The sun dipped lower in the sky and it took on a sort of pink appearance. Mary shut her book upon seeing this and packed up her bag. Click, click, click went the heels of her black boots on the library floor as she walked up to the front counter. Handing the book she had been reading to Madam Pince Mary tapped her foot on the floor impatiently. Upon noticing the look of exasperation being thrown her way by a small group of Gryffs Mary scowled at them and let that be that. Hurrying down the halls at break neck speed Mary rushed toward the common room; she had to get ready. She didn’t know what she was going to do tonight but she was determined this evening would not be wasted with silly homework or conversation with insolent fools. She changed into a comfortable pair of navy blue muggle jeans and a red silk v-neck shirt. From there she grabbed a red leather purse and pair of red boots and her a warm black cloak; just perfect for a spring’s evening out. Book in her purse Mary headed out to the courtyard, leaving a note on her vanity mirror so her roommates knew not to expect her until late but they were more than welcome to join her should they feel so inclined. From there she left the room without another glance around until she reached her destination. Under a tree in the courtyard was a bench from which you could turn your head and see hundreds of stars or just look up and watch the leaves blow. It was still to bright out for stars though; that was why Mary had brought her book. She removed the page marker while tucking her legs in under her and allowing her mind to slip into the world of fantasy.

Maddie was in the common room, studying for a huge Charms test coming up. Unfortunitly, she hadn't been that good at it lately and decided to start studying more often. She usually didn't study, that was why. She then decided to stop and go look for some fun, since this was not at all.
She went up to the girls' dorm, her bag in hand. She threw her bag down on her bed and noticed a note from Mary on the vanity. "Hey," she said. "What the heck? That could be fun."
Since she was going outside, she decided to change into something more comfortable. She went over to her trunk, that she had tranfered into a small dresser, so it had easier axcess, and searched for something cute, comfortable, but not too perky or ugly. She put on a dark green, strapless top, and a faded blue jean mini skirt. She then looked into the mirror, and said to herself, "Perfect."
She headed outside, to the courtyard. It was a beautiful day out, and the courtyard was always so pretty during this time of day, just before sunset. She walked around for a while and noticed other students out, enjoying the weather. She soon spotted Mary. She looked as though she was reading so Maddie moved up closer and greeted her by saying, "Hey." not too loudly or too softly, careful not to suprise her, if she was kind of out of it, since she didn't seem like she was paying attention.

All good things must end and that includes Mary’s short stint in the land that was that story for the evening. One of her roommates, Maddie, arrived shortly so Mary closed her book and looked up with a smile. “Hey, I guess you found my note. Glad to see someone was willing to come play. So many Slytherins afraid of a little curfew honestly, its insane. We are supposed to be the house who will do what we want and consequences be damned but… I don’t think the older students are wrong when they proclaim loudly that things have changed for the worse. Not that I think we should be a house filled to the brim of bullies but a little house pride would be nice; maybe following SOME of what we used to stand for. Not all that blood whatever stuff my mother preaches but… you know what I mean? You did know I was here when you came right?” Mary babbled happily; glad someone who at least appeared thus far to have a brain had joined her. Not that she could think of a roommate she would have grimaced at but she wasn’t in the mood to deal with people from other houses for some reason. Besides Dana, Charlie, and Kam of course, they were welcome in her books most any time.
“So do you have any ideas as to what we can do tonight? I really had no plans beyond making sure this evening was not wasted. Too many nights are spent doing nothing fun; we are young we need some excitement don’t you agree?” Mary asked happily standing up ready to hop to any place that seemed in the least bit entertaining.

After Maddie had awknowledged Mary that she was there, Mary greeted her as well. Maddie smiled slightly, and took a seat on the bench next to her. Mary then made a few comments about how a lot of the Slytherins these days, were afraid of a little curfew. Maddie lauged a little, because she was right. She was also right about how most Slytherins weren't really standing for their house was supposed to be about, and that we should have more house pride. "True." Maddie agreed.
Then Mary asked if Maddie had known where she was when Maddie came. Mary also seemed happy. Of course Maddie didn't really know exactly where she was, but she had had a pretty good idea. Maddie had seen her there a couple of times. "Yeah." she replied.
She then asked what they should do that night. "I don't know..." she replied honestly. "What do you think? Take a walk, whatever."

"Wow real talkative you are tonight." Mary said with a cocked eyebrow after receiving several one word answerers from Maddie. 'Oh well, hopefully she will loosen up a bit as the night progresses.' she thought. She spun around in a full circle as Maddie suggested a walk before looking at her roommate. "Walk sounds like a good start. Maybe we can find something to do or maybe just a fascinating topic of conversation on our way." She stated happily sending a small wink at Maddie; she really was in a fabulous mood. Who could blame her? She was out for an evening of fun again, it had been much too long since her last. She didn't even want to think of the last time she had purposely been out after curfew considering it made her feel pathetic knowing there had been snow on the ground and she was not able to recall when it was. Perhaps it was even that time there was the duel and she ended up in the hospital wing. That would be horrible, that seemed an eternity ago. 'No' she thought 'that can't be it considering the snow was melting when Mack and I meet up with that Gryffindor and Cassandra. Yes that was most definitely afterward though that walk with Mack and Pyro was likely the last time. How pathetic am I?'
"Which direction should we turn?" Mary asked looking around. There was the gate they could walk out onto the grounds. But there weren't many options that way considering they had to stay away from the Oaf's shack and the school. The only real option on the grounds would be to head the direction of the forest. Or they could turn left from where they were now and follow the paths closest to the school which had more gardens and flowers and the vegetable patch. Or they could go right to part of the courtyard with more trees and things. Or they could turn behind them and go through the center paths which was where they had the majority of the benches set up for people to sit and chat and so to reflect the social atmosphere most fountains were congregated there though they were shut off right then considering nobody was supposed to be out there.
"So did you hear the rumours about Charms tomorrow? Apparently we will be playing with fire. That should be enjoyable eh? I'm sure Pyro will get a bang out of that; aptly named he was let me tell you. Once he even burnt a Gryffindor scarf Lord knows why. Kris was none to pleased let me tell you. At least we got that wand back to it's proper owner before Pyro could destroy that as well. That was an odd evening come to think about it. Kris and Pyro were discussing muggle soap operas of all things. I swear I will force them to sit through one when we visit Kris in Rome this summer though. Only problem is I don't speak a word of Italian; do you? Though I suppose they will have some English programming shouldn't they? I mean they are part of the EU..." Mary babbled waiting to follow Maddie's lead.

