The sun was leaking into the dormitory, blinding Mack through her eye-lids. The 14 year old groaned, and stuck her head under her pillow; trying to hide from the light of day. Then the birds started chirping; "Numoimay." Mack mumbled a word that wasn't even a word. She sighed and pushed back her blankets- suddenly overwhelmed by cold. She hated mornings. Mack hated mornings almost as much as she hated afternoons, but not quite as much. Afternoons were by far the worst- just because by then the volume of the chatter of mudblood and filth was on high. "They sound like bloody chipmunks..." Mack finished her thoughts aloud and stood up from her bed.
After she stretched and changed; she headed to the common room. It wasn't crowded, nor was it completely deserted, it was just at a decent number- around 3 or 4 students. That didn't stop the portraits from being noisey though. Mack grabbed an apple from a bowl on a table, and headed towards the portrait hole. As it swung open she stepped through and headed up the flights of stairs towards the entrance hall. She wasn't going to bother with breakfast; the apple would fill her until lunch. Mack pondered whether or not to enter the Student Lounge; she didn't have the fondest of memories in there. Then there was the Grounds, but bad memories there too. The courtyard didn't have any good memories either, but it was the best thing yet.
She bit into her apple and headed towards the Courtyard. The courtyard was a beautiful place, with a fountain and flowers. Mack liked it better at night when it was nearly deserted. She could already hear the annoying chit-chatter of those of unworthy blood, it was drilling into her head like a bullet to the temple. Why did I choose the Courtyard again? Oh yeah, I'm an idiot. Mack thought as she walked out into the sun. Well as long as I'm here, might as well get something out of it. She took out her wand as she sat down and summoned her sketchbook and pencils. When they appeared, she began to draw a little girl who was reading a book under a tree. 5 minutes into her drawing, a shadow moved over her sketchpad and she looked up to see who it was. "Oh, you. I'm afraid there aren't any lakes to launch me into here." She told the older Slytherin with a smirk.

“I’m done,” Kris said calmly stepping onto the door of McGoangall’s office. The Head of Gryffindor house stared at him sternly and nodded, dismissing Kris from his detention. It was still very early morning, but McGonagall had ran into Kris in the kitchens and had dragged him off to detention. Kris wasn’t very seriously bother though – at least he got today’s detention out of the way and McGonagall was annoying old prune, but she was fair.
Not feeling like going to the common room Kris moved to the courtyard and smirked seeing Mackenzie there. She and Kris weren’t exactly friends nor even good acquaintances. But they had talked before. Actually Kris had thrown her into the lake. Grinning Kris made his way over. No one else worthy was up yet anyways and annoying her might be fun. Blocking the sun Kris grinned at Mack’s greeting. “But in the remembrance of good old days I almost have the obligation of throwing you into the lake,” Kris grinned and looked up, “Well, there is a fountain here. Fancy a swim there?”
Kris didn’t make any move to throw her into it and plopped down on the bench next to her instead. Pulling the notebook she was holding with a quick move Kris eyed the picture of the girl reading before started to flick through the pages. Having looked at all the drawing there Kris handed the sketchbook back: “You’re rather good. Natural talent or lessons? And may I inquire what has wakened you so early on this gorgeous day, my dear Mackie-girl?” Kris was in rather good mood and ddn’t bother to hide it. And if Mack was irritated and snapped at him – well, that was hlf the fun usually!

Mack looked up at Kris through the corner of her eye, "I'll take a rain-check." She said sarcastically. She wasn't at all expecting him to sit down beside her; in fact she had been waiting for the cool water of the fountain, so she was quite surprised; but didn't let it show on her face. Mack was good at hiding emotions; fright, surprise, hurt, and so many others that she was good at masking. It was a trick she had learned from her father- one of the only good things.
As she was starting to close her sketchbook- it was taken from her hands. "Hey! That's personal!" Mack tried to get it back but he was already looking through it, so she just decided to give up. Mack sighed and took it back when it was given to her, "Neither, actually, years of being bored in classes. Hey, at least they are good for one thing, who knew?" Mack closed it and set it on the other side of her with her pencils. She remembered the last encounter she had had with Kris, it wasn't at all pleasant- or at least it could have been better. Mack was just flad she didn't have the splitting headache that she had that day. The only good thing that came from that day was Mack hadn't drank another drop of alcohol.
She shook her head lightly, shaking herself from her reverie and looked at Kris with an upraised eyebrow, "Mackie-girl? Does that mean I can give you a nickname you can hate or learn to hate? Well, to answer your question, the sun. It woke me up. Then the birds. Now I'm here. So far it's been a very eventful morning." The last part had sarcasm in it, and Mack wasn't bothering to make an effort for a better reply. She blinked at the sun; "Even without the hangover, it still blinds me."

