Rose. It was a symbol. For secrecy in medieval time and connected with love nowadays. But for Dare it was a simple flower that could bring out a pretty smile and that was plenty. Dare grinned as he walked in the Greenhouse slowly letting his eyes wander until he would see some bloom that would call out to him as being correctly right. He wasn’t even sure what exactly he was looking for. He didn’t know the colour he wanted, whether he wanted a bud or a fully blooming flower, whether he wanted a big or small, smelling or not, long or short flower. He would just go to the flower that would seemingly call out to him. That what would give the flower some value. And Dare didn’t have to look far. A yellow bud with darker petal tips. It seemed perfect for today so Dare climbed over. Getting to the rose was a bit tricky and Dare scratched his skin lightly on some rose-thorn but he emerged victorious from the rosebush some moments later. Blowing a little at the flower Dare turned it in his hand and giving a satisfied nod. It didn’t have perfectly shaped petals and someone more familiar with flowers might even find something wrong with it, but it looked good to Dare’s eyes.
Who to give it too wasn’t a hard problem either. Classes, upcoming OWLs and whatever other reasons Dare might not even be able to list right now all had piled up. He had barely had time to laugh along with Cathy properly even though they waved at each other between classes and sometimes managed to change a few words too. Dare hadn’t seen her in the Great Hall during dinner today either. Slipping out of the Greenhouse Dare took care to close the door securely behind him. It would be a shame if some cold gusts of wind got in and destroyed the tender flowers. Dare would hate to be such the reason for such kind of destruction. Holding the rose close to him Dare jogged over the grounds to the Quidditch pitch. He was rather partial to Quidditch and he didn’t have a personal broom, but he could borrow one of the schools brooms. They weren’t the best but they would fulfill Dare’s purpose. Luckily the doors weren’t locked so Dare chose a nice sturdy Cleansweep and mounted it.
Pushing off Dare soared through the air towards the Hogwarts castle once again locating the Gryffindor tower without any trouble. He knew where his dormitory windows were so Dare flew there first and then following logic flew around the Tower. He was pleased to discover that the Gryffindor 5th year girls dormitory was exactly on the other side of the Tower and by the looks of it Cathy might be in there. Stopping the broom Dare placed the rose between his teeth for a moment as he needed his hands for other matters. Knocking sharply on the window with his left hand to let Cathy knew he was there Dare used his right arm to hold the broom he was sitting on steady while he waited for Cathy to notice him.

Dinner didn't seem thoroughly exciting tonight. Cathy watched as the common room emptied, everyone going toward their food with watering mouths. Cathy didn't feel much like joining in - she just wasn't hungry. Anyway, she was gaining way too much weight this year. Going back to ballet would be torture this summer. Sighing trudged up the stairs to her dorm. The silence didn't disturb her a bit; in fact it gave her peace of mind. Flopping down on her bed, Cathy rubbed her stomach. Okay, so maybe she was a little hungry... To keep herself busy, Cathy took out her homework. She had to get it done sometime anyway. Flipping over to lay on her stomach, Cathy gathered all her things. Ink bottle, quill, parchment, and of course the heavy textbook. Charms. Putting down everything, she carefully uncorked the ink and set to work.
She must have been in there for an hour. Noise was picking up in the common room, meaning dinner was over. Cathy concentrated on her work as best she could. An occasional spasm of laughter distracted her every so often, but it wasn't awful. Of course, the essay wasn't even close to being done; she had much more to go. Pondering over what she could write next in her explanation, Cathy heard a knock of the door. Wrinkling her brow, she corked her ink and jumped off the bed. When she opened the door, however, no one was behind it. Odd. Someone was probably playing a joke. Cathy shrugged, close the door, turned, and... nearly had a heart attack. Someone was outside the window, on a broom. When she recovered from the shock, Cathy realized who it was. Somehow, she wasn't as surprised.
"Darien Fletcher," Cathy shook her head as she unlatched the window. "Amazing. Truly amazing. You really have no limits, do you?" Despite her words, she wore a large grin. A rose was in between Dare's teeth, not exactly the best place for hygiene purposes, but she saw that he had no choice. What with rapping on the window and steering the broom, Dare had run out of hands. Shaking her head again with pony-tail wagging, she said, "Well? Do you plan on coming in or do you prefer sitting on that broom?" Maybe letting him in wasn't the best idea, but hey, no one else was in here except for Cathy. It would be fine. Not a big deal. She grinned, still amused and rather flattered: He had done all of this just for her?

