Pomona walked a crossed the frozen grass toward Greenhouse number 4. The sun just started to rise over to hill in the distance Professor Sprout rubbed her arms to capture the warmth in her body. A cool breeze made Pomona’s cloak flap in the wind behind her. “Oh dear.” She said as she held her cloak tight around herself as she pulled the Greenhouse door open.
Walking into the humid room, she took off her cloak. Talking out her wand from her pocket she pointed it to the back vents. With a flick of her wrist the quickly opened and let fresh air filter through. Pointing her wand to the ceiling two fans started to spin simultaneously as they started to circulate the air. The winter air wouldnt fill the room, it was a comfortable temperature environment to be in.
Turning to her desk she let her wand down for a second as she put on her apron she always wore. It was brown in color with a yellow trim around the edges. Tying it around her waist she started to walk towards the large table in front of her, where the students sat. The table sat around 50 students. Small tables were pushed up against the walls, they were hardly ever used. Not expecting too many people she nodded as the one large table would be plenty of room. With a nod of her head she started to place instruments she was planning on using around the table for everyone’s use.
After she got the room already for everyone she went to the chalkboard in front of the room. With a wisp of her wand pictures and descriptions formed on the chalkboard about the plant they were using today, Neltivhert. (( nel-tiv-hurt))

Dana pulled her head between her shoulders and sprinted towards Greenhouse 4. The wind was rather chilling. She was early for class, but she hadn’t felt like going through the common room once again after breakfast.
She entered the Greenhouse and sighed happily, raising up straight again as the warmth in the Greenhouse engulfed her. “Good morning, professor Sprout,” Dana greeted the professor who was wearing an apron she always seemed to wear, as she noticed her in front of the blackboard.
Dana scanned the huge table for a moment and picked a seat that was about 6th from the black-board on the left side of the table, as she didn’t really want to sit right in front of the professor and eyed the black-board curiously to see what plant they would be learning today. Herbology wasn’t really Dana’s best subject, but she did fairly good in it.
Still Dana glanced at the Greenhouse door, waiting for someone else to came as well already.

Leaving the Great Hall from her breakfast, Jersey scuffled around, with her head down, full of disappointment, that the break was actually over. Opening the doors to the outside, Jersey made her way toward Greenhouse 4. Jersey had had absolutely no time to get herself, looking nicely, for she was afraid she would be late. Her hair was up in a half way neat pony tail, that seemed to hang swiftly in the wind.
Slowing down her pace toward the Greenhouse, she frowned. Jersey wasn't a big fan of Herbology, however, she didn't mind it. It wasn't exactly the way Jersey wanted to start out. Upon arriving, Jersey opened the door and felt a blast of warmth fill her body. Feeling rather uncomfortable from the quick switch from cold to warm, Jersey made her way, saying a rare good morning to Professor Sprout. She smiled at her and noticed she was only the 2nd person to arrive. She said hello to Dana as she passed her on her way around the greenhouse. Jersey then, ended up standing, impatiently tapping her foot, waiting for the rest of the class to show up, and for class to be over.

Katie yawned as she walked down the corridor to the great hall. It was early in the morning and she had to wake up to go to classes. First up was Herbology and Katie didn’t knew anything about plants so how would she know about magical plants. With another big yawn she opened the doors to the great hall and took a seat at the Gryffindor table. She eyed the food that was scatted all around the table. Wondering what to take first she wrapped her cloak more around her as she felt more chills go up her back. Taking some pumpkin juice and a two pieces of toast with jam and put it on the plate in front of her. She smiled and took a sip of the juice and then stuffed the one piece of toast in her mouth. She wasn’t in that much of a rush to get to Herbology she didn’t even know if Jordan would be there. Katie sighed as she remembered her sister and how they were in a fight. She didn’t won’t to fight with her but Jordan wouldn’t give her a chance. Taking in a deep breathe she finished off her pumpkin juice and the last toast and walked out of the great hall and out side to Green house number four.
The cold winter wind flew by her and she folded her arms around her to keep warm. She hated winter and didn’t know why it had to be so cold. Shivering she looked ahead of her wondering what the class was going to be like. Katie had been around plants but that was in the muggle world. She was also allergenic to some plants and didn’t know how she was going to get through the class. With another sigh she rubbed her hands together and entered the green house. As she walked inside she only saw some people but years older than her. Katie smiled at them and pulled her dark brown hair over her warbles and walked to the other side of the green house.
It was really different from anything Katie had ever seen before. There were plants every where and it was quite warm. Still rubbing her hands together she looked up at the board. "Neltivhert" She said to herself quietly a little confused on what the plant was. Katie had a confused look on her face and she turned around to find some one that she knew and might know what the plant was about. Maybe she had to wait until class started but she knew she wasn’t going to answer any question. Scanning the heads of people that were there she looked for her friends and waited for them to come. If they didn’t Katie would feel very lonely.

