He smiles slightly at her. He could only guess that she was aware of Ivy's feelings towards him. The third year had made it wuite clear that night that she did not like him, and he could not say that it didn't catch him off guard. He had never met anyone who openly disliked him--especially when they had no reason to do so.
"Too bold?"
He was still smiling as he shrugged. He wasn't upset with Ivy for saying anything. Even if he wished that she would not be so angry at him, he knew all she wanted was what was best for Kiyla.
"She expressed concern for what happened at the ball, and told me that you and I needed to talk about it"

Kiyla bit her lip. Ivy must not have been too bold with whatever she said because Payton was over here smiling about it. Then again... Payton never really was mad about much and hardly ever showed emotion whearas Kiyla wore her emotions on her sleeve half the time.
"Not the word I was thinking about but.. I guess it'll work the same." She said soflty looking at her hands.
Then Payton said that Ivy said that her and Payton should talk about it.
"Do you want to talk about it? I mean, it doesn't really matter to me but if Ivy wants up too..." Kiyla said her voice trailing off.

As was typical for him, his smile never faded, and he shrugged slightly. Personally, he prefered to avoid the whole topic. What was past, was past, and there was nothing he was going to do to change it. Ivy did seem rather set on him talking to Kiyla, and to some extent he did see her point. He had no clue what was going through Kiyla's head, so maybe it was good to set things straight.
"Not sure I have much of a choice...Ivy might not let me live to see tomorrow if we don't"

Kiyla sighed. She didn't even want to talk about it really but Payton did have a point. Ivy would kill him... and her.. if they didn't talk about it.
"I suppose you are right..." She said, her voice trailing off again.
Kiyla stared intently at her hands not looking up at all.
"Only, I don't know how or where to start." Kiyla added softly.

As his gaze focused on her his smile softened, knowing that this might quickly turn into a touchy subject. Things seemed to have changed between them at the dance, and with the added pressure Ivy was putting on them, he did not see smooth sailing ahead.
"Well, the dance? I guess it was when we parted that caused the trouble right? Now, I have given my account of the events, but I guess at the dance I didn't give you much according to details. I guess I probably do owe you that. Sethia and I had become friends not too long before the dance, after I had asked you. Then she came in alone at the dance...in that red dress...and you seemed distracted, so it seemed like a plan at the time. I saw you dancing with that other boy when I asked her if she wanted to dance, so I decided that I could take my time. Then I think I danced through three songs with Sethia...we talked about nothing in particular...Christmas a lot. Yes, that was it, because she said she didn't have any family to go home to for the Holidays, so I her she could come spend Christmas at my house if she wanted. Then I saw you alone, so I left Sethia and went back to you"
He paused for a moment, still trying to decided if that was everything, as the events all seemed distant and blurred in his head, before shrugging slightly and looking back at her to see her reaction.

Kiyla looked at her hands as if it were the most interesting thing in the world. She knew that if she looked up at Payton she would cry. She knew it all along, but she willed herself to deny it.
Kiyla watched a tear drop into her hands and watched it make a part of her hand moist as if it were raining. She took a breathe and stood up without making eye contact with Payton. She couldn’t look at him… it would hurt her to much.
Kiyla strode over to the doorway, leaving the warmth of the lounge. She put her hand over the door knob and stood there for a second.
“Goodbye Payton. It was fun while it lasted… whatever you want to call it,” Kiyla said willing herself to give a small laugh. Instead of a laugh, however, it sounded hoarse and fake. She quickly opened the door and stood outside. She looked around and saw no one, so she quickly let the tears stream down as she fell to the ground in front of the doorway.

"Kiyla" he said quickly, standing up quickly as she started to leave. He was supose to tell her about what had happened at the dance, but this wasn't supose to happen.
"Kiyla, please" His words seemed lost as she paused only briefly before she was out the door. By now, guilt was burning in the pit of his stomach. He truly liked Kiyla, and he didn't want their friendship to end, especially like this.
He moved towards the door after her, stepping out to see here there, tears flooding down her cheeks. "Kiyla, I don't want our friendship to be over."

Kiyla looked up to see Payton there. She wanted to laugh but didn't. Instead she just stayed where she was and whipped away her tears with the sleeves of her robes.
"Whatever," she said quietly as she got up from the gorund slowly. Her body was shaking slightly making it harder for her to get up. Her face was stained with tears, she could tell, and she felt tears still falling. She felt her knees shaking slightly wanting to be back no the floor.

He ignored her tears, instead he reached a hand down and grabbed her own hand in attempt to steady her. Somehow things changed so drasticly between them at Halloween--and he had an idea he was starting to figure out why, far too much out this was relying on his actions with Sethia.
"Kiyla, dispite what you may think, you are important to me, and I took you to the Halloween ball for a reason."

Kiyla snatched her hand away from Paytons but as she did so she feel.
"Ouch!" She said loudly feeling stupid. She couldn't believe he was doing this to her. She jus stayed where she was on the ground and looked up at Payton.
"Why is that? You felt sorry for me?" She asked him.

He sighed, a hand raising so his fingers could run through his hair as if he knew he was ont he banks of very deep waters and he was debating on how to cross. After a moment he moved so that he sat beside her. If she wouldn't coe up to him, he was going to go down to her.
"No, not because I felt sorry for you. Because I liked you--you were an intresting person and I knew we would have a good time together."

Kiyla smirked. The tears had stopped and now instead of sadness she was feeling anger.
"Whats with the past tense?" She asked.

He sighed again, what was it with girls and reading between the lines. He had enough sisters to know there was no way around it, but it always managed to catch him a little off guard anyway.
"Past tense because the Ball was past tense. The feelings though, are not."

Kiyla laughed.
"I'm leaving now. Your lies are too much for me," Kiyla said with a sigh. She pulled her knees up to her face.
"Go away," she mumbled feeling like a stubborn six year old child.

((I'm sorry for sort of ignoring our post, I would rather not see it come to an end, but you know how the joys of school can be...))
"Kiyla..." He had not moved yet, nore did he plan too. He didn't want to see things end like this. No matter what she thought, he hadn't been lying to her and he never intended on saying or doing anything that would cause her pain. He wanted to be her frienda nd he wans't about to just give up on that.
"Please...I don't know what to tell you, but I havne't been lying to you"
