The last pile of dirt was stacked neatly in the corner of her workspace. At last. Kitty wiped away the beads of sweat that had formed on her brow with her gardening gloves and stood back to admire her handiwork. She had been digging for a while now, trying to create big enough holes for this very large plant that she was going to grow. Each hole seemed to be two and a half feet deep, and among the six holes was five feet of space. That should be enough, she dearly hoped. If the rosebushes' branches intertwined together, they wouldn't' be able to grow without causing problems to the other bush. It was with great caution that she had dug these holes, and finally she had finished that.
Always after doing a job well done, Kitty felt like flopping down and having a snack. Preferably an ice-cream in this weather. But no ice-cream was in sight, and she couldn't just sit down in the shade. Kitty had to stay where she was and continue laboring for the plants. This time she would have to put the seeds in and then put the dirt back on. A dirty job, but that's fine. She could deal. Clasping her hands together so the dirt fell away, Kitty took them off the gloves and threw them on the ground. After a bit, she sat down as well. The bag of seeds sat beside her, looking very lonely. Aw, well they'll have a home soon. Kitty looked at her holes again, very pleased with what she saw, before turning to the bags.
"Dagnabbit!" Kitty muttered when the bag refused to open. She dug her long nails deeper into it, but the material wouldn't tear. After getting this far, she would let a bag of seeds stop her? Kitty got at it with teeth and claw, but no matter how hard she tugged, pulled, and chewed, the bag remained firmly sealed. She needed something sharp, like a pocket knife. Kitty sat back, breathing heavily, and glared at the bag. She didn't feel any pity for it now. "Don't you want to go into your new home?" She asked realistically, waving toward the beautiful holes. No answer reached her. Sighing with frustration, Kitty leaned back, letting herself fall onto her back. She would try again when she got more of her strength back. That bag would rule the day it ever decided not to open for her! Kitty thought rolling to her side so she could look at the bag. She had never met one so rude.

Tobias had to be in the school most of the day dealing with class and work he had to turn in the next day. Tobias finally finished his work and threw it all in his trunk till he had to turn it in. He toke his wand out and closed his trunk with a slam. He made his way down the stairs to the common then left to the stairs and started walking down. He had to wait till the stairs stopped moving till he got on which happened a few times on his way to the bottom floor. Tobias looked around and then opened the castle door and left to walk around. He kept walking till he saw what looked like a girl playing in the dirt.
Tobias soon found a tree to sit under but could still she the girl from the tree now he could tell she was digging but for what he didn't know and wasn't even about to guess. He kept looking around the grounds but somehow kept looking back at the girl to see what she was doing next. Tobias got up and started to walk over; on his way there he could hear her say something about a new home. As he got closer he saw it looked like she was trying to plant something in the ground. For a second there he thought she wanted to live under ground or something.
She had rolled on her side by the time he made it closer to her and saw she was trying to open a bag of something probably seeds. "Well that looks fun now doesn't it?" He said smiling stand close to the girl on the ground. "But if you can't get it open that way why not just use magic to open it.” He said looking down at her. "And hi, I'm Tobias."

Kitty looked up; "Oh, hi. My name's Kitty. I don't think we've ever met before. But all the better now, right?" She rolled on her back to see Tobias clearly, if upside-down. He appeared to be questioning her but for some strange reason his voice was strangely muffled. The grass. Sitting up, she managed to catch enough. Magic. She looked at the bag. Oh.
"Well... I've never really used magic before. So I shouldn't have to use it now." She picked it up, her fingers nearly dropping it when she felt the chewed up part. Even though it was her spit on there. It was still icky. She tried to tear. No luck. She tried to bite it, again. Still nothing. She shrugged and looked up at Tobias again. Except off the ground. She wanted to hear and see him this time, not just one. "I guess I can use magic. I mean, this is a special case. Usually nothing survives my nails, and if that happens, I can bite through it. But for some reason it's just not working out today..." She shook her head, her brown hair cascading into her eyes. Thinking.
"Diffindo!" She cried, pointing wand directly at the seal that would not open. It sliced and cut, just like the spell was meant to do. Kitty watched it with grim satisfaction. "Hey, it worked!" She still looked sullen, even when she produced the small seeds in her palm. She always brightened up when she say seeds. Seeds were good, pretty. This time though was different. She looked up at Tobias. "I always plant muggle style. This is the first time I actually used magic to do something so simple." Kitty smiled and craned her neck back to look at him. "So, I don't know you. You don't know me. Besides the fact I like planting and getting dirty. Tell me about yourself." Kitty liked good stories. Sitting cross-legged, she put the seeds in her shoes - a very safe place to stay. Of course, she couldn't stand up with them in there, but for now it worked. She grinned and waited.

Tobias kept watching her struggle with the bag, she was kind of right. He always did things the Muggle way first then the magic way second but even after a few second of tying to get a bag open he would have used magic just to get it over with. He had to laugh when she started to bite the bag to get it open. ” She is an odd one, this one." He thought to himself. Finally she decided to go with his suggestion on using magic but she didn't seem all that happy it worked, soon the bag was opened and the seeds came out. She then said it was the first time she used magic on something so simple. "Yea but that seemed like one tough bag." He said smiling looking down at her.
She soon looked up and him sitting cross legged and asked him to tell her about himself. He never was good at talking about himself to other people. He said down a crossed from her and watched her put the seeds in her shoe. "Well... There not much about me I like to talk about..." He said looking over at her. "I’m Tobias, I'm in Gryffindor fifth year. So what about you besides planting things and getting dirty." He said waiting for her to answer.