Cass fiddled with a gold necklace at her throat as she walked hastily to Herbology class. In her first year, she had hated Herbology. The general rule in Cass's academic life was that she liked anything hands-on and exciting. Herbology was hands-on, but it hadn't gotten exciting until her second year, when Professor Sprout had told her that Mandrakes' screams were fatal. These days she didn't mind Herbology too much, so long as the plants weren't completely inanimate. She didn't like the ones that Professor Sprout only showed them because they were useful in potions. Cass hated Potions class with all her heart; it didn't help that Professor Severus "Slave Driver" Snape, as she called him, persecuted Cass and her house every chance he could get.
Cass took a seat at the huge table that dominated the room. It was round, like King Arthur's table. Cass wondered if King Arthur's table had been this big. She groaned out loud as pages of notes appeared on the blackboard. This was not shaping up to be a fun class.

Judith got up early excited about classes starting that day. Seeing as she was up so early she went into the library and decided to read for a while first. She scanned the shelves trying to find something of interest. After about fifteen minutes she found a book on muggle psychology, anthropology, and sociology. Sitting down at the nearest table Judith began reading. About three chapters into the book she looked at the clock and realised that she had almost missed breakfast. Judith sprinted down to the Great Hall and grabbed an apple just as it started clearing out. Judith turned on her heels and walked out of the castle.
Judy walked out through the snow toward greenhouse four. She pulled her cloak tighter around her and shivered. She passed several people and slowed her pace; she wouldn’t be late after all. As Judith entered the greenhouse she was engulfed in the warmth of the room. The door closed behind her and Judith took off her cloak and walked up toward the front of the room. Spotting Dana Judith walked toward her. “Hey” she said when she reached her friend. Judith took a seat beside her and took a roll of parchment and quill out of her bag.

Jasmine sat at the Ravenclaw table early in the morning. She was so egger for classes to begin and she couldn’t wait until Herbology started. She than took a sip of her pumpkin juice and picked up a piece of toast and smothered it up in strawberry jam. Jasmine smiled and took a bite of her toast and opening up her Herbology book and started to read. She always loved to read the books before the class started so she would know some stuff about what might happen. Jasmine could feel butter flies fly around her stomach. She than took the last bite of her toast and took the last sips of her juice. Once she was finished she glanced up at the clock as it was almost time. Her eyes than became egger and she jumped up from the table put the book in her shoulder bag and walked outside to the Green house number three
As she walked with her feet crunching beneath the frozen grass. She let her mind wonder as she thought about many things. Mainly about horses, classes, books, friends, and boys. Yes boys owe how she hated Andrew Manning. Andrew was one of Jasmine best friends when she moved to Lena’s. They hung out together every day until one day he just left her for his own friends. He had told her that she was no longer cool enough to be with him and that broke her heart. Jasmine than filled with anger as she remembered that boy. He had kept coming over to the house asking Lena where she was. Lena always told him that she attending to a new boarding school.
Jasmine opened the doors to the Green house and saw some people there. She held her shoulder bag against her chest and looked around for her friends. Something than caught her eye as she walked up to the chalk board and looked at the word written across it. "Neltivhert... Neltivhert...... Neltivhert...." Jasmine said to herself and started to think of what the plant was. Nothing came to mind and she sighed and turned around to look for her friends once again. She than noticed Katie, Justin and Molly all talking. Jasmine smiled and walked over towards her friends. "Hello Justin, Katie." Jasmine greeted them with one of her welcoming smiles.

Post by Molly Weasley on Jan 11, 2005 3:06:11 GMT
Molly had been up since 5:00 in the morning. Something had awakened her and she couldn't get back to sleep for the rest of the night. Molly sat on her bed fully dressed with her little mirror in hand. She put her long, dark hair in a clip and lightly stepped around the room looking for her bag. She found it under her bed and now all she needed was her Herbology book. Again she looked under her bed and removed some clothes and found it lying underneath. Molly quickly stuck it in her bag and ran out of the Dormitry, into the Common Room, out the Portrait hole, and into the Great Hall where she sat down at the Gryffindor table. She grabbed some buttered toast and ate it thoughtfully. What was Herbology going to be like this year? Molly was not a big herbology fan, but she didn't mind it. she was more into Transfiguration and Care of Magical Creatures. Molly finished her toast and grabbed an apple. She went out the doors into the chilly air, taking a bite of her apple as she walked.
Once Molly got into the greenhouse she looked around seeing her friends Jasmine, and Justin. She made her way to the table where they sat adding a hurried hello to Professor Sprout as she passed. She sat down by Jasmine and looked up at the board to see what the new plant was that they would be learning about. Neltivhert? never heard of that one . . . thought Molly curoiusly. She put her bag on the floor by her feet and sat up to talk to Jasmine. "Jasmine, do you happen to know anything about the Neltivhert? Because i have certainly never heard of it before." said molly with another glance at the board.

