(( I just thought it would be fun if all the muggleborns got together.!))
Cass sniffed the night air. It was a beautiful night to watch fireworks. The sky was completely clear. She laid the blanket she was carrying with her on the ground, and dumped the brown paper bag of fireworks on the ground in front of it.
The knees of her jeans became slightly damp as she kneeled down in the grass. Sneaking a lighter out of her pocket, she set one of the rockets in the grass. She lit wick and backed up a respectable distance. After a few moments, it ignited and flew into the air. A red dragon escaped from the paper wrapping and began fly through the air. " This is as close as I'll ever get to a dragon again." She smiled as she continued to watch it dance across the sky.

Bee walked over to the lake. It was a beautiful clear night but right now that didnt matter to Bee. "I hate those Slytherins" Bee said to herself. "I hate them all!" Well, not all of them. Not all of them laughed at her when she got pushed. Not all of them had sneered mudblood at her as she walked down the hallway. But..most of them did. Today had been the worst. She had tripped over her big feet and fell in the corridor. Slytherins were walking past when Bee fell. They all stopped to laugh at her and say: "Look at the stupid mudblood! She trips over her own feet!" But the worst part about it all was their laughs. Bee had been unable to stand it. She had ran away from all the laughing Slytherins in the corridor. Bee ran all the way to the common room but there she couldnt find peace either. Desperatly, and feeling all alone, Bee had went outside and that was where she was now. The tears were threatening to overwhelm Bee again as she thought about her horrible day. A sudden noise jerked her out of her thoughts. A dragon was in the air! "Oh my....." Bee said outloud. It took her a few seconds for her to realize it was a firework. Wow! Bee thought as she looked up at the dragon. That is so cool!

Colin had really enjoyed his first Astronomy class and wanted to see if he could remember all they had learnt once again. He was not in luck tonight though when he headed out on his mission as all he could see was a clear, pitch-black sky, with only a half-moon that lit up the path leading to the same place they had taken their class. Tomorrow was a Sunday so there was no need to worry about having to go to bed early and he had all the time he wanted to himself outside, so he decided to go on a short walk. Colin liked wandering about and exploring new places, and he wasn't really afraid of the dark. Colin had just begun to realise that he was going to have to be a bit more careful in the magical world he had entered for the first time this year than he had been ever since that day after his conversation with two older Ravenclaws who had explained to him the dangerous and hard times the magical world was going through at the moment. But that wasn't going to stop him from still being adventurous. He was just going to be a bit more cautious.
Telescope in hand and looking at the sky above him with awe, he was taken by surprise when he heard the sound of a burst of a firework just a short distance away from him. He suddenly smiled and remembered home, his family, and how much fun it was to light fireworks and watch the spectacular displays produced when they exploded in the sky. Suddenly he was overwhelmed by a longing to be back where he had came from that he had never felt before; the feeling was so strong and unexpected it took his breath away. He shook himself in an attempt to make it go away, surprised at himself. He had wanted to come to this world and he was very much enjoying being part of it. So the rose-coloured glasses had come off and there were problems in this world too. What had he expected? Certainly not that a war was brewing and kidnaps were happening – but then this was a very different world than the one he had been in, and he still wanted to be part of this world, even if he didn’t like everything about it. He missed the safety of home though. The realisation of the predicament the magical community was in right now must have triggered that longing inside him. Oh well. He'd better find someone to talk to rather than let the feeling get to him.
Not too far away were two girls who Colin instantly recognised were Gryffindors, though he had never talked to them before. Colin wasn't shy though, and he had learnt that if he was going to be scared of approaching people he didn’t know in this world there was a lot he wasn’t going to miss. Every person he met knew more about the magical world than he did, so the more he interacted with people the more he would fit in. "Hi," he said with a smile. "Lovely night for fireworks isn’t it? I was going to look at the stars myself, but there isn’t even a single one tonight," he said, trying to remember the girls' names.

