It was a mucky day. The skies were a dark gray color and the grounds were full of mud and dirt. The air was cold as Hogwarts was still in the mist of winter. It had a sort of haze to it yet it wasn't at all a fog. It was just a certain thing about the air that seemed like it would never go away. The winds flew at a medium rate against everything in its path. It created iry sounds that screeched through the area. Old water droplets dripped off the trees as it had rained the previous night. Yet, no droplets fell yet breaking the silence of the day. No, there was still promise of rain but it felt distant, but it was so close. It was like the world was at a stand still. The birds lingered at their current areas, the ducks just gave a few look quacks, the fishes made their constant noises, but they didn't seem to stop. They were not loud, just ever lasting and constant. However, that feeling seemed to go away with one strong gust of wind hurling over the grounds. The castle seemed to be cold, as impossible as it may be. The earth seemed still for once and for a moment everything seemed perfect even though the grounds were not desirable for first years to play in. No, this was a different kind of perfect. It was a perfect that had flaws, but was better than the normal world.
Maryn decided to brave the weather most others didn't dream of. She didn't understand why they felt that way. True, it might not be ideal for snow angels or bare foot running, but it felt cozy even though it was cold. Maryn always thought about the world so different. Sometimes, she felt as if she was the only person who thought a certain way. She was probably right about that. Maybe people would never see things her way, but perhaps they should. Maybe if they looked through life in Maryn's eyes, they would be free of all worries and guilt. This would surely change people, but Maryn knew it would never happen. She took was large step through the mud that seemed untouched by human feet. It looked unwanted in a way, and it was. Maryn smiled feeling the mud clinch to the rain boots she had on. True they were unconventional boots as all of Maryn's clothing was. She wore her pink polka dot boots, her favorite worn in jeans, her yellow turtle neck, hot pink pea coat, lime green button earrings, and the lime green cute ski cap that clung to her head. Sure, this outfit would be too crazy for some, but Maryn loved it and it suited her perfectly.
She tracked through the never ending pile of mud. Her boots left deep marks behind her in the thick mud. They now had a layer of muck on the bottoms, but that didn't bother Maryn too much. She hated that the weather had kept most people outside when it was just so much better to have fun even though things weren't perfect. Maybe people should see that life wasn't perfect, but Maryn hoped they already knew that. Maryn smiled a brief smile before her loose hair blew in her face. She moved it with once swift movement to the back of her head where it braced her back with her hate covering the top. She had to look comical with all of this, but Maryn didn't care too much. She moved towards the Quidditch. No one was there of course. Not even the teams were practicing. She smiled at the uninhabited territory. Maryn then walked over to the area where the Gyrffindors usually stood. She walked up the steps and took a seat in hr usual spot. Maryn looked out over the stands smiling softly not really feeling any worries at all. She barely heard as someone came behind her.

Waking up to being to hot was new to Brook, but that's what happened. She was burning hot, probably had a fever or something she concluded Oh well, she thought, I might as well do something other than sit in this room all day. She got up and went to the shower. Locking the door behind her she took a shower and then started to apply her make-up. "Hmm," she said aloud, "What color should I use for eyeliner today?" finishing the thought she decided she would go black today, just to match her ill mood. Seeing as she had black eye liner she might as well have mascara, and eye shadow in black too. Decided against black gloss she applied some clear, but shiny gloss, which felt quite good on her burning hot lips. Wondering what she should wear she wrapped her towel tighter around her and went back to her room after unlocking her bathroom door.
Getting back into the room she got dressed. She ended up wearing a pair of really dark blue jeans and a tight black shirt; with, ofcourse, a black hoodie. She pulled her hair up and grabbed a pair of black etnies. She grabbed her bag and walked down stairs. As she walked she turned her bag black too. "Why not go all out?" she had muttered figuring it wouldn't matter what color it was no matter what anyway. She walked down the halls into the Great Hall, grabbing a quick bite to eat she walked outside figuring no one would be out there since it was such a rainy type of clouded day. She went towards the lake to see if there really was no one there. Unfortunately people were every where, it was just like one or two peopole though.
Figuring ther couldn't be anyone out towards the Quidditch pitch. Since she had sort-of bad eyesight she hadn't noticed the girl up in the stands until she was already trying to get through all the seats, and through the Gryffindor part, and into the ravenclaw part. "Ahh!" she muttered as she slipped and fell on a piece of ice. Getting th her feet she moved her eyes around, and that was when she noticed the girl. 'Mam,' she thought,' I so was hoping no one would be up here, especially a really cheerful person like Maryn Lively. Deciding it didn't matter she went and sat down at the row in front of Maryn, hoping she wasn't being rude, but then again not really caring.