Dana looked up as the Greenhouse door opened once again and smiled and greeted Jersey with a ‘hi’, as she entered. Then some guys Dana didn’t really know entered, although Dana figured, they were from Gryffindor, thanks to the badges on their robes.
“Oh, hi Judith,” Dana smiled as Judith came in and sat next to her, “I didn’t know if you had this class or not. At least I have a friend here today. Always a real plus to every class to have at least one friendly face in it as well.”
“I’m not really the best student in Herbology to tell you the truth,” Dana admitted with a small smile, before shaking her head and laughing softly, “And now I’m babbling. But I’m just happy to see a friend.”
A warm smile settled on Judith’s lips as Dana began speaking to her. Of course Judith didn’t mind too much not knowing anyone in class because it helped her concentration, but it was always better to have a friend or two. “Yes, Herbology has never been my best subject either but its ok. And don’t worry about babbling class hasn’t started yet and I’m glad to see a friendly face as well. Speaking of which; hey Jasmine.” She said turning to the girl who had just approached them. “Take a seat” Judy continued motioning to the chair beside her. “Excited to be back Jasmine?” Judith asked while taking the book on muggle psychology sociology and anthropology that she had gotten from the library out of her bag.

Dana looked up and grinned greeting Jasmine as well: “Hi, Jasmine.”
Dana shook her head with an ironic grin directed to herself: “I don’t believe I didn’t notice you coming in. Talk about bad concentration. Hope it’ll pass soon though.”
Dana grinned and glanced at the black-board once again: ”Are we supposed to know anything about Neltic… no, its uh…” Dana closed her eyes and pinched her nose for a moment to get the correct way to spell it: “Neltivhurt. Are we supposed to know anything about it already?”
Dana sighed and reaching into her bag brought out a little leather-bound note-book, she used to take notes in her classes.. She didn’t like writing on random slips of paper, as she always seemed to loose them, but her note-books always stayed at great-shape. Maybe because her grandfather had teached her respect to all books from a very young age and Dana used the same technique to manage her little note-books, guessing hte class would be starting soon.

Liliane opened the door of the castle with the little strength that she had possessed at the time of her sickness and walked slow and steady out the door. With her head down and away from the wind, she rubbed her hands together for warmth. She had not been able to find her gloves that morning, because she had woken up late and had had absolutely no time.
Liliane had been only a few feet away from Greenhouse 4, as she continually kept up the slow pace, showing that she did not care if she was late, as long as she made it there. She had felt achy all over and had practically sniffled every minute or so.
Liliane had been excited about Herbology, for she loved the outdoors and such, which made her even more willing to not miss the first day. Opening the door to the Greenhouse she felt a great deal of warmth, as she entered through the door. Noticing, that exactly nothing had changed over her past 2 years of this class. She smiled and made her way towards the kids who she had known. She forced herself to smile, and to say hello, even though Liliane had not wanted to be bothered too much when she was sick. "Hi guys!" she said trying to sound excited as she looked at her friends.

Pomona smiled as the last few people found their seats and waited for class to begin. “Quiet, Quiet!" she said as the last few people silenced. "Hello everyone, New Comers and Old ones, too! I am Professor Pomona Sprout, The Herbology teacher of Hogwarts School.” Clasping her hands together she walked in front of her desk and skimmed her eyes over the class.
“Alright, One question first- Why is Herbology a mandatory class? Meaning, what are the things that your learn for Herbology that you use in real life?.... Anyone?” she asked as she waited for hands to rise into the air.

Vanessa sat in the back, quiet and listening intently. Her eyes looked up as Professor Sprout told everyone to quiet down a bit and asked why Herbology was important. She looked up again, racking her brain for the answer. She knew this. Why couldn't she answer?
Vanessa looked down at the parchment in front of her, dipped her quill in the inkpot, and wrote down the question. Maybe if she saw it in writing she could answer. Then it came to her. She wasn't positive but, it was worth a shot. She raised her hand, waiting to be called on.

