Aubree made her way out of the dungeons. It was too cold and damp in there. She couldn't concentrate with all the girls sobbing in her dorm. One of them, Mary, was friends with Kris, the Slytherin that was hurt. Aubree didn't know the boy, but she felt bad that he had to be involved in the attack. Aubree couldn't stand the tension anymore and decided to do her studying in the Student Lounge. She didn't feel like going in the library. When she arrived, she could see all the first years. She didn't like first years to much, but she had learned to deal with them. Aubree took a seat by a table and started to study.
She had already finished her homework, but Aubree was always on top of studying. She tried her hardest on anything she wanted to do. Usually just to please her parents. They seemed to like her younger sister Darmelle better. Aubree continued to memorize the ingredients of some potions. Potions was one of her favorite subjects, but she had to work hard at it. She pushed her hair beautiful blond aside as she continued to write the steps down. "I'll prove them wrong." She thought.

Blake had stormed out of the common room almost ready to bite someone’s head off. He normally wasn't in a bad mood but something about the first years this year seemed different. They were more annoying then in the past and everyone of them seemed to be doing spells that seemed to hit him. Some were very nice but he couldn't take all the spells. Blake didn't feel like going anywhere really. He could have just walked around and he would have been fine with it but then he thought about it and he really should have gotten some studying done before he started slipping in some of his classes. The only two he had ever really come close to getting bad marks in was Herbology and Potions which wasn't a real surprise. he did get his homework done on time at lest most of it but he never really studied and this he wanted to change this year.
Blake rushed back to the common room trying to get to the dormitory as fast as he could. He pulled out his Herbology and potion books then walked back out of the common room and heading to The Student Lounge with his books. When he got there, there wasn't many people. Blake toke a seat at the same table as another girl he had never seen before. He put the books down and pulled the Herbology book up and opened it. He then looked over at the girl. "So are you hiding from the first years too?" He said kind of laughing when he said it.

Aubree continued her studying. She was determined to make good marks in potions.Just then a Gryffindor boy came over. He was a little older than Aubree. She looked at him for a second and he asked if she was getting away from th first years. Aubree typically didn't like Gryffindors, but she could at least acknowledge his question. "No," She said stiffly. "I'm hiding from the crying." She answered softly. Aubree used to not like Gryffindors no matter what, but she was more mature now. She could at least see if he was worthy of her company.
"But, the first years do get quite annoying." She replied. She had never seen this boy before, but he seemed okay. Aubree was raised to not like Gryffindors, but she had her own personal reasons. Sometimes she wished she could go back in time and and change the fate of the young Gryffinfdor, but she couldn't. She continued to look at the boy wondering if he would also get hurt if she approved of him. Just like her best friend did.

Blake turned a few pages checking in his mind the plants he knew about already. He looked up as she was speaking then he looked back down at the book reading a little. Then she said that the first years do get quite annoying and he laughed. " That’s definitely true." He said still laughing the looking down at his book finishing off the page he was reading. He then looked back up at her when he was done. "If I didn't get out of the common room soon I would have went crazy on one of them." He said laughing. "Back there they're all trying new spells and most keep hitting me." He said looking down at the book. ” She seems nice for a Slytherin." He thought to himself reading a little of the next page.
"Man Herbology sure is boring." He said thinking out loud as he kept reading. Just more about plants he didn't know about and where they grew. A few plants were interesting but most seemed just useless to him.

Aubree soon realized this boy wasn't at all bad for a Gryffindor. Aubree was more mature now then she was her first year at Hogwarts. Back then, she hated everyone in the other houses, but now she had come to expect it. She however still didn't like muggle borns. They went against everything she was taught. She gave out a small laugh as she put down her quill. "The Slytherin first years are mean." She said with a little smile on her face. "I know we are Slytherins and we have a reputation for being mean to the other houses, but they are mean to fellow Slytherins! I guess I was like that back then too." She replied and she was. Back then, if she met this boy she would probably tell him off.
Aubree wrote down a few spells that she needed to study and then looked at the boy. "Oh, Aubree Montogue, by the way." She said nicely. "Slytherin fourth year." If her parents ever knew she was treating a Gryffindor this nice they would disrespect her even more, but she was tired of pleasing them. There was only one person she wanted to please and her lord wouldn't need her until she was older. "Yes, I have to study hard for Herbology mainly because it is so boring. What is your favorite subject?" She asked. She liked this boy. He was much more respectable than the Slytherin boys.

He laughed when she talked about the Slytherin first years being mean which he didn't find surprising at all. Of the all the house first years he disliked them the most they seemed more on edge then all the others in Hogwarts. "Well I'm sure some of the older years will put them in they're place." He said laughing as if it was a joke but he knew that would happen sooner or later to the Slytherin first years. They would tick off the wrong student and something would happen to them. Then she said her name and it hit him that he never said his. "O sorry where are my manners." He said laughing. "Blake Conners, Gryffindor fifth year." He said smiling then looking as the picture in the book.
It was of rose but it had a mouth and fangs on it. ” Jeez I hope we don't get that in Herbology." He thought to himself looking back up at her. Then Aubree asked what his favorite class was. "Well as you can tell It's not Herbology." He said with a small laugh. "Well it would have to be Defense against the dark arts." He said looking down at the book turning the page. "Other then that I would say Charms." He said then looking up at her. "So how about you?" He asked seeing as it was only fair to ask her the same thing.

"If they don't stop treating everyone rude, you can bet I will. I mean they come from noble families they should know respect." Aubree commented. It was true. All Slytherins, epically the girls, were raised on a code. Such as nod to an elder before approaching just to make sure it's okay. She was taught the rules when she was very young and was punished when she disobeyed them. The new Slytherins didn't seem familiar with the code.
The boy finally introduced himself as Blake Conners and he responded to her question. "Um, well not Herbology for me either. I'm pretty good at Defense Against the Dark Arts, myself and potions of course. But, I study hard for every subject as you can see." She lifted up her parchment with a long list of notes on it. "And thats just notes." She replied. Aubree tried very hard to do whatever she wanted just because she could. And she would never stop until she got what she wanted. Silence fell between the two so she wrote down a few notes and then looked back at him waiting for him to say something.
