Elisabeth slid down into one of the chairs in front of the fireplace. Her mind was full of thoughts and feelings, but she couldn't sort through them. So much had happened in the past few weeks, and she hadn't had a chance to think about any of it. She closed her eyes for a moment, and just concentrated on the feeling of the warmth of the fire against her skin. Elisabeth opened her eyes and stared into the fire, watching the flames dance before her. The colors entranced her, until finally she was struck with sudden inspiration.
In the back of her mind she could hear the other students talking and enjoying themselves. They were catching up with their friends, playing games, and doing other foolish things. But Elisabeth was totally absorbed in her drawing, and worked tirelessly for what felt like forever, until she was satisfied. She placed the pencil behind her ear and rested the sketchbook in her lap. She studied her drawing for a moment, before deciding to come back to it later. Elisabeth noticed that the chairs around hers were still vacant. She sat in silence, staring into the fire, waiting for someone to talk to.

Jack walked away from the mudbloods in the hall as quickly as he could. It was getting tiring already and he had only been here for a week or so. Roger would be very upset to hear about all the muggles that had gotten into the school. He would probably have a heart-attack. Jack nearly smirked at the thought. Poor Roger's world had been crumbling lately, as was Jack's, but he preferred to look at his father's circumstances instead. It was easier this way since Jack felt no need to pity himself. He didn't have too many problems....yet. There was no where to go in the school anymore and come out completely clean. Even the Grounds were disgusting with all the filth that lurked in the lake, turning the water black. Jack glared at nothing in particular on his way down there, trying to avoid his gaze off of everything in the surrounds. He hadn't talked to Mack in a while lately, not to mention his other Slytherin pals. School work had taken him away from most of the world and the worthy, which was what he hated. Sometimes summer was even better, when he got to see his friends. Sadly, that was nearly never. Jack shrugged it off and walked into the nearest door, which happened to lead into the Student Lounge.
Jack hadn't gone into the Student Lounge yet. That was where all the mudbloods and half-bloods gathered to talk about their day. He knew this but didn't stop his feet as he entered the room. Might as well relax. He deserved the Student Lounge more then them! It was his Hogwarts, so the mudbloods should clear the way for him and all the others that were supposed to be here. They didn't even have the right to lick the floor. Jack smirked and noticed that the room was rather full. He should have known it would be this way. Disgusting and filled to the brim with filth. There was no where to sit but by a girl. The chairs near her were empty. Did she have any friends or what? He smirked; a perfect target to hit upon. He had no where else to go and he felt the need to just get on to someone. Especially someone alone. He sauntered off to the empty chairs and sat in the one farthest away from her. "So, no friends around here, I see? I suppose no one would like to know the likes of you anyway." he greeted coldly while glaring at the girl in the eyes.

Mesmerized by the fire, Elisabeth almost didn't notice the boy who sat in the chair farthest away from her. She slightly turned her head to glace at him, and she almost instantly recognized him as a Slytherin. He had a look about him, as if he thought that he was better than everyone else and his expression was a mixture of darkness and hatred. He started to speak and she looked him right in the eye. There was nothing there except for coldness and cruelty. Elisabeth looked away as a chill spread through her body. "So, no friends around here, I see? I suppose no one would like to know the likes of you anyway." His voice was sharp and icy, and it was his tone that bothered her, more than his words.
"Well thank you for that clever observation, I hadn't noticed. Perhaps you would be willing to give me some advice, as I can see that you have an abundance of friends among you." Her voice was unlike his, not cold but instead fiery with anger. She could hold her own in any fight, but Elisabeth felt she wasn't quite up to a full-on argument at the moment. She discreetly moved her wand further from her back pocket, so it would be easier to reach if needed. She looked him in the eyes again, trying to ignore the warning that his eyes seemed to scream at her. "Although I suppose all arrogant and foolish boys are alike, I don't believe I caught your name." Elisabeth never once deviated her gaze from his, determined to show him that she was not someone who gave up easily.

Jack smirked at the girl. His electric blues watched her as she attempted to hurt him in some manner. A mudblood manner. He should have known she would be like this. "Me giving you advice? You might as well be waiting for the world to stop turning." he replied with another cold mockery of her voice. "I don't give advice to mudbloods, who don't even belong here, let alone should have friends. Only muggles would make friends with the likes of...ah...you." He leaned back in the armchair to show that he had no time for games and saw that the girl reached for her wand. Jack raised an eyebrow and cocked his head; a mudblood fighting someone like him? A younger girl too, at the looks of it. How pitiful....He smirked again and blinked slowly at her, like a cat. This could make for some amusement.
"You don't need to know my name. I don't give it out to everyone. It wears it out, especially on the tongue of the filthy, that don't know right from wrong, or when they're even wanted....It's sad to watch people like you struggling to be noticed, but the problem is....you aren't even a part of our world. So how could we notice you as one?" His tone was that of ice and his blue eyes frosted over slightly. He needed some game today; this girl could work out fine. True, he had no friends with him at the moment, but if he did, there wouldn't be enough room to fit them all in the room. He watched the girl for any signs of a fight. She had moved her wand, sure, but that was just a pitiful excuse of a signal. She was probably getting ready to defend herself. Jack knew he was stronger then any mudblood, so he stretched out on the chair in leisure, all the time his eyes on the girl who was soiling the chair with her germs.

