It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping. There was a gently breeze which kept the air at just the perfect temperature. Not to hot, and not to cold. It was the perfect day to lay in the shade and read a good book. There was Ed's first dilemma. He had no idea what book to read. Ed stood in his dorm room, hands on his hips, frowning down at his bed where he had laid a few, 20 to 30 in Ed's case, of his books. "Hmm." Ed tapped his finger against his hip as he looked at the cover of one book, thought of its contents, than looked at another and repeated the process over and over again.
Finally giving up and throwing his hands in the air Ed decided to just take them all and than pick one at random and read it and than move onto another one. Ed was a smart guy, top marks in all the classes that require skill of the mind, but sometimes he forgot to thinks things through. So it was with this situation. When Ed had collected all of his books he didn't even realize that the pile in his arms was way above his head, and it wasn't very steady, but Ed had his mind set and nothing would deter him, or so he thought.
Luckily Ed had left his dorm room door open, so that provided no problem. Again he got lucky for someone entered the common room just as he was leaving, so that object provided no problem either. Ed stuck his head around the stack of books and tried to keep a watch on where he was walking. Students were running all over the halls with no concern to what they hit. Ed did a miraculous job of dodging through the turmoil, almost loosing his books a couple of times.
Finally, salvation seemed to be had, he made it outside. Outside was a lot clearer and roomier than the halls. Ed turned and craned his neck and spotted the perfect tree, and the path to it was clear. He walked to it, confident that if anyone stepped in his way he would be able to see them, but there he forgot something again. Ed was a tall guy, tall by even the 6th year standards, and a lot of 1st and 2nd, even 3rd years, were below his line of sight.
Ed felt himself bump into something and this time, he didn't manage to hold onto his books. He started to fall and he watched as his stack began to topple. He heard squeak coming from the person he collided into and than they were buried under the mountain of books. Ed sat on his butt stunned for a moment. He looked at his pile of books and noticed a leg sticking out of them.
"Oh no! Are you ok?" Ed scrambled over to the pile and began to dig through the books to try and reach the person buried under them.
