Meet the new me!((Edward Summers))

Kelsey sighed happily as she looked at herself in the mirror. She had a new look! Her clothes weren't wrinkled and her tie was acually tied correctly. She had used a spell for her hair to permanatly curl it. She had also charmed her hair brown, so that now light brown curls fell about her face. She grabbed the green headband from the night stand and nestled it into her curls. She took a step back and looked at everything. It was all oh so perfect. She smiled, feeling happy for the first time in months. She applied her make-up, light colors that brought out her green eyes instead of the black and dark dark purple she used to wear.

She took a deep breath and grabbed her notebook, thinking of writing a few more songs for her violin. She walked out of the common room, a new spring in her step as she stepped out of the portrait hole. She thought for a moment at where to go and decided upon the Student Lounge. She held her head higher and walked down the grand staircase and into the lounge. She noticed a few faces that she did not recognize and sat down beside the fire. She accioed a quill and started to write a song in her notebook. She was interupted when someone tapped her on the shoulder.

Ed had left the common room and had headed of towards the library where he had checked out a handfull of new books. Ed enjoyed hogwarts, expecially the library. That library was packed full of so many books for Ed to read. He didnt get much of a chance to read during the summer at his home. His parents refused to buy him anything ever since he was sorted into Ravenclaw. Every summer the same thing, the trip home consisted of his parents and sisters glaring at him as if he was some kind of stranger, they would even stop conversatios between themselves when he entered the room. As if he was going to go and tell someone what they were talking about.

Laden with an armfull of books Ed left the library and decided to head over to the lounge. The walk to his dorm would take to long, and he didnt want to tackle the stairs with his books at this moment. He entered the lounge and looked around. A few students were in the lounge, but most of the good seats were taken. He looked over at the fire and saw a empty seat next to a girl. He walked over to her and taped her on the shoulder. "Um...Excuse me? Is this seat taken?" He asked motioning to the seat next to her.

Kelsey looked up suddenly as a voice sounded obove her. The boy who had spoken was tall and most likely in his sixth year. She smiled shyly and shook her head at his question. She motioned for him to sit and smiled again. She twirled a finger in a curl and bit her lip slightly. She wondered if she should intorduce herself. The shy part of her screamed NO! She was going to get made fun of for something. But then the logical part of her simply said that he was a Ravenclaw and all Ravenclaws were loyal and good hearted. She mentally nodded and summoned up the little courage she had. Hodling out her hand, for a friendly handshake, she said:

"I'm Kelsey, by the way." she introduced herself. She hated how shy her voice sounded. She hadn't spoken to anyone in a little while, as she had completely seperated herself from everyone the passed few months.

He smiled. "Thanks." He ploped down onto the seat, falling down more than sitting down, and leaned foreward and set the books on the ground. He glanced over at the girl, she didnt seem to be that much younger than him, probably in her 5th year. Probably a hufflepuff. As he set his books down he noticed her offer her and introduce hereself.

He looked at her hand stupidly for a moment, almost forgetting what the motion ment. With a quick shake of his head he straightned up and took her hand and shook it. "Hi. My names Edward, you can just call me ed. Nice to meet you."

Kelsey smiled as she shook her head and told her his name was Ed. She nodded, her green eyes bright. She nodded at him.

"It's nice to meet you too, Ed," she said warmly, but still sounded shy. She grabbed her notebook yet again and started to write her song. She was trying to concentrate on the lyrics, but something told her to make conversation. Maybe it was that logical part of her again, trying to get her happy and out of depression. She gulped silently and smiled at Ed.

"So... um," she hoped the tremer in her voice wasn't noticable. She hated being so shy around people, "What are you reading?" she pointed to the rather large stack of books by his feet.

He adjusted his glasses and looked down at the pile of books. "uuh, oh you know, this and that. I read just about anything i can get my hands on." He motioned to her notebook. "whatja writing?"

She glanced down at the newly started song lyrics and then at Ed, who seemed curious about it. She gasped slightly and hid the contents of the page by pressing it against herself. She put on a fake pout and shook her head shyly.

"A song..." she faded out and smiled. Then she laughed a bit and showed him the song. It read:

she bit her lip and wondered what to write next. She shrugged and realized that she just showed a stranger an unfinished song. She gasped mentally and knew she must have blushed. She never showed her songs to anyone unless they were finished and she knew that person very well.

Ed noticed her hide the notebook and figured it was something private. He was about to change the subject when she showed him the page. He leaned in and began to read. It was a song. He was never any good at writing or reading song lyrics without the music, but this song was pretty good.

After he was done reading he looked up at her. "Thats a pretty good song. You ever thinking of publishing it?" He could tell just by looking at her that she probably wasnt planning on it. She was very shy and looked embarassed just by letting him read it.
