this, he was going to kill the other boy, even if it got him kicked out of hogwarts, or made Katta stop talking to him. He would kill Rhys....

Katta looked at him. In the eyes, hers not breaking contact with his.
"You have got to let me go," she said, slowly. "You will make it worse if you dont let me go,"
After a moment, she shook her head, dropping her gaze to the branch she had been sitting on.
"Its not Rhys. He wouldnt ever hit me. He was my first friend. He wouldnt ever hit me after..." She gasped, and covered her mouth with her other hand. Oh, no. If HE found out, she would be dead.

Conclusions were being drawn in his mind. Of course. Why hadn't he guessed it before. He suddently realized that her wrist felt warm in his hand, but not a normal warmth, but warm from a healing injury. He remember how she always flinched when he reached for her, and how she avoided talking about her father...
He opened his mouth to ask if he was right, but he soon closed it again. He knew he was, and it would only hurt to say it outloud. He was feeling anger inside him again, Rhys was forgotten, and now, all he could see in his anger was Katta's father.
"No one else will know Katta. Just me, and I won't let it happen again"

Katta's eyes widened at his words.
"Please let me go. Let me fall away... I need to get to.." she said, trailing off. After making another direct eye contact, she frowned, wrenching her hand away. She overbalanced and fell through the branches landing perfectly into Rhys' arms.
------
Rhys gave a startled step back after he caught Katta. He set her down, thinking she was much lighter than he remembered... She gave him a frightened look and then hurried up the lawn to the castle. He turned his face upwards.
"What did you do to her?" he asked of Kamron. " Not what I meant- sorry. What did she tell you?"
------
Katta ran up the grass, on her way to the Hospital Wing. Nothing would stop her. Nothing... She felt blood pounding in her ears, felt the dizziness of when she said too much taking over. She'd be asleep soon, and then, the worst would come. He would come, haunting her dreams until she woke up to a letter from him. She felt guilt and confusin swirling through her head, choking her. She turned down the Hospital Wing corridor, still running.

Making a few unhappy noises as he climbed back down out of the tree, he landed hevily on the ground. He was just able to see Katta running back towards the castle--but this time he would let her run. He would find her in the common room later. After what she had just told him, her following actions showed she didn't want comforting.
"Nothing" He replied a little more roughly than he intended. He was still unhappy and angry and it was showing through in his voice "To both questions."
He took a step for the castle, watching her enter and wondering where she would be going. He knew not the common room. It would be too crowed.
"But she wants us to stop fighting" He commented, his green eyes never looking away from the castle.

Rhys nodded, knowing Katta had told Kamron much more, maybe without words, but all the same.
"I expected as much," he said, also watching her run. "I heard a crack when she pulled away from you... her wrist? She's been moving it awkwardly. Anyway, it sounds like it broke.."
-----
Katta stopped as she became completely lost in a maze of corridors. The Hospital Wing- where was it? She felt another wave of sickness suck her under. The ground rose up to meet her, on the seventh floor, under a portrait of a woman in a pink silk dress...

Broke. He knew it was hurt, he could feel the heat in it, but he was too caught up in his anger to notice any further damage. Of course now he was blaming his self over it--his attempts to keep her there and talking were responsible for any further injury. He had just said that he wouldn't let it happen again, and now he had done just the oppisit.
He forgot Rhys, and took off at a run. He hurried across the grass and towards the castle. He bounded up the steps and headed down the hall. He had been hit be a bludger often enough to know his way to the Hospital Wing.
His long strides carried him across the stone floor. At first his attention was focused on only one thing, but then he saw a rumbled mess on the stone below a paitning of a woman in a silk dress who seemed rather upset about something.
His stride quickled as he neared it "Katta?"

Colors were swirling in Katta's mind. Making her dizzy, scared. She heard someone call her name. The face loomed into view. Her father. With his good looks and purely venomous disposition, he was enough to frighten her to death.
"You will pay for this one, Katta. You told. You told..."
She writhed, trying to get away from those cold hands that loved to leave marks on her skin. She screamed and her eyes flew open. She sat up abruptly, and then leaned back on her hands. Immediately she crumpled to one side, and her wrist throbbed. She had felt something give, felt it break when he wouldnt let go. And now he knew what haunted her. What made her so unlike eveyone else. And he was right there... In front of her, watching her. Her eyes rolled back in her head and she fell back against the stone floor with a clunk.

He was a few strides away when he saw her sit up and a moment later collapse again. Finally reacher he, he leaned over
"Katta?"
He said, reaching a hand down and touching her arm, tryign to figure out if she was awake, or if she had passed out.
"Katta, please answer..."
He repeated, wanting everything to be okay
