Katta walked slowly into the Great Hall at about 6:00 in the morning. She didnt get much sleep, though it wasnt due to Frodo's periodic naps upon her face. The inner turmoil of living a lie bit at her, and she felt thurughly cruddy for not telling Kamron what was going on. Instead, she put on a smile, and sat down at her usual spot, hoping that Kamron wouldnt try and analyze the previous nights' behavior.
Instead of brooding, she saw Rhys talking with a group of bleary-eyed friends and went over to talk to him, watching the door for Kamron.

Kamron strolled through the door earlier than usual, thought he was still nearly late. Most of the students were already sitting at their tables, breakfast in hand.
Instinctivly his eyes roamed the room, searching for an unusually fascinating display of social behavior. It seemed that it was a rather ordinary morning though, and he walked on to the Ravenclaw table.
He noticed that Katta wasn't in her usual seat, but a glance towards the Gryffindor table--the only other liky spot that she would be, and he saw that she was with Rhys. As far as he knew, that was her only other close frined at Hogwarts.
He proceeded to the enpty seat beside hers, knowing that she would come to the table now that he was here, and he reached across the table to get some toast.

Katta laughed at a joke Rhys had just told to her and his friends, but then caught sight of Kamron, and her laughter died away.
"Rhys, I've got to go... I promised to meet-"
Rhys interrupted her.
"Kamron, right?" he asked, rolling his eyes. The group around the fifth year Ravenclaw frowned with him. "I dont think-" "Yes, Kamron. Kindly dont be a jerk, okay?" she smiled teasingly and walked towards Kamron, a smile on her face.
"Good morning," she said as she sat down at her usual seat. "Had a good sleep last night?"

He coudl see her walking over out of the coner of his eye, and after taking a sip of orange juice to wash down a large bite ot toast he looked over at her, giving her a friendly smile as he did.
"It was about as good as ever" he replied, setting his glass back on the table "Though I keep having these dreams about a faceless man a forest that I can't seem to interpert."
He sighed slightly shrugging before looking at his toast again "How about you?" He asked, jsut before taking another bite

Katta's brow furrowed.
"Faceless man?" she asked, confused. "Hmm..." After a moment, she smiled, and answered his question. "I slept fine" she lied. "I am ready to get to the Library today. Madame Pice has been holding a book on Animagi for me since last June." Katta smiled, almost happy.
"So what do you think your dream has to do with... well, anything?" she asked. "Maybe it was just a pointless figment of the imagination?" She shrugged. "I dont know. I am not good at sociology, or psycholog, or dreamology..." She trailed off as a familiar set of amber eyes caught hers. She tried to smile while watching Rhys look daggers at herself and Kamron. "I have a question, Kamron," she said, her voice low. "Do you know Rhys O'Conor? He's in your year. Anyway, have you two ever fought or something?"

His own mind was thinking about the faceless man, and what it might mean. There were of course many theories. They mainly dependond on whether one wanted to focus on the psychology of it, or more on the dreamology way of interpertation.
"I think that it may have to deal with a problem that I have to face that I am not compleatly aware of yet" he finally decidded, nodding as if pleased with his answer.
"Rhys O'Conor" He said at her question, the comment more of a statement than anything.
"Lets just say that we rub eachother the wrong way."
He knew that Katta and the other boy were friends, so he didn't want to say anything bad about him. They had managed to have some unpleasant run in's almost every year though...

Katta nodded, remembering the many rants Rhys had made about her only other friend.
"Dont worry about hurting my feelings, Kamron, really. I dont care what you say about him. I mean-" she saidnot wanting to say it wrong. "I wont get mad if you dont like him,"
She stopped for a moment, her eys questioning, but then she changed the subject.
"I hope your dreams get more clear," she said, uncertain. She tried again, this time, with a question.
"So, have you figured out my sociological behavior yet?" she asked, half teasing, half curious.

