It's Good To Be Back (Katie + Anyone else)

As Mary told Jaft that she was reading about King Arthur he remembered alittle of him, " Is he the one with the round table and the knights?" He asked to be sure thats who she was talking about

“No that is a fictional character. He is based on King Arthur though. The real King Arthur lived in the dark ages where they would have sat around the fire. That is most likely where the idea of a round table came from. He was a very good warrior and leader, which is most likely where the idea of the knights came from. The Medieval people distorted the story to fit into their own time period.” Mary said briskly before opening up her book once again and burying herself in it.

Jaft felt kind of dumb but now he knows who shes talking about " How was he a great warrior and what kind of weapon did he use wand or what?" Jaft said not really knowing anything on that time period.

"Sorry if im bothering your reading if you want i could come back again if you wnat to read" He said noticing that she went back to reading her book

“Its fine I can multitask” she said not taking her eyes off her book when he asked if she wanted him to stop talking to her. “He would have used a sword and a dirk most likely because he was British. He may have used a roman short sword though, maybe roman Calvary. Nobody knows much about him really, they don’t even know if he was real or not. But he has to be or how could you explain the stop of the Saxons along that line is there was not one leader uniting Britannia.” She went on. Mary loved the idea of Arthur and all the theories surrounding him. After Hogwarts she was even considering joining the excavation of Cadbury Hill. She enjoyed all the theories she knew about him, although they were not numerous they were convincing.

When Mary told him she could muilt task He said " O thats cool, i have heard of those kind of weapons but ii dont know how you could stad there and wait for your enemy to charge at you and fight that close, i know i wouldnt last 2 sec if i were there."

Katie looked at Vanessa and back to Jaft as they wondered what was wrong with her. She calmed her anger and stood up right away and looked at the people around her. "Dont try to get into my life its more srewed up than you think!" Katie told then all and grabbed her guitar and left the student lounge in a rage. Why was everyone wondering what was wrong with? She was just prefectly fine and she didnt need anyone else she didnt know to get into her life. Thinking about what Vanessa said about Jordan was mayber right. She could be protecting her in the meanish kind of way from turning into something that wasnt her. Sighing deeply she punced up the stairs and out into the corridors.

Mary rolled her eyes as Jaft asked where she learnt about King Arthur and things. Seeing as how he was the Ravenclaw she would have thought the answer obvious, but he apparently needed a little help. She looked up at him, gave him a bit grin and made her voice as excited as she could. “Oh my gosh have you not heard? It is so great. There is this newfangled invention; it’s called a book. I happen to have an example on me right not. See this,” she said lifting the novel into his line of sight. “Notice how it has pages in it. Well someone, now get this, they put writing on the pages. So people can read and learn. The library is filled with books like this, you should go there, check it out sometime.” She went on.

She then noticed Katie get up and leave. Mary did not blame her at all; it is what she would have done. In fact, though she did not know Katie she had a great respect for her now because of this act. ‘A Slytherin would never allow anybody to speak about them like that. It’s good to see some healthy pride in the other houses as well.’ Mary thought as her attention returned to Jaft. Wondering how he would take her sarcasm she smirked at him and waited for a reply. ‘Ravenclaw indeed humph I wonder if the sorting hat was sick that night.’<br>

Dana smirked as Mary sarcastically told Jaft from where she had learned about King Arthur. It had been a foolish question and Dana liked Mary’s humor, so mirth stayed in her eyes.

Dana’s attention shifted as Katie stormed out of the lounge, but she didn’t blame the first year. She had probably snapped back even worse to this, before stomping off. Katie had character Dana admitted and she felt her respect towards the her rise a little.

“We also learned a little about King Arthur in History of Magic last year. Or was it some other king and some guy named Arthur – I’m not really sure as I wasn’t very wake at that moment,” Dana pondered loudly for a moment, trying to think back to the most boring class, but failing miserably.

“And to think I like to read about History of Magic from books. I have no clue how Binns manages to make that subject so boring,” Dana shrugged and tilted her head, “But let’s not trail to that topic, please. It’s too early back at school to be thinking of classes. Especially on a free evening.”<br>

Mary’s attention shifted as Dana mentioned history of magic in such an innocent way she must not have heard the condescension in Mary’s voice. She realised not many of her friends had seen that side of her, beyond the other Slytherins of course. Instead of feeling regret like Mary believed she should, she was simply upset she hadn’t been forceful enough. Mary seldom fit the Slytherin stereotype when it came to her behaviour, but she couldn’t help it when someone rubbed her the wrong way. She had yet to figure out what Jaft had meant by his question, but she knew it was nothing good. She did not like the way he had talked about Katie and she really hated the way he insulted her intelligence, wondering how a Slytherin would know anything. That was the most likely reason for a question like that Mary believed. There was no way a true Ravenclaw would ask such a question. Mary had meet Ravenclaws who would make your head spin due to the sheer knowledge they possess.