Mary made a comment that Maddie wasn't really that talkative tonight, and Maddie laughed slightly. Sometimes, she wasn't that talkative at the beginning of the evening. Then, Mary agreed with her take a walk idea and asked which way they should go. Maddie thought about the choices and went over them quickly in her head. Well, they could go by the forest, but then again, that might not have been they good of an idea. So, right was the only other choice that sounded good to her at the moment. "How 'bout... that way?" she said, pointing to the right with her thumb.
Then Mary said something about that tomorrow in Charms, they were going to be playing with fire. 'Coolio.' she thought. 'Sounds a lot better than any of the other classes that we've had, for sure.' Mary then said that Pyro would probably get a kick out of it, yep, he probably would.
Then, Mary said that Kris and Pyro were once talking about muggle soap operas. 'Wish I could've been there for that.' Maddie thought, with a mental laugh. Maddie wasn't really fond of Kris, just that they got off on the wrong side, when they met. Oh well, it still would've been funny to hear that. She that she should make Kris sit through one when she sees him over the summer in Rome. "Bet he'll just love that." Maddie said sarcastically. She also said that she didn't know how to speak Italian, asked if Maddie thought they would have an English program there. "I don't know..." she replied with a shrug. "Never been there. But, if they are part of it, then they probably will."
After Mary was finished talking, Maddie stood up and walked a couple feet a head of her. "Come on." she urged.

Mary followed a few steps after Maddie beyond frustrated by the fact none of her conversation topics seemed "good enough" for Maddie and yet she wasn't presenting any of her own. She decided to hold her tongue though - at least for awhile and maybe cut the night short if things remained so dry. They were headed toward the part of the courtyard with the thick of the trees and benches and Mary smirked to herself. "So Maddie, any big plans for the summer?" Mary asked as she continued to follow just behind Maddie.

Mary asked if Maddie had any plans for the summer, and Maddie shrugged. "Not really..." she replied. "I was actually planning on going somewhere with someone, but it didn't really work out..." she trailed off once again.
Maddie actually hadn't given it much thought. She supposed that she would do what she usually did, sleep in, play Quidditch with herself, or sometimes, her sister, in the backyard, and take a few stops to Diagon Alley every now and then. "Really, I think I am planning to go somewhere, not sure yet, but I'd really like to get away from my family for a while. They'll probably send me somewhere where we have a far off relative or something, but it would be a lot better than staying with them all summer. My family is great... sometimes... but I really can't stand them for very long. Anyway, I suppose that I can't really ask you the same, since you've already told me, and now I'm probably talking too much so..." she trailed off yet again, waiting to see if Mary would say anything. Maddie talked a lot sometimes, and she knew that she got a bit obnoxious at times as well.

Mary laughed as Maddie mentioned talking too much. “Honestly, there is little way to talk too much. Well for a Slyth anyways. Some of those Huffles and Gryffs let me tell you… the moment they open their mouths they are talking too much. If you have nothing of any worth to say I think you should keep your mouth closed you know? But whatever – at least I barely have to put up with them. Not that I have anything against Hufflepuffs in general though… But you know what I mean, right?” Mary babbled before remembering that Maddie had been talking about her family. “I know just what you mean about the getting away from family thing though my family are not great any of the time. We usually spend our breaks away on vacation so I will disappear and not have to deal with them but this year… It is going to drive me crazy being cooped up with them. At least I am allowed to stay at our other properties though – that’s God sent. Only problem is I will have to bring Jeremy along…”

Maddie giggled a bit when Mary said that for Hufflepffs and Gryffindors, just when they open up their mouths, they are already talking too much. It actually was pretty true, well, at least for the ones that Maddie had met. The ones that she had met were way too hyper and cheerful. She nodded her head in agreement at a few more things that Mary had said.
Maddie listened to Mary talk about her family as well, and she nodded her head at a few things that she said there as well. Then Mary mentioned something about a person name Jeremy. Maddie had remembered hearing her talk about that person a few times before, but she had either not really payed attention to what she was saying, or just forgot, because that name wasn't ringing any bells inside Maddie's head. "Jeremy..." she repeated. "The name sounds familiar, but I'm drawing a blank. Who is he?"

Mary grimaced as Maddie asked about Jeremy. She took a seat on a nearby bench and began spinning a long stand of red hair around her right index finger. "Jeremy is my cousin. He is finishing up his fourth year at Durmstang now and will be spending the summer at Evans Manor - and I have been charged with keeping him occupied. Even worse - I was originally going to get the first two weeks with Kris and he would come after but everything got all screwed up and now he will be there as soon as Pyro and I get home and my trip to Rome will be later. At least it will serve as a reprieve though right? His parents want him to get to know his English family because the Evans' derive from here and my parents want me to become the "perfect pureblood enthusiast" and think spending time with him will help that." Mary explained, playing with her hair the whole time.