Kris grinned: “Well, I’ll be sure to keep it in mind and offer you the swim some other day then. And what’s wrong with Mackie-girl? ‘Mack’ is too plain, Mackenzie to long and formal. Friends are supposed to have nick-names.” Kris placed one hand over his heart and the other onto his forehead and gasped in mock-horror: “Or don’t you count me as your friend? You are breaking my heart here!”
Smirking pleasantly – was it even possible to smirk pleasantly? Even if it isn’t, Kris made a very good tryout at smirking pleasantly: “And sure, give me a nick-name. Something original please.” Listening to Mack complain about the sun Kris took the sunglasses that were hanging from the collar of his black T-shirt and handed them to Mack with a smirk: “Honestly, if you keep going on like that, I’ll start to believe you have a thing for my sun-glasses. Soon you’ll be wearing them more often than I.”
Looking at the birds Kris pondered for a moment: “As for the birds – ever thought of casting a noise-blocking spell on your dormitory window? Don’t actually – otherwise I can’t annoy you in the mornings. Even though I could always kidnap you in the mornings. Being dropped into the Hogwarts lake from a broom might be a rather unique wake up call, don’t you think?”

"I'm breaking your heart? Then my life goal has been completed." Mack put a hand to her cheek and had a look of accomplishment in her eyes, with a grin- which soon broke into a large smile. "Original name, eh? I'll have to get back to you on that."
Mack accepted the sunglasses and put them on, striking a pose; "Well, you know, they look so much better on me anyway." She touched the end of the glasses of the piece that went on the ear and tapped it down gently- causing the glasses to move up and down. Why is it that everytime I see him I end up taking a pair of his sunglasses? Maybe I should start a collection... Mack grinned; "Two pairs so far, wonder how far I can go before you run out or just stop giving me pairs. Not that I'm not grateful for your generousity."
She swung her legs back and forth, scraping the ground of the cobblestoned area and listened to Kris say something about a noise-blocking spell and a wake up call in the lake. Mack tilted her head at this, "I don't know, I've never woken up in the lake before. I've woken up in the woods, in a field, in a different house, but not a lake." She put her hand to her heart this time and said, "But please; don't promise you'll give me a wake-up call in a lake if you aren't going to hold true to it. You would break my heart."

Kris turned on a full pout and pulled his ears down: “Get back to me? OH, but I wanted to hear what nick-name you are giving me. How will I go on, not knowing it?” Kris laughed watching Mack post with his sun-glasses: “I myself loose about a pair or two in a month by throwing them somewhere. Meaning that I’m sent 4 pairs of sunglasses every mind with the cost being extracted from my bank-account. So in time you might get a rather big collection.”
Kris smiled and stretched his legs out in front of him crossing them at his ankles: “Oh, I’ll be sure to wake you then. A pretty lady like you, Mackie-girl, should never be left heart-broken. And should the window be closed I can always accio you from the common room. I hope you don’t come with the door or your bed then though. The bed would be a bit too heavy for me to catch, m’dear, however much I adore you.”

"Yes, get back to you. If you didn't want an original name I could call you Mr. Sunshine, but that isn't very original now is it?" Mack raised her eyebrow at Kris and smiled before shaking her head and tapping her fingers against the bench, "Good, because I plan on having a rather large collection of your sunglasses. So large of a collection in fact I could have 3 for ever day of the week, maybe even more!" Mack exclaimed with a glimmer of laughter in her eyes.
"Oh, I'm sure you have a group of friends who could help you catch me and my falling bed, if not then I shall most definitely never return from the water. Or maybe you shouldn't accio me, but simply give me a warning before. But then again that would ruin the element of surprise. Now, there's a perdicament." Mack laughed lightly and shook her head with a roll of her eyes, she couldn't believe she was having this conversation.
"So we have established as to why I was out on such a 'gorgeous' day. Why are you? Are you one of those deeply sensitive guys who watches the sun-rise or are you one of the bad boys who have early morning detention with Filch because you did something that wasn't allowed?" Mack asked with another raise of her eyebrows.