Mary looked over at Dana. “I believe it was Merlin who we were learning about. It included King Arthur because Merlin was his confidant, tutor, and adoptive father.” Mary explained smiling at her friend before once again returning to her book.

*Pyro steped into the lounge nearly bent double under the weight of his book bag. He fought for breath as he scanned the room and spotted mary. He walked over and found a seat near her and droped his bag.

He seemed to grow as the weight was lifted and his feet were finally able to rise out of the sunken holes they were creating. he droped down onto the seat with a sigh of relieve..He closed his eyes and paused for a moment, than open them and looked at mary.

"Hey Mary....."

“Oh, it was Merlin. How dumb of me,” Dana smirked towards Jaft while raising her eyebrows in a mocking way, “Poor old me always thought books were made so I’d have something to lean my head on during History of Magic lessons. How ever could have guessed you could learn something from a book?”<br>
Dana rolled here eyes with a quick wink to Mary before raising her eyes to some unfamiliar boy, who had just greeted Mary.

*Pyro listened to the older looking girl talk about books with a philosophy that didnt sound to much different than his. He sighed and rubed his sore shouler, than noticed her looking at him. He looked at her*

"Yes? May I help you?"

"I doubt that I need help with something. At least not right now. I might get back to you on it some day though," Dana sneered. She might have been a Ravenclaw, but her grand-mother had been a Slytherin, so she had learned to sneer from her. It was useful from time to time.

Dana cocked her head to the side and let her eyes travel all over hte rather large group sitting on different chairs and couches in fornt of her.

*He arched an eyebrow at her, slightly amuesed. he chuckled slightly*

"and what Pray tell me makes you think Im extending the offer to a time more confinient to you?

Dana was starting to get amused.
“Well, I guess if you are in such need to do me a favor, I guess I could find some use to you now,” Dana said tiling her head to the side and eyeing the boy rather snobbishly, although the amusement shone in her eyes.

“Then again – why bother? I don’t even know your name nor recognize you from anywhere,” Dana raised and eye-brow questioningly, “And certainly aren’t any damsel in distress, so I could handle myself without your aid.”

Mary smiled as Pyro walked in and said hello to her. She had never been so happy to see him in all of their acquaintance. “Hey Doll.” She simply said before listening to Dana joke with Jaft about her book comment. Mary rolled her eyes, maybe Dana was trying to take the sting out of what she had said; but Mary really wished she wouldn’t. She then giggled as Dana and Pyro jumped down each other’s throats. Upon remembering that it was her friend that Pyro was bothering though she decided to step in. “Oi, oi, oi you two. Please, please don’t fight. Dana this is Pyro; Pyro this is my good friend Dana.” She said emphasizing the good friend part. “Pyro this is Justin, Vanessa, and Jaft” she said with exasperation in her voice as she said the last name of their remaining group. “I was just explaining to dear Jaft here what a book is. I think he’s a little slow.” She said saying the last part in a whisper that she made sure could be heard by everyone sitting there. Before shooting another glare at Jaft.

After Marys and Danas comments Jaft decided to leave knowing when people are haveing oo much fun at his expense, as he left he said " Good day, ill talk to you later, Mary, Dana, everone else,i bid you all a good day," as he left he gave a little wink at Mary saying that he knew that she was kidding then left the room to find some fun that he could have fun with.

*A slight grin came across his face*

I am in no need to be doing favors, enough people owe me as it is, I can barely keep track of it all..

*He turned to mary and said in a slightly sarcastic tone*

So? what brings us all here for this joyfull gathering..

Mary rolled her eyes as Pyro asked why they were all there. She seemed to roll her eyes a lot around him for some reason. ‘Joyful gathering indeed’ she thought, but again kept her thoughts to herself. Mary barley knew anybody, two people had walked in and she had shown her Slytherin side in front of non-Slytherins for the first time in a long while.

“Personally I came in because I needed a reason not to feel guilty about not unpacking. I can’t speak for the others though. I am sure if you ask nicely they will tell you their own reasons.” Mary said to him, knowing how painful it would be for him to talk to people outside Slytherin with the respect required to get an answer.

*he looked down at his bag, which seemed ready to burst and nudged it with his toe*

"Man I would sell myself as a slave if this homework would just do itself for a change...."
