What was the point in even trying to be someone who is fit to be worthy in Derreck Holden's eyes? What was the point of trying to prove to her father that she wasn't like Kristie Hanner- and that she did indeed enjoy magic? It all backfired in her face. She couldn't tell him she knew about Kristie and Josh, and she couldn't tell him she knew she was Molly. Yet she yearned to so much, because he was the one she wanted affection from. After all- he was her father. Even though Mack tried so hard to show her father how much she cared and how much she was a Holden; he still decided to send her away to Monaghan, Ireland to live with her old Aunt Gine. At first; Mack embraced this change of scenery, but now she just wanted to stay at the Holden Manor- whatever it took.
Mack stood up from her place in the common room- which was surprisingly empty- and walked out into the corridors; aimlessly wandering. She wondered where she would end up. Maybe she would end up in Oz like Dorothy had. No dim-wit, Dorothy was swept up into the tornado. There aren't any tornadoes here... Mack sighed at the realisation that she would never go to Oz where everything seemed to be better than reality, and decided to go to the Student Lounge instead. Her high-heeled boots clicked as she walked and she pulled her cloak tightly around her; suddenly rather chilly. It was summer outside, and the sun was shining brilliantly- but that didn't excuse the act that she was cold and she felt like her fingers were going to fall off.
She wrapped her cold and frozen fingers around the knob and pushed on the door to the student lounge. It wasn't as busy as usual- everyone was apparently outside, enjoying the bloody sunshine that never seemed to go away. Mack rolled her eyes and collided into an armchair, she winced but slid in lazily- not really bothering to swing her legs over the arm rest; she just wanted to relax. She hadn't relaxed in awhile- too much had gone on. The Hanner thing, then there was the whole Jack and Padme deal- and she was playing the supportive friend and helping him; or trying to, deal with the news that he had a sister for 11 years and he never knew about it. Of course Mack didn't have much help there, because she didn't know what to say to him...but she figured if there was anything she could help with, she would.
Mack closed her eyes with a sigh of defeat and started to doze off. She was starting to dream of lands with sunshine and no worries when someone stumbled in and walked straight into her legs. Mack sat up abruptly and glared at the intruder, her icey blue eyes telling the person she wasn't happy at all; "Watch where you're going, filth! People in here are trying to rest!" She glared once more before swinging her legs around and slouching down in her seat, clearly agitated that her nap was interuppted by someone who mightn't be worthy of her time.

Bee walked out of the common room slowly, reading the letter from Dan with earnest. Why am I so excited over this? I really don't know, but he seems like a brother that I've always had; he's always been there for me. Maybe more than a brother. She knew it wasn't like that, no matter how much she wished it to be, but it didn't hurt to hope. To try. Bee's bright green eyes traveled from the letter to a nearby window; the sunlight had gotten in her eyes. She sighed and tucked the letter into her pocket to reply to later. Soon, she would have to go back to her house and Saige....but there were good things too, like Perry, Carmen, Tibby, Lena and Dan. Her friends and Perry, who was her brother. It was always nice to be around Perry, since he was an optimist and alway looked at the good side of things. It always made Bee's heart lighter. Sometimes, however, it made her rather annoyed at him, since he never looked at what the real situation is. Bee walked down the hall, her sneakers slapping loudly against the floor.
My friends always tell me to get rid of these, Bee thought as she looked down at her muddy beat-up sneakers. But I don't think I ever will. My mum gave them to me, it was her last gift that she ever gave to me before she...passed away. Bee knew it was pitiful to be holding on to muddy sneakers just because her dead mother had given it to her. My mom died right before I got my letter, so she never knew... Bee took a deep breath and closed her eyes to get rid of all thoughts of her mother; her heart was still sore even though it had been three years ago. She wasn't aware where her feet were taking her until she walked into the Student Lounge. Bee looked around and took out the letter, looking it over for the fifth time. She was so busy reading that she accidently ran into someone's legs. She stuffed the letter back in her pocket as she turned to see who it was. It was Mack Holden, a girl she had met in Hogsmeade. Bee raised her eyebrows; she didn't seem in a good mood.
"Filth, am I?" Bee said, her tone colder than what she had meant it to be. "My humblest apoligies, royal one, I got my germs on you. Look out, you might get sick and die!" Bee said sarcastically, while looking Mack up and down. What happened to her? She seems to be stressed by something....