Maryn's gaze left the silent pitch as she heard a noise and turned her head instantly. Someone had fallen on some ice and Maryn looked at the girl oddly. She didn't think anyone was going to come out. Actually, Maryn was looking forward to having some alone time to gather her thoughts, but company didn't seem like such a bad idea. Maryn's eyes met those of the girl. It was Brook, a fellow third year. She smiled nicely not wanting to look rude in any way. She just wasn't in a happy go lucky mood. Maryn just wanted to be calm for once. She didn't want that usual wall of cheerfulness to go up once again. No, that was becoming tiering. For once, Maryn wanted the inner her to show. Maybe it would just be for a second, but that didn't matter. A second would make Maryn feel better none the less. She gazed at the sky again. The promise of rain lingered in the air and she sighed knowing it would be a bit longer before any drops would fall. Usually, Maryn would love the thought of rain covering her entire body, but she had dressed up too much. Maybe a bit too much just to go outside. Of course, Maryn loved her close, but she kept feeling the need for a sutler look and Maryn knew she would probably go through with that too. Maryn reached up to her ski cap and pulled to down further now covering her ears. Maryn sighed looking back at Brook bringing forth the words to her tongue.
"Hey, Brook." She said sounding nice, calm, and normal. She smiled to herself thinking this would be easy, but secretly knowing nothing in life was easy. Her eyes trace the girl Maryn noticed hr clothes. She had never seen Brook in that much black. She gave a quizzical look thinking to herself, but not saying a word. "So, what's up? What bring you out here when it seems no one else is brave enough to come out here" She aid as her eyes fell upon the gaze of the grounds. It was a beautiful day in Maryn's eyes. It gave the world a brighter feeling and made Maryn feel warm and calm. However, not many people seemed to agree with this. She looked at Brook and then into the center of the pitch. "I've always wanted to play." She said quietly more to herself, but it was still heard and sounded as towards Brook. "But, I guess I haven't been brave enough or thought I could do it?" She slight smile dropped as the words were let out. "Then why am I in Ravenclaw?" She said again quietly. The internal Maryn question was once again asked. True, Maryn asked it, but she could never find an answer to it. Maryn never thought of herself as strong in any way. She always thought she was weak. Then why had she been placed in Gryffindor? Maryn's head had ached from asking itself that very question. Maryn looked at Brook softly with an emotionless look in her eyes. She stared at hr waiting for a response of some kind.

"Hi." Brook muttered to Maryn, wishing she weren't there. TRying her best to be nice to Maryn, who had done nothing wrong she said "This is my favorite kind of weather. It's not to hot, and it's not to cold." seeing Maryn notice her clothes she waited for Maryn to ask some question, but ti didn't come instead she started talking about wanting to play Quidditch. " Well." said Brook " I have never really wanted to play. I don't see a reason because with the certain amount of hate that some people have for me I would never make it." the last part began to sound bitter so she muttered sorry and rolled up the sleeves of her hoodie, and pulled her hair down to cover her ears, the only part of her that was ever really cold when she went outside. Pulling up her bag Brook grabbed a bottle of water, after heating it up with her wand Brook remembered that Maryn was still there. "Want one?" she asked after making sure she had another in her bag. Waiting for her answer Brook rolled her sleeves back down after feeling a big gush of freezing cold wind come and blow over her arms. Standing up Brook moved backward into the seat beside Maryn so that they wouldn't have to shout to eachother for the other to hear. ((sorry so short: my fingers are starting to hurt! ))

