It was evening, and the sun was just about to fall behind the farthest hill. The castle fell under a calm feeling as each floor was comfortable with a warm feeling coming from each fireplace. The hallways were dimmly lit- as shaddows danced on the walls, as if past ghosts were having a get together. Sydney Rawson walked out of the Gryffindor tower with an odd look about her. Dressed out of her school uniform, she wore a comfortable maroon cloak, around a dark skirt, and a dark long sleeve top. Her hair was not up, it seemed it fit her mood; down.
Walking across the floor, she walked down a few flights as she turned on to her desired floor. Taking a breath, Sydney arrived to the student lounge. Walking in, it was occupied by a few students. Not nearly as many that were normally in there directly after classes.
The room was warm and filled with many different things. The flames in the fire place burned wildly, as the warmth jumped off of all the walls. There were plush chairs, along with wooden ones. There were two couches with miscellaneous pillows and blankets hung over the back and arm rests. Two tables had wizard's chess set up- ready for a game. There also was a huge book shelf that streched the length of the opposing wall. It seemed as if over two books were at anyone's finger tips.
Syd grinned to herself, as she took a seat on a plush couch in front of the fireplace. Setting a medium size pillow on her lap, she wrapped her arms around it as she gazed into the fireplace- deep in thought. The one main thing that seemed to be riding Sydney's brain to the bone was her encounter in Arithmancy class, earlier that day. She had no idea what to think about Harry's out burst, let alone- who it was about. Sydney knew better than Professor Vector, Harry gained her trust when she was in her first year; when he saved Ginny. Sydney closed her eyes as she took a deep breath, she needed to calm down. She deffinatly wasnt used to this 'low' state of mind- she normally was a happy energetic person. But right now- it seemeds as if Sydney wasnt herself.

Kamron had made his way down to the student lounge right after dinner with two other students from his own house. They were gathered in one corner talking about studies and quidditch when he heard the door to the lounge open once more and felt a rush of cool air flood into the room. He looked over his shoulder at the door to see a fifth year Gryffindor make her way inside and towards a couch near the fire. His gaze was settled on her for a long moment before he looked back at the Ravenclaws, and told them that he had to talk to someone and he could catch them later in the common room. That said he pushed himself up and made his way across the crowded room towards the Gryffindor.
Upon reaching the couch he sat down beside her, his gaze having settled on her he stayed silent for a moment before he spoke. He had seen her in Arithmancy class earlier that day, but they hadn’t been able to exchange more than a hello smile. Then after Harry Potter’s statement, there was enough confusion so he never even saw her after class. Normally, Sydney was an extraordinarily lighthearted person, yet down, by the deep expression on her face, it was easy to see that her mood was more melancholy this night.
He stretched a hand out and touched the back of her hand, still looking at her as he did. “Sydney…do you want to talk?”<br>

Sitting alone for a few moment, Sydney gathered her thoughts. Glazing into the fire she saw out of the corner of her eye someone sit down next to her. Turning to see who it was- a smile appeared on her face. It was Kamron. The ravenclaw boy, whom she had a crush on. Seeing him made her smile. He paused before he spoke to her. Touching the back of her hand, Syd looked at him in his eyes and shrugged her shoulders. Lokking back at the fire, she moved her weight on the couch. She turned towards Kam, as she left her legs fall off the couch.
Holding the pillow still at her chest, She spoke. "I dont know, really. Im just thinking. About Arithmancy class today." Sydney didnt want to say anything that would catch anyone else's attention. This time was for her and Kamron- not to be interrupted by anyone. In a tone slightly softer than her normal voice she said, "I trust him, but... I dont want attacks to happen again." Sydney's eyes filled with worry, she was a Gryffindor- her house would probably be targeted if anything happened. She wasnt trying to be selfish- she just didnt want un-neccisary actions to happen.
Leaning into Kamron, she spoke. "He spoke of a kidnapping. Hermione is still here, As well as Ron. Ginny is home. I heard about that from Hermione a few weeks ago." shaking her head she looked towards her right side into the jumping flames. She sighed as she turned back to Kamron. "Maybe I shouldnt get myself all worked up. Dumbledore told us all about Ginny when she was taken. Wouldnt he have said something if there was a new kidnapping?"
ydney questioned herself as she looked at Kamron. She had been talking for the past few minutes- alone. She didnt want to bore him. With a weak grin she said, "Sorry, I'll stop." as she looked into his eyes with apathy.