"Yes, filth. Did I stutter?" Mack asked. Finally realising who it was who had interupted the only peaceful time she had had in months. Mack sat up straight and looked at this Gryffindor she had met through Jack. They had ventured into the Shrieking Shack- big mistake there- and it had collapsed partially on them. Mack's wand still had a beating from when it was inside the tunnel. Bee looked okay though, considering she was passed out after a moment or two. Mack didn't know what happened with Bee and Jack after that because she left, not wanting to cause anymore damage. There was another reason as to why she had left them, but she wasn't quite sure if it was a totally clear reason. It was all so confusing to her still. Mack shook her head- coming back to reality and looked at Bee.
"Death would be superbly welcomed right about now. I would rather die a natural death though, not from catching some stray disease from an unwashed Gryffindor." She muttered this- her eyes fixated on the fire. She talked about Bee like a dog, but that wasn't something that she was sorry for. In fact there were few things Mack was sorry for recently. She said harsh and cruel things to people, and meant it. She didn't make an apology she didn't mean- she just left htem there hurt. What kind of monster am I turning into? She asked herself. She sighed and shook her head before answering, A serpent. There wasn't much she could do about that, she was after all placed in Slytherin for a reason. I wonder if third year is when most Slytherins turn to the darkest of dark sides. I should remember to ask Dixie sometime...
The relationship between her and Dix was actually a bit better than it had been. Ever since Mack had started to pack to move to Ireland, Dix has been nice to Mack. She was going to ask why her older sister was being so nice to her, but she couldn't get a moment to herself with Dix. Derreck and Pam were always peering over the two girls' shoulders. Her eyes began to water because she was staring into the fire, but she didn't dare break her gaze away. Her thoughts were a whirl-a-gig in her mind, and Mack was getting exhausted just continuing to think about it. She wanted to find out so many things- but she couldn't with Dumb and Dumber always prying into her business.

Bee raised her eyebrows slightly and laughed. "No not at all. I just wasn't sure if you were talking about me or yourself." She kept her face straight so that it showed no emotion. She wasn't going to let this Slytherin get to her. Not today, when she was feeling upset. She didn't want to get hurt even more by someone who didn't care. She knew it would be hard to win this battle, since she was drowning in her own misery, but she was not going to let Mack see it. She was not going to let her laugh at her like she knew she would. It would just make things worse, and Bee was not going to let that happen. She made her eyes look at Mack, although she wanted to walk away without a back-ward glance.
"Sorry to disappoint you, but a wash every day," Bee said. "And if you want to die from a natural cause, go be with your Slytherin friends. They'll bore anyone to death with their useless ideas about what's right and wrong." Bee swiftly looked away from Mack and braced herself for a sudden burst from the girl. She was sure that Mack wouldn't take that easily; but Bee wasn't going to let her walk all over her. Bee looked down at her muddy shoes and then back at Mack who was deep in the armchair. Bee clucked her tongue on the roof of her mouth, breaking the silence. Bee wondered why Mack was so interested in the fire, but didn't ask since it wasn't her business. Of course, she's probably not trying to look at some mudblood, Bee thought angrily. She tried not to think of such a thing.
"So, this is odd. I've never seen an upset Slytherin before? What's the matter? Can't control your emotions like all the others? Can't be like a Slytherin?" Bee bite her tongue to keep back farther things that she was going to say and looked at Mack closely, trying to detect what was really making the girl upset.

"I knew Gryff's weren't as smart as they let on. For if they were then you would know that the only filth I see is you." Mack said calmly- her gaze still placed placatly on the fire. She wasn't in the mood for an argument, but she wasn't in the mood to be nice either, "Or maybe it's just the mudbloods who are ignorant to their own unwanted existence." At this Mack looked at Bee- noticable hatred in her eyes. She didn't care if her words were stinging the Gryffindor; the girl was sticking around, she wasn't going to get a nice chit-chat.
Mack smirked, "And no amount of soap could clean such a filthy mudblood. If there is- the world is definitely coming to an end. As to my friends being boring- I beg to differ. They offer a rather interesting conversation when wanted, which is more than I can say for some in this school." She redirected her gaze back to the fire, feeling rahter impatient. THink of something that will get your mind off Pam and Derreck. A new nickname for Kris. He didn't like Mr. Sunshine and I have to think of something that lives up to Mackie-girl.... Mack smiled a small smile, remembering that morning in the courtyard- that was the most fun she had had in a while.
"My emotions are well under-check, I just perfer to examine the problems before I dive into them. I find it causes trouble and much more drama then I had wanted. You must've seen an upset Slytherin before- after all; you were just so close to Jack." Mack muttered the last part with so much sarcasm it could drown the world. She smirked again but didn't look at the piece of trash next to her. Bee- or any mudblood for that matter- wasn't worth her sight.

