It was a bright afternoon as Hagrid sat on his bench, reminiscing the great times he had with many of his 'monster' friends. Of course, Aragog had a thriving colony in the Forbidden Forest, Buckbeak was spending great time with the Order in Number 12 Grimmauld Place, Norbert was now a grown Dragon down in Romania, Fluffy had been taken back to its owner in Greece, and Gawp had finally learned to speak English semi-fluently. Hagrid got up and took down a dead chicken that was hanging from the ceiling and began roasting it over the fire. It's aroma was almost unbearible and Hagrid's mouth began watering almost instantaneously. But, instead of chomping down on the sumptuous lunch he had, Hagrid strode out of his cabin and went to inspect his Hippogriff herd, which Jaquin had kindly took care of over the last week.
The snow crunched softly under his collosal boots as Hagrid made his way back to the cabin. An amalgamation of blue, yellow, and white covered the sky as the sun began to set behind a curtain of clouds. He went inside and waited for Harry, Ron, and Hermione to arrive for their scheduled meeting.

Harry skipped dinner and was studing in the library, alone. He hardly ever skipped the last meal of the day- but he was having a potions test soon and he couldnt deal with failing that. The clock chimed, as Harry looked up. Quickly remembering, he had a meeting with Hagrid along with Hermione and Ron. Deciding Hermione and Ron were together, he would just meet up with them at Hagrid's hut. Putting back the borrowed Potions book, Harry made his way out of the library.
Evening was setting in on the brisk winter horizon. Harry reached the massive oak doors after a few minutes of wandering his way down to the main hallway. Pushing one door open an abrubt cold breeze covered Harry, and slightly tossed his hair about. Crossing his arms in front of his body, he held his black cloak closed and tryed to keep in the warmth from his body. Snow was falling lightly as the evening hours came to an end. Finally reaching Hagrid's hut, Harry noticed the steamy air in front of his face as he breathed heavily. Knocking on the door, Harry waited for Hagrid to greet him on his arrival.

"Aye, 'arry! Haven' seen ye' 'round my place fer a long time. Didn't forget where I lived, did you? Well, I'm glad ye' showed up. So, how 'as school been? O' course, I've been busy all year. Where do ye' reckon' Ron an' Hermione are?" Hagrid said in his usual, gruff voice. "Guess what surprise I 'ave for yer after we talk?" Hagrid glanced at the curtains, which were drawn closely together. "I've got ter tell ye 'bout Gawp..... He can speak lots o English, now..." He did not want another slip-up of information falling into the wrong hands. Vaguely reminiscing the dentrimental impact Norbert had on his record at the ministry, Hagrid was suspicious that behind those curtains was a nosy, blond Slythering prefect by the name of Malfoy. The thought of Norbert still brought tears of elation to Hagrid, as he had always dreamed of having a pet dragon.
The sky slowly darkened to a starry, Cimmerian sky that was an amalgamation of black and purple. Hagrid got up almost upturning the table and turned towards one of the windows in the massive hut and drew them together. Walking towards the side chamber where Hagrid kept a storage of food and drink, he brought out sumptuous loafs of bread, a few all famous rock cakes, and some butterbeer. "Eat all ye like, Harry," Hagrid said as he noticed that Harry looked a bit thin. Perhaps it was because of the extra studying needed in the N.E.W.T.s years that was taking a toll on the extroadinary wizard. Hagrid had heard from Dumbledore that Harry had earned outstandings in both potions and DADA in his O.W.L.s and was on his way to becoming a great auror.

Hermione was studying in the library, as she usually did when she noticed the time. She packed up her books and took them back to the Gryffindor dormitories, she had a date with Hagrid, Ron and Harry and she wouldn’t miss it for the entire world. She had no idea that just a few racks away, Harry was studying as well. She placed her books neatly on her bed and then grabbed her coat and scarf, it was red and gold, but different to the other school scarves because her mother had made it for her as a Christmas gift, and Hermione loved it. she pulled her brown hair back into a neat ponytail, slipped on her gloves, draped her scarf around her neck and walked out of the dorm and down to the entrance of the school. As she pushed open the door a cold breeze hit her right in the face and sent a shiver through her. She wrapped her arms around herself and stepped out. The sun was setting and she no longer had the sun’s warmth as she crossed the grass towards Hagrid’s hut.
She reached the hut quickly, not wanting to stay in the cold for very long. She knocked on the door and waited for a second for Hagrid to let her in. She looked over at the coral nearby where most of the animals were up and about, but one or two were asleep.