Maryn gave a confused look for a second. She then shifted her eyes towards the middle of the pitch again. "I just love the way flying makes me feel." She breathed letting the words out. "It's like for a moment nothing can touch me and life is sweet. When I fly, problems seem to melt away into nothingness." She said not really listening to herself. Maryn just sat there looking at the center of the pitch in deep thought. Life was so complicated and life would be so much easier without complication. Of course, that could never happen. A life without worries and things of the sort, didn't really seem like a life. Maryn pulled her jacket closer as a short hard gust reached her neck. She fidget for a second and then settled down a bit looking over at Brook. Thoughts poured into Maryn's head. None of them really meant anything and were hard to describe, but they just clouded her mind. Maryn sat in a daze for a moment and then blinked a few times letting them pass. She smiled feeling lifted from unwanted troubles. Maryn let out a few deep breaths.
She then thought back to what Brook had just said. "Since when do people hate you?" Maryn let out looking at her. "I've never heard that and I don't hate you." She said thinking a bit. "Is it just Slytherins because they seem to hate everyone." Maryn said knowing it was true. She wished it wasn't, but she couldn't change reality. Maryn hated people hurting her friends or even people she only knew a bit. She hated people thinking they were better than other people. Maryn often had the strong urge to do something about it and she always did. That was a part of her she just couldn't let go. Maryn was determined to fight every battle no matter what. She nodded her head listening to Brook's question. "Yes, please." She said feeling a dry feeling in her throat. "Well, I just wish I could play." She said again referring to Quidditch. Maryn didn't really listen to the words she had said. She just said waiting for Brook to reply.
(Sorry it took so long.)

Handing Maryn a heated water Brook wondered how she should reply. She ended up saying "Well I truthfully don't know but at some point less and less people started talking to me. It's like they are trying to hide something from me." Leaning back in her chair Brook took another gulp of water, sighing as it went down her throat. Hoping that someday she could be as successful as others in having millions of friends. No one had seemed to like her for who she was, they just said hi in the hallways and then they would quickly wander off in a different direction. REwinding in her mind Brook recollected when Maryn had been talking about flying. Brook felt that way to and she loved most that it made her feel like she was running away from her troubls and leaving them far behind, never looking back and she would just keep flying until she was forced to stop.
Trying to help Maryn with the conversation efforts she said "So, why aren't you on the quidittch team?" Brook said hoping that Maryn wasn't on the team because Brook didn't know, she never even watched half of the matches, she would just find out later by hearing play by plays all around the school. To half the people here it seemed that Quidittch was the only important thing and Brook certainly didn't agree. The only place in her life that involved quidittch was when she was at home and she could fly around her house, leave everything behind her and not have to come back until it is time for dinner. Glancing over at Maryn she brought her self back to the present time by shaking her head and flinging water off mumbling sorry to Maryn if by accident she had gotten her wet.

