Emerald green in color, made from the finest silk money could buy, the new robe Pansy held in her hands was in one word, perfect. Stupid parents who have stupid allowances, and stupid behavior rules were not appreciated. Her parents' overly harsh punishment this year of 20 galleons a week had taught Pansy one thing, self control. The concept of having to behave in order to get her money each week made her much more tame in a sense. The frequent violent outbursts that had tormented her victims in previous years were now confined to the Slytherin Common Room. Still, no one dared antagonize her, though dormant that fierce nature was always present in Pansy, a milli-second away from bursting forth. Self control in the face of those clearly deserving to be abused and punished was one of the toughest things Pansy had to learn, yet the fruits of her restraint were now in her hands. 105 galleons saved up and she now was reaping the benefits. Pulling over her new robe over her Hogwart’s uniform, Pansy admired herself in the mirror as she fastened her robe with it’s golden clips.
It was the perfect robe for the perfect day. Though it was just an ordinary day for the rest of the school, for Pansy and her gang of Slytherin girls, it was something far more significant. The inner circle, the Queens were on the verge of expansion. The solid group had found another in their midst, one who had proven herself worthy of their time. Yet today, today they were to see if this person, Samantha was really up to par with them or if she was yet another talker. Talkers were fine, it was always nice to be able to talk down to lesser people, but talk alone wasn’t enough to be a Queen. One would also need the ability to get dirty, to prove one’s superiority. This was where so many prospective Queens had failed and Pansy was quite irked by that. To her, every Slytherin should have the skills the Queens flaunted.
The time was now at hand and Pansy walked out of her dormitory and began to walk up the steps to the common room when a little brat running up from a lower dormitory ran into her on the steps. Her dormitory was the 2nd one down the set of steps, meaning there were five dormitories lower than her and she frequently had these mishaps, and quite enjoyed them. Immediately Pansy spun around to see who it was this time and found it to be a stupid little 2nd year. A perfect start to hopefully a perfect day! Pansy grabbed the girl with both hands by the collar and forefully slammed her little body against the stone wall, then drew her wand and pointed it at the girl’s face. “WHAT!?” Pansy screamed at the girl as she glared back. “Come on! Come on and have some!” Pansy yelled at her and the little girl either out of fear or intelligence lowered her eyes to look at Pansy’s feet. “That’s right! Stupid little witch! For running into me, I’m going to charge you, five sickles this time. Hand them over!” The little girl muttered something that Pansy could barely hear. “What?! You don’t have it you say!? FINE! Next time I see you, you WILL pay me 10 sickles! If you don’t have it then you WILL owe me 20! NOW GET OUT OF MY FACE!” At the harsh words the little girl scurried up the last flight of steps past the 7th year dorms and out of site. That was quite a good warm up, Pansy thought to herself as she shut the door to the 6th year’s dorm and walked up the steps past the 7th year dorms and into the common room and then out the exit.
In a few moments Pansy found herself in the Great Hall where she was to meet the others. It was an off hour, 2pm and thus the hall itself was virtually empty, only a few stragglers left here and there. One of them immediately caught her eye, it was her little Hufflepuff. “Noko-O-whatever your name is! COME HERE!” Pansy shrieked across the hall as she then went over the Slytherin table and sat down. After a hard day of yelling, her throat was now a bit parched and so she poured herself a glass of apple juice to quench her thirst while she waited for some more Queens to arrive, and most importantly, Samantha.