“Mr. Sunshine? No, not very original, even though it does go well with my bubbly and helpful personality. I don’t have a clue how some people can be so insensitive and not understand it,” Kris sniffled and closed his eyes, “So you want at least 21 pairs of my sunglasses. Some more – oh, let’s round it up to 30. And after you have received all the sunglasses, what are you going to transfer your affection over? So I would have a fair warning and start stocking up whatever it would be?”
“And I don’t think I’m generous enough to invite my friends to help catch your bed. How could I ever share the view of you first thing in the morning,” opening his eyes, Kris shifted himself and leaned hi head on Mack’s shoulder while giving a good imitation of fluttering his eye-lashes, “the most glorious view of the world.” Kris grinned – it wasn’t very often that he got into as playful mood as he was in now. And it was even rarer that people he came along with the game. Neither of them took it seriously now, which was a positive side as well.
Kris grinned: “Would you believe me, if I said that I actually was watching the sunrise this morning? From the top of the Western Tower. Unfortunately ran into McGonagall on my way back and did end up in an early morning detention. Should the impossible ever happen and I go broke, then I could always make a fortune of cleaning floors. Most female teachers take pleasure of having me clean the floor for some reason. Detention I had for sneaking off to Hogsmead for a night to a date.”

"Oh yes, your helpful personality. I would have been an alcoholic if it wasn't for that delightful launch into the lake, I do suppose I owe you a thank you. Mr. Sunshine also suits the fact that you always have sunglasses with you- I wouldn't be surprised if you carried them around at night." Mack replied with a smirk and another swing of her feet back and forth. "And I couldn't possibly collect anything besides sunglasses. Our love is one of purity and it shall never be betrayed, unless- you start wearing hats. Then poor sunglasses will have to move on. I tend to like hats more than sunglasses." Mack explained with a nod.
Mack giggled when he layed his head on her shoulder and fluttered his eyelashes, she rolled her eyes and said; "No, you would enjoy seeing me plumet to the bottom of the lake- screaming at the top of my lungs; instead of catching me. Mr. Sunshine indeed." When he said something about the most glorious view in the world, Mack shook her head;"How can that be possible when you are the most glorious view in the world? There very well can't be two, now can there?"
Mack was rather surprised when she could actually see him watching the sun-rise, for some reason it didn't come as a shock to her that he could appreciate such beauty. "Truth? Yes, I would. I mean- senstivity is most definitely the next personality trait next to bubbly and helpful." Then he said something about sneaking off to Hogsmeade for a late night date, Mack rolled her eyes- "Why can't boys have dates during the day? And was it worth the detention, or was the date a let down?"

“Of course I don’t carry sunglasses around at night. I sleep at night and the sunglasses are safely covering my eyes. Or on the pillow next to me,” Kris stretched his back and sent Mack an unbelieving glance, “How could you possible not know that?” Raising his wand Kris pointed it towards the castle: “Accio hat.” Catching the black cowboy-hat that flew into his hand Kris put it onto Mack’s head, “My legal guardians idea of a joke. She sent it to me filled with… er…first-aid stuff. Wearing sunglasses doesn’t bother wearing hats.”
Kris thought about Mack’s words about the most gorgeous view for a few moments. Well, since they were already on the easy-going tone – what did he have to loose. Turning Kris placed his hand on Mack’s lap and threw his legs over the armrest while winking at Mack: “You know, you are right, Mackie-girl. I am gorgeous. But you get the second place. Just didn’t want to seem vain and point myself out first. But aren’t you just the luckiest girl – you can admire me here for as much as you wish.” Kris fell silent recalling the date before smiling smugly: “Well, the date lasted the night, so it wasn’t a total disappointment. Don’t thin I’ll be seeing her more though. Besides night adds some mystic, some exoticness to the date. You should try it sometimes. Or have you tried it already?”

