Someone new to talk to ((Molly))

Sapphire walked aimlessly down the corridor. This was something that she very rarely did. She usually seemed to have a purpose to what she was doing... but today she was at a loss as to what to do. She had too much spare time on her hands. Some of the teachers were winding down with the amount of homework they set towards the Christmas holidays (although some were predictably setting more of it in the anticipation of not being able to do so for a few weeks) and Sapphire was finding herself with time to do something... new. Not a usual occurence, by far. She had read her books over quite a few times now. She'd just read the History of Magic and Mythology textbooks cover to cover twice. The things we do when we are bored!

So it was with this intent - or rather no intent - that Sapphire found herself wandering down the corridor, wondering what to do. She hadn't seen Phoebe around today, and the only time she had seen Zara she had been with friends, and they had merely acknowledged each other and passed by. Sapphire didn't have any friends to be with. Not today, in any case.

Sapphire pushed open the door to the Student Lounge. It was fairly busy, of course, being a cold Saturday afternoon. The Student Lounge was one of the warmest areas of the castle. Everyone seemed to be talking to someone. Some people were playing wizard chess and wizard draughts (something Sapphire would not have minded participating in, had someone offered, which of course they would not), and others were simply sitting about and chatting. A few were doing homework, although this was not the most sensible place to be studying. Sapphire walked over to the bookcase, hoping to find something new to read. She selected a book and found a relatively quiet corner of the Lounge to sit in.

Sapphire had been reading for a little while, and finding the book dreadfully dull, and she was very glad to put aside the book when she heard a friendly voice greeting her.

[Molly Weasley]

Molly had been sitting in the Gryffindor common room reading. It was not something she often did, but today there seemed to be nothing else to do (inless you count homework). She put the book down getting rather bored with it. Molly saw her Persian pacing around the common room meowing loudly at Molly to pet her. Molly went over to the cat, picked her up, and stroked the cat's long fur thoughtfully. She suddenly got an urge to walk around the castle and socialize a bit.

Molly made her way out the portrait hole and walked down the halls towards the student lounge, where her and her friends usually talked around the fireplace. She hesitated at the huge oak doors. She slowly reached for the handles and pulled the doors open.

There she saw a girl about her age sitting in the corner of the room reading. Molly walked over to her hoping that she was not disturbing her. She sat down in the chair next to the one the girl was sitting in. "Hello, I hope I'm not disturbing you, my name is Molly. I was just wondering around the castle hoping to find someone to talk to." Molly smiled warmly at the girl waiting for a reply.

Sapphire looked up at the girl and smiled. She might never come across as very friendly to start with, which this girl seemed brilliant at doing, but when you got to know her, she was a good friend.

"No, no, you're not disturbing me at all, actually," Sapphire said, putting the book hastily aside. "I'm a bit bored myself."

"Sapphire," she said, to introduce herself, hoping Molly would not just think she was being random. "I'm Sapphire," she said, to clarify. She looked across the room for a second, but quickly turned back, not wanting to seem rude or disinterested in any way. She was a bit of a loss for something to say though.

Just then a white Persian cat wandered into the room and came across to the two of them. It stroked its head against Molly. Sapphire bent down to pet it.

"Yours?" she asked Molly.

Molly smiled at Sapphire as she told Molly her name. She then felt her cat rub her head on her knee. "yes she's mine. Her name is Duchess. She's really friendly, you can pick her up if you want." said molly, looking down upon Duchess and softly stroked the cat's fur.

"What brings you down to the Student Lounge?" asked Molly, trying to livin up the conversation a little bit.

Molly looked into the fire and remembered the letter her father had senther earlier that day. It told her how much he really like Sandra - a woman that he had met while she was at school. He said he had really strong feelings for her. Molly wondered if he would propose to Sandra and if he did when would the wedding be? Would Sandra approve of Molly being a witch? Would she get along with this woman called Sandra? Molly hoped they got along well, she's been longing for a mother for a long time now and she wated to talk to someone that understood girl problems and not her father who didn't know anything of that sort. Molly sighed and turned back towards Sapphire.