A slender figure stood absently flipping the pages of a potions book but not reading a word. The library was scant that day, no one to torment, much to Hendrix Night’s great disappointment, but the day still held great promise. She had received a rather fantastic gift from her grandmother that morning, a gold broach of a snake with ruby eyes and emerald scales, she adored it. Hendrix never wanted for anything, much like the rest of the Queens of Slytherin, except for poor Pansy, whose parents were to say the least lacking in their giving attitude lately, but this had proved to do one thing…tame Pansy’s temper, at least outside the common room. Hendrix was never bothered by the outrageous outburst and frequent decimation of furniture when someone riled up the sixth year, in fact she enjoyed it.
She slammed the book shut and shoved it back on to the shelf, unlike her brother, Hendrix did not spend all her day concocting potions to do what she wanted, no, instead she liked to be up close and personal with every person she had to “deal” with. Hendrix was always someone who went right for the jugular, and she never missed where she aimed her dagger, be it a heart or a head, she never failed in her endeavours. She was sporting a brand new look for the school year, her hair had been straightened completely and she wore it straight as an arrow, falling over her slender shoulders.
She was walking out of the library when she came upon a Gryffindor sixth year girl whose name she didn’t remember, but that wasn’t important, what was important was that she was a mudblood, and Hendrix hated mudbloods. She stepped right into her path, “Watch it…mudblood,” she said slowly and with a slight hiss to her tone. The girl tried to bypass her but Hendrix was too fast and was in front of her again. “You are that Gryffindor girl who thinks that they should never have let Salazar Slytherin help found this school?” she said, eyeing her life an animal does its prey. The girl glared at her and Hendrix took on a new appearance, a hint of venom in her eyes. “Don’t you dare look at me like that!! Who do you think you are?” she said raising her voice. The girl lowered her eyes immediately, giving Hendrix immense satisfaction. “You see, you are allowed by pure charity to be at this school, and you have the audacity, to degrade the greatest of the founders, filthy mudblood? If I had my way, all of your kind would be out of this school,” she said, but truly she would wipe every mudblood off the planet if she could. The girl was saved by pure luck, Madam Pince came by and gave Hendrix a look so she moved out of the girl’s way and then watched her walk away. As soon as the librarian had disappeared, Hendrix flicked her wand covertly out of the sleeve of her brand new, silk robes and made a puddle of water appear just in front of the girl’s feet. She was so busy looking back at Hendrix that she didn’t see it and slipped and fell flat on her face. Hendrix watched with an amused look and waited for the girl to look her way, she then turned on her heals and left, “You really should watch where you’re going,” she called over her shoulder as she walked out of sight towards the Great Hall and her meeting with the Queens.
Hendrix was in the Great Hall in no time at all and she walked over to where Pansy was sitting. She looked at the little Hufflepuff in disgust, “They should all be gone,” she said under her breath to Pansy as she sat across from her. Hendrix never bothered with formalities such as customary greetings; she liked to get right to the point. She was here for a purpose, to establish whether or not Samantha Driscoll had what it took to be a Queen of Slytherin and to execute a bit of business, namely getting the Queens back in high gear. She had a talk with her grandmother, a Death Eater and proud, and she thought that the girls needed to make their presence known again, a fact that Hendrix fully agreed with. The mudbloods were getting away too easily these days, especially since she had been taken up with business of a more severe nature.
She looked at Pansy, “So, do you really think Samantha has what it takes?” she asked with a sly grin. Hendrix was going to enjoy watching Samantha’s initiation into the Queens, if she was up to it of course.

Samantha slammed her Ancient Runes textbook shut. Finally… that stupid Ancient Runes essay was out of the way and she had a few minutes to herself before going to the Great Hall for a rather unusual meeting. Samantha pulled open her drawer and took out her father's last letter to her, whispered a charm and read its contents carefully before setting it on fire and making sure it was completely burnt before she turned her attention to anything else. Her father had told her to keep her training in the Dark Arts in secret, even from those close to her as he didn't want any awkward questions asked, and Samantha abided by his wishes with protesting. The Dark Arts held a secret passion for her, they satisfied her craving for power and love of control; made her feel she could be the mistress of any of situation and of any person. She shivered involuntarily as she remembered her father trying to teach her the Cruciatus curse and actually putting the charm on her for a minute, the pain that had surged through her body had been incredible, and she thought she would never get up again after he did so. But she had, though she had not yet mastered the curse herself. It was of a complexity she had not imagined, and something about casting it eluded her.
Samantha smiled slowly as she looked at her reflection in the mirror beside her bed. It was a cool and calculating smile, and in that moment something about the teenage girl resembled a cobra coiling and uncoiling around itself, thinking about how best to attack its prey. She was quite aware that the girls she would be meeting in a minute probably had a good background in the Dark Arts, but she wondered if they knew her own background and exactly how much evil she was capable of committing if she was in the correct mood. She knew for instance that Melantha Aradia was not one to stop at anything, and one to relish the moments of hurting others without mercy. Pansy Parkinson she felt was more of a bully, but real evil and torture, she did not know about that. Samantha herself was a moody person. In moments when she was furious she believed she could commit murder cold-bloodedly, at other times she found it difficult to cast curses on people just for the fun of it. Today though she was going to have to show the Queens her true abilities – but just being at Hogwarts always irked her and aroused the worst in her. He wondered what exactly the Queens had in mind her. Though she would not admit it even if she was in mortal danger Samantha was a little disconcerted and worried that she might not live up to their expectations. But no, she would show them. She was Samantha Driscoll, and if they wanted to see what she could do, she would show them.
Samantha tightened the belt around her waist. It was gold and contrasted with the dark burgundy robes she was wearing today. Trying to cast curses in flowing robes was a nuisance, especially if they required one to move quickly if in the middle of several combatants. She did not think that would be the case today, but one had to be careful. She did not know what they would come up with, and they were five girls all working together to put her to the test so to speak, so she would have to take every precaution she could think of. She wondered what exactly had made them decided to let her enter their group. Whatever it was Samantha had been delighted when she was asked to do so but she had kept her excitement in check. It would never to do how proud she felt at being chosen; after all she had an image to keep.
Samantha walked sedately down to the Great Hall with her wand in her hand where she found Pansy and Hendrix already waiting. They were early as Samantha knew she had arrived exactly in time for their appointment. Any trace of nervousness was carefully concealed as Samantha greeted the two Slytherins. "Hello Pansy and Hendrix," she said when she reached them. "Love the brooch, Hendrix," she continued, attempting to sound sincere. Samantha's voice was always dispassionate, but she did really think the snake was eye-catching. She tapped her wand as she waited for them to make the first move. She felt that that would be the safest approach. She wondered if any of the other Queens was going to show up.