A boy Bee had never talked to was walking up to her and the girl who had light the firework. She could not recognize either person in the dark but she was positive they were Gryffindors. The boy seemed to be younger the Bee. He had reached them by now and he started talking in a friendly way. Bee was only half listening; she couldn't keep her eyes of the dragon in the sky. Starting to realize this would be rude to him, Bee brought herself back to Earth. "Hi," Bee said politely. " It is a beautiful night out, but it is too bad there aren't many stars." Bee smiled at the boy and the said: "I don't think we have ever met before. My name is Bridget, Bee for short if you like."

Cass smiled up at the two new arrivals. " It is a beautiful night. I love fireworks, but I haven't really gotten to see any since I left home. Dad and I used to got to this little store in the country and buy them. Hey, Bee, I haven't seen you all day. Oh, not to be rude," she turned to the boy," I'm Cass by the way."
Still addressing Colin, " I know, it's not much of a night to look at the stars. Into Astronomy, huh? I could never really get into that class." She took out another firework and laid it on the ground. Once again, she took a lighter and lit the wick. A large, purple and red pinwheel exploded in the sky. She handed Bee the bag of fireworks and the lighter.
" Wanna give it a try?"

"Hey Cass and Bree, I've seen you both in the common room before… I'm Colin, jut a first year starting out at Hogwarts," he said with a friendly smile. He answered Cass' question with a bit of enthusiasm. "Well, so much is new to me in the magical world. I like all the classes I've taken so far, save for Potions. Professor Snape was so mean to everyone for some reason though nobody could guess why. I don’t think I've ever met such a grouchy person before," said young Colin, who hadn’t seen much of life yet.
"Sure, I’d love to," he said, sitting down beside the other two and watching Cass light another firework. It produced wonderful colours that lit up the sky as it exploded. "This reminds me so much of home," he said suddenly. "Do you girls miss being part of the other world? Oh, are you Muggle-borns anyway?" he said, realising he should have asked them that first.

Bee smiled as Cass started talking to her. "Oh, dont worry," she told Cass reasuringly. "Your right. I sort of skipped classes and stuff. I was having a bad day today..." She was going to add onto that when Cass lit another firework and it exploded into the air. "That is so cool!" Bee said as she watched the pinwheel wheel across the sky. When Cass handed her the bag of fireworks and the lighter she almost fell over. "Thanks so much, " she whispered in a grateful tone. " I only did this once before with my mom....."
While Bee was setting up the firework, the boy, Colin, was talking. She was trying not to be rude but she could hardly listen to him, she was so excited about the firework. But, just when Bee was going to light the firework, Colin asked if she and Cass were muggleborns. "Erm.....yeah, I am," Bee said in a cracked tone; she was remembering her bad day again. Deciding it was best to just light the firework to get her mind of the Slytherins, she lit it and watched another dragon go up into the sky.

Cass looked over at Bee in her timid response about being a muggle born. Cass looked at her, and said, " Bee, it's nothing to be ashamed of. You know, I didn't want anyone to know I was a muggle born, and I hardly led my life here my first two years. I had to tell one of my best friends, a Slytherin pure blood, that I was a mudblood. You know what, he respected me more for telling him. I'm proud of my heritage, even though other people hate me for it. I'm a mudblood and proud of it!"
She turned back to Colin, " And, yes, I do miss my old life, but it doesn't compare to what life here is going to give me. To think, I was a witch and ther was a chance that I was never going to know that. However, I do dread telling my friends what I really am. It's going to have to eventually happen. I don't want to lie to them for the rest of my life.
She looked at the two of them. " And ya'll? Do you miss what most muggles would consider normal?"

