St. Patrick's Day. The day that people around the world remember St. Patrick. True, Wendi wasn't Irish, but why be left out of the fun? If Irish people all over were going to pinch each other and look for leprechauns than so would Wendi. "Little little leprechaun, where are you today? Little little leprechaun come out and play!" Wendi sang happily getting dressed for the day. But, what would she where? Green of course! After all she didn't want to get pinched. No, Wendi would rather do the pinching. Classes had just ended for the day and Wendi was eager to go outside by the lake. She quickly threw off her Hufflepuff robes and they landed on her bed. Wendi scurried over to her trunk for a little clothes shopping. "What to ware?" She asked excitedly to herself. What did she have that was green? Wendi grinned finding the perfect outfit. She pulled on her celery green capris pants and her pale yellow top that had green leaf detailing on the sides of it. Wendi put on her green flip flops with it. She then walked over and put on her light weight white little jacket. It was still a bit chilly outside as winter hadn't fully left the school yet. All that was left was for Wendi to fix her hair. She pulled her hair up in a side pony tail and added a green ribbon. With that, Wendi turned and left her dorm room.
"Hop, hop, hop." Wendi called jumping down the stairs by twos. True, it may seem a bit childish for some, but Wendi was excited. It was St. Patrick's Day! Maybe it wasn't one of the best holidays, but a fun one none the less! She scurried down the stairs getting tired of the hopping. Wendi could see it was a beautiful day through the windows as she passed. What a perfect St. Patty's day. Wendi thought happily to herself. It seemed like a perfect day for lounging at the lake and that's exactly what Wendi intended on doing. Well, she did plan on having her little adventures. But, adventures were a part of Wendi.
Finally, Wendi reached the castle door. She quickly ran up to it and pulled it open with all her might. After that, Wendi giggled at her finished task and ran down laughing towards the lake. Wendi found the perfect spot next to the water and plopped her boy down. She looked into the icy blue water and looked at the fish below. They all looked at her as if she were the craziest thing in the world. She smiled happily. Wendi wouldn't help but wonder what kind of creatures lie below the water's surface. Well, she would probably never know as Wendi wouldn't dare swim in it. Wendi shook off the thought sitting indian style. She peered around her looking for a clover. Finding one, Wendi stuck it in her hair. Finding more, she starting making a little necklace out of the. Wendi was so engrossed in her work she didn't hear someone behind her.

Myn looked down at her red top critically then reached for the green top lying on the bed. She smiled sheepishly at her actions but couldn't shake off her faith in superstitions. Witches and wizards were real, why not leprechauns? She left her brown hair down, just pulling a brush through it and adding a silver clip to keep it out of her eyes before walking out of her dorm.
Myn skirted past the chattering people blocking the corridors, heading for the lake. She just wanted to sit by the lake and think, maybe joining a group later and talking with them. Her green eyes flashed with silent anger when a girl elbowed her and knocked her into the wall but she kept walking towards the lake, knowing that the calm of the water would calm her down.
Myn reached the lake and frowned, dismayed by the sight of another girl already there. She shrugged and sighed, maybe some company could lift her blackened mood. She smiled at the other girl, recognising her as another first year but not remembering which house she was in. Not Ravenclaw, she knew the other first years in her house but not in the other three houses. "Can I sit here?" She asked, sitting down without waiting for an answer.
Myn put her right hand into the icy water and laughed quietly when the fish swam away, frightened by the invasion of their home. The fish soon swam back to their previous places when her hand didn't move. After a few minutes she pulled her hand out and shook the droplets off, rubbing the hand on her pants to dry it completely. She looked over at the other girl and tried to make conversation. After all, she thought cheerfully, no point in us both sitting here and ignoring eachother, is there?
"I'm Myn, a Ravenclaw first year." She ran a hand through her hair, a nervous habit that she had never broken, as she introduced herself and sank into silence, waiting for the girl to say something.

Wendi tried the clovers together with her little fingers. She poked holes in each stem leaving a little place for another clover stem to be placed. Then, Wendi tied a little not pressing them together. She then started the process over again. Wendi smiled finding more clovers on the ground to help her with the necklace. It was coming together quite nicely and Wendi couldn't wait to put it on. With it, nobody could pinch Wendi. Wendi giggled to herself. Nope, Wendi would much rather pinch people. It was more fun that way. Of course everything was more fun with a bit of pinching involved. Wendi glanced up from her work every now and then smiling at the blue sky. Yes, it really was a great St. Patrick's Day. Wendi was still piecing together her master piece when she heard a voice behind her.
Wendi turned temporally put her work on the ground. She looked at the first year who had spoken to her. Wendi smiled brightly not minding the company at all. Besides, St. Patrick's day wasn't meant to be spent alone! Wendi listened to the girls words. "Sure, no problem at all." Wendi squeaked out cheerfully. She always made such a strong first impression. But, was that a problem? To Wendi it was a good thing. People should know right off the bad what kind of person you are. Wendi picked up her work continuing it still looking at the girl. Wendi watched as she dipped her hand in the water. Wendi giggled watching the fish swim away. They were frightened little creatures, but Wendi loved them any way.
Wendi nodded cheerfully. "Hi, I'm Wendi Parson." She said in her normal high pitched voice. It was pretty comical the way she talked, but Wendi couldn't help it. "Hufflepuff first year." She said letting it be known she was indeed a happy little Huffle. Wendi grinned thinking that she probably recognized this girl from classes. Wendi finished her necklace smiling as she put it around her neck. Wendi glanced up at Myn. "You know it's St. Patrick's day, right? If not your missing out on a super holiday." She announced happily. Wendi grinned in her normal fashion. She then looked at her neck, having an idea and then back at Myn. "Hey, I can make you want of these if you want! It's easy." Wendi laughed pointing to her necklace. She waited for Myn to answer.

