Caiest sighed. It was so unbearably hot outside. How did summer approach them so fast? It was like Spring didn't even stay. Caiest got up from where she'd been sitting in the shade and walked around a bit. She'd been sitting in the same spot for hours trying to figure some things out and all she could think about was how hot it was. Caiest walked around the tree and approached the lake it looked so cool and inviting. Caiest looked around to see if anyone was looking and they weren't. So taking a deep breath Caiest jumped into the lake letting the clear cool water rush over her.

When she resurfaced there was a student looking at her like she was crazy and maybe she was but it sure beat the hell out of roasting on dry land. "Be you friend or foe?" She called. Treading water so she would stay afloat.

Katrina looked around the common room. She was the only one inside. The others were either outside enjoying the sun or doing their homework in the library. She sighed. It had been so hot these days that even the slytherins decided to rest for a while. She looked out the window and saw other people laughing and joking around with their friends. It won't hurt stopping for a moment.. She thought to herself. And besides, i've been reading this book for the last three hours. I'm sure a walk outside won't hurt. And with that, she walked out of the Gryffindor common room with a feeling that she will meet someone new.

She breathed in smell of summer, feeling the sun's rays dancing about on her skin. She decided to go down to the lake seeing that the wind might pick up the coolness of it and blow it towards her. She skipped towards it but stopped short when she saw a Ravenclaw bigger than her jump into the lake.

She must be crazy. She thought to herself. I mean, like I know it's hot and all that but it doesn't mean that we can jump into the lake. And besides, she is a GIRL. What if somone sees her. After a few minutes of staring, she heard the girl ask her something. Katrina looked suprised at what she asked but replied, "Well, I'm not a friend nor a foe. But if I can, I would like to be your friend." Then she added with a smile, "I'm Katrina by the way. What's yours? And what are you doing down there?" She waited patiently to see what the ravenclaw girl would answer her....

"Well I'm not a friend or a foe. But if I can, I would like to be your friend." The girl responded and Caiest smiled. At least the girl didn't think she was weird for asking. That made Caiest think better of her. Caiest smiled when the girl introduced herself as Katrina. "Nice to meet you Katrina. The name is Caiest hang on a sec." Caiest took a deep breath and went under the water. All of the effort it took to keep afloat was making her arms hurt so she sat under the water for a little bit so her arms wouldn't hurt so much. Just when Caiest couldn't hold her breath any longer she swam back up to the surface. "I'm swimming. What does it look like I'm doing?" She asked treading water once more. "You can join me if you'd like." She said surprising herself with the offer. Caiest normally didn't like people and tended to stay to herself. It made her wonder what had changed.

Katrina smiled a bit when she heard the girl introduce herself Caiest. She watched in awe as Caiest took a deep breath and went under water. She only had to wait a few seconds before her head popped onto the surface of the lake again and told Katrina a something.

At first, she didn't really get what she was trying to say, but soon she heard the words 'join' and 'you', she got a brief idea that she was trying to tell her 'you can join me if you'd like'. She stared at her as if she was crazy, but as her eyes fell on the crystal clear water of the inviting lake, she shook that thought out of her mind and reached behind her neck to see how hot she was. Indeed, she was sticky with sweat and....hot. She nodded, and replied, "I would LOVE to join you! It's so hot here." She jumped into the lake and swam for a bit, before reaching the surface again. She looked around for Caiest but found she wan't there. She whispered, "Caiest, where are you? Hope you didn't get eaten by the giant squid!"

Caiest smiled as Katrina decided to join her in the lake. It was obvious by her hesitation that she probably thought jumping into the lake with your clothes on was an insane idea. It made Caiest think better of Katrina that she jumped in anyway. It meant that Katrina had a sense of adventure something that was fading fast from their generation. It also meant that Katrina didn't care what others thought another trait that was fading fast from their generation. Caiest hated people who wouldn't do anything fun in fear of others judging them badly. The was she saw it the only one who can judge you is yourself. No one seemed to get that though.

After Katrina jumped in she swam under the water for a bit deciding to have a bit of fun she dunked silently under the water behind Katrina as she surfaced. Caiest went as far down as she could get making sure that Katrina couldn't see her if she looked down. After waiting for a bit Caiest swam up and grabbed Katrinas ankle before surfacing. "Gotcha" she said with a teasing smile on her face.

Katrina wiped the water from her eyes. Her heart was beating very fast as she searched the lake for Caiest. "Caiest! Where are you?" She shouted. She swam here and there, hoping to find her safe and sound. She was about to swim to the shore and continue her search, when somebody, or something grabbed her from underneath. "AHHHHHHHH!!" Thinking it was the squid, Katrina screamed at the top of her lungs, earning her a few glares there and a few stares here. She heard the voice of Caiest and turned to find a teasing smile on her face. "Hey! That's not fair!" She splashed some water on Caiest face playfully and swam away from her as fast as she could.