The Great Hall was no where near as crowded as normal, but that was how she liked it. It seemed that in the winter, when the students were forced to stay inside that the whole castle seemed to shrink, and for a second year with a deep shy streak, the less crowded Great Hall seemed the best place to get some extra reading done. Now, she sat near the far end of the Hufflepuff table, her bairly chin legnth brunette hair pulled up into a rather akward high ponytail.
She was rather focused on her book on magical creatures when she herd her name, or something similar at least, being called across the room. She looked over her shoulder to see a familiar Slytherin trying to get her attention. For a moment, she froze, not sure what she should do. It took her a second to try and control her self before she rose from her seat, dropping her book into the faded blue bag that she hung on her shoulder before walking over to the Slytherin table, notincg as she went that Pansy had been joined by two others.

Saski Stark was wandering the grounds of Hogwarts, she had received a letter from one of her sisters, she had bought a new villa in Milan. This fact annoyed Saski to no end, for she was not permitted to get a villa yet, she had to wait till after she graduated, which forced her to stay in a hotel, though it was a magnificent one, the best that money could buy, she would prefer a place that was all her own. Needless to say this news had put Saski in a particularly bad mood, and everyone she passed knew it. The sixth year’s heels slammed against the floors in the corridor and now were used to mash some silly little flower a group of second year Hufflepuffs were admiring. Stupid idiots all of them. Saski hated few things more than a Hufflepuff; they were a Hufflepuff mudblood and her all time anger point, Slytherins who made friends with the likes of these. For a long time Saski had a hexing for a particular Slytherin, but that time would come soon enough.
She was dressed in brand new robes as were her friends if she knew anything about them, looks were important, who had to show your clout on the outside as well as with the air of dignity that they possessed, after all they were purebloods from some of the best families. Now Saski had a particular seat she liked when she was out on the grounds, a quiet one under a large oak that most people knew to stay away from if she was anywhere in sight, but today someone was hell bent on aggravating Saski. She stood at a distance for a second eyeing the Ravenclaw girl who dared to occupy her space, she tapped her wand against her leg thinking of a hex but knowing she couldn’t cast one out there in the open. When the girl still didn’t seem to get the point even after she saw Saski, this was it! She was in front of the girl in a millisecond, fire in her eyes and her voice lowered menacingly. The girl was a fourth year, she had been in the school long enough to know how this works, but she still hadn’t moved. “Do you know whose seat you’re sitting on?” she asked with the malice oozing from every syllable.
The girl looked up about to say something when she noticed who it was, Saski Stark one of the most feared girls in Hogwarts. “I…I…I…” the girl stuttered. “I…I…I…What?” Saski yelled. “I’m sorry I didn’t see you,” she tried to explain. “I doubt that. Now get up!!!!” the girl began to pack up her things, homework it looked like to Saski, but she was taking too long. “Let me help you,” she said with a smile. Saski took out her wand, “Reducto” she said and in an instant all the girls papers and books had vanished. Saski then grabbed her by the collar and threw her out of her seat, the girl landed hard in a muddy patch. “Next time, don’t sit in my seat!” she screamed as the girl ran off crying. Saski smirked amused, the day was improving.
She was about to take a seat when she noticed the time, she had to get to the Great Hall to meet the others, and their prospect Samantha Driscoll. Saski walked across the lawns and back to the school in no time at all, but she didn’t run, a Stark never ran. She entered the Great Hall to find, Pansy, Hendrix and Samantha already there, and some idiot Hufflepuff. As she got to the table, “Who invited the retard here?” she asked referring to the Hufflepuff. “What does she want?” not once did Saski speak to the girl directly. “Hendrix, Pansy. Samantha, I see you made it. good.” She smirked and took a seat next to Pansy. “I would have been here early but I had someone to deal with,” she said.