Bee smiled at Cass. She was glad that someone understood. "I guess...it's just that, I wish that I could have been, you know, better. Those Slytherins really bother me alot about my blood. Not all of them are bad, I guess. " Bee said. She really meant it. If one Slytherin could understand Cass, maybe one or two could understand Bee if she talked to them. She was still alittle surprise to hear that a Slytherin had respected Cass for saying she was a mudblood. To Bee that seemed alittle far-fetched,but she believed Cass. By now, Cass was talking to Colin about what she missed from the muggle world. When she asked about if they missed anything, it took a while for Bee to respond.
"Well, I do miss some things about the muggle world. Like, er..... I miss soccor. I use to play soccor alot. I miss my best friends back there and lots of other stuff too." She couldn't say she missed her dad; her dad had been really cruel to her....but, she missed her twin brother alittle. "I miss my brother, Perry, a little but otherwise that is it." Bee was going to say she missed her mom, but she had never told anyone that her mom was....that she had passed away. Only her muggle friends knew, but they were far away right now. She wanted to tell Cass and Colin so bad. Maybe it would let the pain go away. She looked up at them and tried to say something about her mom, but instead she said: "So, did you guys ever play any muggle sports?"

Post by Jordan Elizabeth Cortes on Apr 25, 2005 23:13:19 GMT
Jordan was out again. Outside. Working on her gymnastics. And her ice skating. Though, the second one was a bit harder considering she didn't have an ice skating rink anywhere around. She she worked with the jumps and twirls she was going to do for her routine. A triple axel here, a double here, a wally jump. Maybe even a spread eagle at the beginning. She wasn't quite sure yet. Which was why she was working on it now. Jordan didn't have any real big competitions coming up anytime soon, considering it was nearing summer and ice just didn't appear for too long.
Stealthily, Jordan raised her arms above her head and breathed in deeply. Ready to do her stuff. She then did two front flips, a right hand tuck, a back handspring, and just a simple round off. Her hands met the grass, and she pulled some up with her a few times as she continued to do gymnastics. Her heart beginning to beat rather ferousicly, and threatening to break through her chest. But, she held it in and kept going. When she finally came up for a rest, she was out of breath and had white spots in her sight. Jordan took a few breaths before deciding to call it a night of flips. She walked back towards the castle when she saw a firework go off in the sky. Her curiosity got the best of her. Would Dill be out? She walked towards the source of the fireworks.
When she reached her destination she saw three people, all younger than herself, and they all seemed to be well acqauinted. Or at least, friendly. She ran her fingers through her hair and continued towards them. All Gryffindors. All younger. Jordan smiled, that brilliant smile, and greeted them with a small but energetic wave, "Hello! Mind if I join you? The fireworks brought me over here, and I need some more fun tonight. I'm Jordan Lehane, Hufflepuff Fifth Year." She smiled again, this time even more, and awaited their response.

Cass smiled as Bee mentioned muggle sports. " No, I never really liked any muggle sports. I actually found my calling in Quidditch. Well, I can't say that for sure, I was a bit partial to basketball. I never wenta to any sporting events so I had to watch it on television. However, I can't watch that stuff on TV. It gets too boring. I used to watch it all the time before Dad died, but I only really did it for him." She wiped her brow since she had been sweating a bit.
Suddenly, a girl she didn't know introduced her. " Hi Jordan. I'm Cass. Yeah, I bought some fireworks in Hogsmeade the other day and I just couldn't wait to shoot them off." She handed the girl the bag. " Want to ignite one?"

Bee smiled at Cass. Her best friends in the muggle world had been just like Cass. They had never played any sports, but they always went to her games just to watch her and be supportive. "I was a huge soccer fan," she told Cass. "I use to watch it all the time. After a while, I decided to try it and I found out I was really good. " She looked up at the starless sky and added:"I use to be the star of the team....." She was lost in thought until a girl jerked her out of her odd little trance. She had introduced herself as Jordan and she seemed rather friendly. Bee noticed she had a very nice smile. Cass had already started talking to Jordan. Now, as she looked at Jordan, Bee saw that Jordan was already holding the firework bag in her hands that Cass had given her. Wow, she thought appreciatevly. Cass really knows how to break the ice. She looked at Jordan again. She was a Hufflepuff and she seemed to be a few years older than Bee and Cass. She decided it was time to introduce herself. "Hi! My name's Bridget, Bee for short. The fireworks drew me over here too. Of course, I wasn't really doing anything out here before I came over here with Cass. Believe me, those fireworks are great! You should ignite one. It's unbelievible!" She knew that that sounded a little too much; as if it was too great. But that was how the fireworks made her feel. GREAT! Those fireworks in the bag, brought all the good memories of her dad to her mind. She was really happy Cass had them.

