Jaquin strolled across the green lawns of Hogwarts grounds as he headed back up towards the castle, still in his Ravenclaw Quidditch uniform. It had been a long, arduous practice, but, their endeavors to ameliorate the team's strategy and skills were very successful. He watched as the sun began sinking below the lake and watched the amalgamation of red and orange turn into a purplish blue. With a rather apathetic face, Jaquin turned back towards the path and arrived back at Main Entrance, stepping up from the cobblestone ground onto polished marble. To his right was a chamber leading into the Great Hall where he could hear the tumultuous laughter of students just beginning to eat the ever-sumptuous dinners. There was another chamber and hall that led to the Cellars, Kitchens, and the Hufflepuff dormitories. On his left were sever staircases leading down into the dungeons that reflected only melancholy. Keen to avoid the raucous students filing into the Great Hall, Jaquin ran up the marble stairs away from the prodigiouis cacophony of loqacious conversations and headed towards the courtyard and the student lounge.
Jaquin strode into the Student Lounge, where solitude could be found as the sky turned Cimmerian. Perhaps he could rest up there. It was mercifully empty, or so Jaquin thought......

Night was setting around the school as if a sheet was falling over the hills taking the castle under with it. Sydney was let out of Charms early, due to the fact a first year set the curtains on fire. Of course accidentally. Walking from her charms class, Syd stopped in front of a window and watched the sun set. It was beautiful. She loved sun sets, and sun rises- they were the prettiest things she has ever seen. As the sun seemed to fall behind the west hill, she made her way around the hallways.
Dinner was where most students went at this time, but Sydney herself wasnt hungery. Strolling around the school, she smiled at a few paintings as they waved to her. The smallest things in life always were worth recognizing. Details, life was full of them- and most people merely glance over them. Syd adored them.
Minutes passed as Sydney seemed to be in her own world as she walked around the castle. Finnally, she found herself at a doorway leading towards the student lounge. With a smile, she walked in. A few students, randomly placed sat around. No one really she knew. Walking alone, towards the windows Sydney pulled back one of the maroon crushed velvet curtains and looked outside, over the lawns The sky was dim, a cool shade of dark blue was skimming the sky. But, the stars were not out yet. Turning around she noticed a lone wooden back chair. Pulling towards her, she placed it next to the window. Holding the curtain back, she sat down. Crossing her arms on the window seal she relaxed and stared up into the sky a waiting the first star of the night.
Breathing in deeply, she exhaled and closed her eyes. She thought of a wish- a wish on the first star she saw. Finding one she would call for tonight, she slowly opened her glimmering blue eyes. Suddenly, a single glimmering star appeared in her sight. Her eyes widdened as she smiled and quickly made her wish. As quickly as she noticed the star, that was as fast her wish was given.
Turning around, with a small grin on her face, she noticed a new commer into the lounge. Jaquin Prokenstien, a very intelligent and friendly Ravenclaw. He was one year older than her, year 6 that is. Tilting her head slightly to the right, she chuckled to herself. "Hey there!" she said sweetly trying to catch his attention. "Ever wish on a star?" she said as she paused for a moment. Picking up her right hand, she pushed a strand of strawberry blonde hair out of her eyes, and tucked it neatly behind her ear. Laughing she went on, "Childish, I know..." she said with her normal welcoming smile, as she looked in his eyes, starting to push a conversation.