Pansy gave Hendrix a mischievous grin as she joined her, she had already called over her little pet and was now looking forward to seeing what all she could get this little one to do. "Noko-o-homos sit down" Pansy said as she pointed to the bench in front of her and then fished into her pocket and pulled out a little book. "OK, I need you to take this book back to the library for me, it was due on the 22nd, and now it's the 23rd." Pansy then went into her coin purse and pulled out 4 knuts and threw them down on the table in front of the Hufflepuff. "That should do, 4 knuts a day late, and if it's not enough for some reason. You just have to deal with it yourself, you're smart I supposed, you know that I am your better and willingly do what I ask so you can figure the rest out. Now run along Noko-o-homisis, we've got work to do." Once the little girl was out of site Pansy burst out laughing. "Did you see that !? She's actually going to take that book back! I wonder what Pince will say!?" What Pansy had simply forgotten to mention was the fact that the book was due January 22nd, 4 years ago.
In short time Samantha and Sassy showed up, they were now only waiting on Dawn, Melantha and Israel. "Alright Samantha I hope you are ready, because you will not get a second chance with us. This is what will happen, we're going to take you around school and whoever we run into, you'll have to show us what you've got. This isn't a good place to start though, too many witnesses, we'll have to take a walk in the corridors. So lets get going, the others can catch up with us."
Out the Great Hall Pansy led her gang and then up several flights of stairs till they reached the library floor. This was surely going to be an easy place to find some pathetic looser to pick on. Down a corridor Pansy walked until she reached a row of study rooms. Walking past each she peered in and saw no one worthwhile. Then a creaking noise caught her attention from one of the study rooms further down the hallway. A lone Hufflepuff exited the room and was walking away from them towards the stairs. With a grin on her face Pansy quickened her pace after the girl, "Hey you!" She shrieked at the younger girl, "Come here! We just want to talk to you!" With a grin now wide across her face Pansy quickly closed in on the girl but stopped a good 15 feet away from her, "Alright Samantha, we'll start with this one."

Ivy was sitting in a T-room, staring out of the window at the flakes of snow falling past it. They mirrored her heart. It had turned cold. Not quite as cold as ice. It could thaw, like the snow that was falling on the roadside, but it was enveloping anything that was her living self inside a tight prison, like the snow falling upon the layers on the grassy banks of the frozen lake. She sighed heavily. She had not heard from her mother since her father's death. She wished that her mother would write something... to explain. Why one person should be more precious than another, why a gift of magic should be such an atrocious thing to possess.
Ivy swung her legs off the desk and stumbled her way out of the room. She made her way to the stairs, and paused, uncertain which way she should go. Up? Down? It didn't make any difference. The same misery lay in both directions. Ivy decided on down. Down to somewhere where she could talk to a friend. Or maybe to the sanctuary of a book. At least then she wouldn't be in the real world. Ivy jumped as she heard a shriek, and looked round, immediately wishing she hadn't done, as she saw that the owner of the voice was a much older Slytherin. Who was with a group of other Slytherins. Ivy stopped, unsure what she should do. There was no point running, of course. If they wanted to have fun, they would have it. No Slytherins at this time of morning would be out just to 'talk' to an insignificant Hufflepuff. She stood her ground, not shaking, and trying not to meet their eyes, anxious not to enrage them. At this moment in time she couldn't have cared less what they did to her anyway. "Yes?" she asked quietly, feeling a sense of forboding despite her resolve that things couldn't get much worse.

Israel was a little annoyed by the turn of events. She was supposed to be meeting the other Queens of Slytherin that very second, but instead she was sitting in a classroom with Professor McGonagall going over some transfiguration nonsense she really didn’t care about at the point in time, she didn’t want to miss Samantha Driscolls’ trial to see if she had the stuff to be a Queen. She wrote as fast as she could, it was extra work for NEWTs that McGonagall wanted to make sure they had down.
Finally, the class was over and Israel was about to go to the Great Hall, there was no time to put her books back, that is until she spotted a first year Slytherin boy coming her way. “Hey you!!” she called at him, waiting for him to come over to her. The boy looked at her timidly, “Well? Get over here!” she yelled again as the boy made no attempt to move from his positions. “Listen up! Take these back the dorms. If I don’t find them on the table in the common room when I get back, you are buying me new ones. Understood?” the boy nodded and then stopped, “But I have a class now?” he dared to say. “So? What does that have to do with what I just told you? Get my books back to the dorms now! Move it!” she yelled at him and then watched as he scampered off towards the dorms.
She was walking down the stairs when she spotted the others coming her way, she propped against the rail, “Hey girls. Sorry I’m late, got caught up with McGonagall.” She fell inline with the others, and what a sight that must have been to those they came across, some of the most fearsome girls in the school all walking together. They made their way to the library floor where Pansy found the perfect specimen for Samantha’s first test, a pathetic little Hufflepuff just waiting for them. Israel looked at Hendrix, Sassy with a grin and then back at Pansy, this should be fun.