A silly grin spread across her face when the guy laughed. She liked laughter. Not at her, mind, but with her. Kitty's teacher for fourth grade always said that laughter encouraged her behavior, which in its own was half-way true. "Tough?" She shrugged. "Maybe. Okay, it was. Nothing gets past my nails. But this one survived through my nails and teeth! It's not fair. Why would this bag be any different from the others?" Kitty mused, tapping her knee with her finger. She just shrugged. Thinking about stuff too hard and too long made her head hurt. Real bad. She didn't want a head-ache, that was bad. Especially if they were to continue this conversation.
Kitty tilted her head to the side. "You don't like to talk about yourself? Why, I wonder? Are you a bad kid, or are you shy and unsure, but pretend to be someone else?" Kitty guessed quickly. She was good at this type of stuff. Well, sort of. Tobias might just be out-spoken like herself. She never could really tell. Kitty couldn't imagine someone not liking to talk about themselves. She loved it. Given the chance, she could gladly rant all day! "I"m Kitty Jones, a Huffle fourth year. I'm muggle-born and I'm super proud of it! Even those meanie Slytherins don't bug me. The rest is practically... like, here. I like to plant and I love watching things grow, except for people. Getting gray hair probably sucks bad. But I like growing. It's fun." She paused, thinking. "Oh, yah, I like fixing stuff too. Mechanical stuff, mainly, but anything can work." She grinned.
"Right now, I was planting a rose bush until you most rudely interrupted me." She smiled and winked. "Nah, I'm just joking. I don't mind company. Company's fun! Unless they're boring and don't talk a lot. Are you boring?" She tapped her chin. "I don't think you are. Everyone's really cool. Really cool! Do you like plants? Probably not. You're a boy. All boys don't like pretty stuff. I think. That's what everyone says. Do you like pretty things like flowers?" She grinned and flopped down on the grass, squinting as the sun beat down on her. "You must! Flowers are really, really cool! I love flowers. Any plant is nice for me. Just watching them grow is fun. Did you know," she said in a hushed whisper, "that rosebushes aren't just roses, but they're thorns too?!" She leaned forward a fraction of a second before leaning back, away from Tobias. The secret was over. "Do you care helping me with this? I like help. Unless you mess up. Then the rosebushes won't grow good. And I'll blame you next time I see you!" She warned, pulling the seeds out of her shoe. "Your shoe is your safest place ever, did you know that? If you're sitting, that is."

Tobias just sat there listening to her talk, she could talk more then anybody he had ever met before. It was a change from his normal days of just sitting down by himself that was for sure. Then she started to try and explain why he didn't like to talk about himself. Tobias made a half smile, it was funny and yet kind of made him mad but he tried to get over it. "No, I wouldn't say I'm a bad kid. I just don't like to talk about myself much less to people I just met." He said looking over at her. She started talking again about herself. He had to laugh she sure was a funny one but seemed nice so she could keep talking if she wanted.
"Well it’s nice to meet you." He said smiling looking down at her shoes still confused on why she put the seeds there but seeing as he thought she was some what crazy he guessed it would have been a perfectly logically place for them. "Yea I wouldn't think watching people grow would be that much fun." He said looking back up at her. Then she went on about what she was doing and what she was growing and every time she seemed to ask him a question she answered it herself and he just smiled. "Well it looks like you don't need me to have a conversation." He laughed then went back to smiling.
"Sure I'll Help sounds like fun I guess." After he said that she explained about putting the seeds in her shoes and it made sense now. "And I'll try not to mess them up but as you said before also you wrong about boys not liking pretty things. We like a lot of pretty things." He said trying to think of a few things then giving up. "So..." He paused for a second not knowing the first think about planting roses. "What do I help with first?" He asked a little confused.

Tobias sure didn't talk a lot. He just said a few sentences. Nothing wrong there, unless he didn't like Kitty exercising her mouth all the time. She leaned back and grinned. "I know you aren't. I was just asking. Mum says I have to stay away from bad influences, because I'm already pretty darn crazy." She shrugged and rocked back and forth. "She says I talk too much, do too much, and... lot's of other stuff. But I say, "mum, I wonder where I got all that from?" And then she'd get all angry and upset, saying she wasn't the instigator or something' weird, and then I'd be grounded for the whole weekend. I go home every weekend. Every single weekend. Most of the time it's just for Daddy, but every other time its because Jerome and Mum are too lazy to do chores, and they want me to do it all. Isn't that unfair? Oh, and it's very nice to meet your too!" She gushed, stopping her crazed rocking because it might have endangered the seeds.
"People growing is super duper boring. They grow so slow. Pretty plants grow a lot faster! A lot, lot faster. A lot fun to watch too!" She smiled and took the seeds out of her shoe, giving Tobias one. "Great! I always like help. It gets kind of old talking to the seeds when I put them in, because they never talk back. I wonder why? They're just as alive as we are, but yet they just can't say a few things back to me when I'm so gratefully planting them and giving them life." Kitty frowned in thought. "Anyway, you help by putting each seed carefully in each hole. Make sure it's right in the middle so it has bunches of room to grow. Then put the dirt pile next to each one back in the hole, patting it real soft around the seed. Then you're done! It's real dirty. You sure you want to?" She asked, standing and giving him two more seeds so they each had three. "Okay, well, you start on the left and I'll start on the right. Hopefully we'll have it done real quick and then we might have time to put water on them!"
