Kris turned the page of the book he was reading. It actually was rather interesting – curse-breaking had always interested Kris and Egypt wasn’t bad either, if you knew where to go. Much less byrocracy there as well. Making a mental note to go and see some curse-breakers at work some time – maybe he could spare a week or two in summer? Kris shifted his leg and glanced over the edge of his book at a quiet noise. There was a small kitten on it’s hind paws staring up to him. Kris eye the kitten thoughtfully – he always had good contact with animals and the kitten seemed rather intelligent.
Closing the book and placing it next to himself, Kris clicked his tongue and lowered his leg next to the kitten. Greeting the kitten in French softly – the book had been in French so the language flowed from Kris’s mouth almost automatically – Kris watched as the kitten tilted it’s head before jumping on Kris’s leg and jogging up on it. “So what brought you here?” Kris murmured to the kitten letting it sniff at his fingers for a moment before stroking the kitten’s head and back more gently than most anyone could have guessed from a Slytherin. But animals had always brought out a softer side of Kris and this little fellow was no exception.
The kitten closed it’s eyes and purred in pure bliss for a couple of moments, before shifting a little and starting to lick one of it’s front paws and meowing rather sadly.
With one hand still stroking the kitten Kris’s right hadn’t felt the paw the kitten had been licking finding the recognizable form of a splinter inside the paw almost immediately. “This is going to hurt,” Kris told the kitten, turning the animal on it’s back and holding the animal still, pulled the splinter out sharply. The kitten meowed loudly in protest, but the splinter had to be taken out. Turning the inch long sharp piece of wood around in his hand, Kris wondered where the kitten might have stumbled onto it as the kitten started to lick it’s paw again, while settling down more comfortably on Kris’ lap.

Beth walked down the halls, searching frantically. 'Where did that cute little Kitten go, it was here a moment ago' she thought. She was just about to abort her search when she heard a loud meow coming from the student lounge. Hesistently, she pushed the door open and looked inside. She was startled to see a fifth year slytherin boy cuddling the small kitten in his large hands. She pushed the large wooden door completely open and examined the two creatures a while before saying anything. "There you are, cutie," she blushed a little realizing that she hadn't specified which one of them she talking about and then quickly corrected herself, "The kitten, I mean." She walked closer to the two, wondering if the kitten still had the sliver stuck in it's tiny paw. "Is he ok now?" she asked hoping the Slytherin wouldn't mind her conversing with him. "I saw him out by the lake and he was limping, he ran away when I tried to help him though," she paused for a moment before continuing, "I think he had a sliver," she finished. She reached her hand towards the kitten and began to rub softly behind his ears, she smiled as his purr got louder. "He's adorable, is he yours?" Beth asked. She looked at the boy waiting for an answer as she continued to pet the kitten in his lap.

Bridget walked around the castle, looking for her kitten, Max. He has to be here somewhere! She looked under a few random chairs as several students in the hall stared at her. She gave them a smile and continued on her search. She went out on the Grounds and looked around the lake; that was where Max usually went. Seeing on sign of him, Bee jogged back into the castle. There was one place she hadn't looked yet. The Student Lounge was her next stop. She heard a muffled sound coming from the room- purring, no doubt. Bee headed toward the noise and found Max safe and sound in a boy's lap. A girl was petting Max behind the ears, which was his favorite place to be rubbed. The kitten saw Bee and jumped lightly from the boy's lap. He trotted toward her and started rubbing against her legs. She picked him up gently and cuddled him in her arms. "There you are, rascal." She told him with an edge to her voice. She laughed and heard Max start purring. She looked at the other two and gasped as if she had never seen them before. The girl was in Ravenclaw and seemed to be younger than Bee. She wasn't the reason Bee had gasped. It was the boy, an older boy who looked oddly familiar... Kris was his name. She remembered the night when she had bumped into him on her little escapade of the dungeons. It hadn't been very pleasant. "Hello there. I see you've met Max." Bee said, as the black kitten jumped out of her arms and onto Kris's lap again. She was surprised Max was purring; she thought cats could sense evil. But of course, this boy wasn't evil, Bee had just had a bad experience with him, nothing more. ((Hope you don't mind me saying that the kitten is Bee's. She does have a little kitten that enjoys being around people... ))