Elisabeth's face was black as he responded to her comments. He thought she was muggle-born, this only furthered her suspicion of his House. She judged from his reaction to her movement of her wand that he considered her to be no threat. An arrogant smirk appeared on his face again, and he retorted that not only did she not need to know his name, but he tried to tear her down with words about how pitiful she was. She stared into his eyes for a moment before looking away. His eyes were like ice and she recognized the look but couldn't quite place it.
Elisabeth was determined to show him that his words would not even penetrate the surface, and that further more she could care less what he thought. She removed the pencil from behind her ear and open her sketchbook once again. She began to revisit the drawing that she was working on before he arrived. Without looking up she replied. "You might want to be more careful of who you accuse of being Muggle-born. My father was a Pure-blood, and both he and my mother were Aurors. In my opinion, it is people like yourself that do not deserve the honor of learning magic." Her eyes narrowed as she focused more on the details of the picture, in the back of her mind trying to place where she had seen those terrifying iced eyes before.

Jack smirked as the girl said that her daddy was a pure-blood, while leaving her mother out totally. Maybe she was ashamed of her own mother; that would be funny. He could always avoid the fact that he was ashamed of his own mother. He made his eyes cold and heartless, complete ice with incredible depth, but she would never penetrate the surface. He smirked arrogantly at her, taking out his own wand and beginning to twirl it between his fingers. It was an action often used by everyone in Hogwarts, and he had only just caught the hang of it. Not that the girl needed to know that either.
"Me? Be more careful? You really are an amusing little girl, aren't you? Does it look like I care if one of your worthless parents are a pure-blood? He would still belong in the trash. Does it look like it matters at all to me that your parents were Aurors? It just proves their stupidity even farther. It's sad that you can point out your own parent's faults, but I guess you can't help but do it. Even accidentally, considering they have so many." He smirked with ease as he leaned back lazily, yawning slightly. The girl was holding no interest in him. Good thing too, since he was completely bored now. She was a push-over, not even putting up a fight. She wasn't even worth the title of witch. He raised both eyebrows at her with sarcasm, trying to see if she was bothered at all by these words. Even a freak would look up at those remarks. Wouldn't she want to protect her parents? If she didn't, she had no pride and respect. Even dirtier trash then she could have been before he had learned all these random facts. This girl was nothing at all, taking his insults without even an attempt to push them back. Jack preferred other mudbloods next to this one. At least they had some fire that possessed many people, including the worthy.

Elisabeth felt her blood boil as the boy laid into her parents. He has absolutely no respect...must not have a conscience either. He really started to put down her parents, and before she knew it she had stood out of her chair. Her wand was in her hand, pointed directly at the face of the most arrogant boy she had ever met.
"Keep your mouth off my parents. Just because your parents are a complete disgrace does not mean you can talk about other's that way. And I don't know who you are but if you think being an Auror is a fault then...." And then Elisabeth realized where she had seen that look before. She recognized it from the wanted posters in the city, from the stories her aunt told, and from the dreams she had from her parents. It was the same icy stare of someone who had no soul, and killed innocents for sport...the eyes of Voldemort's supporters.

Jack raised an eyebrow carefully as Elizabeth got very upset about her parents. He smirked and leaned back, amusement flickering through his face as the wand was pointed at his face. "I should have known you would lose control. Gryffindors always belief they are very powerful and strong, but it hurts to say the truth. That you're not. Only in your fantasy world can you be stronger then someone older then you, which includes myself." He scowled darkly at the girl, running a hand through his mop of dark hair. Then, the girl mentioned his parents. Jack's eyes remained so cold and thoughtless, even though the smite on his parents had hurt.
"You're right, of course. You know everything there is to know about everyone because you're so...wonderful," Jack sneered arrogantly, glaring at her fiercely. "But, you're right. My father is a complete fool and my mother is a freak. They were good people, but current events have changed them for the best. Your parents, however, were born stupid and cursed, unable to go to their full potential because of who they were." This girl was starting to get boring now. Jack considered his nails as he waited for something to come out of her mouth. It seemed to take a while, so Jack snapped his fingers together, snarling at the girl with obvious contempt.

Post by Peeves the Poltergeist on Oct 25, 2005 4:30:55 GMT
Peeves floated upside down in the hallway as he waited for someone to slip and fall on the fresh coat of oil he'd dumped on the floor. It was rather boring though, he had waited ages ( 37 seconds ) and still no one had come by. So he zipped up three floors to the student lounge and peeked through the floor. Many ickles were here!
Peeves did a belly flop and then dove back down to his secret closet and picked out a ripe pale of rotting onions he'd stolen from the kitchens severals weeks ago. Faster than fast he zoomed up the staircase until he was once more at the student lounge. Taking a stick he shoved open the door then flew in and circled high above the ickles. "COME AND GET SOME ICKLES!" He cackled as he started to throw rotting onions at the students!
