Arya awoke that morning with an urge to not spend the day in the castle with the likes of some of the other wizards and witches that adoned the place. She had enough trouble tolerating them through classes, and meals. She didn't thinks she could spend one more moment in the presence of someone of their type.
Pulling herself out of bed, Arya changed into her everyday wear. She had many types of clothes, and made sure not to wear one outfit that was meant for a specific occassion during another. Arya had chosen her favorite day wear outfit, which consisted of a simple pair of stone washed denim jeans, and a beautiful Shammrock green tank top with matching sweater. Arya added the Slytherin crest pin that her father had bought her to wear, and her favorite black heels. Arya looked in her mirror, and after fixing her hair and applying what little make up she needed, decided that she was ready to leave the castle.
Arya made her way through the halls as swiftly as she could, for the less encounters with the disgraces the better she felt. Once outside, Arya took a deep breath of air. The scent of fresh clean air relaxed her, if there was any mud blood stinch to it, she had yet to notice. Arya looked around and noticed that there were some students seemingly everywhere. She decided to wander around the lake, for she had nothing better to do.

It was a nice day for it being winter. There was little to no snow covering the ground, and Kennedy was dressed in only a pair of black pants and a gray sweater. Pushing his sleeves up, he was glad that he had decided to leave his jacket inside. The sun was casting down rays of light that caused him to squint every now and then. He bent over and picked up a small, flat stone that was lying next to the lake's edge. Tossing it sideways, he attempted to skip it across the water. After a few hops, it sunk below the surface, disappearing into the cold, dark water. He put his hands in his pockets and looked out over the lake. An odd sense of randomness entered his mind and, for a moment, he pondered the possibility of jumping in. Dismissing the idea, he knew it was rather stupid and the lake was most likely freezing cold. Still, the thought intrigued him in a way.
As he found a dry patch of grass, he sat down, leaning backward on his hands. The ground was cool, but not too cold. Letting out a small yawn, Kennedy leaned back and placed his hands behind his head. Looking up at the sky, he blinked a few times as his eyes adjusted to the bright sunlight. There were few clouds in the sky, as its clear blue color shown brightly. It was such a beautiful day that it almost made him feel happy inside... almost. For just a second, he closed his eyes and let his mind wander. He thought of many things, but mostly places- places he would rather be than at this school. Slowly he began to drift in and out of consciousness.
Bolting upright, Kennedy looked around and wondered how long he had been sleeping. Deciding it hadn't been more than ten minutes, he relaxed a little and leaned forward on his hands. Suppressing another yawn, he drew his hand to his mouth and let out a giant sigh. For now, he was glad he was alone, pleased that, for a moment, he was able to escape.

Arya had made her way almost completely around the lake, when she noticed someone laying on the ground. Arya almost didn't care if the person was hurt or not, but knew that if she didn't check, and someone else saw her out there near them, that it would surely be said that if something was wrong, that it was her fault. Arya could usually talk her way out of trouble, but she knew that attacking another student was not something one could easily escape from. So, as Arya continued her stroll, she worked her way over to the person
Coming closer with every step, the person she had noticed just moments ago, seemed to take better recognizable form. She was now able to tell that it was Kennedy Valak, a fourth year from her house. She had never formally introduced herself to him, but knew him from passing in the Common Room, and having classes together. Walking over to him, now that she was close enough, she did wonder if something was wrong, for he just seemed to be laying there. Surely someone would have better sense than to attack a Slytherin She thought to herself. "Kennedy, Are you well, have you been attacked?" Arya asked in her normal monotonal voice. She didn't like to appear concerned, it was a sign that you were weak, and Arya was far beyond weak.

"Attacked?" Kennedy asked, confused. He looked at himself and then at the girl who he recognized as a fellow Slytherin. He didn't think he had been attacked, of course he had been out of it for quite a while. Surely though, nobody had sneaked up on him and attacked him in his sleep. Assuring Ayra that he was fine, Kennedy stood up as not to be impolite. He was always taught to show manners. "As you already know my name, I'm sure you know a little about me then," he said, almost in a questioning manner. "Your name is Ayra?" he asked, to ensure that the girl was who he thought she was. He wasn't necessarily in the mood for conversation, but Ayra didn't seem like the type to babble on endlessly about minuscule matters. It was somewhat awkward, as the two had never really conversed before. Avoiding in depth interaction, Kennedy simply peered at the horizon, watching the sun sink ever so slightly behind the water's edge. At least he had managed to escape momentarily, and that put a smile on his face that lasted on a second. Again, maintaining his manners, he turned back to Ayra and waited politely for her answer.

Arya watched as the boy she had recognized only from classes and passing in the common room stood. She did not smile, nor make any unusual facial expressions, she didn't feel that there was a need to. She began to ponder through her memories to see if she could remember a moment that the two had ever spoken to each other, just to realize that this was the first. She decided that since she did not feel much like trying to struggle through another conversation which was surely just to lead to someone getting upset as always, that she would express her opinions and be on her way.
“Yes, I am Arya, and I must regrettably admit that I only remembered your name from the classes we have had together. I try to make it a point to remember any Slytherin whom I have momentarily met, or have a class with. It makes the first meeting so much easier on both parties when they have knowledge of the others name.” Arya was making sure not to babble on about some stupid thing like she had done before in the common room, with another Slytherin. She still had yet to figure out what had caused her nervousness around him, when there wasn’t any sign of it with Kennedy.