The three girls were soon joined by another member of the queens – Saski Stark. Samantha could tell she had probably just been really cruel to someone, the contented look on her face spoke for itself. Well, she wasn't the only people were going to hate if Samantha executed all her plans today. The Queens had set her a task she did not think would be too hard, considering her pastime of torturing muggles when she was in a bad mood. Of course this was the first time she would be doing it in the open so to speak, Samantha always avoided getting caught so she could cause as much trouble as she liked. But today she was not worried. She had only one goal and was focusing on it without letting anything else occupy any part of her thoughts. She watched amusedly as Pansy bullied a Hufflepuff second year and then listened to her words in a seemingly aloof manner but inwardly thinking she was not one who need second chance. This was not Ancient Runes – it was showing people who was in control. And if there was one thing Samantha prided herself upon, it was that. She followed the girls down the corridor until a victim was found.
Samantha slipped her wand into her robe and then cracked her knuckles before slipping her hand in and closing it firmly around her wand. She had a plan in mind and there was a malicious glint in her eyes as the Slytherin girls formed a circle around the third year. Samantha was a person who did things at her own pace making sure the result was exactly as she had planned it. She stood in front of the young Hufflepuff for a few moments and gave her a piercing stare. Where had seen her before… she suddenly remembered and a felt fury well up inside her. She was one of her no account brother's friends! This revelation made Samantha view her initiation in a completely different light. Not only did she want to prove her worth to the other Slytherin girls, but she wanted to get back back at the people whose company he preferred to her own. She gazed unwaveringly at the girl for several minutes as if challenging her, enjoying the sense of power it gave to see her shift uncomfortably under the strength of her gaze. It was so cold she might have frozen water had she been staring at it so intensely.
After the pregnant pause Samantha spoke up, her voice much as usual and as if nothing at all was the matter. "You know something?" she said coolly in her arrogant aristocratic voice that was so devoid of emotion. "It never ceases to amaze me how some – people – enjoy being in a place they know they will always be lower – oh sorry – much lower – than anyone around them. What is that is so satisfying about knowing you are worth nothing and dirt is probably of more value than you are? Why not stay in the world where perhaps you may have hope of at least being treated as an equal?" asked Samantha, though she was not really expecting an answer. "You must agree with me that such people deserve what's coming to them, no? I mean they're the ones who made the choice to be a part of our world. A world to which they have no right, and will never have any right to belong to?" she said raising her eyebrows. She was about ready to strike. Again she was very much like a cobra, but now the cobra had coiled itself around its prey and would soon bite it, the venomous substance it secreted was the curse Samantha would be casting any time now. She was just waiting to see if she was having any effect on the girl before her.

Ivy kept her face passive, staring at a spot on the wall just below the girl's chin. Ivy thought there was something familiar about her, actually, although she couldn't quite place it. Ivy knew that she was in trouble. These girls were obviously looking for it. She also knew that there was no way of getting out of it. So she stayed put.
As much as Ivy tried to block out the words, every one of them got through to her. She had soon found when she arrived at Hogwarts that she was not wanted by everyone there, and had learned to stay out of the way of the less pleasant characters. Ivy disagreed that she was any less able than the girls standing in front of her because of blood. Blood did not distinguish her from any of the other people at the school. She had no doubt that the girls standing round her were far more powerful than she. They were sixth years. Enough said. Ivy might be intelligent, but she was not at their standard. Where the words really penetrated Ivy was those about not belonging. Ivy knew full well that she did not really belong anywhere. She had used to belong here. But she had used to belong in the Muggle world too. But she had thrown that away, and along with it her mother. She was paying for that now. Not these girls - she was just unlucky there. They were just bullies. Vicious ones, no doubt. She was paying for it in that she didn't belong anywhere anymore. "What's done is done," Ivy said quietly, staring at the stone wall which seemed to be wavering slightly.