Dare moved a little on the broom making his means of transportation wobble precariously making Dare settle down without trying to find a more comfortable position to sit in. He would just have to live with it. Dare glanced towards the window behind which he was floating and would have chuckled if the rose between his lips wouldn’t have stopped it. Cathy must have thought someone was knocking on the door. Dare would have warned her about not being frightened about someone behind her window but he didn’t really have any means to do so. Seeing that Cathy had noticed him Dare took hold of the rose once again and smiled at Cathy as she opened the window.
“Evening, precious,” Dare held out the rose for Cathy to take while he smiled widely at the girl, “I didn’t see you at dinner. And please, precious. It’s just simple Dare. Nothing more, however much I adore the sound of your face and the way how your mind works and lips move to share your wisdom.” Cathy invited him in so Dare maneuvered the Cleansweep in from the window almost hitting his head on the window-frame. Placing the broom next to himself Dare seated himself on the window-frame and smiled at Cathy before looking around the room with real interest. Not that the girl’s dormitory was much different than the boy’s was. Just had more beautifying products and clothes here and it smelled of some flowery perfume.
“Limits? Of course I have my limits, precious. But how could I let something interfere with the joy of seeing you again, precious. I have missed talking to you properly and I don’t even dare to step deeper into this sanctuary of beauties. Aren’t you hungry, precious? You are all skin and bone. You should eat to make sure there will be something to hold onto for the boy who you grace with allowing him accompany you on a date to Hogsmeade.” Dare grinned swinging his feet almost childishly as he turned a litlte glancing over his shoudlers outside, "Or perhaps I should invite you for a little flight outside. Do you even know all the adventures that await you beyond your window?"

She shook her head, amused at how he continued to act. It amazed her every time he saw her; must he flirt with everyone? Cathy remembered their first meeting quite well. She had been reluctant to have anything to do with him and kept on trying to attack him, while Dare dodged quite well and managed to pull out on top anyway. She was still a tad uncomfortable around him, but she had come to realize he did this to everyone, not just her. So she had nothing to worry. I mean, who wanted a stalker, even if he was a romantic? She grinned at him, rather happy now that he was here. Though he did go too far to impress, she had to admit she had grown accustomed to his ways. Well - until now. She vaguely remembered Dare saying something about going through everything just to get to her. Coming through the window seemed a bit extreme, but she was happy he was here. Saved from another boring evening. "I have to be all skin and bone," Cathy said quickly, defending herself. "I'm a ballet dancer, have I not told you? We have to be skinny to get on our tip-toes and twirl as we do. Plus, when we do stunts such as jumping into someone elses arms, we must be light enough for them to hold us. How embarrassing would it be to drop because you're too heavy in front of a crowd?" She thought she had quite made her point. But as he asked her to go into Hogsmeade or perhaps take a ride with him on his broom - she shot a look at her unfinished homework. "Um..." C'mon Cathy, she told herself. What else do you have to do? She walked over to him and took the rose carefully. "Thank you. It's beautiful." She lifted it to her nose and took a sniff of the wonderful aroma roses seemed to have. "I will find a vase for it and keep it close to my bedside," she said. It seemed fitting. "As for the broom ride - I'm not sure..." she leaned against the sill, peering down. "I don't do too well with heights. But I am a tad hungry, so maybe Hogsmeade is a better option? As long as we can get down there quick... I mean, we'd have to get back before curfew." Cathy could have listed a few more worries, but she held them back with a wistful click of her tongue. "What do you want to do?" She asked Dare with a lift of her eyebrow. ((I'm so sorry I haven't replied sooner! I've been having some trouble school-wise and it resulted with the computer. Again I'm really sorry. I'll try to reply on a timely basis next time. ))

“Precious, if ballet dancers have to be all skin and bone to be fantastic, then you must be the very best. I’d rather be worried about the fact that a gust of wind may carry you away and take you dancing between the stars and on sunrays. And while it might be a bit uncomfortable to be dropped you just might rather start a new trend. And soon everyone would jump into each others arms only to fall back in greeting and your name would be known world-wide with paparazzo’s following you everywhere,” Dare smiled beamingly at Cathy as he glanced around the girls dormitory once again. It didn’t look overly special but somehow there was something almost forbidden in this haven for girls for a boy. Even to Dare who enjoyed the company of girls with all of heart but even he felt a little bit edgy here. Nothing that couldn’t be overcome as he was sure though. Dare glanced the shot Cathy sent to the side and noticed open books and quills and paper. All the things you needed to do homework. Dare nodded and wondered over to the bed seating himself gently on it’s edge as he smiled widely at Cathy: “Don’t look so worried, precious. I’m not going to kidnap you. Homework to do? Anything I could help you with before you might accompany me for a lifelong stroll under the shining sun? We could enjoy the sights as they come to us. Or decide by the menus as to where we wish to eat.” Dare smiled a bit sadder as Cathy admitted not liking heights. He should have thought a little bit before showing up with a broom. Now she made Cathy hesitate and feel awkward perhaps while this had not been his aim at all. His aim had been far from it. “There’s a whole wide world beyond your window waiting to be discovered. But we don’t have to go flying. I’m not that good of a flyer to risk you feeling any discomfort while with me. I can leave too if you wish, I just hadn’t seen you for quite a while. And I still haven’t thanked you properly for that skating lesson you gave me,” dare smiled happily again as Cathy approved the rose. He bowed his head and spread his arms widely, “Thank you, precious, I’m glad you find it worthwhile. You honour me. As to what I’d want to do? I’d like to bring a smile to those pretty lips of yours.” ((Don’t worry at all about it. It wasn’t that long of a wait and it happens sometimes to all of us. ))
