Thomas had come down from the school with Linda, a young girl he just met in the common room she was pretty fun to be around. He asked if she wanted to go down the lake and she agreed which he liked because it was a beautiful day. Thomas sat down by one of the trees closest to the lake. Linda wanted to see the Giant Squid so she went right to the lake. He smiled as he saw her looking into the lake. "You'll never find him that way!" He yelled while she was searching the lake.
"I have a better way if you get bored of looking!" He said laughed it seemed she was having fun. He really didn't know of a way but he had a good idea to get the squid to come out.

As soon as they had arrived she sauntered over to the edge of the lake, peering into the dark waters beneath her. She ran her hand over the surface of the water in hopes that maybe the slight disturbance would create a domino effect resulting in the squid's appearance--she had read about such things.
Finally she stood and looked over at Thomas with a smile playing on her lips. She was slightly squinting against the sun and could barely see his figure against the tree. "Well then, what's your way of looking for giant squid?"

He smiled then put two fingers in his mouth and made a loud whistle. "It’s going to take a while so you might as well sit down!" He smiled hoping that it would work. He started to think to himself. "Am I trying to impress her or something." But he just laughed the thought off. He looked over at the castle and still nothing. He sat back knowing it would take a long time.
He looked up at the sky it was beautiful today; it was sunny with a nice breeze one of the days he lived for.

She sat and waited, cross-legged and face in her palms by the edge of the lake. It would surely come out now, it had to. Tommy said the whistle would bring it to it.
Sighing she watched him out of the corner of her eye, as he languidly laid back across the tree. She was enjoying his company and wished she had met him sooner. No one until then had latched on to her facination with the Giant Squid until then, now she knew she wasn't the only one who wanted to see it.
Sitting there she let out a low whistle. "Are you sure this is going to work Tommy?"
But as soon as the words had escaped her lips she eyed a small bubbling in the middle of the large lake. Slowly the bubbling increased. She ran over excitedly to where Tommy sat and grabbed his hand dragging him over to the edge of the lake. "LOOK! You were right!"

As soon as she asked him if it would work something happened in the lake. He sat up then she grabbed his arm and dragged him over to the edge of the lake. "I didn't think it would really work." He thought to himself. "I've seen it come up when you whistle but I didn't think I got it right.” He kept thinking then laughed as the bubbles got bigger.
One of the tentacles popped out of the surface of the lake then another. "Well I guess you got your wish." He looked over at her, Linda seemed excited. Thomas was sure the rest of the Squid was soon to appear. "Go on touch it." He said with a smile saying it like it was a dare.

She smirked in Thomas' direction. "Why don't you touch it first?"
She was still very much in awe of the creature that was surfacing from the lake, it's thick tentacles fluttering about in an almost confused manner and she was absolutely giddy at the reality of what she was witnessing. Three years and it took until then for her to finally get her wish.

Thomas laughed when she told him to he had seen the Squid before and touched it only once but it was friendly. Thomas. "Ok Ill touch it.” He put his hand out and pets the tactical as soon as he did that a few more came up. "It's like a big wet dog with no fur." He smiled over at her. Then he grabbed one of he hands and put it up to one of the tentacles. "Now it’s your turn." He laughed, and then put her hand on one of the tentacles.

As soon as she put her hand on the creature, she could feel it's slipperly skin sliding beneath her hand. She grinned and let out a small noise of pleasure as the tentacles fluttered about. It really was no more dangerous than a big wet dog. The color of it's skin had to be most fascinating, a dark grey almost the color of the water so as to be able to hide at a moment's notice.
"Wow! This is amazing!" she exclaimed, "I wonder if---" Her sentence was cut off as one of the tentacles came from behind, knocking her over and down into the icy cold lake water.

Thomas Stood up when she fell in it was too much he just had to pointed and laughed. He kept laughing till he saw one of the tentacles come after him he. It was too late to dodge it or anything it just throw him in the lake. His head popped out of the lake he was all wet but still laughing. He swam closer to Linda Tentacles still above the surface.
"Well is this what you were looking for?" He just smiled and laughed then splashed Linda seeing her head was still dry. "There you go." He smiled, this had to be one of the best times he had at the lake.

She frowned thorougly shaking from the chill of the water and scowled at him.
"Well is this what you were looking for?" he asked, still struggling to put a sentence together through the laughter.
"Not exactly!" she said through chattering teeth. It was then that he thought it an opportune moment to splash what remained of her dryness.
After recovering from the water in her eye, the scowl on her face melted away into a smile. "OH you're not getting away with that I'm afraid!" She started flailing about in what would probably seem an amusing spectacle to the passerby, but in the end successfuly throwing much water all in Tommy's direction.

After Thomas wet Linda she decides to return the favor. Thomas after getting wet got the water off his face smiling He started to splash water right back. "In the words of the great Bugs Bunny, You know this means war?" He said laughing. The Squid must have just figured out what they were going. He picked up one of its tentacles and slammed it into the water making a huge splash wetting both of them.
Thomas could help but laugh it was the first time he saw the Squid to that. "I see we have a third person joining." Thomas said smiling and laughing.

After the squid had joined in they spent a good long time swimming about, she was thankful she hadn't put on her robes and was merely in her school uniform or else she would've probably been dragged down to the bottom of the lake! A few more splashing games and Linda finally noted that the beautiful day was turning into evening.
She swam over to the edge of the lake and dragged her sopping wet body out of the lake with some effort. Once out, she waved towards him from where he had just emerged in the lake gesturing for him to join her.
"Who knew the lake could be so much fun!" she exclaimed as he also dragged himself out of the lake. They both eyed the squid who had been swimming around the edges for the time they had been exploring the lake. One of its tentacles flailed about in a most heated manner.
"Tommy, I think he's saying goodbye!" she said in a sort of awed whisper.

Thomas got out of the lake soaked. He could have easily used a spell to dry off but something’s were more fun the muggle way. He looked over at the squid it did in fact look to be waving. "Ether it's waving or planning its revenge." He said smiling and laughing. He didn't even notice how late it got but it didn't matter anyway they won't have to go in soon unless that nosey cat came up.
Thomas fell on the grass a little tired but it had been fun. "So I guess you can check seeing the Giant Squid off your list of things to do." He looked up at her smiling and laughing. "Also check off water fight in the lake with the Gaint Squid."

She laughed and spread herself out on the grass to dry. "Now I just have travel the world, see a dragon, and pass Potions with an O," she paused and bit her lip, "Although the last one might be the most hard to come by."
They lay there staring up as the sky darkened and the little twinkling lights that were stars surfaced int he blanket of night. She vaguely wondered if maybe they should start heading in--surely their curfew was about up. She'd ventured out a few times after curfew, but it was mostly to go to the Astronomy Tower. She absolutely loved the Tower, at least when it was empty of other bodies (she'd walked in a few times on a couple scenes she probably shouldn't have seen).
But here in the grass, the view of the sky was almost just as grand. Sighing contently she spoke, "Merlin, there's a lot of them aren't there?" She commented, referring to the stars overhead.

Thomas put his arm around her neck and waving his other in the air. "Well my young witch let me tell you about the meaning of life." He said with a voice that kind of sound like an old person. He started laughing. "The meaning of life is to... well... I know it has to do with something important." He said stopping the voice. "Ok I don't really know." Thomas smiled looking back up at the stars. "You’re right, there sure are a lot of them." He said thinking back about his home in London. "Where I live in London you can't see any stars."
"My sisters and me went camping once, it was the first time we ever really saw stars. “ He seemed a little said after saying then. He just closed his eyes thinking of his family back when he was young.