In spite of herself Samantha was a little surprised. Why this state of apathy and complete surrender? Samantha loved it when her victims got annoyed and tried to fight back; it spurred her on and brought out the worst in her. This indifference and surrender of the girl was very off-putting and unexpected. She was hoping for at least a bit of an argument before taking out her wand. She liked watching her victim struggle and try to escape the same way a cat enjoyed torturing a mouse before it killed him. Nevertheless, the Queens were expecting something. So she was going to show them the hexes she could use if that was what they wanted.
Samantha moved very close to the Hufflepuff and then slowly bent down until their eyes were at exactly the same level. "What's done is done," she repeated softly. "It is quite unfortunate, isn't it, that that is not the case. You will find that no-one takes kindly to people intruding where they are not wanted. If those people cannot see that they are not wanted and choose to remain – then action must be taken. They must be forced to leave," said Samantha, her voice very low and deadly, her eyes narrowed into slits with a wicked glint in them.
Samantha's brain was working at a furious speed as she talked to Ivy. She had considered putting the Full Body Bind on her and leaving her in the corridor, then thought better of it. The girl might know the counter-curse. The minute she finished talking she straightened herself and her wand was out and under Ivy's chin. She was going to carry out her plan. She traced Ivy's jaw bone with the wand and then placed it on the apex of her forehead. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a spider scuttle down the corridor. How ironic that was… enough thinking. "Rehasher weberium!" said Samantha, and threads of the finest silk streamed out of her wand. They encircled the girl before her, tightening around her body. "Enden peresharium!" she said and the silk changed to rope. Both were curses that were considered to be borderline between the dark arts and defence curses, Samantha was not so reckless to use a dark curse at school. Getting into trouble with the school was one thing, but getting herself and her father into trouble with the Ministry was a completely different thing – she didn't want anybody knowing what she had been studying in secret, not even the Queens for now. If she did tell them she would certainly not show them in school - they might get caught.
Samantha then gave Ivy a push and crossed her arms over her chest. She stood over her and then talked with the air of someone finishing off their homework. "I almost forgot you know," she said coldly with a smile that made her look exceedingly evil. "Silencio!" she said, and then waved at the girl. "Have fun waiting for someone to find you," she said. She then put her wand away, leaned against the wall and waited for further instruction from the other girls. She had enjoyed those few moments of power, but now they were over she was not feeling as happy as she had thought she would. She told herself it was because Ivy had put up no resistance and this had been too easy. There could be no other reason of course.

Pansy watched as Samantha began the tormenting. Though she was doing well, the simple fact was that she was picking on a Hufflepuff who had no pride in herself. There was no real worth to this confrontation. Walking up to Samantha, Pansy walked past her and over to where the Hufflepuff was laying on the ground. Kneeling down next to her Pansy smirked at the little girl, then began to search the girl’s robes. Fishing around her pockets Pansy pulled a couple of sickles and two pieces of candy. “Thanks, though this is hardly worth the effort” she said to the girl as she lightly slapped her face, “don’t worry, someone will find you, but if you know what is best, you will NOT tell them we were here.”<br> “Alright lets go, there’s got to be someone better around here” Pansy said as she began walking back the way they had come to the stairwell. Up the stairs two more flights she went and then she turned down a corridor with a few classrooms that were all empty. Eventually at the end of a hallway they reached another set of stairs when she heard the sounds of footsteps. Walking to the stairs Pansy stopped and waited as the steps began louder and louder. Looking up the steps she saw another girl coming down the steps, yet another Hufflepuff. “Quick, hide!” She told the others as Pansy leaned up against the wall out of view of the stairwell and waited for the Hufflepuff to show up. In less than a minute the Hufflepuff girl had stepped off the stairs. “Hello there” Pansy said as she stepped out from by the wall and right up to the girl, “what’s a Hufflepuff like you doing all alone here? Something awful might happen to you” she said with a smirk.

Vanessa was in desperate need of time alone. She was quite agitated at the moment because, of a few things her aunt and uncle had said to her through a letter and she needed to vent off some anger; which is why she was unfortunately searching for an empty room somewhere in the castle. She had her books in her hands, and she was pulling her hair out of it's pony tail as she reached the last stair. She was about to push open a door when someone appeared out of no where. Vanessa recognized her as Pansy Parkinson, someone she had wanted to avoid all her years at Hogwarts. What good that did, she thought with anger.
"Well, uh, I was just looking for a place to study. Library is too crowded, common room too stuffy. And I wasn't planning on running into anyone who would do something awful to me...until just now. So, if you'll excuse me.." Vanessa answered, her brown eyes looking over Pansy's shoulder so she wouldn't have to make eye contact with the girl. It was a useful trick, one she used often for many occasions. And it proved useful again, because she didn't end up stuttering as she normally would when encountered by someone she did not like or did not like her.

