“Chase it down or give it up Roll the dice and try your luck But if you do Remember this: There’s no such thing as an innocent kiss,”
Dana sang out cheerily as she excited the castle and bounded down the steps to reach the courtyard. It was fairly early so the courtyard seemed empty, but Dana didn’t let that bother her. Crouching down Dana formed a small snowball, then started to roll it around until it almost reached her waist, so she physically wasn’t able to move it anymore.
Then she started to create a second snow-ball, although a bit smaller this time and levitated it on top of the first one with her wand. Quickly creating one more ball, Dana lifted it to be the snow-man’s head and smoothened out the snow on the snow-man. Pulling off her multicolored hat, Dana placed it on the snow-man’s – or snowwoman’s rather – head on a knavish angle and wrapped her long scar that was also as multicolored as her hat, around the snow-woman’s neck.
Dana sighed as she discovered that she had forgotten to bring something for the snowman’s face and she didn’t really feel like going back into the castle right now either. Brushing her loose hair back, Dana started to create the snow-man’s hands after which she looked around wondering what she could use as the snow-man’s broom and face as she smiled happily. Maybe it would seem a childish thing to do to pass time, but in a way making a snow-man on a bright sunny day was fun and relaxing. And surprisingly nice. Dana started to slowly circle the snow-man looking at trees and bushes to see, if she could find anything she could use to add the last touches to the snow-man.

Faith looked out of the frost-covered window and felt a smile creep across her face. The lawns below were transformed by the soft, white carpet that now lay upon it.
It was unusual for snow such late in the year and, Faith decided as she wrapped her long scarf around her neck, walking down the deserted corridor, she wasn't going to miss any of it. Even if it did mean getting up and going out on her own.
She hurried towards the Entrance Hall, still grinning. Something about snow always made Faith transform into a toddler again.
Eventually she reached the doors leading to the courtyard. They were hard to move they were stiffened by the frost covering them outside, and, as she wrenched them open she felt freezing cold air hit her face.
Outside was quiet, the odd stillness that comes with snow was noticeably present, and it was deserted except for one person. And a snowman.
Faith recognised the person from previous meetings, Dana, a Ravenclaw. She dug her hands in her pockets and crossed the Courtyard to where Dana was, circling around in search of something.
"Hi there," Faith greeted, with a smile from somewhere inside her scarf, "I'm just admiring your fine piece of work here. A noble accomplishment. Did it take long?"

Dana had found two small cones which would be enough for the snow-man’s eyes, when she heard a voice spoke to her. Turning her head and noticing Faith Dana grinned. “Hey, it’s a gorgeous morning, isn’t it?” Dana greeted the younger happily stepping up to the snow-man that was about her height and placing the cones as the snow-man’s eyes, “And nope, it didn’t take too long. About 20/25 minutes I guess. But it was fun,” Dana shrugged and took a step back to eye the snow-man critically, “I just wish I had thought of bringing something for it’s nose and mouth. And I’m not completely sure if I should give the snowman a broom also or not.”
Dana smiled and turned to Faith, brushing a bit of snow out of her hair, thinking that she would need to dry her hat and scarf off, before wearing them again: “Any idea as to what I might be able to use?”
Faith dug in her pockets.
"Let me see," She said, taking out the contests and displaying them in her hand. Faith hadn't cleared out her pockets since lessons the day before and, as expected there was a mixture of unusual things to behold.
"OK, we have....a quill, maybe a feather in his hat? Or else a very wierd nose. We also have two sickles, they'd do for eyes but you've already sorted that out, we have a chewing gum wrapper, chuck that away," She murmured, screwing it up and shoving it back in her pocket, "Moving on, we have a peice of black fabric that ripped off the bottom of my robe, can't use that. And, a wand, no way," She laughed, "And a crumpled bit of parchment."
She shrugged.
"Nothing useful, sorry," She said, "And, by the by, ofcourse he has to have a broomstick! He hasn't got any legs. It's his only means of transport!"
She put on a mock-thoughtful air.
"However there may be snow-men that don't feel the need to travel long distances..."

Kari pulled her thick wollen cloak around her. She wrapped a scarf around her neck and pulled on some warm gloves. The perfect day for playing around in the snow. She rushed out the door, and saw Faith Oraco, one of her dorm mates, talking to Dana Coran. Kari had met Dana before at the Valentines Day party, and Faith and Kari hung out together in the dorm room.
"Hi, you guys." she said, wrapping her cloak tightly around her. "Nice snowman. He needs a nose, though." Kari pulled a button off her cloak. "It was loose, anyway. Now he has a nose," she said as she plonked the button right donw in the middle of the snowman's face.
"Perfect."

