Rayne sighed as she made her way over to the lake. It was an extremely dull day. It was overly cloudy and looked like it would rain. Rayne liked the weather today though it suited her mood perfectly. Rayne clutched her robes tighter around her as the wind picked up. She reached up and took her hair out of the ponytail letting the wind play with it. She absolutely loved the rain and she loved storms. She really hoped it would be a good storm tonight.
Rayne sat down at the lakes edge looking for the giant squid. Oddly enough she actually had conversations with the squid. It was probably why people didn't talk to her much. They thought it was odd how she was generally always happy and how she talked to something that didn't talk back. She enjoyed talking to the squid though. It didn't exactly listen but it didn't make fun of her thoughts either. It didn't force her to listen to it's problems when she had one of her own. The squid wasn't out however so instead of just sitting there Rayne picked up some flat stones and began skipping them across the lakes surface.

Linda had been walking out on the grounds, happy to be out of the library for once as she saw it was about to storm outside--and she always did enjoy a good storm. Back at home in the city she barely had much space to be able to enjoy one, mostly she had been restrained to various rooftops but out here, in Hogwarts she had discovered them in an entirely different way!
Clutching her robes around her a bit tighter she made her way towards the lake happily, she had always wanted to come across one of it's creatures--found the very idea of them living there in the lake fascinating but alas, she had yet to truly witness one. She stared down at her socks and momentarily frowned at their mis-matchedness, she had been late getting ready that morning and put on the first pair she saw (that one was blue and the other verging on a greenish color apparantly hadn't affected her senses enough to realize they had been different).
Sighing, she was about to settle into a patch of grass when she realized the lake was not deserted. She tilted her head to the side and squinted her eyes wondering who else would dare to be out here in what would soon be a storm.
"Hello there," she said brightly announcing herself to the dark-haired girl who had been caught up skipping stones across the lake's surface.

Rayne looked up startled out of her thoughts by someone greeting her brightly. "Oh hello. Sorry I didn't notice you I was thinking." She said brushing the hair away from her eyes so she could see the new girl more clearly. The girl looked older then her and she wasn't in her house either which made Rayne wonder why she bothered to talk to a lowly first year like her.
Dropping the stones Rayne made her way over to where the girl was standing. "Hi my name is Rayne it's nice to meet you." Even though she was in an uncharateristically bad mood it didn't stop her from being polite or trying to make new friends. She loved people especially new people as she loved making a new friend. "What are you doing out here on a day like this?" She asked trying to make conversation.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Linda," she replied evenly as she sat down by the lake next to the girl. Usually she didn't speak to students below her year--then again she didn't really speak to many people at all. But it wasn't that she didn't want to, or thought less of them or anything. Quite the contrary, sometimes their take on life was much more refreshing than people her own age's.
"I could ask you the same question," she said with a grin, easing into a conversation. She didn't start them easily, but once she had settled in the stream of conversation flowed from her lips.
"I don't know," she said calmly, picking at the lint off of her socks. "It's going to storm, I like them. I want to be here. You?"