Elizabeth woke up to the sounds of doors being slammed and people talking. Elizabeth sat up in her bed and looked around. Everywhere people were leaving. "Hey! what's going on!!?" asked Elizabeth nervously. She then remembered that she had Herbology that day. "Oh No! how come no one woke me up!!? Why didn't Katie wake me up!!!?" said Elizabeth looking around for Katie, but she saw that she wasn't there.
Elizabeth hurridley got out of bed and grabbed some clothes and her black robes lying in her trunk. After she had put these on she put on her Gryffindor badge and grabbed her Gryffindor Pride scarf that was hanging on the door knob. She then ran to check the time. "Oh good, I won't be late." Elizabeth slowed down and began to gently stroke her hair with her brush. She brushed it until it was all sleek and shiny and all the knots were out. She then tied her hair into a tight bun, which was something that she did not often do and looked in the mirror. She looked dignified and sofisticated instead of looking like a child she looked like a younger version of Proffesor McGonagal. Elizabeth giggled and let a string of hair down over her face. She backed away from the mirror remembering that she still needed her school bag. She found it lying neatly in her trunk. She took it out and saw that her Herbology book was already in her bag. Now all Elizabeth needed was her journal, she skipped over to her bed and retrieved it from under her pillow and tucked it safley away in her bag.
Elizabeth went out of the Dormitry and down the Spiral staircase. She then found herself in the Common Room and ran out. When she finally arrived in the Great Hall she looked around to see if people were still eating. there were a few so she sat down and enjoyed a blueberry muffin. with one last bite she took a drink of Pumpkin juice and set off towards her destination of Greenhouse 4. as soon as she walked outside she felt the cold, harsh wind blowing in her face and coldness engulfed her. She wrapped her robes tighter around her and held onto her scarf so it would not blow away. It seemed like an eternity before she finally reahed the entrance to the Greenhouse.
Elizabeth looked around and saw that class had already begun. "Hello Professor Sprout, How are you today? sorry I'm late." Elizabeth said as she took her seat next to her best friend, Katie Davenport. Elizabeth looked up at the board and saw something that caught her eye. "What's a Nel - tiv - hurt?" she asked Katie, trying to souund it out. Elizabeth acually enjoyed herbology because she used to care for the little garden that she had in her backyard at her mum's house. "Hi Liliane, Justin, Molly." She nodded her head at the three as she adressed them. "Sorry I didn't say hi before." Elizabeth apoligized to them and turned towards Professor Sprout to listen to the question. Elizabeth raised her hand eagerly waiting for Professor Sprout to call on her. She knew that the answer was because plants could help heal sickness and could be used in potions, magic and other such things. Gardening in the muggle world helped her understand the importance of plants.

Jasmine looked at her friends that came in and wondered if she should hang out with her own Ravenclaws. Taking a deep sigh she got up from her seat and mouthed the words sorry to Molly and walked over towards Danna and Judith. As she had approach then she smiled and they greeted her. "Hey guys wont to hang for class and I don’t know what the plant is about maybe Jaquin would know but he isn’t here yet." Jasmine said smiling and looking around the green house for some one else she knew. She glanced around and saw Vanessa Link sitting alone and looking at a piece of parchment that lay in front of her. Jasmine smiled and turned towards the people who she had just been talking to. "Umm do you mind if I sit with Vanessa you two can join as well?" Jasmine said hoping that the girls will say yes.
As the Professor spoke she sat down next to Vanessa and smiled up at her best friend. She than didn’t say anything not wonting to get into trouble. Jasmine couldn’t stop smiling and her hand went up into the air as the Professor asked about what Herbology was about. Well Jasmine knew the answers and reading Herbology books everyday got to her. Many plants were used for many things. Jasmine ran her answer through her mind hoping not to add to much detail to the answer. She than turned towards Vanessa as she wonted to answer the question as well. Jasmine smiled and crossed her legs and looked up at the Professor and waited for who she will call on.

Post by Mary Evans on Jan 12, 2005 2:02:09 GMT
Mary woke up to the screaming of her alarm clock. She leant over to press the snooze button again when she saw she only had fifteen minutes before class. Mary quickly jumped out of bed but sat down right away to keep from falling over with grogginess. She threw on her uniform and brushed her hair as quickly as possible. Looking at the clock again Mary saw that she could make it if she skipped breakfast. She then walked as quickly as she could out the deserted room. She noticed some fellow Slytherin’s still in the common room as she passed obviously not caring if they were late. Disregarding them Mary continued her speed walk up the stairs toward the entrance hall.
Mary pulled her dark green cloak on as she walked out the front doors. She trudged through the snow toward greenhouse three for a bit before she saw the worn path to greenhouse four. Mary quickly walked over to the path and slipped into the greenhouse. “Hey” she said taking seat next to her friend Jersey just before Madam Sprout began class and asked a question. Mary knew the answer but did not feel like answering so she left her arm stationary on the table in front of her.

"Sure, no problem," Dana answered Jasmine when she asked if htey would mind, when she joined Vanessa. dana had barely ended her sentence when professor Sprout asked her question.
Dana let her head fall back so she was able to loo out through teh glass ceiling while she pondered about the question. She guessed Herbology was mandatory for the same reason as why muggle grew healing-herbs. Seeing as lot of people already raised their hands, Dana didn't bother to raise hers though.
