Nathaniel pushed open the doors to the student lounge, with a sigh. He was very bored today, and needed to do something. He looked around the lounge, and didn't see anybody that he reconized. The lounge wasn't as crowded as it usually was, and that was good, because he didn't do very well around big crowds of people.
He soon found an empty couch, right next to the blazing fire. It was around 5:30 in the evening, and it was beginning to get just a bit cold outside, and since he had just came in from outside, the warmth of the fire against him felt very nice.
Nathaniel was rather bored tonight, in paticular, and although he perferred to have company, there was nothing better to do, so he pulled out a book that he had started reading during the summer. The book was getting rather interesting, and he was anxious to continue reading, to see what would happen next. He paused from reading as he looked up to watch the fire. It was very relaxing and peaceful looking, and he liked it.
Everything was quiet, except for the faint noise of students chattering, and the cracking of the fire. Since everything was rather silent, he jumped slightly, in suprise when he heard footsteps next to him. He turned to look for the noise, although he knew that it was going to be a fellow student, he was just curious to see who it was. When he turned up, he saw someone that faintly looked familier, although he didn't know the person very well. "Oh, hello." he said.

Katherine walked into the Student Lounge with a sigh of relief. She had just come out of her Common Room, and everyone in all of Hufflepuff seemed to be there. It was too loud for Katherine who was trying to study a Charms textbook from the library. It was complicated and most likely meant for someone older, but Katherine struggled through it. Katherine tried the first spell that seemed easy enough to cast. She tried to summon a small pillow from a chair that nobody was sitting in.
"Accio pillow," Katherine said. Nothing happened. "Accio pillow," she repeated with more force this time. The pillow moved an inch toward her. Maybe she was imagining it. She tried to keep from getting frustrated and took a deep breath. "Accio pillow," she repeated again. It shot off in the opposite direction. "Uggghhhh..." Katherine moaned to herself. It's supposed to summon, not repel.
Katherine gave up. She walked across the room to pick it up, but she decided to try one last time. She tried standing a yard away from it. "Accio pillow," she said quietly to herself. Once again, the pillow shot across the room, but this time with more speed. Katherine was afraid it would go right into the fireplace because that's where it was heading, but instead it bounced gently off of a sofa right in front of in. Katherine walked across the room to pick it up when she realized there was a boy sitting in the sofa it'd hit. He turned to look at her and said hello.
"Hi," she said quickly as she bent over to get the pillow. Embarrassed and at a loss for words she told him, "Summoning charm gone awry." She smiled to cover up her embarrassment though it was probably given away by her blushing.

Nathaniel laughed slightly at the girl when she explained that a summoning charm had gone wrong. Of course, he wasn't laughing at her, but with her. After the girl seemed to not be so embarressed any more, and she was smiling, Nathaniel held out his hand to the girl. "Hello there. I'm Nathaniel Benson, Hufflepuff fourth year. Hmm... well, you look slightly familier... in the house of the badger as well?" he mused, a smile playing across his lips. Nathaniel was usually shy and quiet, but he was simply bored, and he didn't want to drive maybe his only company for the night, away, because he didn't talked much. He ran his hand through his light brown, shaggy hair, as the bangs flipped back over, into his eyes. Each time he did that, the result was the same, so Nathaniel got used to it after his second year, when he mother advised him to get his hair cut this paticular way. "So..." he started, trying to make conversation. He shrugged and said, "You know, you can have a seat, if you like. I don't mind, and I surely don't expect you to stand." he said, with a smile tugging at the cornor of his mouth, as he gestured to the empty place beside him, of course, not right beside him, but there was two couch cushions of room left, and he figured that she had received the point that he meant. ((Sorry it's so bad, I couldn't think of anything else to say. ))