Kris’s hands were smoothing the kittens fur again when some girl greeted rather cheerily. ‘There you are, cutie’ were words that most certainly made Kris look up and raise an eye-brow upon seeing a young girl. Maybe a first or second year. Probably a second year. Kris had been called cute or god-looking before, but not by kids this young. The girl seemed to realize her bad choice of words quickly though and corrected herself with a blush. Kris eyed the girl without a word – she had been one of those girl playing truth or dare with Dana the other day in the courtyard.
Just then the kitten jumped from Kris’s arms and ran to a Gryffindor that had entered – this one Kris had ran into earlier in the school-year. The kitten seemed to be hers certainly. The kitten jumped off from her arms – Bee was her name, Kris thought – and climbed back onto Kris’s lap once again starting to purr and nudging Kris’ hand with his head to get Kris to pet him again. “First you don’t know your place out of Slytherin territory and now you can’t even care for your kitten,” Kris drawled out with sarcasm and raising the splinter he had pulled out from the kittens leg, “Maybe I should let you yourself walk around with this stuck in your leg for a while. You don’t seem to be any good at all. Then again – maybe I am expecting too much from a Gryffindor.” The splinter was surprisingly long and most certainly had been painful for the kitten. Max. Kris threw the splinter into the fire-place before fixing his cold look on the Ravenclaw girl.
“And as ‘cute’ as I am try to control yourself and keep your distance from me,” Kris said with a lazy arch of his eye-brow and an almost unnoticeable curve of his lips before looking down where the kitten was trying to climb up his shirt.

Bee watched as Max nudged Kris's hands. She shook her head in amazement. What did Kris do to make Max trust him so much? The answer was clear when Kris held up a splinter. He said something about her being irresponsible. Bee looked at him wide eyed but didn't say anything. I'm not irresponsible! Max always strolls on the Grounds by himself, it's not like it's out of the ordinary. He just happened to get hurt this time. Bee smiled and shook her head.
"It appears that I was wrong about you. I thought you were uncaring and arrogant. Of course, you still are arrogant, but at least you care for something or another. Max seems to trust you a lot." A pang of jealousy crept to Bee's heart, but she fought it down. She knew that Max liked her better than anyone, but Kris was coming pretty close. She sighed and looked down. "Max is quite intelligent, as I hope you have noticed. He knows what he's doing most of the time. But, I must thank you for getting the splinter out." She clenched her hands together, but said nothing more. I can't believe I thanked a Slytherin! That's just wrong. But he did take care of Max, which I have to be grateful for.

Beth scowled at the boy as she heard his rude comment towards her. She noticed the curl in his lip and wanted to puke. 'why do slytherin behave so absurdly' she thought, already knowing the answer. "Excuse me," she said in an annoyed tone, "Don't flatter yourself, I wasn't referring to you as cute, not by an stretch of the imagination." She smiled proudly as she thought she saw the boy look taken back by her attitude. She may be a ravenclaw, but she didn't take attitude.

((Don’t godmode me, Elizabeth. You don’t have a clue how Kris will react to your words, so you can’t put it that I looked taken back))
Kris smirked: “I am arrogant but I have every right to be. After all I’m not some mudblood or half-blood.” Kris’s eyes fell onto the kitten. He had always had an amazing contact with animals and all animals. In the absence of a better word it was almost magical. And animals brought out the better side in Kris. He didn’t mind it – in Kris’s opinion animals were often better than humans. That was half of the reason why he often preferred the Forbidden Forest to the school and all the students there. But being thanked by a Gryffindor for something Kris did naturally – now that was something Kris didn’t want. There was a very good reason why Kris was in Slytherin.
“A Gryffindor thanking me?” Kris drawled out in mock-horror, “The youth of today certainly has gone bad.” Picking Max up by the skin on his neck Kris dropped him on the ground next to the armchair he was sitting in. The kitten meowed loudly as a protest and rubbed against Kris’s feet for a moment before trotting towards Bridget again. Hearing the Ravenclaw’s words Kris was forced to suppress a smirk. He had had his fair share of girlfriends, who had had the exact contrary opinion, but he just clicked his tongue and eyed her with cold amusement: “Glad to hear you don’t find me attractive. I don’t deal with kids anyway.” Picking up his book once again – Dana wanted it back tonight – but not opening it just yet, Kris raised a curious eye-brow at the two girls, wondering what their reactions would be.