Colin wondered why Cass kept using the word "mudblood". From what he understood it was a derogatory term that no-one used except the Slytherins. He knew there was a lot he didn't understand about the magical world so he didn’t say anything and just listened politely to what she to say. He hated the sound of the word though and was never going to use it himself. "I'm not ashamed either," he said, in a quiet voice that nevertheless was filled with conviction. "I heard that Hermione Ganger is one of the cleverest witches in the school and she's muggle-born. So what's there to be ashamed of anyway?" he said with a shrug.
"Well, the only sport I ever enjoyed is swimming and I can still do that in the magical world, so I don't miss that. Soccer's a lot of fun to watch though, you shouldn't stop playing if you're good you know, you don't want to lose your skills," said Colin. He reverted to their former topic after thinking about how he felt. "Until two days ago I didn't miss anything about the muggle world but then these two girls from Ravenclaw explained to me about the war and You-Know-Who and suddenly everything didn’t seem so exciting any more," said Colin looking down. He turned to Bee wondering if he understood her correctly. He was happy the way he was and he didn’t want his parents to be anything other than what they were. "So you think you might have been happier if you had magical parents?" he asked.
A girl much older than Colin joined them and Cass introduced herself to her and asked her if she would like to light a firework. Colin wasn't a shy person but he was rather in awe of all the older students at Hogwarts who could do a lot of magic he couldn't. He smiled at her. "I'm Colin," he said, and then turned to Bee so he could hear the answer to his question.

She listened to everthing Colin had to say. He didn't seem very happy that Cass had been using the word mudblood. Personally, Bee didn't like it much either. She frowned inwardly, but she didn't want anyone to see. She perked up when Colin asked her a question. "Well, I guess I could have liked it here better if I did have a magical...er...." Bee didn't know what to say. Then, she knew it was time to at least say something truthful. "I meant, I kinda wish I had a magical parent. It would have been a lot nicer without those Slytherins crawling up your back. If you know what I mean."She said all this quietly, as if she was telling a secret. But it wasn't a secret to some people. Her mom had died a few days before she had gotten her letter from Hogwarts. So her mother had never known. It had broken Bee's heart, but she couldn't control that. She smiled at Colin. Then she asked, "What about you all? Would you be happier if your parents were witches and wizards?" This question was for everyone and she waited for the answers.

Cass sat back as she thought about the question at hand. " No, I don't think would want my Mom any different. Granted, it would make life easier, but that would be no fun." She smiled at everyone.
She turned to Bee. " I wouldn't worry about the Slytherins. They are going to be on your back whether your half blood, pure blood, or muggle born. They are all about stabbing as many people in the back as possible." She said all of this with a smile on her face, not wanting to let them know how upset she was about the stuff with Caiest and Pyro.

Bee listened to Cass' reply. It soothed her a little, but not alot. Slytherins always seemed to be stabbing people in the back, just like what Cass said. But wouldn't they let off a little if she was a pure blood? Just a little. That would help, but Bee knew Cass was right. Slytherins were always causing trouble. Always. When she looked at Cass, Cass' smile seemed a little forced. Bee wondered what was wrong, but she didn't push it. She herself, never liked being questioned. Instead she said: "Yeah, your right. I should just ignore those Slytherins. They just aren't worth it." She glanced at Cass and then looked at the others, as if excpecting one of them to talk.
