Sitting in the common room Lenora re-read ‘Romeo and Juliet’ for about the millionth time. As she went over Act 1 Scene 5 she spoke Juliet’s lines aloud practicing for her performance this comming summer. “My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me, that I must love a loathed enemy.” She closed to book at her favorite line. In a graceful movement she got out of the chair and swept up the stairs toward the dorms.
Lenora grabbed a long black jacket and threw it over her shoulders while slipping her arms into the sleeves. After re-applying her pale pink lipstick and brushing through her long blond hair she made her way out of Gryffindor Tower with a smile. Leaning on the heavy entrance doors she did a half spin out into the snow with her head thrown back and her tongue out to catch snowflakes.
Pulling a pair of pale blue gloves out from her pocket Lenora walked down the worn path leading to the courtyard. She hummed to herself a silly little tune that she couldn’t place and contemplated what she could do upon reaching her destination.

Katie was sick of the snow. She had been inside for what seemed like an eternity. Looking longingly out the window she could see the soft snow falling down. Sighing, Katie walked back over to her bed and sat down. Today was just another cold, boring day. After a few moments of thinking up what she could do, she decided to take a book to a quiet place and read. Looking through the many books she had brought with her to Hogwarts she decided on Romeo and Juliet. Katie was in the mood for a good love story. She pulled on her coat, gloves, and hat and placed the book inside her shoulder bag.
Figuring the lounge would be too noisy and the library would be too crowded, Katie decided to go out to the courtyard where she was not likely to see too many people, on account of the cold. Katie found a nice little bench in a secluded corner of the courtyard and pulled out her book. She had only just started reading when she heard the crunching of snow getting nearer and nearer to her. Katie looked up from her reading to see a blonde haired girl around her age walking through the courtyard. She smiled sweetly at the girl, thinking that she more than likely had somewhere to be and would just keep walking.

As the courtyard drew nearer and nearer Lenora began to sing under her breath. “When the night won't fall and the sun won't rise. And you see the best as you close your eyes. When you reach the top as you bottom out. But you understand what it's all about. Nothing's ever what it seems. In your life or in your dreams. It don't make sense, what can you do. So I won't try makin' sense of you.” She walked around singing with nothing to do when she noticed a girl sitting in the corner. As the girl smiled at her Lenora approached and decided to try and get to know her. Lenora was never a shy person for some reason and that worked in her favor usually.
“Hello” she said to the girl cordially “I’m Lenora. Surprised someone else decided to brave the cold. But it’s a lovely day so its well worth it don’t you agree?” she said taking a seat on the bench across from the girl.
Song still in her head Lenora crossed her legs and looked around the courtyard. All the fountains were turned off and the gardens covered in snow but it was still just as beautiful. Winter had its own charm Lenora found. Not that she was a fan of the cold but… the snow was beautiful; except when it had been stepped on too much and gained that muddy quality.

Katie was surprised the girl stopped and sat down by her. She had all but planned on reading this evening, but apparently fate had other things in store for her. Katie listened as the blonde introduced herself as Lenora. "It's nice to meet you Lenora. I'm Katie. I don't really care too much for the cold, I was just looking for a place that would be somewhat quiet. Considering how cold it is out here I thought most everyone would be in the lounge. The snow is rather pretty though." Katie thought back to all the times she had sketched Shadow in the snow covered pasture. Every year when she went home for Christmas break Katie would make sure that she visited the stables to draw at least once. "What brings you out here tonight Lenora?"

When Lenora had introduced herself the girl told her her name was Katie and that she was bearing the cold in search of quiet. She was about to ask if Katie wanted her to leave but she continued to speak so Lenora figured her company must be welcome. Lenora smiled and nodded in agreement as Katie mentioned how pretty the snow was. Katie then asked what she was doing out there as well. Lenora gave her a goofy grin, “Call it inspiration. I was in the common room and next thing I know I have my jacket on and am heading out into the snow. It was a spur of the moment decision and I have come to trust those most. Have you ever noticed that; your gut instincts and on the spot decisions tend to work out the best?” Lenora asked while looking around.