"Why am I not surprised?" Mack asked with a raise of her eyebrow as he said he slept with the sunglasses on or by his pillow. When he summoned a cowboy hat, Mack nearly burst out laughing. The hat was placed on her head, and she smiled; "I look good in cowboy hats- its the baseball caps that give me hat hair." She said as she fiddled with the hat. She took it off and rolled it down her arm before flipping her wrist and sending it soaring into the air, only to land on her head again.
"Oh, yes, you are so much more gorgeous than I could ever be. I feel all insecure when I'm around you because I know I can never be nearly as gorgeous as you. And I am rather lucky that I get to admire your beauty for the time being. But do keep in mind, beauty doesn't last forever." She smiled a kind reassuring smile and patted his head before pulling the the brim of the hat over her eyes- which was kind of hard because of the sunglasses.
"If I dated, then I suppose I could try a night date. But I don't go out- so there isn't a possibility there. I find it odd though, seeing as I am the second most gorgeous person in the world- that no one would want to take me out for a night in Hogsmeade. You would think it was something that happened often." Mack replied with a grin.

Kris patted Mack’s knee comfortingly: “Now, don’t worry. I will never blame for not being as amazingly gorgeous as I am. Couldn’t demand the impossible from you now, could I Mackie-girl?” Starting to hum absent-mindedly: “Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you. Well, I’m a wizard, so I have a much longer life-span than a regular human so my looks will last longer as well. I would flip my adoring black locks now to prove my point, except I don’t have locks.”
Kris opened a curious eye and looked at Mack curiously. Kris had had dates in his third year and so did a lot of other people. Mack didn’t look half that bad, so it did make Kris a bit curious. There would be time for that later though. “Well, your beauty – you are second best after all – just dazzles all the guys, so they swallow their tongues and can’t make one normal word in your presence, ergo being unable to ask you out. But remember my words about a night date for the time when you will start dating. How do you pass time otherwise anyway? Dream of my sunglasses?”

Mack rolled her eyes and tried not to smile, but it was impossible. She hadn't expected anything remotely interesting to happen today- much less this. At this thought, Mack finished off her apple and threw it in a near-by trash bin. When Kris started humming she laughed, and took out her wand- "I can fix that." She said. Mack did different experiments with her hair. Every now and then she would have green highlights, or silver ones. She even magically dyed her ends silver once. But she also knew how to make hair grow or put itself up. For Kris, she tapped his head and his hair began to grow, "There. Oh, don't worry Krissy Boo, they are cuttable." She told him with a giggle.
When he said boys didn't ask her out because of her beauty, Mack scoffed and waved the thought away as if it were nothing- "I wish that were the reason. Oh, yes, I pass the time away by dreaming of your sunglasses, because they are the only love for me." She put both hands to her heart and sighed as if in deep love. The act was ruined by her laughter and a shake of her head, "No. I spend most of my time with Jack and his little sister. Or if I'm not with them- I'm arguing with a Gryff or a Ravenclaw. Both of those houses seem to really hate me lately. The nights do get lonely at times- but I manage by the thought of waking up to your sunglasses on my vanity."

Kris already had longer hair, that always made McGonagall frown at him, as he kept wearing them tied together in the nape of his neck. But now Mack made them grow longer. Picking up one strand of his hair Kris peered at it thoughtfully. The longer hair didn’t really bother him – hair could always be cut with magic as well. “What no flowers to be braided into my hair? What kind of a lousy worshipper are you? There should be a pile of sacrifices at my feet for me to choose from! And you don’t even bother to bring me a crown of flowers?”
“Who is Jack?” Kris asked peering at Mack curiously, “And why do you spend time with him? Shouldn’t you be ready to serve at my beck and call, Mackie-girl? Who knows, if you’re good I’ll give you one more pair of sunglasses. And what do Ravens have against you then? The only more-or-less tolerable people in this school and outside our house are there. But about nights getting lonely – well, I’m sure a hot water-bottle might help you in your worries.”