Jaquin had been rather disconcerted when he found that the student lounge was not as empty as he thought is was. However, he ignored the fact and enjoyed the solitude with a euphoric attitude. Leaning back in a soft chair, Jaquin glanced outside as clouds rumbled in a choleric atomosphere and began covering the starry sky. He watched as the sky was engulfed in a stretch of Cimmerian clouds. Thunder boomed and lightning flashed as a cacophony from the tumultuous storm was created. The moon was only a patch of silver through the darkened sky. He returned to his novel, which was a muggle novel called The Selfish Gene, which was a very intriguing book that discussed genetics. Compelled by the book Jaquin was transported into his own world if literature and forgot his surroundings, as they became obscured by an inner voice reading the profound words that came from the book. However, something seemed to nag at his affinity for linguistics and that brought Jaquin back into the present.
He looked up to see a pretty girl, who looked as if she were in her 5th year. Jaquin glanced at her Gryffindor badge and immediately recognized her. She was Sydney Rawson, someone whom Kamron had befriended. He had heard much about her from his friend. Jaquin watched as she approached him and looked out to see the choleric clouds dissapear and instead appeared a starry, quiescent night. He replied as she asked if he ever wished upon a star, "Yes... As a matter of fact, I have wished upon a star before. Of course, that was only to bring me good luck on a test. However, the only thing I believe in is science. You see, the star you wish upon were only anomolies in the ancient world in which people thought had special powers. Most of what you see tonight are gargantuan configurations of burning helium, which was created from hydrogen fusing together. Eventually, the star burns out and from that enormous release of gravity, it collapses to form a giant explosion. That is what you see after several mellenia....." Jaquin pointed out an open window towards a particularly bright star.
"So, how have you been? I've heard much about you from Kamron. I'm sure you know him. He is a very bright Ravenclaw who undoubtely has a great future in the mechanics of psychology," Jaquin inquired with a small smile.

For a moment, Jaquin went on about stars. Slightly trailing off, she nodded as he spoke. She heard everything he said- but didnt understand it. Not trying to see stupid or anything she grinned and replied. "Yeaaa.."
Soon after, he spoke of Kamron. Blushing slightly Sydney couldnt hold back a smile. "Yeah, I know that kid pretty well, I suppose." She said a little embarassed. Thinking in her head, his words played again. "What have you heard about me?" She asked as she crossed her right leg over her left, and crossed her arms. "What does mister Leopold say about his friend, the Gryffindor?" Sydney inched on with a grin, trying to get information out of Jaquin.
A moment passed as Sydney took a breath. A few other students walked into the room, as they went towards a working table. Watching them, she notice she took a chair from there which was needed by the large group. Standing up, she pushed the wooden chair towards them, "Here, no trouble at all." She said with a smile as a younger hufflepuff took the chair from her, with a thankyou. Turning around, She saw empty blue plush chair, opposite Jaquin free. Walking towards it, she sat down and looked at Jaquin, waiting for some kind of keen reply.

"Well, in truth.... He hasn't mentioned much about you, other than your great personality," Jaquin said with a small chuckle. He had in fact just seen his amiable friend, Kamron just the past night. Jaquin felt as if his friend would always discourse social issues interminably, which was intriguing in Jaquin's eyes. However, he had never paid much attention to those subjects and matters. Jaquin had only heard of Sydney through the brief conversations they had during lunch. Compelled to learn more about his new acquantaince, Jaquin inquired, "So, how is Hogwarts for you? What subject interests you the most? Are you interested in Herbology? What would you consider to be your best subject?"
Hoping that he did not sound too much like an interviewer, Jaquin turned his attention to the tumultuous cacophony created by the students that had begun filtering into the Student Lounge as they finished their sumptuous dinners. He heard the raucous laughter and incessant yelling that always caused him irritation. Jaquin watched the fire flicker as he waited for Sydney to respond. The penumbrae splashed across the oaken floor was mesmerizing as it swayed from side to side. He turned his attention towards the derilect courtyard just ouside the windows of the lounge. Jaquin wondered why the courtyard was so vacant. Afterall, the interminable winter had finally melted away into spring. The night air was no longer crisp and cold; was now filled with multifarious odors, both malodorous and sweet. "Have you ever played Quidditch?" Jaquin asked suddenly.