Katie thought carefully about what Lenora said before replying, "I usually don't go much on my gut instincts for important decisions, but for something that doesn't mean too much I do occasionally. I guess it does ususally work out alright, though. Sometimes I will just be reading or something and I all of the sudden get an urge to go do something else, so I understand where you're coming from." She closed her book and set it aside. "I was just reading some from Romeo and Juliet. I felt like a good love story tonight. Usually I get a huge bowl of ice cream and put on a movie, but that really isn't an option here, is it?"
Katie pulled her coat tighter against her in an attempt to keep out the cold. Realizing how silly that was she decided that to zip up her coat would work better. "Have you ever read Romeo and Juliet?" Katie asked zipping up her jacket, "Or seen the movie?"

Lenora’s whole face lit up at the mention of Romeo and Juliet. Katie mentioned wanting a good love story that day and a movie with ice cream not exactly being possible. Lenora giggled suddenly missing her sofa at home with the TV and remote and the kitchen right there. “No unfortunately we can't do that. It would be nice though but with all the magic around this place muggle inventions don't seem to work. That is so unfortunate but when I go home I really appreciate the ingenious minds of them; compensating so well and even having some things better, like TV. And then when I am here I get to focus on my reading without being distracted by the television or a movie. Although back home it is good to have my acting and dancing coaches, they are both muggles so I can't work with them during the school year.” Lenora babbled before Katie asked if she had read Romeo and Juliet.
“Why of course I have read it; I am Juliet. Or will be this summer at least.” Lenora said with a huge grin. “My agent found me a part in a production in London this summer as Juliet. The best part is the casting was done last summer when I could try out and the majority of the practices are next summer so I won't miss too many. Though I do have to know my lines before this summer because the play opens August 24th and so by the time I get to rehearsals everyone will have to know their lines already. That’s fine though because I have loved this play forever and thus knew it very well even before I got the part.” She explained happily knowing she could go on about the play forever, she was so excited; her schooling had really put a damper on her acting career.

"So, I'm assuming you are a muggle born too? Or at least a half blood to be familiar with and own muggle things?" Katie asked hopefully. It was nice to be able to talk about muggle things with someone hear at Hogwarts. She needed a nice reminder of home. Even though she planned on living a magical life after Hogwarts, she still planned on owning a television and other muggle items. It just wouldn't be a home without one. "That's really neat, your being an actress and all. My best wishes to you in making a great career from it. So, were you planning on practicing tonight or something? If you were I could help you run lines if you want or we can just talk about Romeo and Juliet some more if you prefer."
((Sorry about the length. The next one will be better, I just wanted to finish all of Katie's posts tonight.))

Lenora grinned as Katie asked if Lenora was muggleborn or halfblood. “I prefer to think of myself as duel blood actually; I'm not half in anything. I belong to both worlds, am not half in either. But yes in those terms I would be a ‘halfblood’ my mother a witch and father a muggle. Its rather good in fact, I get the best comforts from both worlds.” Lenora explained happily; not mentioning the bad parts of it. Refusing to think about being frightened to have friends over as a child lest someone floo into the living room.
She did consider, though, running lines with Katie as she offered. “Well I was actually rehearsing before I came out but if you would like to run lines we can or if you would like to discuss the play I am more than capable of that as well.” Lenora said to her with a large smile, glad to have meet someone with her passion for the play. “It is an amazing play though is it not. I think just about everyone can get something out of it.”<br>

Katie smiled, "Oh I know! I had to force my younger sister to read it. She isn't exactly in to those kinds of things. But as soon as she had read it she told me she had loved it. If Jane could get something out of it, then I definently would believe that anyone else could. She just isn't a real love story girl. Jane is quite the tomboy in the way she acts." This discussion of her sister brought all sorts of memories into her mind ranging from birthdays to Christmas to horses to football. How she wished Jane was here with her at Hogwarts. It would be so wonderful.
"I think my favorite line from the whole play is 'A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.' It is such a beautiful metaphor and it can applied to all sorts of things in life. What is your favorite bit?"