"Oh, I'm so sorry your majesty." Mack said in fake sympathy, she tapped Kris' head again with her wand and a crown of white daisies appeared on his head, "Better, kind sir?" She asked with a raised an eyebrow. She rolled her eyes and looked around at all the people. She was getting annoyed again. How her good mood had gone from good to bad, she did not know. She breathed in then looked at Kris as he started talking again.
"Jack's my best-friend. Jack Rendel. I spend time with him, because that's what you do with friends. I forgot that you wouldn't know what those are. As for me serving your every beck and call- I beg to differ. One of these days you'll wake up to find that you are going to serve my every beck and all. It's just; common sense. Everyone will serve me, one day. The Ravenclaw thing isn't that important. It's past. So, it's done with. But a hot-water-bottle? Are you feeling alright? I never thought a hot-water-bottle could replace sunglasses." Mack replied with a small smile.

Kris raised his hand to take of the flowers from his hair and he looked at the days thoughtfully, before putting them back: “Well, they are flowers. But I’m not completely sure how well they got with my hair and accent my eyes.” Kris looked at the girl thoughtfully: “And you were the one, who said that your nights get lonely. You won’t get the next pair of sunglasses until you have deserved them.”
“Jack Rendel. Never heard of him. Is he a friend-friend, or a friend-crush? If he’s the later, then he’ll be up for quite a shock should he come out and find me here with my head on your leg,” Kris pointed out calmly, “Then again, it should be obvious why you get to enjoy my company. I’ve got to have the best there is to worship me, even though nothing can really stand up to my level now. But tell me more of your world-domination plans then, if you are so sure everyone will one day serve you. I can maybe point out some weaker spots in you plan.”

"Oh, I'm sorry, you're completely right- I must work for my next pair of sunglasses. I will wait on you hand and foot- you're wish is my command." Mack looked down at Kris with a laugh and was coming very close to just pushing him off her lap. It would be rahter entertaining to see him roll off, though she knew he would probably catch himself before anything.
"No! Definitely not friend-crush! Friend-friend. Why is it that everyone keeps saying I like him like that?!" Mack growled. She hated that everyone thought she liked Jack more than a friend. Bee thought it, Dix thought it, she was positive Padme thought it, it made Mack so angry. She couldn't help but laugh, though, when Kris said something about Jack being shocked when he walked out to find Kris' head on Mack's lap.
"Well- in the future- there will be a big statue of yours truly in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. This is how I figured I will dominate it. I will at first conquer England by scaring everyone into giving up their country. After England I will conquer all of Europe by asking them to please give me their land- if they don't I will have to resort to weapons. After Europe there will be North America- who willingly give me their land because everyone in North America adores me so. And then I will take an extended vacation while plotting the rest of the world. A girl need sher beauty rest you know."

“Friend-friend. That’s good,” Kris nodded with satisfaction, noticing that Mack seemed a little irritated by the question, “You are too young for me to spoil you. So why let other guys have the fun? Even though I’ll remember the name just in case I ever feel the need to pick on some Slyth. I can always say I don’t like the way he treats you.” Kris smirked – he had a quick wand and he did know some rather unique hexes – compliments to himself. And only practice made perfect.
Kris fell silent and thought over Mack’s world-domination plan. It was amusing: “I’m afraid you forgot one thing, Mackie-girl. You are number two gorgeous – North-America looks at me and you will be forgotten, sweety. And one more question – aren’t you afraid of breaking a nail while using the weapons to conquer? I know you can order others to do t, but really – do you expect them to do everything as well as they are supposed to? Out of pure irritation you might break a nail and think what a loss it would be to the world. No amount of beauty-sleep would make that alright.”

Mack hit Kris upside the head lightly, she would rather hit him then push him off. She listened to him speak before saying; "That's right. Well, I guess I'll just have to make you ugly before I intend to conquer North America, now won't I? What makes you think I will be the one using the weapons? I will have little house-elves to carry the weapons, maybe even some willing people who wouldn't mind dying in an epic battle for me." Mack smiled down at Kris, her head tilted to the side in a way that said she was enjoying this.

“OY!” Kris said opening one eye and scowling at Mack, “Don’t scar me.” Reaching his hand out Kris pinched Mack lightly – not strong enough to hurt or to leave a mark, just enough so Mack would feel it. Taking a hold of Mack’s arm, Kris grinned closing his eyes again, “Remember – if you push me off, I’m taking you with me.”
“Alright, you conquer the world and since you are blindly, head over your heels, completely, utterly in love with me – one sidedly – I get the benefits of world-domination. Works for me. Just don’t take too long and do make sure your house-elves make long circles around me – it really is too bothersome to get blood out silk.”
