Jack buried his head in his hands. He hated this. Head-aches and he was getting all sniffly. Yuck. Jack grabbed another tissue glaring meaningfully at anyone in the dorm. Allergies sucked, no duh. Trying to ignore his pounding temples, Jack flopped down on his bed, taking the Kleenex box with him. He would need it later. Stupid spring. He hated this season almost as bad as winter. In fact, it seemed like he hated everything now. Everything that made him suffer, even the minor things like head-colds and runny noses. Spring was one of those insufferable things. The sun was out and shining, tantalizing Jack as he lay in bed blowing his nose. Hardly any sun showed in the Slytherin common room, so this was even worse then just seeing the room lighten up a bit. Why did everything wish to torture him so? True to be told, Jack wasn't a big outdoor fan. Being sweaty, muddy, hot, sticky... forget it. But it was better then moping around inside, you got to admit.
Rolling over on his side, Jack ignored the sunlight. Or tried anyway. He could feel it on his back, warming his neck... argh! His throbbing head didn't help much either, and his stomach was growling from hunger. Jack ignored that too. He didn't want to eat, in fear it would just come right back up. But putting that aside, he really had nothing better to do then go outside. Perhaps the finally ice chunk was gone off the lake. That would be something. A whistling noise made him close his eyes to recover himself. Ouch. It was windy out. Oh well. He was going outside. With a couple tissues. Hey, you never knew what might happen out there.
The halls were pretty much empty today. Usually it would have brightened Jack's mood plenty - bustling hallways full of filth were no fun at all - but today it only made him grumble. Everyone was outside. Where he was going. There would be lots of sounds out there, sounds that would probably drive him insane. High pitch squealing of annoying girls from Hufflepuff, the rattling on of Ravens, the... everything, okay? Everything. Even the birds would probably get a rock thrown at them today, if Jack found one near him at the time. Well, he couldn't help it. It wasn't his fault he had come down with this thing, this disease or whatever you want to call it. Scowling, Jack exited Hogwarts only to be greeted by the buffeting wind.
It was chilly. So the sun had enticed him to come out here and it had tricked him. Imagine that. And Jack had no coat. The only damn thing he had brought out were tissues. Tissues! Yeah, that bad. The lake was crowded on one side, the side without trees. Amazing how stupid people were. Jack hurried for the trees, making a direct line that was impenetrable. He wasn't about to let anyone stop him from getting there, or take his spot. Alas, when he reached the trees, very out of breath and very frustrated, no one was there. He had seceded. Splaying across the grass, Jack let his head fall in the softer patches of grass. Ah. It was cool and refreshing, and smelled increasingly like.... grass. Maybe it would make his headache go away. After a few minutes, Jack sat up. Forget that. Who cares if it made his head better, the smell... he couldn't stand it! He managed to lean up against the large trunk of a tree comfortably and close his eyes. Just to block out any other annoying sights.
