Rayne sat in her common room. It was crowded and noisy. The boys were being obnoxious and the girls weren't being any better. Rayne fed up with trying to read in her common room packed up her stuff and left the common room.
Where to go she could go outside but it was way to cold and she wouldn't get any reading done there. She could go to the Library but it would probably be crowded as well and the benches weren't exactly comfortable for reading. She decided to go to the Student Lounge. At least there it wasn't too crowded and it had comfy lounge chairs.
Rayne walked into the Student Lounge and noticed it was pretty empty. 'thank goodness' she thought to herself and sat down in her favorite chair next to the fire. She opened her book bag which was crammed to the max with books and took out her favorite book. It was muggle book called Incubus Dreams by Laurell K. Hamilton. She opened the book to her spot and biting her lower lip she began to read.

Faith stepped in out of the cold and screwed up her face. Why was it that as soon as she went out it started to rain? Sods law.
She took down her hood and shook the clinging raindrops from the front strands of blonde. The Entrance Hall was echoing with the sounds of students finishing a late dinner in the Great Hall and footsteps on the stairs.
Faith followed the footsteps upwards and headed towards the Student Lounge.
She pushed the heavy door open and poked her head around. It was practically deserted, except for a few fifth years and a younger looking girl, who was sitting in a huge armchair by the fire.
Smiling, Faith let the door close behind her and crossed the room towards the roaring flames, and the first year, which she recognised as being in the same house.
She pulled up a chair and fell into it, sighing.
"Long day," She said to the girl, sighing, "Double potions and I've got Astrology tonight. I'm Faith by the way."

Rayne looked up over the top of her book as a girl sat down and introduced herself as Faith. She noticed that Faith was in her house though she was a higher year then Rayne was. Rayne noticed that the girl was wemi wet. She must have just come in from the rain. Rayne marked her spot and turned her attention to Faith.
"I hate Potions. I'm always afraid I'll mess up so I always do." She said smiling at Faith "And the name's Rayne."

Faith laughed.
"Professor Snape always seems to have that effect on people," She grinned, "I remember, in my first year, I spilt my potion on the floor and he scared me so much when he told me off he gave me nightmares."
Faith shook her head.
"Cool name by the way," She smiled, "What you readin'?"

"He gave me nightmares before I met him. My brother told me horrible stories about him." Rayne said laughing
"And thanks your name is cool too."
Rayne showed her the book so that Faith could read the cover. "It's a muggle book by my favorite author. She's got like 11 other books in the series this is the latest one."

"It's a lot to live up to," Faith said, when Rayne complimented her name, "I don't know what it is about having a name like Faith or Patience or whatever that makes people think you're a perfect little angel. 'Fraid it's not the case though. "
She grinned again and tucked her legs under neath her, resting her head against the side of the armchair.
"Sounds cool," She said of the book, "I've never read a muggle book before. Isn't it wierd reading about a world without magic?"

"I know what you mean about the whole name thing that is. It's like they think I should be different since my name is different and I'm not." She says shrugging
Rayne put her book down and pulled her legs up so she was sitting cat like in the chair.
"It's not weird to me reading about non magic stuff. I didn't know I was a witch until I went to live with my brother and he told me." She said putting the book down on the arm of the chair.
"I can see how it would be weird for people from here though. It's pretty weird to me when the people in the paintings move. Almost gave me a heart attack the first time I saw it happen." She said chuckling.
"Not all muggle books aren't about magic though." Rayne said picking up the book again. "Take this one for example it's all about Magic and Vampires and werewolves it's all great. Muggles think it's all fantasy though."

Faith looked at the book with interest.
"Do you think I could borrow it?" She enquired, "It'd be really interesting to see a muggle's view of werewolves and vampires and stuff. 'N my Muggle Studies teacher'd love me!"
She smiled and pulled a small, thin book out of the back pocket of her jeans.
"Anything's better than this anyway," She said, looking disdainfully down at the red leather cover, "It's the Ancient Runes book my Professor assigned me. It's tiny writing. I think the author was being a bit on the cheap side with the amount of paper so he decided to write it really small instead." Faith added laughing.

Rayne looked at Faith shocked it was the first time anyone that was from the wizarding world had asked to borrow a muggle book. She quickly got over it and handed Faith the book. "Sure you can read it. I've only read it a thousand times." She said laughing
Rayne laughed when Faith told her about the ancient runes book. "Maybe the author was on a budget cut." She suggests smiling. "I've never even seen a book that thin before except for the childrens books muggles have even those can be bigger then that." Rayne added and laughed.

"I always get the dud," Faith agreed, chucking the book carlessly to the floor and tucking her hair behind her ears. Some strands had escaped from the loose ponytail at the back of her head and had fallen, characteristically, into her eyes.
"How come you're here then, instead of the Common Room?" She enquired, looking at Kat, "Too much noise?"
It wasn't the for Faith, she was quite often the one making the noise. But she knew that none of her friends were in her Common Room. She had left them walking in the grounds, when her hands had turned blue from the cold... she forgot her gloves again.

Rayne fidgeted in her chair trying to find a more comfortable postion. "Yeah there's too much noise in my common room. I can't think in there cause it's too crowded." She said finally settling down again.
"How about you why are you in here?" She asked

"The common room's a longer walk," Faith explained with a joking smile, "I was out in the Grounds but I came inside because incase you haven't noticed there seems to be a monsoon going on out there."
She gestured towards the dark windows, where the rain was raindrops were fighting a war with the glass.
"I think I missed the worse of it, though," She said, "But methinks it'll be weeks before I'm properly dry again."

Rayne laughed when Faith said that the common room was a longer walk.
"I noticed that you were wet I didn't know that there was a monsoon out though. By the sounds of it however I should've guessed." She said listening to the howling winds which seemed to be getting louder each minute.
"Why don't you just perform a drying spell or something that way you'll be dry in minutes instead of weeks." Rayne suggested smiling.