Dana laughed as Faith went through her pockets to see if she had something they could use for the snowman. “The feather would be great, if you don’t mind loosing it,” Dana grinned picking up the feather and attaching it to the snow-man’s hat, then taking a step back and looking at the snow-man. “We just need a nose and a mouth now,” Dana decided, noticing that Peeves had probably brought one of Filch’s brooms over and dropped it into the fountain, where Dana hadn’t noticed it before, as it was only visible at one angle.
Dana had just started to move to get the broom, when some girl, she didn’t know approached and pulling off a button from her cloak placed it as the snow-man’s nose. “Hello,” Dana said to the girl. She seemed also a third year, “There wasn’t really any need to break your cloak though? The button could have been fixed with one quick spell. It fits the snow-man though.”
Dana moved to the fountain and brought out the bit icy broom thrown in there and added it to the snow-man, then taking a step back and looking at the snow-man, giggling lightly, “Now all we have to do is to find a fitting mouth. I’m Dana by the way.” Dana added to the girl who had just joined them.

As Dana went to fetch the broom, Faith heard a voice from behind her. She turned round to see Karissa,a good friend of hers, approaching them.
"Hi Kari," She said, with a warm smile for such a chilly morning.
She watched as Kari pulled off a button from her cloak and placed it centre-stage on the snow-man's face.
Dana placed the broom at his side and Faith took a step back to admire the almost-finished product.
"Mouth," She mused, glancing around for any signs of anything that might resemble a mouth on the snowy ground.
"We could do with some string, or a curved twig or something," She murmured, using her foot to clear some snow away, "Failing that there's always the good old method of a few stones arranged in a smile."
She spotted some good ones, and picked them up, holding them in her pink-gloved hands.
"Well," She said dubiously, "Unless you've got any better ideas?"

"I don't have any better ideas, and I think stones will give him a nice mouth," Kari said, looking at the stones Faith held. Kari looked around, but couldn't get any ideas. "I think stones would be great."
((sorry the post is so short, I'm kind of tired right now.))

Dana smiled as Faith picked up some stones: “Yep. Doubt that we have much else to use a mouth, so the stones will work nicely.”
Dana grinned at the snowman and the other girls and laid back a bit further, wanting to do a snow-angel all of a sudden. She was in a childish mood today and enjoyed. Dana was overly happy lately anyway.
Laying down on clear snow, Dana moved his arms and legs and when she was satisfied with the shape of the snow-angel hopped of the angle, somehow managing to not spoil it. “I love the weather today!” Dana exclaimed, brushing the snow out of her hair, “And the snow-man. This we should make an other one next to the first one, so he – or she – wouldn’t be too… lonely?” Dana asked with a grin from Faith and Karissa.

"Ofcourse!" Faith grinned, "Gotta keep you're snowman happy!"
She scraped around in the snow and began to assemble a ball for the snowman - or woman's - body. However, the snow around them was getting slightly sparse on the ground, due to the amount used on the previous creation.
"We could always make him a pet?" Faith suggested, kneeling on the ground as she weighed up her options, "Like a dog or something. They're smaller - require less snow. Orrrr," She glanced around, "We could lug the snow from over there."

“Pet would be great!” Dana agreed happily at Faith’s idea, already loving it, “I don’t really know how to make on. Sounds a bit more complicated than a regular snow-man, but I’m up for a try!”
Dana crouched down and started patting snow together glancing around and grinning after seeing that snow around the snowman was really getting sparse: “Let’s make the snow-pet and then see if we are still up for making some more. If we do, then we can always move a bit or levitate the snow here.”
Dana sighed contently, shaping g the snow with her hands. It was relaxing and fun to be out here right now and Dana loved it. “Figured I’d use the last chance of winter and make a snow-man as the snow will probably be gone again soon,” Dana fell silent for a moment, “which I’m actually quite grateful for. I’m not a very big fan of winter.”
James walked out into the courtyard. It was a beautiful day, and he needed something to do. He saw some people skating on the lake, some people sitting around talking, and three girls playing around in the snow.
James had always loved playing in the snow when he was a kid, making snowmen and snowangels, and best of all, snowball fights. James smiled and walked over to the girls.
"Hey," he said, asking one of the girls. "Whatcha making?"
James smiled, but suddenly felt cold as a strong wind blew snow at his face. He lfted his hood up over his messy black hair and looked at what they had made so far. They had made a snowman (or was it a snow-woman?) with a very interesting face, a snowangel or two, and it looked like now they were making a very small snow man.

