March was in place here at Hogwarts. Spring was on its way, but the weather was chilly and rainy out. Well wasn't that what spring was suppose to be about? Raining, mud, winds, and thunderstorms. Well this day was a rainy a rainy day for the students. Jasmine found herself in the student lounge looking into the fire and a book in hand. The book was called "Seabiscuit, An American legend." Jasmine loved all books of kinds. Some from the wizarding world and others from the world she grew up in. She also loved horses very much and kept a horse at a near by stable where her Aunt worked. Rosalind Martinez was a vet for big and small animals in London. Jasmine lived on the out skirts and in a very small town where everyone knew everyone. Jasmine wasn’t considered poor, but working class.
Opening up the book to the beginning Jasmine glued her eyes on it and continued to read. Seabiscuit was her all time favorite race horse ever. Even know he was dead, the story that was behind that pony was inspiring. A horse that could not breathe right, and a limp when he ran, winning almost all races in the West in the United States. Back then racing and cars were important then. Howard Huse was the first to improve the automobile and sold many great cars. But his life wasn’t prefect. His first wife left him after their child had died and she married another moment in Mexico, were they bought the race horse Seabiscuit. "We did not change our own lives. That little horse changed it for us." Jasmine read out loud as what the back had said. That sounded so beautiful and she wished that she cold go back in that time period and really know what it was like.
For what seemed like minutes were hours. Jasmine had crossed and recrosses her legs and turned page to page. Her hazel eyes still glued on the book as she continued on. In her mind reading was a way to escape from the world and just be one with the book. It also seemed to be a way Jasmine could cope with her shyness. Only around large groups would she shy away. Jasmine was not found of that trait, but she couldn’t change it. Well she could but that would take time, and Hogwarts was full of many students who wanted new friends. Sighing, Jasmine turned the page and continued on with her reading.

Dana grabbed a mug of hot chocolate from the kitchens and sipping on it slowly, walked towards the student lounge. The weather outside was absolutely horrifying. Rainy, chilly, muddy, cloudy… Dana shuddered at the thought. She was an active person found outside dancing or doing something sporty as often as inside with her nose in a book. A trait not very regular among Ravenclaws, but it suited Dana and her personality. Dana shivered a little and berated herself for not grabbing a sweater from the common room, as she entered the student lounge, coming nose to nose with her cousin Kris, even though they were rather like brother and sister. Kris’s eyes flashed as the cousins exchanged a couple of words in quiet French after which Kris pulled off his black sweater and handing it to Dana, walked out of the room wearing only a thin T-shirt. Dana placed her mug on a table beside her and slipped the sweater over her head, feeling warmer already. Kris and Dana were really close, even though few people knew it. If you knew how to handle him, Kris was actually a rather nice guy under his rough appearance. Smiling and enjoying the touch of expensive cashmere Dana rolled up the sleeves a bit, as the sweater was to big for her, coming to rest at her mid-thighs almost. It was warm though and made from the best material available – Dana knew that Kris wouldn’t settle for anything else. Wrapping her fingers around her cup, Dana took one more drink while sweeping the lounge with a quick glance. Noticing Jasmine sitting near the fire with a book in her hands, Dana made her way over with a small smile. “Hey,” Dana smiled softly at Jasmine, feeling relaxed and comfortable. And already getting warmer as she curled up in a deep armchair next to Jasmine before tilting her head, so she saw the title of the book Jasmine was reading. “Seabiscuit, An American legend,” Dana quoted and grinned broadly. She had read a lot, with her grand-parents owning 5 book-stores in the magical world and one in the muggle world, and this particular book was no exception, “I loved it. Winning all those races with that many physical mistakes? That horse really showed what determination and a strong character is about in my opinion. What do you think of the book so far?” Dana asked with a broad smile – she liked horses, even though she had never had the time nor opportunity to spend more time with them or go riding. She was supposed to do so in summer though, as she would visit a friend, who owned some horses. ((All god-moding in this post is done with permission to do so )

Jasmine smiled as she turned the page of her book. The noise around her faded away and it was only her and the book. A little world she called her own. A world where she could be and no one would notice her. Jasmine loved the way books took over her and how she can read so long and so much. She read almost about a zillion books in her life all fictional and non fiction. So many books were out there unseen and untouched and ready for her to read them. It was a crazy thought but Jasmine never really cared. Growing up around books and music was just part of her custom. Jasmine's mother was a music teacher and taught her daughter how to play the piano and sing correctly. Her father was a bassoons man who that taught her so many muggle things.
Trying to push the thought of her old life behind she noticed that Dana came up to her and asked about the book. Closing it light and showing her friend the cover she smiled and said, "I am just started reading it again. I absolutely adore the little horse with the big heart. Some times I wish I could actually go back in time and really be in that time period. What about you Dana what have you been reading lately?" Looking at Dana she smiled and crossed her legs and set the book down with one hand on the cover.

“Me? Just finished reading ‘Lovely Bones’ and then ‘Tom Sawyer’,”Dana answered with a smile, feeling comfort and warmth wash over her, “A bit childish book – the last one, but I liked Tom Sawyer. Liked him a as a kid and still do. He was care-free, a bit of a prankster, clever, witty and still had a good sense of right and wrong.” Dana smiled wondering if she maybe liked the book character so much because of some similarities in their characters. “I’ve returned to children’s books and fairy-tales lately for some reason. And for some reason I like them even more now than I once did. Maybe because now I’m able to see and understand what the heros and heroines in the stories were like, what they might have felt or thought. But now I appreciate those books even more,” Dana said with a small smile, not really knowing how to explain it, but hoping Jasmine caught her point, “Besides it’s easy and calming to read them between all the reviewing for the O.W.L.s.”
Dana curled up pulling her knees up and inside Kris’s sweater as well as she wrapped her arms around her knees and leaned her chin on her knees as well, smiling softly. It was actually rather surprising to see Dana this calmly sitting at one point and without a book: “To live in an other time period? If you could live at some other time, which time would it be? And why? Is it because you want to see something important taking place or because you yourself want to do something?” Dana fell silent, before adding one more final question that suddenly sprang into her mind: “Do you believe in reincarnations?”