Bee laughed. "Right. Slytherins must really be running out of insults these days, since that was just lame. I've heard it long enough to not care anymore." She laughed again as if the situation was extremely funny. She did find it funny however that Mack wasn't being nice to her. She smiled slightly. So, you had to pretend to be nice in front of Jack? That's pretty sad; having to change yourself so he's not mad at you." she smirked slightly. "Slytherins like yourself are too blinded by arrogance to look at the world and except how it really is. Don't you understand that blood isn't a matter here?" She laughed lightly, her green eyes flashing dangerously. "Please don't prove me that you're dumber than I already think you are." her gaze never left the girl, but her eyes showed pure hatred when she mentioned Jack.
"No need to get jealous. You don't have to worry, Mackenzie. I don't even talk to him anymore. You don't have to worry about me getting in the way of you and your boyfriend." She glared at Mack. "I never saw him upset. He's always held his head high, but I'm sure he collapses when his nanny Mack is there." Bee clucked her tongue together again. "Like I said, Slytherins are arrogant and untrustworthy. Surely you know that being one?" Bee snickered but not loudly enough for her to hear. She knew that Mack would probably resort to physical pain in the heat of things, and she didn't want to go that far. She just wasn't going to let her walk all over her, like Kris and Mary had.

Mack cast a suspicous glance at Bee, her right eyebrow raised in such a manner that it showed that anything could set Mack off- and the fate would be deadly, "There are people worth being insulted, and then there are people who don't deserve my time. Guess which category you fall under? I'm only putting up with you at the moment because I have nothing better to do with my time. OH- and just so you know, blood is everything. It does matter. Even if it didn't- it sure makes teasing you a hell of a lot more fun."
"I'm surprised you can think, with a such a minute brain that you have." She stated simply at the part of her being dumb. She wasn't in the mood for a blow up or any physical harm- she just wanted to be left alone. When Bee accused Mack of being jealous, however, the sparks began to fly, "Oh, my dear Bridget, I am afraid you have been mistaken. Jack is nothing more than a good friend to me. Maybe it is you who is jealous of me, because of the time he spends with me- and because of the sides of him I have seen and you have yet to see. As for me being a nanny; Jack doesn't need one- he's a big boy, potty trained and all. But it doesn't hurt to have a caring and trustworthy friend- I don't expect you to understand what one of those are. And Slytherins are only arrogant and untrustworthy to those who don't see how the world really should be. Don't judge someone until you've walked two moons in their moccasins, eh Bridget?"

Bee smiled. "You call this teasing? That's surprises me. Maybe you should look up teasing in the dictionary and see what it means, so you don't use it in the wrong way. Oh- I forgot that you probably don't know what a dictionary is, eh? It's a book that holds all the words one can use. There, maybe you've actually learned something." She shifted her weight to her other foot; she wasn't going anywhere. Bee raised her eyebrows at the Slytherin as she started to get worked up over Jack. She smiled triumphantly to herself.
"Me? Be jealous of you? Honestly! I thought you were smarter than that! Be jealous of you just because you get to spend more time with a git?!" Bee laughed again, but this time it didn't seem funny. She wasn't sure why she was laughing, but she just felt the need to. Bee smiled at Mack. "I believe you're wrong there, smartie-pants. I've seen a side of that nasty boy that would make your hair curl." She said smoothly, her voice cutting into the air. "That surprises me. Potty trained? Wow, he really grew up since the last time I saw him. Really! Trustworthy?! He doesn't even tell you half of what he's done!" Bee said shrilly. Bee knew a lot about Jack, since she had gotten to tell him lots of stuff. She sighed and shook her head, giving Mack a glare.
"Well, I guess that proves you a hypocrite, Mack. You see, since when do you know what people like me feel? You haven't even taken a step into that world!" This she spoke very loudly, her eyes piercing Mack.