He remained silent at her question for a moment. While she said she woudln't get mad, he knew full well that he and Rhys were her only true friends, and he didn't want to say anything bad about the other boy. Finally he sighed, and decided to give her a simple, yet not compleatly descriptive answer.
"Me and Rhys do not see eye to eye, so we don't along well"
After that, he let the subject change to his dream--which was about as clear as it ever was. He always had it a few times a week, and he wasn't compleatly sure why. He had come to the conclusion that he would buy a book on dreams his next visit to Hogsmead though.
The topic then drifted to her, and he smiled slightly, the mood automaticly befoming lighter with her jesting tone.
"I could spent a life time trying to analyze you, and I still wouldn't understand"
He smiled slightly--of course she was a bit more complicated to understand than most, but he did make an effort to try not to over analyze her. He liked their relationship, and he didn't want to rouine it by thinking to much into things.
"But I know what have to, and I figure I would learn the rest with time."
He grinned slightly, trying to keep everything a joke, though he knew there was a truth behind their words.
"That way we will have to stay friends for a long while"

Katta's smile faded slightly. Again, she was slightly confused. The answer was not what she had expected. She smiled again and teased him.
"Now you sound like a stalker" she said, laughing.
Catching Rhys' angry amber eye, her laughter halted. After looking at Kamron, she looked at her watch.
"Oh, Kamron, I just remebered! Madame Pince has that book for me.. I really have to go," she said, slinging her bag over her shoulder. "Meet you here at lunch?" she asked, walking away, still having not eaten anything.

He raised an eyebrow at her sudden reading to get up and leave. She always did that...
"You haven't eaten anything yet. Can't you pick up the book later?"
He really did have the best in mind for his friend. He cared deeply for her, and he could not help but think of all the muggle sayings about how important breakfast was.
"Why don't you eat something and pick the book up after your first class before you come down to lunch?"

Katta turned back upon hearing his response.
"I can't..." she said, eyeing him wairly. I've been wanting this book for ages. Im not hungry..." She smiled and fled from the Hall, hoping to get to the Library and to her first class before Rhys could catch up with her.
He was always angry after he had seen her talking with Kamron, but was usually quick to get over it. She hurried up the stairs and towards that familiar hallway that lead to her favorite place in the school.
She entered the Library and headed towards Madame Pince's desk. The two spoke for a while, for Katta had always gotten on well with Madame Pince, and then waited for the witch to return with her book.

He sighed watching her go. Even if he tried to analyze her, he wasn't sure he could do it sucessfuly. Right when she seemed to have whole faith in him and their relationship she seemed to pull away again.
He reluctantly finished his breakfast, still wishing she had stayed and eaten someting, before he grabbed his bag and headded off to his first class.
=+=+=+=+= After Morning Class =+=+=+=+=
After a rather sucessful Runes class he moved with the crowd back into the great hall for some lunch. Dispite the fact that he normally had to skip breakfast due to lack of time, he found himself almost hungrier than normal.
As he moved down the Raven table, he didn't see Katta here yet. He shrugged slightly, taking his normal seat and pulling out a his rune book to get started on some homework while he waited for her, wasting no time in grabbing a sandwitch to keep his attention as well.

Katta walked into the Great Hall at lunch, wearing a rather glazed expression, carrying a letter and a heavy looking volume entitled "The Animagi's Ally". She took her seat next to Kamron, averting her eyes from the Gryffindor table, and propped open her book against a jug of pumpkin juice.
"Had a good morning?" she asked of Kamron, while reading hurriedly. "I got distracted at the Library and was late to my first class..." she said, a little disappointed in herself
She smiled to herself, turning the page, and reading eagerly on. She felt the familiar pair of amber eyes come to rest on her, but did not turn around, but continued reading ignoring the plates of food. She took a sip of water, and then turned the page again.
He'll stop if I dont react... she thought, awaiting Kamron's response.