Samantha was not very pleased by Pansy's behaviour. Why should they take things from people lower than them? It seemed to her a little childish and not what she had been expecting from a Queen. However she was not going to say anything about it as she did not want to anger Pansy and also the other three queens had made no comment. She would just concentrate on impressing them for now. She hid with the other three as was told to by Pansy and wondered who that girl was. She didn’t know her except of course she knew wasn't a pureblood, for Samantha knew every pureblood by face and name if not personally from the seventh year sown to the first.
Samantha got out of the place they were hiding in and stood behind Vanessa after Pansy said something to her. Her wand was again inside her robes, her hand holding it strongly and she was ready to attack at any minute. She exchanged a look with Pansy and then spoke, her voice low and somehow deadly, and the expression on her face was as usual non-existent, but that snake-like glint was back in her eyes and she was getting in the mood for more evil. "Wait… do you not think the company of Pansy to be a much more interesting activity then studying in the library? For you know, while I'm quite sure you will do you best to study some magic, it might not be very useful should you be in a certain awkward position, if you get my drift. Believe me, someone like you should always be on the lookout. I find it extremely surprising that you are wandering out of your common room on your own so unworriedly. Just because people like you have filled this school, you should not feel safe," she said, knowing her sudden appearance had probably startled Vanessa. She liked scaring people – the reason of course being that it made her feel she was stronger than them.
Samantha put one hand against the wall of the corridor she was in and made eye contact with Vanessa, continuing to speak as she did so and not giving the other girl a chance to say anything. Her wand was out in a flash and she pointed it at the girl's feet, and then she said "Flamarium dweratium!" and a small ring of fire formed around the girl's feet. Samantha looked at the girl and then used her wand to make the flames burn higher till they reached her waist, not touching her but still forming a circle around her so she could not move out of it. Then she said the incantation that produced water and the flames subsided, leaving a black ring where the carpet had been burnt. "How you can show your face in this place is a mystery to me. I have had more than enough of enduring people like you and the other scum in this school, as have all the Slytherins. Go back where you came from or believe me we will force you to," said her voice filled with disgust and contempt and her wand pointed at the girl's chest.

Vanessa gasped as someone spoke from behind her, she turned to face the other girl, and dropped her books and what the girl said. Anger crossed Vanessa's face but, she pushed that aside and stooped down to pick up her books. Fire encircled her and Vanessa immediately stood up, so she wouldn't get burnt. Her brown eyes locked with the other girl's as she continued to talk, only when she had finished did Vanessa speak up. But, she wasn't unaware of the wand that was pointed threateningly at her chest.
"I am where I belong. It's people like you who stand out. Do you actually think that you can scare everyone who isn't you away? Let me tell you something, Queeny, I'm not afraid. If you caught me a month ago though, I would be singing a different tune. People look at you, act afraid, and run off. But, what they are really thinking is 'poor them, they're home is getting taken over by someone they despise...I wonder if they will ever realize, people out there are so much better than them.' What an interesting concept isn't it? That you aren't the only people in this school who think someone here is worth nothing?" Vanessa was afraid, quaking in her boots even. But, she wasn't going to let them see her fear.
"If you think by saying some nasty things to me, and playing magic tricks is going to break what I believe then you have another thought coming. Harm me in anyway you want, but I'll let you in on one tiny secret, Queeny, no one is afraid...they just pity you." She whispered as she leaned towards the girl with the wand in front of her. As she talked, Vanessa took out her wand, gripping it tightly, she waited to see if she would have to use it. Not that she could, she probably didn't know any spells that could do any harm to the girls, she would probably get hit with 6 different spells anyway.

Pansy took a few steps away from the Hufflepuff and leaned against the wall and watched the spectacle take place. This one was certainly better than the last, at least this one would put up some sort of a fight. As the insults flew back and forth Pansy nodded in approval as Samantha surrounded the girl with a ring of fire. Things then got a bit more tense as the girl drew her wand out. Seeing this Pansy took out her own wand, she was not about to be hit by some wayward hex that would surely be soon flying. Pansy then eyed the girl's bag and she wondered what loot she'd be able to score from this one, surely this one had to have more valuable stuff than the last. ( wow that is so weak, sorry guys.. but I gorged myself tonight with a sumptuous banquet and I'm really tired now.. )