Sydney nodded. She knew she placed Jaquin in the spot when she asked what Kamron was saying about her. She decided to drop the Kamron subject. She understood she hardly talked about Kam, so why would she liked to be talked about. Jaquin soon after talking about Kam, asked Sydney a quite a few questions- all in a row. For a second she rose her eye bows in amazment. Laughing she smiled and started, "Lets see now... Question #1." she said slightly mocking him. "Well, I really like Hogwarts. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else! My whole family has been going here. Im just carring on the tradition." She said as she shifted her weight in the chair. "Im quite fond of Charms and Defence against the Dark Arts. No real reason, just seems I excell in those the most. Herbology is alright. Not one of my favorite classes though. Madam Sprout doesnt seem to like me too much." she said as she shrugged again.
Pausing for a moment she asked him, "How about yourself? You are a brillantly bright, what are your major subjects?" She said passing a truely honest compliment.
Soon the two were on the subject of Quidditch. Sydney never adored playing the game, but loved to watch it. With a smile she said, "Ive practiced with my sister, Daria, before. I'm not too into playing the game though. Never really was good at it. Daria so far got all of those traits. She is on the team- Tutshill Tornados. If your not big on Quidditch they are a the ones in the light blue robes with a dark blue double T." Sydney nodded as she made sure she was correct on her discription. She was a Qudditch Fan, big fan! She liked the school games- but didn't pay much attention. "You play Quidditch right? Whats your position?" she asked as she rememebered seeing him one day in his uniform.

"Well, not as brilliant as some people....-cough-Hermione-cough- However, you could say that I'm pretty good at Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, Astronomy, and muggle biology and stuff like that. I have some 'skills' in dueling and Defense Against the Dark Arts. I'm all right at potions, but I'm horrible at History of Magic and Divination. I didn't do to well on those in my O.W.L.s," Jaquin said with a serious tone after listening to Sydney's reply. He glanced outside and looked at the glistening strands of water hit the soft grass on the Courtyard and looked up to see the moon disappear under multitudinous layers of blackened clouds. He could still hear the distant clanking of glass against metal as the students dined on a sumptuous dinner in the gargantuan Great Hall. Jaquin turned back towards Sydney as she answered his question about Quidditch.
With a tilt of his head, Jaquin replied, "Well, I play as beater on the Ravenclaw team, which takes a lot of practice, but, I probably won't make it into the professional level unless I really try. I mean, knocking another player off his or her broom is satisfying when you're greatly angered. However, it is not as fun when your fellow player becomes injured or fatally wounded. Of course, Quidditch has its fun side. I personally enjoy flying at high speeds and I often race with my friends in America. They have flashy attitudes and are great companions when it comes to any broom sport. You should see their latest model. They call it The Meteorite and it's almost as good as The Firebolt..... Yes, I've heard of the Tutshill Tornados... Why, they are my favorite team!! I never knew that your sister was on the team! What position does she play?" He was eager for an answer and waited patiently for Sydney to reply.

(( I am back now! ))
Sydney listened as Jaquin said he wasn't too big on Quidditch, but he liked it as a pass time. "Daria, she is a keeper. Her and Jack Turner- they both switch each game just to make sure that if they get hurt they can get better, and visa versa." Sydney paused as she blushed as she talked about Daria. She wasn't one to brag about her sister- but she was very proud of her. Remembering back, he spoke of America. "You've gone to America? I've always wanted to go. Do you go to wizard or muggle America?" Syd asked as she sat in wonder. They had a wonderful culture. She of course adored England, as well as Ireland, but traveling was always enjoyable.
"The closest I've been to America was the Bahamas last summer vacation. My whole family, Mark Trego, and I all went. It was fun. But- thats as close as Ive been. Not so close now as I remember where we were." Syd laughed slightly at herself as she just spit out a stupid comment. Shrugging it off. She waited for her time to speak.

"Well I have associated with the muggle world there, in the US. However, I never got the chance to really meet everyone from every class: upper, middle, and lower. It is a bit shameful, really for people to classify themselves that way. However, that's just how life works, sometimes. Anyways, you won't believe how many haunted houses they have in the New England region. One of my American wizarding friends from Salem Witches School for Witchcraft and Wizardry showed me a very old house where a pilgriming wizard's ghost still resides. They named him Old Hickory, because he was murdered during one of the witch and sorcerer hunting seasons. He of course would not have died if only he had his wand with him. It was a bit ironic, really. I mean, usually, being caught with a wand or broomstick would spell death by bludgeoning. They usually hoped to be sentenced for burning or drowning because they could use bubble head charms and fire repelling charms. Of course, another way to get away from over-paranoid muggles could be to disapparate to a remote, much safer location," Jaquin replied enthusiastically as he told Sydney accounts of his adventures with his American wizarding and non-wizarding friends. After he finished reminiscing those great times he had spent with his friends, Jaquin quieted down and waited for Sydney to reply.