Myn nodded happily. "Who doesn't know that its St. Patricks day! Its a brilliant holiday, thought I must admit that I'm not irish." She smiled, considering the other girls offer of making her a necklace before nodding and starting to pick some clovers. "Sure! How do you do it? I haven't made one in so long that I've forgotten how to. I used to make them all the time but lately I haven't had the time." She half-smiled, still picking the clovers. "I guess its my Ravenclaw attitude. Work, study and get good marks."
Her fingers instinctively poked holes in to the stems of the clovers, threading the next stem through before poking another hole. Myn looked down and smiled, apparently she still remembered how to make them. She turned back to Wendi. "So, tell me something about yourself." Her eyes flashed with silent amusement, remembering how shy she had been at the beginning of the year and comparing the person she was then to who she was now. At the start of the year, she had sat in silence, not bothering anyone. A small smile grew on her lips. Now, with the help of a few people, she could talk to a girl she hardly knew without being nervous.
Myn lifted the finished necklace over her head and grinned, enjoying the childish activity. After all, she reasoned, children should act like children. There's enough time for acting like an adult when you are one. Who wants to grow up before they should? Her hands dipped into the water again, grinning when the fish ignored the intrusion in to their home and moving her hands to let her fingers brush against them.

Wendi grinned as Myn said she indeed liked St. Patrick's Day. She was so glad someone besides her appreciated it. Why didn't some people? Wendi would never understand why some people didn't celebrate one of the best holidays ever! Well, at least in her mind. She giggled just thinking about people in Ireland celebrating it. How she wished she was there joining in the madness. "We should have a rescue mission to save anyone who doesn't celebrate St. Patrick's Day from the misery of not having fun!" Wendi joked loudly. Oh, it was such a good holiday and she was becoming more excited by the second. Wendi glanced over to the still lake. She wished it could share in the holiday, but of course it was a lake. But, Professor Dumbledore could probably turn the water green. But, there was no purpose in that. Wendi looked back at Myn with a grin on her face. "I'm not Irish either." She explained trying to calm down but her squeaky voice still echoing across the grounds. "But, that doesn't mean we can't have as much fun as the Irish do!" She cheered hearing her voice echo. Wendi smiled at the noise.
Wendi nodded listening to Myn. "Ah huh." She said cheerfully. "You just pick the clovers, poke a whole on the end of one and pull another through." She said watching Myn do it. "See you still remember." She smile happily watching. Wendi glanced at her completed necklace. She had done a good job on it and Wendi hadn't done a good one in awhile. She glanced back Myn watching her work. Wendi listened to Myn tell her to say something about herself. Hmm, what should I say? Wendi wracked her brains for a second. There was so much about Wendi's life and parents that could be told. But, of course, Wendi wasn't quite ready to talk about all of that yet. She shrugged looking at Myn. "Well, I'll tell you a few things." She said cheerfully fining things appropriate to say. "I have a brother, Jamison. He is a Ravenclaw fifth year. Basically all my family was placed in there. Well, except for me and one other." She hesitated knowing she really hadn't meant to say that. "My uncle was the only Slytherin in my family." She said softly. Wendi then perked up wanting to disguise her sorrow for a moment. "Umm, I love candy! Actually, if I could grow up and own a candy shop, that would be great." She paused. "It might seem childish but I don't care what people think." She said still cheerful. "So, I gave you Wendi Parsons brief history, your turn Myn." She waited for the girl to reply.

Myn nodded in agreement. "It would be a fun mission. I don't think many of the older students would appreciate it though - a few might but not many." Happy to find another person who apparently loved St. Patricks day as much as Myn did, she listened to Wendi quietly. "Of course we should have as much fun as the Irish! Why should they have all the fun when we love St. Patricks day just as much as they do." Grinning at the echo from Wendi's cheer, Myn added her own cheer with a delighted grin at the loud echo.
"I don't think many things that we learn are ever actually forgotten. Like horse riding or riding a bicycle. Apparently making necklaces from clovers isn't easily forgotten either." She shrugged and laughed, easily amused by the childish conversation. "You have an older brother? What is he like?" Myn asked, eager to know about something she could never have. Being the only child had its perks but nothing could replace what she imagined the love and companionship of a brother or sister was like. "I don't believe that all Slytherins are bad." She protested mildly. "It can't be possible for all of one house to be as evil as their reputation claims. Every house has their problems." Myn frowned thoughtfully then nodded. "Yes, if I ever get into a conversation with a Slytherin then I'll try to prove it."
A quiet laugh came from Myn at Wendi's desire to own a candy shop before she reassured her that it was a good idea. "It's not a silly idea at all. Candy is brilliant! After all, Catalina's Cubby is partly a candy shop I suppose. Everyone loves it there. Don't listen to what other people say. When people are miserable, they generally like to make others miserable too." Myn paused when asked to tell something about herself, searching for something positive to say. "My Dad is a wizard, he was a Ravenclaw before he graduated. I'm an only child but sometimes I wish I had an older brother or sister. Someone to give me advice and such. Most of my family from my Dad's side have been Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, a few Slytherins but we don't have much contact with the family anymore." Myn fell silent, having run out of positive things to say about her family. Even with the small amount of information she had given, she had verged onto the negative side.