Aislinn had obviously been laying on her bed reading over her Potions notes for way too long, so she attempted to stand but her legs quakes. The twinge of pins and needles flickered up her legs and she sat back down. She needed a break she decided while glancing out the window of her dormitory. Rising to her feet she wrapped her cloak around her followed by her scarf reflecting the colors of her house, Hufflepuff. Her feet carried her out of the girls' dormitory and the common room before she had even slid her gloves on.
Her brillant blue eyes lit up as soon as she reached the courtyard at the sight of the beautiful, pristine snow and greeted the chilled wind. Aislinn almost began to walk over to a few students making a snowman, but she quickly changed her mind and headed in the opposite direction. She crouched in an isolated corner of the courtyard and began to draw an odd looking bird into the snow. As soon as she finished the bizarre looking bird, she planted her finger back into the snow to draw a doxy until she realized that she was just drawing her notes.
"I wish I understood Potions better," she muttered as she let out a small sigh and rose to her feet.

Dana glanced up when some guy, who was around Dana’s age, approached them. “I thought I was cooking but now that you ask – I’m not really sure,” Dana answered a bit sarcastically at the guys questions, what they were doing, “Well, it’s quite obvious, isn’t it?”
Dana shook her head – she hoped the guy hadn’t taken it as an insult, but Dana really disliked when she was asked stupid questions like that one. To take the edge of her words, Dana send a small smile towards the guy and circled the courtyard, to get some more snow, as it was getting rather scarce around the first snow-man.
Dana saw some Hufflepuff girl enter the courtyard as well – her scarf gave the house away, but as the girl moved to an isolate corner, Dana didn’t start to bother her either. Having batted together enough snow for snow-pet, Dana was just about ready to go back to the other, when she heard the Hufflepuff girl mutter to herself “I wish I understood potions better.”
“We all wish that, but don’t think of Snape of such a nice day!” Dana told the girl with a small smile as Dana passed her, “Sorry, couldn’t help but over-hearing that comment.”
Dana went back to the snow-man and the small group of people and crouched down to continue the work on the snow-pet, smiling at everybody and sending a small grin towards the younger Hufflepuff girl as well.

Aislinn smiled nervously at the Ravenclaw girl as she spoke and her eyes faultered slightly not knowing what more to say. She nodded slightly and watched the Ravenclaw go back to the small crowd forming around the snow man and lump of a thing next to it. Shaking her head she continued to watch the spectacle but remained a good distance; however when the older girl flashed her a grin Aislinn flashed again another nervous smile. Appreciative of the Ravenclaw's attempt to be friendly, Aislinn moved a bit closer yet far enough to avoid any confrontation if presented.
The girl was correct - there was no need to let Snape's imminent Potions class ruin the rest of her day with the beautiful weather as it is. Aislinn was relieved that she wasn't be excluded, but some part of her wished another member of her house was around just in case. She let out a sigh but only to exhale her breath so it could dance like smoke from a fire. The opaline white of winter was and always would be a beauty of its own which very little could compare to.

Dana glanced up as the head of the snow-pet was almost done, trying to find something to use as the eyes and nose of the head. Noticing some small cones on the ground next to the Hufflepuff girl, who had came a bit closer. Dana herself was rather social and opened so she usually never had troubles in a circle of people, even if she didn’t know any. But she could also read people relatively well, and this girl seemed nervous. As the weather was great and Dana’s mood rather good, Dana decided to approach the girl a little – maybe she could get past her shyness and get her to enjoy the morning and probably last pieces of snow as well.
“I’ll be right back,” Dana told the others while standing up with the snow-dogs head in her hands and walked closer to the girl: “Think you could give me a hand for a moment. I don’t want to put the head down just yet, but would you mind using the cones as it’s eyes and nose?” Dana told the Hufflepuff girl, presenting the head to her, “I’m Dana by the way.”

Aislinn felt like she was a thousand miles away, her focus not on where she was and what she was doing, but on where she wanted to be. She felt like she needed a break from all of her school work, but at least it was nearing the end of term. Her focus was sharply pulled to a girl in front of her of which she never even saw coming. Startled, she shifted her weight onto one foot but then quickly composed herself.
"My name's Aislinn," she stated as she hurriedly picked up the cones Dana was talking about. Her hands carefully pushed two cones in place where the eyes should be taking extra care not to ruin it. Then she slid the nose on and gave Dana a slight grin. "I think that'll do it, don't you? He looks wonderful."