"Teasing; To annoy or pester; vex. To make fun of; mock playfully. To arouse hope, desire, or curiosity in without affording satisfaction. To urge persistently; coax. Must I go on?" Mack asked with another swift raise of her eyebrow, she had a lot of spare time on her hands. She resorted to reading the dictionary and memorising most of it.
"Oh, well, since you've seen a side of Jack that would make my hair curl- I suppose then you know about Padme? I mean; after all- if you know so many things about him that I don't, then you must most certainly know about his long lost sister. I mean; he must've told you about that at one point or another am I correct?" Mack asked with a look that said, 'Jack isn't worth fighting over.'
"And while we're on this- why is it that you have to counter-argue? If you don't think Jack is trustworthy enough or good enough to be your friend- then why argue with me about him? Wouldn't be a perfectly good waste of your precious time?" Mack pursed her lips together, waiting for her answer- not knowing what to expect.
"Yes, I'm a hypocrite, but unlike others- I openly admit that I am. You see, calling me a hypocrite on the grounds of not knowing- that's not accurate. Because I do know. I have lived in your world before. So I am not a hypocrite for saying what I said." Mack snapped at her. All this while she had stared at the fire, but now she looked at Bee and tilted her head- "And to answer your question from before, no. I wasn't acting nice to you because of Jack, yes I was giving you a chance because of Jack, but I wasn't acting nice. That was before my realisation that your kind isn't worth my friendship."

Bee smiled. "No, you don't need to go on. Did you notice that nothing you said went with insulting? I don't know what you think teasing is, but insulting is a different thing. Do you understand that? I'm insulted for something I have no control over. How would that make you feel? Special? I think not. Would I change? Yes. But I can't, you see. I'm stuck like this; I have no power over it. I can only try to make the best of what I have, which is troubling to do so with Slytherins around. Surely, if you walked in shoes like my own, you would know what I am feeling now, do you not?" Bee turned her gaze do the window this time. The sunshine was coming through; it didn't make Bee's mood lighten. She turned to face Mack.
"I think you started all this before, did you not? With the upset Slytherin thing. That's what got it started. I'm not really arguing, I guess I'm just saying what I know." Bee paused and her eyes grew wide as Mack said that Jack had a sister. "He has a-a sister? That can't be right. He told me he didn't!" Bee said indignantly, feeling the need to prove herself right. "You haven't seen his bad side yet, have you? I have and believe me, it's not pretty. I never heard of a Padme Rendel though..." Bee gazed at Mack. Is she telling the truth or is she just trying to get on my nerves?
"So, are you trying to tell me that for most of the three years you were here, you thought people like me to be worthy?" Bee asked in mock shock. "As for being a hypocrite, it's good for you to be truthful, but if you aren't a hypocrite for what you said, why are you on? Giving advice to people that you yourself don't follow, are you?" Bee sighed and gave Mack a look that said she didn't have to answer if she didn't want to. It's not like I want to know. I'm just saying..... Bee waited for a moment before taking a seat across from Mack, so she wouldn't have to stand in one spot

"From the looks of it though, I am annoying you- or at least pestering you with my 'lame insults.' Ergo, I am indeed, teasing you. And now you are saying that my insults are actually insults. Would you make up your damn mind, mudblood? So, you're telling me- you would change who you are to fit in? To be accepted? How pathetic is that? I mean, I at least changed because I realised I had a better reason to then to hang out with a lot of mudbloods and mutts. But you just changing because it's too hard to live through- that just shows you're a weak and a coward." Mack shot back, her eyes dancing with hatred and malice. She still didn't look at Bee though.
"Wow I must be stuttering tonight. Yes. A sister. S-I-S-T-E-R. You know, the female sibling? Padme's eleven and will be attending Hogwarts next year. She's a great kid- gonna go far. As for Jack's bad-side not being pretty, I didn't expect it to. Especially after he almost hit me by the lake- I guess I deserved that though; considering I called him a pansy mama's boy, it was well worth it though. Anyway-" Mack looked at her fingernails carelessly, inspecting them as if they were horrid; although she had just gotten a manicure, "yes I was indeed very foolish my first two and a half years at Hogwarts. Blending with the wrong crowd and giving my devotion and time to those who were most definitely not worth it. I'm a hypocrite because I tell people not to do something- when I myself have done it. As in- telling Jack to not go out with a Ravenclaw. Even though I infact had kissed one. Hypocricy right there. Though you must realise, that my hypocricy does not, however, go on the grounds of not knowing the mudbloods world. I have lived there- and I have no intention of returning. As for giving advice that I don't follow- you know so little about me. I don't give advice about something unless I have experienced it. Say- this girl came up to me and asked if she should kiss someone of a different blood. I would say; no, because it ruined my life- therefore it would ruin hers." She clicked her tongue, "It really is a pity that you jump to conclusions, Bridget."