He glanced up from his rune book to give her a friendly smile. He was glad to see that she too had her nose in a book--it meant that he could keep studying his own and not look rude.
"My morning was rather good." he started, his gaze drifting back to his book as he took a bite of his sandwitch, not caring that bread crumbs dribbled across the page "I rather enjoy rune class--though I still am not as good at the locking charms as I wish I was. But the professor did give Ravenclaw 5 points for my work"
He grinned slightly, glancing over at her again. He reached over to the plate before him and grabbed another sandwich, pushing it over to her. She hadn't eaten breakfast, and he wanted to make sure that she ate something for lunch.
As he straightend again, he coudln't help but notice how Rhys stared at her. It was strange though....his eyes seemed almost hostile.
"I take it Rhys is still displeased with our friendship"

Katta nodded, not looking up.
"I'm pretty sure he is... Its not like he DOESNT have friends, though..." She turned a page, slowly, sipping more water. "Anyway, he's really nice... to me. He isnt like my d- I mean my... cat." she finished, knowing it sounded lame. She looked warily at the sandwich he had pushed towards her. She smiled, and pushed it back.
"I like apples," she said, taking one and putting it in her bag, and then biting another. After a few more minutes of study, she stood up and waved to Kamron.
"I told Rhys I'd come talk to him. I'd better, unless you want him to be mad at the both of us," she said, turning and walking away, tossing her apple on the floor discreetly.

He watched her walk away for a moment. She had always been like this--he kept telling himself that, but it seemed to bother him more now. He hadn't seen her take more than that bite of apple since they came to Hogwarts, and she was always leaving, and making excuses.
His green eyes focused on her for a while, watching her go towards the Gryffindor table. Then he decided--she was his friend, and he cared too much for her to just let things get brushed away any more.
Picking up his rune book, he dropped it into his bag and he walked after her. She was already with Rhys, talking about something as he came up behind her, but for some reason he wanted to back his friend up--even if she did say the other boy was nice to her.

Katta sat on Rhys' knee as she and his friends joked around. She nearly lost her balance as Rhys abruptly stood up, facing away from her. Katta's eyes widened at the sight of Kamron.
Rhys' eyes narrowed. "What do you want, Leopold?" he asked, evenly.
Katta tugged at his arm. "Leave him alone, Rhys. He's my friend. You dont have to-" Rhys silenced her with a look.
After an uncomfortable moment, Katta turned, gave Rhys a hug, and then headed to the door, not wanting to see any fighting. God knows she had enough of yelling at home. She hunched her shoulders as she ran, and burst out of the main doors to the Grounds, memories of the summer flooding through her.

He stared at Rhys for a long moment--his body never moving. He almost didn't know what it was he was feeling, or what it was he intended to do. He just felt as if the other boy was the enemy, as if for some reason, he was responsible for whatever it was that hurt Katta, and he didn't want to just let it happen.
"I don't know what it is you do...but she is my friend, and if I have to fight everyone in this school to make her truly happy again I will, so don't think I'm afraid of fighting you"
His green eyes were still steady, staring at Rhys. He then turned quickly and headed out after Katta.

Katta paused for a moment on the stone steps, then fled in the direction of the beech tree which still ore the names of the infamous Marauders. Dubbed by those who knew about it as the Marauder's Tree, it was looked on as a sacred place. As Katta reached it, she immediately swung herself up into its branches, and then climbed higher, completely invisible to passers by.
She looked back, and saw a familiar figure near the doors. Kamron. She sighed, and sat down in her high perch, knowing that eventually, she would have to get down.
--------
Rhys stared after Kamron's retreating back. His anger quickly ebbed away, leaving him with only one thought: Katta. He thinks Im doing this to Katta. Sure, he had no idea what was going on with her. She had dropped her two apples she had previously put in her bag. She didnt eat anything- he hadnt seen her eat anything since June. Of course, she would have eaten at home... He hadnt seen her in so long, but that wasnt the point. He got no post from her over the holidays. She was always around Kamron. Why couldnt it be like the pre-Hogwarts years? From when they were six ( she was four) to when he was 13, she always was with him. Now her time was split between them. Thinking about it made him angry again, and he hurried towards the exit to go and talk to her- if he got there first.

He stepped outside and hurried towards the trees, but his friend was no where in sight. He looked around for any sign of her, his green eyes searching. Finally he came to a halt, throughally confused to here she was. He did know that searching was going to be no use. If she didn't want to be seen, she would place her self so no one would see her. He had studied enough people to know the ones who managed to do that...
"Katta..." He started, standing on the grass and still looking around for her. "Please come out"