It was almost obvious that the crush was mutual—almost. Neither one of them actually said anything, nor took the plunge and did anything. Instead they danced around any feelings and were teetering along the line of friends and more than friends. To him, she was an escape from himself, and from reality. He always looked for a deeper meaning in this, trying to analyze every detail, when she just did what made her happy. That said, he didn’t like seeing her so concerned, and like a sharp pain of reality, he wanted to do whatever it took to comfort her.
He leaned against the back of the couch as she started to speak, listening to her words as his mind tried to think through their meaning and what he could do to ease her concern. It was true that Arithmancy had caused a bit of discomfort among some of the students, and it seemed to him that the Gryffindors seemed to be the hardest hit. In his opinion it was that Harry Potter was “one of their own.” His own house mates would be the one’s who had the greatest knowledge of him, as well as his greatest trust, resulting in them being the ones who had the greatest apprehension about his statement about the kidnapping.
When she said that she didn’t want attacks to happen again, he stretched a hand out and put it on her shoulder as a subtle way of comfort, letting it remain there until she was done and apologized for how much talking she was doing.
“You don’t have to apologize for anything. If what Harry Potter said has bothered you this much then you should express it. Its understandable though. I don’t know Harry well myself, but he seems to have always been honest with his actions in the past. Perhaps he has some divination powers that we are unaware of.”

As Kamron spoke, Sydney nodded at his responce. "Maybe. I have no idea." She said as she looked away. She thought to herself about his powers. She was envious. She would love to have powers by using her mind! But, Harry of course was granted that gift. With a 'what- ever' side look about her, she glanced at Kamron.
Sydney's outlook was very on the edge. She was in an upset mood, something no one ever sees her in. And of course the person who shows up to this show is Kamron Leopold, the one she would hate to show her feelings of aggression towards. This ment that she needed watch her tone and body language when it came this specific evening. Looking towards Kamron, she spoke- "Do you trust him?" it was a blunt question but she wanted a solid answer. She belived Harry, but she wasnt sure to what extent.
Basically- Sydney was confused and not sure what to do. She didnt want another Kidnapping- but she would hate to catch Harry in a lie. After a seconds pause, Sydney looked away as she crossed her arms at her chest and looked towards the ground.

He let out a deep sign at her question, letting his gaze fall slightly as he remained silent for a moment. Her question spun in his head for a moment 'Do you trust him?' Such a topic as trust was not one to be taken upon lightly. When it came to Harry Potter, there always seemed a bit of tension around it as well. The boy always seemed to have the best of intentions. He kept to himself most of the time, either that or with Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. At the same time though, he did always seem to be in the tick of things. Was it simple coinsidence? Or was it something deeper than that. It was truth that Harry was far from normal, the scar on his forehead was proof of that, but all disasterous situations did seem to involve him.
Time had passed, and he still hadn't answered the question, finally he looked back up at Sydney. "Thats not an easy question to answer. As a simple student, I'm not sure I can. From a psychological point of view, I am more inclined to say yes though. His actions in the past were not displaying the characteristics of someone involved in the things that have been happening at Hogwarts."
He paused for a moment, watching her. It was a complicated issue to explore. It was a type of psychology he read about over the summer that the athorities used in order to help distinguish crimanals from the innocent. It explored body language and behavior to determan how truthful one was being, and then taking it further to get an idea of the inclination of their actions. Harry always seemed to be filled with a dread when something came up at Hogwarts, a different dread than the other students, but it was not the same type of behavior as one who was involved on the inside would display.

Watching and listening, Kamron explained his view on what happened with Harry. Nodding, he was correct, he wasnt the type of person who would want to inflict pain on the whole school. "Understandable." she said as she nodded. Sydney hated to feel so down, it wasn't her at all. Plus, on top of that Kamron was seeing her like this and for once she wasn't comfortable with him around her. Looking away towards the fire, she took a moment and composed herself- she thought, 'Syd, this has nothing to do with you. Harry and the Aurors will deal with the kidnapping if there is one. No need to get worried, you are perfectly fine.' she assured herself as she turned back to Kamron and smiled at him.
"Sorry." she said as she grinned and began to speak, "I hate to place my burrdens on other people." She said as she shrugged it off, "It will all be fine. Optimisim is the key, right?" she said with little laugh towards herself. Looking away then looking back at him she spoke, "Other than Arithmancy, how has your day been?" she asked as she wanted to get off the subject of Harry and what ever he was doing today.

To him, Sydney seemed torn between her personality and how much she was bothered by whad had happened in Arithmancy that day. She did have a very happy, optomistic personality. She was the type that never grew up, instead they remained an innocent child forever. That was one of his favorite things about her. Personally, he tended to act far to mature for his age, and she reminded him that he was still a teenager and he would have pleanty of time to act old when he was old.
As she attempted a subject change, he let it happen. From a psychological point of view, she shoudln't try to keep things in, but from the budding relationship between them, he wasn't about to overstep his bounds.
"There is still nothing to be sorry for, but perhaps a, um, lighter topic is called for. My day had been alright. Though I am glad classes are over...and that I get to see you."
Life seemed to work against them most of the time. They only shared the occasional class, passed eachother on a few times a week in the halls. Dinner always seemed rushed and chaotic, and rairly did he catch a glimpse of her at the Gryffindor table. It seemed that he never saw her, yet stangly enough, she was one of the people in his life he cared about most.
