Kat put a scarf around the neck of the snowman she had just made and stepped back to give the snowman final look-over.
Feeling quite satisfied with the outcome, Kat fished around her pocket to find the piece of parchment she had wrote a charm on. It was a fairly easy charm actually, as they had learned it class just a couple of days ago. And this morning after seeing the fallen snow during her morning jog this idea had hit her.
Kat pointed her wand to the snowman and muttered the spell, waiting to see if it worked. Obviously it did as the snowman suddenly bowed, grabbed a hand-ful of snow and hurled it in Kat’s direction.
Having been prepared for this Kat ducked the snowball and trotted out of the reach, so the snowman stilled once again. At least until someone would go close enough to it again, when it would throw a snowball at the poor suspect.

Cleo was up early that morning as an owl from her brothers had waken her annoyingly early. Seeing the ground covered with snow, she had dressed quickly and practically run outside, almost stepping on mrs .Norris’s tail on her way out.
After Cleo had reached the clear snow outside she just wondered around a little, enjoying the brisk winter morning. Suddenly she saw another girl making a snow-man and curiously watched as the girl charmed the snow-man to throw snow-balls.
The idea brought a bright smile on Cleo’s lips and she made her way towards the girl. “Nice snow-man,” Cleo grinned at the other girl falling into step with her, ”Great idea too. I’m Cleo.”
Kat turned and looked at the taller girl walking next to her and smiling brightly at her, showing pearly teeth. “Thanks,” Kat answered tilting her head to the side and glancing at the snow-man, “I’ll take it from your comment you won’t rat on me. I’m Kat. Ravenclaw. First year.”
“The castle has been surprisingly dull lately,” Kat shrugged as the girls continued walking towards the lake, “The snow-man isn’t much, but at least it’s a start till I can think of something better.”
“I hope you mind if I join you?” Cleo offered, deciding she quite liked the other girl, “I’ve been bored to hell as well. This school certainly needs something to liven it up.”
“Oh look – someone is coming!” Cleo noticed someone exciting the school and stopped and turned half-way as the figure approached the normal looking snow-man, “Did you also bring a camera should someone get caught in the snow-attack? It might give you some great pictures.”
“Oh, I forgot the camera,” Kat hit her forehead at Cleo’s words stopping and turning halfway as well, “And of course you are welcome to join me in some stunt. It’s not nearly as one to try to pull one alone.”
Both girls laughed as the student, who had left the school walked too close to the snow-man and got a snowball at the back of his or hers head – the girls were too far too see exactly who the students was.
“Well, at least it works. And if anyone is really that set on finding out it was me, who built it – I left my scarf around the snow-man’s neck,” Kat laughed as she walked closer to the edge of the lake, which here was a little higher on the water, creating kind of a little cliff, “So what do you think? What is worth of pulling off?”
“Magic and all this is great and all, but with all the homework and living at your school – you need some surprises along the way,” Kat sighed staring at the lake, which still wasn’t frozen.

“I certainly know what you mean,” Cleo grinned looking at the lake and then back at the other girl. She knew Flitfick had taught her some advanced warming spell – she had seen the girl practicing it while she was in detention, so they hadn’t talked then though.
Cleo got a wicked idea and glancing back at the now still snowman, hoped that Kat wouldn’t hex her for what she was about to do.
“You know – we should really think about what kind of stunt to pull,” Cleo said stepping next to Kat and slowly counting to three in her mind. Cleo smiled at Kat and pushed her into the water with a loud splash echoing back.
“Sorry, couldn’t resist myself!” Cleo smirked crouching down and trying to get a good look at Kat’s face, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to get you mad. I just…guess I just thought it would be funny. You may hex me or report me though, if you want. But do put that warming charm Flitfick taught you on, before you freeze.”
Kat crossed her fingers and closed her eyes, waiting for whatever punishment Kat would cast upon her. But still she couldn’t help holding back some giggles, as she remembered all the times her brothers had done this to her.

Kat yelped as Cleo pushed her into the lake – it was freezing this time of year, so she quickly put the heating spell Cleo mentioned on her, wondering how she might have known it.
But her brother had done it to her often enough, so Kat pointed her wand to Cleo and muttered the heating spell and then a spell, which brought the other girl in the lake with as loud splash. “That certainly woke me up effectively!” Kat laughed brushing her wet hair away from her face, “Luckily my brother has done this to me often enough, so it doesn’t bother me anymore.”
“So – what do you say – friends?” Kat held out her hand as Cleo had surfaced the water again and was more-or-less stably floating in the water next to Kat.