While Harry and Hermione had skipped dinner in order to spend more time studying potions, he had absolutly refused. When Harry had told him, he had insisted that he was not about to let Snape make him miss a meal and there was pleanty of time to study later. The only problem was that he had almost forgotten that later he was supose to meet Harry and Hermione at Hagrids. He remember as he was leaving the great hall, when he caught a glimpse of Hermione dashing out the door, triggering his memory.
He ran after her, deciding it would take to long to go back up to the dorms and get his scarf and gloves. He stayed just far enough behind Hermione so he guessed that she didn't know he was that, that was until she stopped at the door, and waited for Hagrid to open the door.
"Hermione!" he called, finally coming to a stop beside her and trying to catch his breath

Harry smiled as Hagrid greeted him with a warming smile at the door."Hey there Hagrid. School has been really busy. NEWTS are harsh!" Harry spoke as she went and found a seat. The warmth from Hagrid's fire was always nice to feel from the cold breeze which seemed to follow him the whole way down to his friend's hut. "Hermione and Ron have been fine. They should be on their way soon. Doubt any would miss." Harry said as he grabbed a butterbeer for himself and smiled at Hagrid for providing himself with one.
Twisting the cap, Harry heard a knock at the door. 'Someones here.' Harry thought to himself, as he heard a farmilar voice call out, "Hermione." Seems they both are here. Harry took a sip of the butterbeer as it bubbled all the way down. Harry missed these meeting of theirs, but this year has been full of things- its hard to get together, but today was going to be a nice one. Harry knew it. A grin appeared on his face as he waited for Hagrid to reach the door.

"Aye...... There mus' be someone at the door," Hagrid grumbled as he heard the sound of a pair of knuckles bang on the gargantuan door. "All righ', all righ' I'm comin'!-Hagrid turned his shaggy face towards Harry.-Bet that's Hermione and Ron." With a bright smile, he turned back towards the door and with his enormous hand, Hagrid opened the door. He was not surprised to see the highly and ever intelligent Hermione standing by the doorway while Ron was his old, noble self. He glanced outside at the full moon had risen. Its rays cascaded about and cause penumbrae to spread throughout the surrounding environment like a forest fire. He looked up towards Hogwarts castle to see its multitudinous lights still shining. His elation rose even further up the scale as Hermione and Ron entered. Hagrid closed and bolted the door behind him.
After adding fuel to the voracious fire, Hagrid turned back to the trio whom were sitting around the massive table. Drawing up his chair, Hagrid sat down and eyed the three of them. Giving each of them a fresh bottle of butterbeer, Hagrid began, "Well, I didn't call ye'all in fer nothin', but, I thought that you ought te' know that Gawp has learned to speak English very well. An' after Dumbledore wen' down ter talk with 'im, Gawp has been assigned to gaurd the forest an' the school, especially from any Death Eaters. The centuars have welcomed back Firenze and have now agreed on terms ter' not bother Gawp and any of us. They didn' seem too keen ter help us, but, those centaurs will have their part ter play." He drank and gulped down a large amount of butterbeer from a tankard and asked, "So, 'ow has school been goin', Ron, Hermione?"

The cold of the night air didn't really hit him until he was standing at the door with Hermione. As Hagrid's door swung open, and he was greated by a rush of warm air, he was sure he had never been so happy to step inside his friends hut. The use to spend far more time at the groundskeepers corner of Hogwarts, but with NEWT's these days it seemed like they were never able to escape school. Hermione had given him another one of those calendar things that yelled at you when your homework wasn't done, and she made sure he kept it around. Something about how she cared more about his grades than he did sometimes.
He happily accepted his butterbeer and settled down beside Harry to enjoy the the fire as he twisted off the cap of his drink and took a large gulp. Butterbeer always seemed to warm you from the inside.
"That's great about Gwap and the Centuars and everything Hagrid. Can't imagine how much work that was. School's not too bad most of the time. Lots of work really."