"Queeny? Oh my, what a most insulting name, I think I'm just going to run to my dormitory and cry myself to sleep," said Samantha in a squeaky high-pitched voice. She listened to the girl's words and felt a fury rise inside her, who was this girl to say that people pitied people like her. She had no idea what she was talking about! Samantha looked at Vanessa with that same piercing heartless look in her eyes she had looked at Ivy with and then replied. "Magic tricks, you wish mudblood. Let's just see what these magic tricks are going to do to you, shall we? Perhaps then we shall see who will we the object of pity," said Samantha, then quick as a flash she said an incantation.
"Mercedenius serpentrio!" she cried, and a small thin snake appeared from the tip of her wand with a hiss. It divided into two snakes which hissed and curled about increasing in length and moving towards Vanessa's neck, one going to the right and the other to the left, aiming to bite at the hair on each side of her face. Samantha did not like anybody talking back to her or daring to suggest that they were in any way better than her – she was going to make Vanessa pay back for what she had just dared to say to her.
((OK, she can dodge or get hit, that's up to you. Samantha will continue to try and hex Vanessa though if she dodges. Pansy, no worries.))

Vanessa just stared at the girl, had she called her a mudblood? Inside Vanessa was laughing. No, Vanessa wasn't a muggle born. She was indeed a half-blood. Not that, that mattered to this girl. As long as Vanessa didn't have a pureblooded background, she would never, in Slytherin's eyes, be considered worthy. She knew and understood this. She also respected it. Who are they to come and try to harm her as she is making her way on her own? Vanessa thought this over. She didn't want to get severly hurt, but then again she also didn't want to make this a big duel. As the snakes got ready to strike, Vanessa closed her eyes. Not knowing what to do. She didn't want to use magic, no. What an ugly thing that would be.
"I'd plug your ears," She merely whispered to the girls. And with a quick withdrawal of breath, Vanessa opened her mouth and sang the highest note she could. Vanessa was skilled in the area of singing. So her voice didn't waver. But, as she sang, higher and higher each moment. The snakes slowly backed down. It wasn't until they were totally off her did she stop and open her eyes. Still gripping her wand, Vanessa looked at the Slytherin in front of her. Waiting. If she hexed her, Vanesa couldn't use singing to get her out of it. She would have to go with magic.
((Hope that's fine, I didn't want magic yet...if you want, I have no problem in changing it ))

Samantha watched the girl with mounting amazement; she had not been expecting her reaction at all! Vanessa closed her eyes and then sang at the top of her lungs, and had Samantha not been holding her wand she would have surely put her hands to her ears to block out the hateful sound that had filled the corridor. The snakes recoiled away from Vanessa and Samantha cried “SILENCIO!” loudly the minute they did so but Vanessa had finished singing anyway. Had there been a window in the corridor its glass would have definitely shattered by now, the girl’s voice was powerful and Samantha had never heard anyone sing such a high note. Like everything else she had listened to opera before because she had been taken to parties or concerts with her parents, and while she really couldn’t appreciate opera singers or their singing she could tell Vanessa knew exactly what she was doing.
She decided to take her unawares, not giving her a minute to react after she casted the Silencing Charm, and snatched at her wand instead of casting a curse, thinking two could play at that game. Samantha pummelled and hit at Vanessa trying to grab her wand and scratched her hard in the process. All her worst in her was showing now, Ivy had not been able to provoke her enough, but Vanessa certainly had done so by surprising her. Samantha always thought she could be in control of any situation and when she didn’t get her way she could turn very nasty.
((I loved Vanessa’s reaction! Obviously Samantha did not. Anyway no need to change anything at all.))

( ) Vanessa opened her mouth to shriek in surprise, but of course the girl had cast a silencing charm on her. Vanessa fell to the ground, sharp pain surging through the places that the girl had hit her at. She gripped her wand tighter though, making sure she wouldn't let the Slytherin retrieve it. Without notice, Vanessa started to work in her dance moves. She twisted her feet up, and did a full circle. Trying to dance her way out of this. She felt her wand slip from her hands, and Vanessa immediately stopped dancing. Her brown eyes went from the Slytherin to her wand that was slowly rolling down the corridor. With a swift jump, she slid towards it, grabbed it swiftly and then collided into the wall. Her head cracked against the wall. She cringed and held her head, knowing that this was going to delay her run away from teh Slytherin girls. As she lifted her head to face them, she looked up...her wand still gripped tightly in her hand. Not that it did any good, she was silent. She couldn't speak. Vanessa looked up, saw that there was a tapestry behind her, she gripped it with her free hand and pulled, causing the tapestry to fall in front of her. Where the girls were standing. She quickly stood up, and scrambled to the end of the corridor. Her shoes making resounding echoes as she ran down the stairs. She didn't care about teh books she left behind, she just kept running and running. ((Sorry if I G-Moded a bit))
