Pansy stormed down the stairs towards the Great Hall. Here and there stupid little kids were in her way, with little regard for rules, she went out of her way to walk into the little students despite their attempts to avoid her. As she crossed the main lobby by the Great Hall she approached the large door that led to the school grounds, a few little Gryffindors walked inside. A grin grew across her face as she walked up to the young girls and without a second thought she shoved the smallest one as hard as she could straight into the wooden door itself. As she brushed past the other two girls Pansy turned to them, “WHAT!?” she yelled while glaring at the other two Gryffindors, daring them to say something to her. Wisely enough the two girls took the third and went on their way to the Great Hall. It was never wise to annoy Pansy, but this week it was an especially bad idea. Her parents had set forth a new set of “rules” to which she needed to live by, and on top of the list was that she was to attend “every” class or she wouldn’t get her weekly allowance of 15 galleons. The allowance itself was an outrage but having to earn it had caused half of the Slytherin common room’s furniture to be smashed to bits in one of Pansy’s patented explosions.
This was not the reason that Pansy was angry today, it was actually far from it. Today in the morning mail she had received another owl from her parents. In this owl her parents disclosed to her that they felt it would be in Pansy’s best interest if she were to get a job after she graduated instead of laying around doing nothing. After burning the letter to ashes and cursing loudly, Pansy had stormed out of the Great Hall and spent a good hour walking around just daring someone to bother her. While walking she conspired against her parents, she’d prove them wrong, she’d get a job simply to spite them and show them that she could work. As she walked she thought of what she could do, she hated working with poor people so she couldn’t do anything in Diagon Alley, she hated muggles and muggle borns so most jobs in the Ministry were out also. As she thought about pure blooded things her mind quickly came to a conclusion, dragons! Dragons were pure blooded creatures, she could work with dragons, it must not be that difficult if one of the stupid Weasleys could do it.
With new found direction in her life Pansy had decided it was best to go to the library and get a book so she could read up on dragons. Upon entering the library she stood at the doorway and peered around. It was huge and she had no idea where to look since she couldn’t remember the last time she’d been in the library to actually get a book. Many times she’d follow a victim in and then pounce on them in a back aisle, but it was beyond her memory when she last entered in search of a book. Not wanting to ask for help, Pansy instead had just walked around aimlessly looking at the book titles in a vain attempt to find a dragon book. Fifteen minutes later and a couple aisles down, Pansy gave up her search and turned to leave. As she walked past tables she spotted a picture in an open book of a dragon! Walking over to the table Pansy grabbed it despite the complaints from the little Ravenclaw boy. “that’s my book!” he whined, Pansy simply shook her head “no, it was your book, it’s mine now!” As she took the book and walked away the boy followed her complaining, “I checked it out, Madam Pince will get mad at me if I don’t return it…” Turning to face the boy, Pansy grinned at him, “oh well” she said with a laugh and proceeded to leave the library with her new book in her hands.
Now as Pansy walked across the green lawn she headed towards the lake and a clump of trees that seemed unoccupied. Somewhere with few people would be the best place for her to read, she didn’t want to look like that know it all Granger and be seen reading. Throwing her bag down she sat down and took the dragon book from her bag. Opening it she turned to the first page and was greeted by several paragraphs. As she flipped through the pages she was greeted by more and more text. Finally when she skipped ahead to page 47 she found the first picture. “This is a stupid book!” Pansy thought as she flipped through and found only about half a dozen pictures in the entire book, what good was a book if it had no illustrations to look at! As she flipped through it some more she tore several pages from book by accident. Looking at the torn pages she shrugged and simply ripped the pages entirely from the book and threw them over her shoulder into a nearby shrub. Within a minute Pansy had totally given up on the book and slammed it shut. Her eyes scanned the scenery towards the lake where she saw a few ducks resting on the sandy beach. Grinning at the ducks, Pansy picked up the book and flung it over towards the ducks. However in her mood her aim was poor and the book flew over the ducks and landed in the lake with a loud “SPLAT!” Crossing her arms across her chest, Pansy glared at the stupid book as it slowly began to sink into the dark mud. With her anger building up once more, Pansy remained glaring at the lake until she heard someone, some foolish girl had walked up to her. Gritting her teeth, Pansy turned to see who dared to interrupt her.