Maryn shook her head sadly. She didn't want to believe Brook. Maryn thought she had loads of friends just like Maryn herself, but it didn't seem that way at all. Maybe Brook was over reacting? However, Maryn doubted it. Maryn thought of Brook as a nice person. Why people didn't seem to like her was out of Maryn's mind grasp. She hated when people were cruel or just a bit mean. Maryn usually was a nice person, but when someone hurt her friends, the happiness stopped. No one could ever do that. Maryn was so protective of them all. They helped her through very hard times. People hurting them just didn't make any sense to her. They were all so nice, hurting them either physically or emotionally was like hurting a kitten. It just wasn't nice. They were all very kind and knew just how to help Maryn in times of need. Maryn stared blankly at the Quidditch pitch. She recalled the time she wanted to hurt the everlasting lights out of Monica for chasing Rosaliz. It just wasn't right for her to hurt an innocent Gryffindor. After all, Rosaliz was such a sweet person. Maryn looked up at the dreary sky recollecting her thoughts.
Maryn shrugged at Brook's comment. She didn't really have an answer, actually. Maryn liked Quidditch, but could she really play it? She didn't think she would be good for the team. Besides, what it she let them down? That was all too much to think about. Maryn didn't ever want to hurt her team and friends. She looked at Brook calmly. "I don't really know. I would hate to disappoint the team. I know I would mess up." Maryn looked somber for a moment and then brought a small smile to the surface of her mouth. "Maybe I will next year. I'll have to think about it." She said calmly. Maryn thought for a moment. "You know, you could get more friends if you joined. I still don't understand why people don't like you." She said very quietly. Maryn looked at Brook waiting for an answer.

Trying to let the hoodie swallow her up in warmth she wondered if what Maryn said was true. Letting it sink in she said "I definately wouldn't be to good at any of that! The only thing I could do at the moment is be one of the beaters, and that wouuld be because I would be taking all my anger out on the bludger, whacking it with the bat." laughing at her honesty she pushed hard at the chair in front of her with her feet trying to push herself deep into her own chair, and warn up. Happy that she had chosen to wear black for the fact that it was the color that absorbed the most sun and heat. Hoping thzt the sun would actually come out soon she put her hands in her jacket pocket and said more to herself than to Maryn "When did it get so cold? I am shivering in my jacket if you can't tell." Wonddering what time it was Brook started to get hungry, using her wand she muttered an incantation making to peices of toast apear. Offering one to Maaryn she swallowed a bite as big as the palm of her hand feeling her hunger subcide some. Wondering if Maryn was going to accept she swallowed some of her water, loving the feeling of the heat in her throat.
ooc: Sorry it's so short, I couldn't find anything good to write about.

Maryn laughed at Brook's comment. True, Quidditch probably wasn't Brook's thing. Everyone had their special talents. Maryn just happened to love flying. It soothed her and made her more happy than usual. It was just one of those things that called her. Maryn would never get bored of it and she knew flying would never get bored of her. Maryn looked at Brook calmly. "You just have to find something you like to do that you can make friends with." She explained. "When I was younger, I was the little shy girl. Now, my friends can't shut me up and I hang out with them all the time." Maryn looked at the Quidditch Pitch for a moment and then back at Brook. She smiled a bit lightening the mood. She didn't want all her friend talk to depress Brook or something like that. That was absolute last thing Maryn wanted. She nodded hearing Brook's words. "It is cold out here." She said pulling her jacket closer for warmth.
"Thanks." Maryn said happily accepting the bread from Brook. "Thanks, I'm hungry." She said putting a piece in her mouth. "And bored." She added laughing a bit. Maryn suddenly had an idea and turned towards Brook. "Hey, wanna go down by the lake?" She asked. "It beats sitting here. Besides, if you like fish, I've caught and cooked one before." She joked. Maryn could actually do that as gross as it seemed to some. It wasn't really gross at all. Just eating, Maryn laughed to herself. Fishing was fun for her even though it took a great bit of patience. Maryn hated waiting for things but fishing was something she was used to. Maryn looked at Brook waiting for a response.

Wondering if the remark was true or not Brook stood up and said, "Sure! Let's go!" and picked up her stuff after dusting her clothes off and quickly touching up her eyeliner, wondering, but then again not really caring, if Maryn had seen. Putting everything back into it's place she waited for Maryn to stand up before she asked about the fish comment. Leaving behind her water bottle Brook leapt won a few seats and waited for Maryn to catch up. ((don't know what to write!! SORRY ))