((I am sorry, I phrased it differently than I wanted to which made it come out wrong, I have fixed it.))
Elizabeth glared at the boy as he mentioned 'Mudbloods'. "You have no right," She spewed angrily, "At least being a muggle born means I was was chosen, not just handed acceptance in a DNA strand. Foul little git," she finished. She was appaled by the way she was acting, she never usually disrespected those older than her, he had really angered her. "And if you're so keen on calling me a kid, why don't you stop acting like a five year old before telling others how young they are. Not everything is in body, mind is more important than any. Possibly that's why a brute liek yourself wasn't chosen as a ravenclaw," She glared at him before walking to a bookshelf to grab a book, "idiot" she murmered.

Bee glared at Kris as he dropped Max onto the floor. After a few moments of protesting, Max ran back to Bee, who picked him up. He started to purr, but not very loud. Bee tucked a stray strand of blonde hair behind her ear before talking. "Well, what would you have preferred than, a insult or a thank you?" Bee gave him another glare but felt uncomfortable when the Ravenclaw girl left. She was left with a Slytherin fifth year. She hoped that the girl would come back. Kris seemed to be reading a very interesting book; either that or he was simply bored of lack of conversation. Bee shifted uneasily on her feet, Max bobbing around in her arms. She decided to go sit down the seat opposite Kris, so she could see him but not be too close to him.
"So..um..." Bee struggled to find a conversation that would go well with him. Her thoughts landed on Dana. "I met Dana a while ago and she told me something about being a pureblood. Like, she thought she was a halfblood but she really was a pureblood. How did that happen?" Bee knew it was a lame start to a conversation, but it was better than just the ringing silence. She knew that Kris might hit her with sly comments, so she mentally braced herself for anything he was going to throw at her.

Kris eyed the second year Ravenclaw and felt his lip-corner twitch. The urge to laugh at her was almost too great. “Mind is in many ways stronger than the body, but is your mind developed enough to try and challenge mine?” Kris asked with amusement evident in his voice. For the briefest of seconds the Sorting hat had thought about putting him in Ravenclaw. But had changed his mind almost immediately and Kris had been sorted into his true house – Slytherin – very quickly. But Kris always managed rather nicely with his classes, despite his rather hectic appearance in them.
Switching his attention to Bridget, Kris smirked: “I don’t want thanking from a Gryffindor. And doubt you’re good enough to try and insult me.” It was the Gryffindors next question that made Kris’s eyes burn with disgust that wasn’t completely turned onto the Gryffindor. “And what makes you so nosy about the backgrounds of other people?” Kris snapped with a hiss, before breathing in. Dana would probably have his scull if he made these girls cry. “Her worthless mother ran off with someone clearly below her own level. There were a couple of misunderstandings about Dana’s father as he worked as some muggle. The misunderstandings weren’t completely cleared up until quite recently,” Kris forced out through gritted teeth. If Dana wanted to be friendly with just anyone – Kris could live with that. But he wasn’t too charmed of the idea of having to be nice and having chit-chat with them himself.

Bee stared at him. What kind of question is that? What makes me so nosy? "Well, everyone seems to look at my background, so why can't I look at other people's?" she snapped. Bee was surprised at the story, however, but she tried not to show it. She rubbed Max's behind the ears, her face blank. She wasn't going to look up at him; she just wasn't. "So...um...does Dana live with her mother or...?" Bee asked the floor, over Max's purring. She knew that this could make Kris angry at her again, but what's the matter with curiosity? Curiosity kills the cat. Bee thought glumly as Max stood up and started to climb the chair. She wanted him to stay with her; he was her confidence boost. Max seemed to like the top of the armchair; Bee could hear him walking around on top of it. She sighed and sank farther into her chair, hoping Kris wouldn't break out in a hissing fit again.
